I saw an interview with Lord Winston, the human reproduction legend, about the news that menopause could soon be delayed indefinitely thanks to medical advances and he was strongly of the view that women in their mid-50s are not too old to be mothers considering how much healthier women are now and how much longer they are living for. I hope the NHS do revise their policy as it is very outdated.

Solars, am v much thinking of you and hoping you are okay. Don't rule a natural BFP out, but if you do go ahead with private treatment there is the possibility at some clinics (maybe even all) to get free treatment if you donate eggs at the same time. I don't know where you stand on that but it may be something you would want to look into.

Solars I am still brooking for you too. And I am outraged that you are being denied IVF due to your age. Fertility treatment seems to vary so much across the country, which seems to unfair given that we have bodies like NICE to try to standardise things and stop 'postcode prescribing' as it used to be called. It might be worth looking up the NICE guidance on fertility treatment to see if it specifies an upper age limit - I seem to remember hearing recently that this was being recommended to be increased to 43 or something. Maybe a letter to your Hospital Trust quoting these might help (if I'm right).

Gosh, private fertility treatment is expensive! Obviously solars won't need it as AF will be staying away - still brooking.

Although I have been being very helpful to poor burnt out souls elsewhere and not doing ANY troll hunting, no sirree elsewhere, I've been avoiding this thread so I don't mental too much. Symptoms come and go. At the moment, I'm feeling very sick, so I am being a Bad Mother and DS is sitting next to me in bed watching Postman Pat (he is a shockingly bad postman!). Scan next week and we'll see how things are going then, so I won't be around much but I am lurking and brooking.

IVF is expensive, but it will be so worth it when you get to hold your baby. We are all here brooking for you lovely Solars so can lean on us whilst you build your strength again.

It really is Face the clinic I was looking at apparently send the samples of to the US for in depth testing. I think it is a far more researched area over there than it is here

In all honesty Maybe not feeling too good, but i'm trying to be really positive about everything, also heard some sad news at the weekend that my SIL had a miscarriage recently and they're trying for their 3rd! IVF just seems so expensive too but we feel we have to give it a shot at least once. By the way that NK cell testing is a lot!

god it is expensive isnt it! im happily in the dark about how much treatments cost at the moment untill we have our intial app

Face I know what you mean about the GP. Their hands are tied up until a certain point. I looked on one clinics website, and it was over £700 to have the NK cell tests. And that's before any treatment for it. Really just not something we could even consider at the moment.

Thank you Keep & Gen for thinking of me, no show of af at the weekend but i've had a little spotting today so I don't think it's my month! Also we heard back from the hospital about IVF and we've been told were not eligible due to being too old :( we've decided to go private but not yet discussed how far we'll take it! Will try and catch up properly tomorrow!

I have heard of him Face though I know very little about him. Is it an NHS appointment, or is it private (if you don't mind me asking)? My accu lady wants me to have my NK cells tested, but it is so expensive!

at the moment on my birthday she offered us two dates and i said the 9th of aug not the 2nd. but when my conformation came throu she'd booked it on the 2nd. d'oh!

My craniosacral therapy took an interesting turn this week though, she was trying to manipulate my pituitary gland through the inside of my mouth. Luckily I don't really have a gag reflex

imps glad that you are chilling out about ttc. are you going to get the tests rolling, as they do take a while. I was actually talking about our plan for next year as in when we would start to think about IVF etc, rather than a plan B with no babies. That is not an option for us, we def want a family, and I would adopt if that was the only way. In fact, I have thought for a while I would adopt a third child anyway. But anyway, I think you are still young so there is no rush for you to make any decisions, and leave it to fate for a while :)

sparks what op is your grammy having? Keeping fingers crossed for the sparkly family. Sorry I have no idea about your chart. Any reason for funny temps earlier in the month? I would have thought you have most likely ovulated, but keep doing it EOD for a while. your dh will therefore not think you are just in it for ovulation, so it's a win-win!

maybe glad to hear you'll be ov-ing soon. i am going to do acu when we get to thailand, and even dh (a very sceptical doctor) said he'd do it if there's some evidence so I'd better scrape around on google to find something pseudo-scientific at least.

Maybs It went really well, the rain held off after the ceremony and the group photos, long enough for the kinds to play on the massive lawn, blow off some steam!! I spent most of the day looking at my nephew, who is by far the cutest child I've ever know (well equal to my other neices and nephews) but he did become pretty obsessed with me, and then threw a tantrum sunday morning when I was saying goodbye!!

Morning all. Our leaving party was lovely, thanks. We don't actually leave our house until the end of the month, and then fly Aug 10th, but it was the only date we could get the venue we wanted.

My amazing mummy friends made me a bag out of harris tweed, and then got about 10 friends to knit/ crochet flowers for it. Pics on FB.

imps I love your preparedness-o-meter. I think we're getting there. We get packers, so it's just a case of deciding what to take, what to keep in storage and what to get rid of. I think our local charity shop is going to do rather well.

Operation Prove Twunt Wrong is going well thanks, 2 accupunctures down, wheat free sugar free diet is actually great, and feeling a bit better about it all.
