Trying to conceive thread Number 2

BTW, is anyone else struck with fertility-related hypochondria? I insisted on a test for PCOS despite 2 doctors saying I didnt have the classic signs (it was neg), then immune disorders (still waiting for those tests). Now today I have been Googling and am convinced I have endometriosis and a luteal phase defect. It seems that everything I read is relevant to me. Dh is getting a bit bored by it all.

Ds is out with grandparents so loads of time to obsess about ttc today. After a few days of spotting I appear to be getting AF today so I spoke to my consultant and he has advised me to start on clomid tomorrow - I am so scared.

Already been to Boots for wee sticks and pg tests and yesterday I bought a digital thermometer so this is it now, serious stuff. I'm on a mission!

That's it BB!!!!!! Think of that bigger picture and the pecious time you have got with your little one!!!! Although I do hope this is your year, you deserve it!!

Ds is 4 in May, so the youngest he wil be if I manage a successful pregnancy, is nearly 5 when a sibling comes along. I have worried about the gap but looking on the bright side, I have had 4 years to concentrate on my ds and we do tons of stuff that friends with more children cant do. When/if No2 comes along, ds will be in school and I will have lots of time to concentrate on the younger one. A big gap can be a positive thing, I really believe that.

I have no idea Bunny about cervical position, not one I've tried!

Bigbird, My DD will be almost 4 when this next baby comes along. I used to worry myself about age gap and I have found it is something that really doesn't matter. I will have all my days with the new baby as DD will be starting school, it will be much easier I think. My friend seemed to have an obsession about only having 2 yrs between her kids. I said WHY? She could not answer me. She had answered her own problem! I was almost 7 when my sisiter was born and I don't think I suffered for it. In fact I was able to help and enjoyed playing and didn't squabble too much with her.

BeckiF, that sounds very frustrating. My cycles can be long and irregular too, just adds to the ttc stress.

Hana, have you looked into vitamin E as a supplement for treating antiphospholipid antibody disorders? It has been used instead of heparin to help prevent miscarriage. I only discovered this today and am trying to find out more. Apparently women treated with aspirin AND vitamin E had more success than those treated with aspirin and heparin. Might be worth some investigation.

Euurrgghhh .... day 95 of my cycle, still no AF after the slight 'smudge' at the weekend. Now got migrainey type head and nausea. -pg on Sunday, so I can only attribute it to hormones as I've upped the Metformin I'm on .... how is everyone else doing?

I wanted a smaller gap too and someone once said to me that you can never plan for these things (said before I had ds and you always think that you will be fine and everything will go to your plan). Now I tell my friends thinking of #2 to be prepared to go the distance! Now at the bd/ttc time of my cycle and have managed the last 2 nights. At least this is the time you can actively do something constructive before you get to the 2ww which is the hardest part of all I think. Good luck everyone.

Quacks, this is the first time I have tried keeping a chart and monitoring my cycle. I have had no EWCM despite looking for it many times a day . So I dont think it is ovulation spotting, there again it might be. ~I am trying to establish the position of my cervix, not really sure what to compare it to. How low is low??

Bunny2 and hana - my miscarriage clinic nurse told me she was always surprised when people stopped ttc when having investigations. As my clinic also has a pregnancy clinic for anybody newly pregnant (from 4 weeks) she thought by not trying you were missing out on more opportunities to be pregnant. That theory seems to be supported by the Lesley Regan book as well. But who knows. Good luck to everybody!

Big bird - I wanted a smaller gap too - would have been 2 years but lost that one, and then would have been 2 and a half, lost that one too.........so it will be at least 3 years, well more than that as I'm not pregnant now. Nothing you can do about that though, I still get upset when I think about friends that have the gap that I wanted, but as I said, really nothing that I (or you) can really do. Bigbird - After the lap op to check for endometritis, I went home the next day which was a Friday and stupidly (but I was young) i WALKED to work on the Monday!! Hence I was taken quite poorly but was only off for a eek after that! The dye episode was a-ok. A tad sore for a few days I spose, but I went to work the next day! For me it was the not knowing! Now I have had it done I can say to people to just relax, it's over so soon!!

The hardest thing for me at the min is that dd is getting older and older ... we had hoped for an 18mth-2yr gap and at this stage it will be pushing 3yrs or more.....that is making me panic more han anything. I want company for her NOW ! Anyone else feel like this.

(and I'm constantly reminding myself I am so lucky to have one in the first place....)

Bunny, could that perhaps have been ov when you had spotting? It can happen then too. Did you have any ov symptoms this cycle??

It's all part of the investigations over the years! You spend your teenage years being told NOT to get pregnant and take precautions, and yet when you WANT to have a fmily no-one has ever told you it just might not be possible!

Wow, it is all getting very technical.

Sitting here invigilating an exam feeling huge period pains and I'm sure I've comeon.

But I'm not sure I'm up to starting on all the technical stuff this month. Maybe when I get my package through from eyelash I'll get all excited and give it a go.

Right now I just want a hot water bottle and stiff gin.

BigBird - I had a lap when I was 18 as they thought I had endometritis. Under general they put a weeny camera through the belly button make sure everything is ok. Nothing to worry about at all! I also had the dye test when they put a metal tube through your cervix and push dye into your womb to see if it goes out your tubes (checking for blockages). The tube going in was quite painless and the dye can give you a sudden crampy feeling. Again, nothing to worry about! I got myself in a right state b4 hand so I vowed to tell just how it is to anyone who asks!

Hello all. Crikey, this is very scarey stuff. I really shouldnt be ttcing till I have results back like Hana, but I am so desperate to get pg again. I have had some spotting today, day 22. We did bd on day 13 so I suppose there is tiny change this is an implantation bleed. The chances are very slim, I normally have a long cycle so wouldnt ovulate till day 18 or so (if at all). It is probably just my body mucking around again.

Bunny - good to see you back!! Best of luck. 3rd time lucky for you I hope, just like me! I used fertility friend to conceive this baby and did so first month. The charting will at least tell you if you are ov'g, I know that in itself just made my year after all the bad luck. I relaxed more and it must have helped! Very best of luck to all, this thread is VERY fertile!!

Yay! Good to see you here Bunny! Hubby asked me last night (ahem....) if we should be ttc.....I do wonder about it as I'm still waiting for results....but I also have been told that the next pregnancy should be a normal healthy one.

Hi, can I join? I was meant to be waiting for some tests to see why I have miscarried twice but the hospital have messed me around so much I have decided to start ttcing anyway. My consultant says there is a good chance my next pregnancy will be fine and has given the go-ahead. So here I am. I've got my chart printed out from Fertility Friends and I might try temping to see if the last pregnancy kickstarted my ovaries into ovulation again (last pg was a clomid one).
