Help - Advice TTC after miscarriage

Hello - new on here but wondering if others can help/shed light on this. Had a miscarriage and ERPC end of May. I was about 11 weeks. Since then we've been TTC the whole time through. It's now like 41 days since the ERPC and still no AF and it's driving me mad as to whether I've even ovulated or whether I might be pregnant or not and whether AF is just going to appear. I have been doing OPK throughout this cycle but not from the very beginning as I had not thought of using them. They have always shown negative until last weekend when a faint second line was there. Pregnancy tests show negative. I just want to know. Confused

Thank you so much for your replies it really helps. Yep I'm back on with the ovulation sticks now and feel like I understand what my body is doing a bit more now than before. I'm tracking everything and trying to chart too so I can see what's happening. Has anyone used Evening Primrose Oil tablets to help?

snowcloud, hcg level of 1 means you are definitely not pregnant, and are very unlikely to have anything retained from your miscarriage. Anything under 5 is 'not pregnant'. Anything over 25 is. You have a clean slate! Any positive pg tests you get from now on are true positives.
I am a poster on the metallers thread, for people ttc or pregnant after mc. We call what you have been through the WTF cycle, because it can be so weird and unpredictable! Your body can take a few cycles to get back to normal post mc, but the first is usually the worst.
Are you taking any vitamins? Would recommend a good pregnancy or conception vitamin that has lots of B vitamins in, they are meant to help you get your cycle back on track. Lots of good food, sleep, and nice things too to help you feel better.
I'm very sorry for your loss, and for all you have been through. X

Hi Snowcloud

I have been lurking on your thread and just wanted to say yeah to getting your AF! Seems a weird thing to say congrats for but it must be a relief. I had a MC a week ago so my waiting game has just begun. x

teaandchocolate · 04/08/2012 21:37

Sorry I totally missed your other post! Thanks for your concern. I'm doing ok really, quite up & down but today's a positive day! Clinging onto the fact that even after 2 mcs I am still statistically more likely to have a baby than a mc next time...

Anyway really pleased your AF arrived!! At least you know your bodys doing what it's supposed to do. If you do find your cycles a bit messed up I definitely recommend accupuncture. Seemed to really help with ovulation...even if it couldn't get the bean to stick! Good luck!

snowcloud · 04/08/2012 20:59

Day 66 and AF arrived. Need some hope now for a fresh start x

I'm sorry for your losses. I hope you are ok. Thank you for your reply. I rang up the doctors to day and got an appointment straight away this time so went and she took 2 blood tests I think she said it was for HCG levels. Will have to wait a few days for any news I think.

I think the progesterone acts a bit like the pill - builds up the lining of your uterus while you take it & when you stop you bleed. The dr should check you're not pregnant 1st by a scan or blood test (if you know by dates when you DTD etc that you couldn't be pregnant.). It's not the taking it during a pregnancy that would cause a problem, it's the stopping it and having a bleed. After the scan the dr said that my body was trying to have a period but my hormone levels just weren't surging enough.

Although I do think it's pretty normal for your cycles to be messed up after a mc. It's just very annoying. After my 3 rd I had a period after 6 wks then nothing for about 8 weeks. I then discovered I was pregnant (so must have ovulated on day 50 or something ridiculous). I unfortunately just lost that one too so actually wish I'd waited for my body to get back to normal properly before ttc. Not sure if the latest mc & mad cycles are related.

Also definitely found accupuncture helped regulate things so that might be worth a go too.

Hi, thank you so much teaandchocolate. I'm day 63 now still nothing. I've not been back to the doctors yet. I kept thinking I might get some news before I have to go back. How does the Progesterone work? I would be worried if I'd managed to get pregnant and then it got rid of it. x

Hi snowcloud. Sorry you're having such a rubbish time. I just wanted to say that after my 1st erpc I didn't have a period for months. Erpc was in April and by August id had no af just random brown spotting. I went to a private gynaecologist as was sick of getting fobbed off by my gp. Private dr scanned me to check I wasnt preg & then prescribed progesterone which I took for a week or so then stopped & had a 'period'. Ended up getting pregnant with my DD 2 weeks later!! The dr told me my cycles were probably messed up due to stress but it's impossible not to stress! I also have pcos which doesn't help. Unfortunately I've recently had my 3rd mc & the consultant I'm seeing now said that no period for 12 weeks is totally normal after a mc...just soooo annoying!

Anyway just thought I'd add my experience as you could reuquest a progesterone induced period which I think helped clear me out & kick start my cycle.

Good luck with it all - mc is hideous!
