Any older mums ttc (late 30s)?

I was just wondering how many of the ttc people were in their late 30s or 40s.

I am 38 and started ttc this year. It would be nice if we could support each other.

I'm not sure if I qualify for late 30's, am 36! Assume so. Anyway, question for you. This would have been my 3rd round of trying (would say three months but my periods are 35 days long at least!) and have missed a period. However, not sure I could be pregnant coz AF was due beg. last week, didn't BD since 17th Sept and instead of AF beg. last week got brown slimy stuff (TMI sorry!) I personally think that I BD too long ago for this missed period to be because I'm pregnant, I thought it could be due to the stress of ttc that's doing it. Now, I think I've come down with virus, coz I felt nauseous on Fri, now bloated, pains down below, breathless, feel like someone's punched me in stomatch! Plus got lots and lots and lots of white / clear discharge. Do you think I could still be pregnant??! Or am I just ill?! Sorry for long msg...

Juicy, don't let that worry you! Doesn't really matter that you are the oldest.

If I ever get my bfp, I am sure I will be the oldest on the antenatal thread too

Have just posted my stats on the May 2006 antinatal thread and I'm the oldest.

Now slightly depressed...

Sorry to confuse - have changed my name. Angsthase was confusing for most folk anyway!

K1K2 - you meant a BFP, right??!!

Just to let you know I too got a BFP and am now 6w+3. At the ripe old age of 39. I too had an missed mc in May.

I got a scan on Tuesday as there was some spotting freaking me out and there was a heartbeat. I have another one in 3 weeks. The EPU at the Royal in London just rock.

I saw on another thread today that Nicola is having an ERPC today. Very

Hello to all- its been 3 months since I was on on this site, 3 months of false hope and false alarms, but for the second time this year (mc in May) I have a BFN at nearly 43! Nicola 63 , Sideways, Evenhope ( belated congrats by the way how are you doing??) and Anghtase (keep the faith , girl!)I hope you are all doing fine and keeping positive...here is another positive affirmer that you can conceive at our age. This time round , I am trying not to shout it from the roof tops like I did the last- my husband doesn't even know and I am going to try and keep it from him for as long as I possibly can, until well after the nuchal scan. He said that if anything happens again like last time he said that this would be it and we wouldn't try again , so if anything does happen this time , if he doesn't know - I am in with a chance to try again. Though I don't know how many times I could put myself through the heart ache... so many strong women do. Well I am wishing my life away to get past these first few months, fingers crossed everything remains sticky , good luck to everyone else. (¸.·´ .·´

Thanks Speedymama. Need all the good stories I can hear. x

speedymama · 12/09/2006 16:36

I was at a meeting today and was speaking to a fellow colleague who I had just met. We got onto the subject of children. She was 40yo when she married her husband who is younger than she. They decided to start trying for a baby straight away and nothing happened so they tried IVF treatment for a couple of years. Again nothing happened. By this time she was 45yo and they decided to adopt. They were well into the adoption process when she discovered, at age 46yo, that she had fallen pregnant naturally! She gave birth to a healthy baby boy. He is now 5yo and and the joy of her life. She gave up her career (city accountant)to be with him and has taken a part-time job now that he is at school.

I thought I would share that because it really made my day and I felt overjoyed for her. Don't give up ladies.

Angsthase · 11/09/2006 13:56

How we doing girls?
CD21 here. May know CD28, but if it's like other 2 AF's since m.c. will be CD31 before I find out.
Defo won't test before CD31 either way.
I hate that age is against me. Really starting to pee me off.

Hope everyone is more upbeat than me

Wingey old bitch that I am

maddymax · 04/09/2006 14:48

Sorry to hear that littlestar I know how much of a let down it is.

Sideways, haven't been late at all while ttc this time, always bang on time think thats why I'd got my hopes up.

I'm hoping that if I start charting I might find out that I ovulate at a funny time or something and that we've been BD at the wrong time.

I've had the results of a blood test back from my GP that seems to show everythings 'normal' but I'm going back to chat to her about it.

Anyway more important things to think about at the moment - my eldest starts infants school tomorrow, one less 'baby' in the nest.

littlestar · 04/09/2006 10:19

Me too maddy, AF came this morning. I was feeling so sick last night, but it must just have been something I ate. Better luck next time, eh girls x

sideways · 03/09/2006 22:27

Bad luck maddy, sorry it didn't happen this time . Are you often late?

OP posts:
maddymax · 03/09/2006 21:15

Well I knew it was too good to be true - AF arrived this morning. Major disappointment but such is life I suppose. Back to the drawing board ( or temp chart).

Fingers still crossed for you littlestar. XX

littlestar · 03/09/2006 07:36

Thnak you. Still no sign of AF but I'm not sure how long to leave it before I do a third test - I can't face another disappointment! Good luck Maddy x

sideways · 02/09/2006 20:39

Hi littlestar, welcome . I hope you get the result you want.

You too maddy!

PS if I have managed to get pg I'm sure reading everyones stories on MN helped - it stopped me feeling so uptight and panicky.

maddymax · 02/09/2006 17:44

Hello littlestar, I'm new to MN and only posted for the first time last week. I've been ttc for 8 months and was all ready to start a new regime (taking temp, checking CM etc.) after AF arrived. But I'm now 5 days late and trying to hold off testing for a little while as I'm frightened of a BFN.

Hope you end up with your BFP - there are lots of people on here who have got BFNs early on only to get their BFP later - heres hoping.

littlestar · 02/09/2006 10:16

Please can I join in? I'm 37, AF is almost a week late (I'm usually pretty regular) but I've had 2 BFN's this week. We have only been ttc for 3 months which I realise isn't very long at all. But I got pregnant with DS first time (he's now 17 months) so I naively assumed it would be plain sailing second time around.

I've been feeling nauseous and having mood swings, weird metallic taste (and even pimples!), but it seems like it's all psychosomatic and I'm really fed up! As ever, reading mumsnet has cheered me up immensely and reminded me I'm not alone.

sideways · 01/09/2006 10:15

Just wondering how everyone is doing. No news here yet!

Betty and tissey - what great stories and tissey best of luck if you are pg. Starting to feel really positive now and I've bought Toni Weschlers book thats been mentioned a couple of times. (Just hope I get a bit of peace to read it.)

Angsthase · 22/08/2006 08:53

Thanks girls for your positive stories. Really cheers me up and gives me hope. Keep em comin'

tissey · 22/08/2006 08:14

Hi, good to know there are plenty of us older mums out there, I have 3 children(sorry not used to all abb yet) 26 24 & 4, had last one at 41, big gap 2nd marriage, fell quite easily some bleeding for a few months came to conclusion may have lost a twin, anyway he was fine and I had him at home as planned, with amazing support from my midwife, only started reading mumsnet as I think i may be pg at 46 (not planned)sorry to go on, bit nervous.

sideways · 21/08/2006 19:18

Hi maddy, welcome . I hope you get your result soon. There's plenty of support to be found here and on the other ttc threads.

Betty - that's a lovely story, congratulations! I think one of the problems can often be that we try so hard and become so obseeses, then when we relax (not that I would know about the realxing bit!) it sometimes happens.
