Having recommended this fab little gadget for everyone ttc I wonder whether everyone who has now got one wants to join a thread and keep each other posted on our fern days etc?!

Find info \link{http://www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk\here}!

About me: Am ttc db2 but still bfeeding dd (9mths) about once a day. No af since giving birth so no idea if ovulating etc but have just started using my isis scope :o

Have you taken a test mrsbilly? Your AF could have been light ue to pregnancy perhaps?

Just rying my microscope now to see if pregnancy causes ferning... will report back in 20 mins.

MrsBilly · 12/06/2006 07:56

Now I'm confused - after my fern excitement, af was due couple of weeks ago, turned up a wee bit late and was a bit pathetic to say the least, only lasted a day or so. That was beginning of last week and now I have lots of ferns already, way more than I got before. Help!! Any advice?

bobblehead · 07/06/2006 17:31

I think you should get them before and during (maybe even after?) but tbh I I'm not sure how much I trust my scope these days! I've been trying it around 3 times a day some days and am more likely to get ferns at night for some reason. Then again I don't really know where I am ovulation wise yet so could just be my body! I've tried using it straight after brushing teeth and eating too to see if that affects it and I can't say I noticed much difference. Perhaps the levels of hormone vary throughout the day? Sorry to not be much help!

eliz32 · 07/06/2006 14:07

had ferns yesterday at dinner time, lots of them.not had any since!are you meant to get ferns before ovulating?after or during or for the whole duration of ovulation?

jasool · 31/05/2006 16:37

Until today was just using the 'licking' method. Tried the sublingual method today, but still just blobs! I do leave it to air dry before placing it in the scope. Will keep going. Maybe its that I'm a 'late ovulator' and that's part of the reason both my children were born late?!?!? Or maybe I'm just clutching at straws!!

Piffle · 31/05/2006 12:37

Are you using saliva from underneath your tongue sub lingual, I never got ferns til then
Leave the microscope out to air dry?

jasool · 31/05/2006 12:01

Having recently joined this site, I've read the whole of this thread, gone and purchased this scope, and am now worried! I'm on day 13 of a 28 day cycle, have been using scope correctly since it arrived on day 9, and have nothing but blobs! I would normally take my cm today to be an indicator that I was ovulating but after no change on the scope whatsoever, and now worried that maybe I'm not. I'm pretty much a 28 regular cycle, but have noticed over the past 9 months that my period is getting shorter - it's now only 2 days. Does this mean anything?
Can you also tell me how to view buffy's fern pictures?!? I'm intrigued, and hope they will show me what I'm looking for on my own scop! Thanks all.

buffythenappyslayer · 30/05/2006 10:59

have you seen my pic on the members profiles of my ferns?i took it with my mobile!!!its sooo cool!!!

suzi2 · 30/05/2006 10:57

I ordered it last night Buffy - I was showing DH the pictures of what ferning looks like - he looked mightily unimpressed! Grin

buffythenappyslayer · 30/05/2006 10:50

suzi they only take a couple of days to arrive.
mrs billy!!!!you got ferns!!!they are cool arent they!!!

anyone else got any news??

suzi2 · 29/05/2006 20:37

I must get myself one of these gadgets! We're meant to be letting nature take it's course but I'm fascinated about what my cycle is or isn't doing since having DS! And I love gadgets. DH has just bought a PSP so I think I'm entitled to purchase a licky ferny thing! Grin How long do they take to arrive from access diagnostics? I've got a persona so I guess I could go back to using that too but since I'm having weird cycles post DS it might be harder to interpret what it's telling me.

I haven't read the whole thread - has anyone got a BPF while using one of these?

MrsBilly · 28/05/2006 16:18

I'm so excited I finally had some ferns!!! Grin I know it's not anywhere near as exciting as a bfp but it's a start, first time I've seen them since I got the damned thing. Only a few in among the blobs, but they were there two days running. Have been making hubby bd all week, he's not complaining tho. Wink

Mirry71 · 27/05/2006 10:28

hi bobblehead, been off line. ttc since december (although a couple of months i know we timed it wrong - or maybe trying to convince myself that way) but no luck yet...and beginning to worry but trying not to.

buffythenappyslayer · 24/05/2006 15:51

you too bobblehead!im on cd15 now.tried to get dh to have a quickie last night, but he was too tired!!typical!!

bobblehead · 24/05/2006 15:49

Hi Buffy! I must admit I enjoyed the break from licking and ttc while away stopped me obsessing for a while, despite spending time with my 9 week old nephew! (Perhaps it just brought back memories of the hard work and sleepless nights!).

My news is I finally got af (the night before a long haul flight in a house with post menapausal women and not a tampon in sight- typical!) and am on cd 7 now, so have resumed licking. I am trying not to get my hopes up as I know things will probably not return to normal for quite a while, but at least its a step in the right direction.

Hope you get some good news soonSmile

Gingerbear · 24/05/2006 14:46

God, that post made out you have a drink problem - I meant have you stopped drinking whilst ttc?

you know what I mean!

Gingerbear · 24/05/2006 14:35

piffle, I have just read through all this thread - earlier on someone mentioned alcohol increases the ferning? Are you still drinking? This might be the cause.

buffythenappyslayer · 24/05/2006 14:10

hi guys!!!
anyone got any news??
i havent.Sad
ive given up on the scope!dh wants me to keep licking, but i became so obsessed with finding ferns and getting upset when theres not any!
im so desperate for another baby, that its just taking over my life.so im trying to calm my broodiness down and concentrate on my hols and starting my new business and doing my coursework and looking after the kids and the house!!!(someone remind me please how many hours are there in the day!!)
im trying to be positive, thinking that it is going to happen,(fingers crossed!)
just wanted to pop in and say hi to all the scope gang!!!

bobblehead · 23/05/2006 15:21

No idea Piffle, sorry! Have you tried any other opk's? I think the scope goes by levels of estrogen which forms salt crystals when dry, so I suppose possibly things could affect it to give false positives (my mum wondered whether eating alot of things containing plant estrogens would influence but no idea if thats true!). Perhaps if you tried the sticks too measure stuff in your pee as thats diff hormones I think.

Piffle · 23/05/2006 15:09

I'm on cd 7 and I've got full ferns, I seem to get ferns every day bar when af is here
Does this mean anything
I'm obviously not fertile 26 days out of 32 as I;ve been ttc for 3 bloody years
Am worried it might mean hormone imbalance or something Anyone know owt about it?
?

bobblehead · 23/05/2006 14:54

Its very easy to get obsessed isn't it? Have you been ttc long? (sorry hope that is not too personal). I have just got first af since birth of dd so am hoping to see proper ferns for the first time this month!

Mirry71 · 23/05/2006 07:06

thanks bobblehead, am sure it is me just doing it wrong but is slightly worrying! will persevere and see what happens. i am finding all this so stressful which i am sure is not helping!

bobblehead · 22/05/2006 14:56

Hi Mirry, we all seem to be getting a bit pissed off with our scopes these days and I have heard people saying they are not reliable though I don't know why.

Make sure you aren't eating/drinking/brushing teeth less than 2 hours before hand, use plenty saliva and let it dry for ages (I never found the suggested 5-10 mins enough). It is possible you ovulate lter on in your cycle though.

HthSmile

Mirry71 · 22/05/2006 07:48

help! sorry am a newbie. got my isis scope last week and have been using it but nothing but blobs although on day 12. Could i be doing something wrong, or does this mean i'm not ovulating? i'm 35

bobblehead · 14/05/2006 22:05

Quick post while still on my hols (can't keep awayWink) to say hi all and sorry about bfn's and af Rubymummy and Buffy. My holiday hasn't exactly been relaxing so far, running after dd in un-baby proofed houses and catching up with relatives, but at least its taken my mind off ttc!
