Hi ladies,

For those of us out of the July game there are not many places to hide so I thought I'd start a new August thread to give us all some positive vibes!

Cycle 3 - BFP August 6th

kitty that's reassuring, thanks :)

My periods returned ages ago. They came back at 5 months, but we're doing extended BFing, DS is 3.5!

I can't remember if mine were regular when they came back. I just remember being disappointed it was only 5 months Sad

kittykatsforever · 24/07/2012 10:03

Auf it only acts as a contraceptive in so far as it stops your cycles, if you have got your period back it shouldn't affect fertility at all, my doctor said it was only really effective if you exclusively bf I.e before they were wiened aswell but even then I know people have been caught before then, when did your cycles return and have they been the same as before since? I only ask as I've only had 1 proper af since and wondered if I should expect the same length etc as last time

threeleftfeet · 24/07/2012 09:52

Does anyone know anything about BF and fertility? I understand that when you're exclusively BF it can work as a contraceptive, but those days are in the distant past now. I feed DS when it's my turn for bedtime (about every other night) and most mornings. None in the day - except on the (thankfully fairly rare) occasions that he's poorly.

Could that be affecting fertility at all? I thought not, but that's just my best guess! Does anyone know anything about it?

threeleftfeet · 24/07/2012 09:49

No worries DulcetMoans :)

threeleftfeet · 24/07/2012 09:49

Thanks Newbie :)

Hopefully I can pass them on to someone else next month then! Not getting my hopes up too much though as I've been doing this for a bit.

The sticks have given me a bit of hope though, that we're at least DTD at the right time.

My nipples felt strange yesterday. Like they did when I was pregnant last time. But at just 4 days past the +ve on the stick that would be impossibly early, wouldn't it? Just my body playing tricks on me I guess :)

DulcetMoans · 24/07/2012 09:47

Thanks aufanaie!!

Newbie2 · 24/07/2012 09:44

auf I don't think you need to keep testing. My cb OV instructions say stop once you've got your positive OV.

OP posts:
threeleftfeet · 24/07/2012 09:41

Do people generally carry on testing for OV after getting a +ve? I got a +ve after two days of POASing so I've got plenty of sticks left for next month (hopefully won't need them of course!)

threeleftfeet · 24/07/2012 09:40

Hi all, Have added DulcetMoans to the list as she was posting from her phone upthread.

Have also deleted one version of me as I started as Aranrhod, but namechanged to Aufaniae. Both are fertility godess names. Not superstitious in any way, but I like that they're apt :) Sorry to be confusing!

Hi all. Have re-posted as my date had got lost. I got my first smiley today on OPK which was nice to see especially as our anniversary tomorrow :)

Sorry to those of you having tough times at the moment. Here's hoping for some good luck for us all this month.

SunshineOutdoors · 23/07/2012 22:08

Hi everyone, bet some of you are coming up to ov time now and some already on 2ww???

winkle I'm glad to hear af came.... I was 42 days last cycle and it's annoying being late but at least you can start again now. I had quite a depressed spell at first but now feel ready to try again but feel a bit more relaxed about it this month.

Zeux im sorry to hear about job uncertainties. I don't really know your full situation but personally I wouldn't stop ttc. My feeling is it could take one month or it could take 5 years, you just don't know.... and you could have got pg and then been given the news, either way you'd deal with it. Any number of things could happen while you're pg or once you've had kids, but I reckon you'll be fine Smile

I've not posted for a bit as I got a bit pissed off with the bfn last month but I'm getting over it now.... just had a read through the thread... I hate that although July seemed really productive there's lots of posters I recognise on here.

Newbie2 · 23/07/2012 21:24

Zeux I'm sorry to hear your news! I've been interviewing people all day and it's amazing to hear how many redundancies are still going on. My job is always under threat for redundancy. I've adopted the attitude that it's not going to stop me from TTC as I refuse to put my life on hold...especially as my career would take a nose dive once on maternity anyway! Us ladies have so much to consider...men really don't get it!

OP posts:
Zeuxippe · 23/07/2012 21:03

Thanks everyone for the messages of support!! Found out we will go through one month of consultation and selection, then the dismissals will take effect. I wouldn't get much money, just a month's pay in lieu of notice and a month's redundancy money, even though I've been there nearly 5 years... Angry. Really p*ed off. It feels like sod's law given decision to ttc. And would you believe it will be the second time I've been through a redundancy process in under 6 months!

Sorry to rant.

Anyway, back to ttc. How early are people thinking of testing? bodi, are you planning to test at 10 dpo??

woody17 · 23/07/2012 20:47

Sorry to hear that zeux did they give you an idea of when you would know for certain? What do you do?

It's hard not to symptom spot, isn't it bodi

bodi · 23/07/2012 20:18

bad news zeux! I think sometimes if you look at all the facts then there's never a good time to have a baby but if you're lucky enough to conceive then you will always find a way around problems! Fx for you for good news about work though.

Still driving myself crazy with ov sticks and no sign of a positive. If my ambiguous +ve was actually right then i'm 8DPO and convincing myself that my boobs hurt and i'm feeling really tired! might have to crack out the hpt at the end of the week.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 23/07/2012 18:15

Oh zeux that's really shit news. Would you get a good payout if it happened? It is so hard when ttc, something always comes up to knock you off your stride.

Hope you keep your job. Actually if you get knocked up quickly it could protect you, employers are often terrified of sacking / making pregnant women redundant. Fx

Zeuxippe · 23/07/2012 14:21

Just been put at risk of redundancy at work this morning, talk about bad timing!!!

Feeling bloody-minded enough to still ttc in August, not sure whether that's wise though...

Sheep2345 · 23/07/2012 12:27

It was a non-hormanal coil and the GP said my fertility would return straight away so I'm not sure if this should have an affect on my ovulation.
My cycles are pretty regular at 28 days, I have had a few 30 days and a few 26 days over the last 18 months but I alwyas work to 28 days as thats what it averages out at.
I'm assuming I wont have a long enough LP if the OPK only showed +ve on Saturday and I ovulated 24-36 hours after that.
I wasnt expecting to SWI until next month so I suppose I've not lost or gained anything. Just hope I don't always ovulate on CD20 of a 28 day cycle as then I might encounter problems!

Ok thanks. I think I'll do what you do bodi some cheap internet ones and then the cb digital ones to confirm. I think I am going to be testing a lot over the next few weeks, as I have no idea when af is due because of mc. Am really hoping I can get pg before af comes back.

bodi · 22/07/2012 20:11

i am very irregular so using the internet cheapies otherwise i would spend a fortune but i do have clear blue digis aswell to confirm a positive.

winkle2 · 22/07/2012 19:03

I like the clearblue digis

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 22/07/2012 18:57

Hi woody & bodi not sure about what sticks to buy. I did have some Internet cheapies. During the chemical preg thing they came up completely negative but there was definitely a line on a clearblue test.

I know what you mean about the opk obsession, I use 4 a day sometimes.

bodi · 22/07/2012 17:19

Hi Woody,

I have been using the one step ones off Amazon which generally seemed to have good reviews. I am currently driving myself a bit crackers with the ov sticks though. Doing them twice a day and have now managed to convince myself that I ov'd last sunday (cd15) but only thought this in hindsight so have still been POASing. I am getting a faint line everyday but last couple of days line has been stronger - no idea what is going on so will keep POASing until get a +ve of AF comes.
