Trying to conceive thread Number 2

Hi Girls,

I thought I'd start a new thread the old one was getting a bit long.

I am feeling a lot more relaxed this month. We have been BD'ing but more for the fun of it than for babymaking. DH (bless him) has bought me a separate present for each the 12 days of Xmas - one a day. He has bought me some lovely things - which are very useful in "getting us in the mood"...

I am such a lucky girl!

Here's hoping Santa is kind to us all...

Well we spent some of Xmas being snuggly but DH is still ill with awful coughing so I am leaving him alone until next month! Also got the 2 week wait but would be highly unlikely to be our turn this month.

steppemum · 29/12/2003 07:13

hello everyone, sorry to hear about your unwelcome Christmas pressie bluestar We've spent all Christmas getting snuggly under the covers and now it is that long 2 week wait. As it is the first month we've tried, I'm not very optimistic, but I have to say ttc is fun at the moment - best sex life we've had since ds was born! Only hope it lasts once we get into the pregnant-or-not cycle.
sHANta, how was 26th?

sHANtA · 28/12/2003 22:35

festivisal - I would definately make an appt to see your gp - it may answer some questions for you and put your mind at ease. Make the call!

bluestar · 27/12/2003 20:04

Sadly, Santa brought along the wicked witch on Christmas Day. My cycle length this month was slightly longer but as this month I have temped all the way through and kept a note of symptoms, hopefully this will help us conceive in January!

festivisil · 23/12/2003 20:20

Ooh, you could be in for a great Xmas bluestar, have some festive good luck baby dust!

Can anyone answer my question about whether I should go see my GP? Just six months seems a bit short, but then again if I've had surgery ...?

bluestar · 23/12/2003 20:12

Yep, futurity, I know that one, at the very end of our bd time, dh got a bad back so I probably missed the key day, however, day 29 of 30 cycle, no spotting, still got high temps, so hanging on in there just in case. Haven't tested yet though, will probably wait a few days more. Hope your dh gets better soon!!

sHANtA · 23/12/2003 17:42

that's awful futuity....mabye he'll feel better soon? hope so for your sake!

futurity · 23/12/2003 17:13

I am fed up. Was all full steam ahead for ttc this week and DH has come down with awful cough..he hasn't been ill all year and yet Christmas week/ovulation week he is a mess! DS is also being hard work...asking for biscuits all the time and I am FED UP and want to escape!! Sorry..needed to rant! I have a slight cough but of course I have to carry on whilst DH gets to lie around getting waited on! OK he is worse than me but it is the principle of the thing..hope I get to lie around when I am ill!!

sHANtA · 23/12/2003 14:43

festive pissy stick people - thanks for giving me a laugh festivisal!!
I'm still looking after my friend's dd (she had a section but at that weight I'm still calling her the Big Earth Mother from now on!) and the two of them are a bit friend-ed out right now and so am I - where's her father?!?!
And I hope no period too but likely not. At least being at the inlaws will keep my mind off things.
Anyone has good news for us?
hana

festivisil · 23/12/2003 13:52

Fingers crossed for all you festive pissy stick people.

I reckon New Years Eve should be our bd day! hurrah! We're going to have a half arsed attempt this month, so that I can enjoy my birthday at the end of January!

But then in Feb we begin in earnest! I read somewhere that if you have had abdominal surgery, you should see your GP if you haven't conceived after 6 months. I had an ovarian cyst out in April - so should I be off to the doctors?

GladTidings · 23/12/2003 12:29

Bloody Nora Hana!!! They are a fine size for a single baby nevermind twins!!

Was it a C Section or did the brave woman push them both out?

Fingerscrossed for you tomorrow! I really hope nothing happens IYKWIM.

sHANtA · 23/12/2003 12:20

she had a boy and another boy!! They were 8.7 and 7.8 pounds so big little bruisers for twins I think!

sHANtA · 22/12/2003 17:54

yes quacks, it's the 26th. Thanks for remembering.

cazzybabs · 22/12/2003 12:34

Af came today - am a bit sad. OH well roll on two weeks . Also must stop bf as am sure its not helping matters!!!

bluestar · 22/12/2003 12:01

Well I am nearing the end of the 2ww, af due Christmas Eve. 'Nice' present for me if it arrives, a great present if it doesn't!! Have had 11 days of high temps now, have had a mixture of feelings over this time and am not sure whether I am just reading something into everything of all the possible symptoms. Too scared to test early since I lost the last one at nearly 5 weeks but I am not sure I could wait til after then to test either. I was actually looking at the TTC thread of this time last year and I was waiting to test at the same time. Seems that it has been a long year and hoping next year will bring some reward, whether this month or next. Anyone else at the testing point over Christmas? Would be nice to see some good news during the next couple of weeks on this board.

XmasQuackers · 22/12/2003 09:18

Hana, thinking of you this week, it's your due date I believe. Hugs {{{{{{}}}}}

sHANtA · 22/12/2003 08:45

Chandra - it's now morning and she is still under observation. DD was delighted to have her best friend spend the night, although they were up at about 5am.....so so sleepy I don't envy her nights in her future! Her husband is home now and is picking up the little one after b'fast. Have a lot of little things to do today - was hoping ot be on the road by now, but not yet. Will let you know!

Chandra · 22/12/2003 00:51

Hi Shanta, is god to see I'm not the only person awake, how is your friend doing?

sHANtA · 22/12/2003 00:42

hello all! Am up at this ridiculous hour - my friend who is expecting twins is at the hospital!!! So here I am, cuppa in hand catching up. (am at her place...)Period due middle of week but not really expecting good news. Hasn't been any positive sticks for a while so someone MUST be pregnant soon!!
sHANtA

love everyone's names makes me giggle

TwinkleSparkle · 21/12/2003 21:07

Evening all!

oops, should say 'TwinkleSparkle' formally known as mum2ela!

Just catching up to see how everyone is doing.

Pollingfold - welcome! Sorry to hear about your m/c. Hope things are better for you next year. When in January is your referral?

Dejags - nightmare, 2ww! I have been using an OPK this month which is telling me I am yet to ovulate. Looks like its back to irregular cycles BUt perhaps will OV over the next couple of days, hopefully not Tuesday though as DH is in Scotland that day, and I am sure that me being in Wales and him there will not get us preggers!

Steppemum - welcome! I wish none of my friends knew I was ttc, every month they ask if there is any news. Think its putting pressure on me. Next time think I will keep it a secret!

Happy Xmas BD'ing everyone!!!

xxxxxxxx

festivisil · 21/12/2003 19:06

I mean the same time as you, Slink. Too much "at least I'm not pg at Xmas" juice this pm!

festivisil · 21/12/2003 19:05

Feeling really down about ttc today. Only been trying 4 months, so don't have much to complain about. Just had a pg NCT friend round yesterday, and managed to get jealous about her aching back, pains etc.

I just want to never be pg again! Oh, and to have a baby.

Think I'll try the pissy sticks this month so we know the best time to do it - Slink, I think I'm the best time as you!

Slink · 21/12/2003 18:44

Thanks Twigglwt and Steppemum.

I guess i just fell god why is it taking that long.... Well i know why i have a DH with a very low Libido..... he wants another too. Anyway just been on another site about ovulating and will see how we go this month. I just don't think i am timing it right????Anyway need to bonk away before mother in law gets back from her hols(she lives with us) i can make lots of noise then haha ..

Good luck to all and if i don't get back on this thread merry christmas to you allxxxxxxxx

steppemum · 21/12/2003 14:27

hello, can I join this thread? Ds just had his first birthday, and we've rather recklessly decided to abandon all contraception and try for another one. Only problem is I definitely DO NOT want another one near Christmas, so we'll try for a couple of months and then hold on for a couple!!

Slink 32 is positively young!! Do a search on some of the older mums threads, there's loads around who had theirs at 40 plus, never mind 30 plus. I was 35 when ds was born, and will be at least 37 with the next one.

I feel a bit naughty joining this thread actually as non of my friends know we're trying, and I have no idea if any of them are mumsnetters and know me!!

dejags · 21/12/2003 09:46

Hi All,

Well officially into the two week wait. Been bd'ing for england and the world - but I am not holding my breath.

Mum2Ela - how are things going?
