We have been trying since May 2004 with no joy 2 early mcs.and a bit of a break for me,we have charted, temped, and used persona for 2 mths after that i had to give myself a break after a lot of tears and feelings of emptiness i at last feel ready to try again,so any tips old wives or otherwise will be very gratefully accepted.I have just booked my first appointment to try reflexology. We have both had all the fertility tests and both of us are fine so onwards and upwards for us again.Until our beanie baby makes a long awaited appearance and i at last see the 2 blue lines that dont disappear after a week or so.

this is gonna sounds bonkers but 2 of my friends who were trying to get pregnant, after sex they got their husbands to shake them by their legs. both got pregnant straight away.its supposed to shake the sperm up to the eggs quicker.(or something like that)

One other piece of advice I've been given is 75mg of aspirin a day (you can get these from the chemist, don't need a prescription). Some friends of mine didn't conceive for about 3 years, eventually went to a consultant who recommended this trying this first, and she was pregnant the next month. Too thick blood can be a cause of early miscarriage - and if it isn't, the dose is so low that it can't hurt. The consultant said to them that this is something that should be more widely known as it would save a lot of heartache.

I started on this in Jan, along with a course of reflexology (which is so wonderfully relaxing that it can't but help) and have just got a BFP. Might be coincidence, but who knows.

And I know just what you mean about work - someone brought their new baby in on what would have been my due date had I not miscarried. I couldn't stand it.

I am so sorry that it is taking a while to get your baby. I agree with expat that you should give your body the best chance - eat healthily, dont' smoke and cut right back on the booze. I think this applies to men as well. Taking zinc is supposed to improve the quality of sperm so pop out to Superdrug and get DP / DH a supply.

It is much easier said than done, but try to to get too stressed as that makes conception more difficult. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you both and hoping you have some good news soon.

Hi Debbsy,

I am very sorry that you are having and have had such a hard time with regards to ttc.

Have you really had all the tests done, the following tests tend to be omitted (I have listed them for you). People do say that they had all the tests done when it turns out that the opposite is true.

The following tend to be omitted in the course of fertility investigations:-
Adequate x-rays of the uterus which may show abnormalities not seen at laparoscopy in either the tubes or uterine cavity.

Hysteroscopy - telescope inspection of the inside of the uterus which may occasionally show abnormalities not otherwise seen.

Carefully timed post coital testing to see if sperms are surviving in the cervix

Repeated sperm counts over several weeks and months to make certain there is no subtle abnormality

Testing the sperm in special media - such as swim tests or velocity testing. When this is done it can sometimes uncover a hidden cause for the supposed "unexplained" problem.

Thorough hormone tests to detect abnormalities of male hormone or early falls in progesterone.

Scanning of the ovaries to see if follicles really are developing and there is no sign of polycystic ovaries.

If some of the above tests have been done then you have not been investigated properly as a couple. Something is sadly amiss here fertility wise and you are actually well beyond the stage of temp charting and such like.

Any test results over six months old should be discounted.

I would give the reflexology a go (well it won't do you any harm) but would suggest also that you make an appointment with your GP to be re-referred back to another subfertility unit (not the one you previously went to).

HTH

It will happen for you both, I'm sureSmile, try taking pregnacare whilst conceiving.
Good luck!

Are you really, really good at checking your cm? Do you take evening primrose oil, flax seed etc. to help with it? there's also a particular cough syrup that can help too. It's the expectorant kind, you can google cough syrup cervical mucous and get it.

This one may sound a little far out, but there's a book called Spirit Babies that guides you into tapping into your future baby's spirit and communicating on some level. I think this part is important to some extent because your head and heart have to be in the game as well IYKWIM.

Dubliner - great advice. A good simple to follow plan. I like your post.

Dubliner · 02/03/2006 00:20

Hi Debbsy, in the same boat, well...already have a child, have been trying for a new baby on and off (not actively, just using no contraception) since last August.

It's great news that you are both healty! The baby will come, it's just soooo hard to wait, isn't it?

Recenly got the advice below for trying to concieve, I hope and pray it'll wok for both of us. :)

""Try" every other night starting Day 8.
Buy 10 ovulation predictor kit sticks.
Begin ovulation testing on Day 10.
When test is positive, "try" that night, plus two additional nights in a row.
Skip one night, then do one last "try".
Take a home pregnancy test 15 days after your ovulation test was positive, if your period has not begun.
If your ovulation test never goes positive, continue "trying" every other night until Day 35, then do a pregnancy test if your period has not begun."

I followed some of the dietary advice given on \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?reverse=1&topicid=1366&threadid=18746&rnd=009533740157053494\this thread}. Twiglett's messages have been withdrawn, but as indicated by a response to her, I think one of the things she recommended was taking evening primrose oil up to ov (but not after). It's supposed to increase your cervical mucous.

Good luck.

If you or your partner smoke, stop. If you are overweight, try to lose weight.

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems and hope you fall pregnant soon.
