ok. hope the link works , not sure if it will as i normally have to log in /stay logged in to see my chart. the extra info would be i had some EGCM on CD12 (second day of bleeding- which was just spotting) and the positive opks, the first was the evening , the next the following morning. negatives on either side of that.

yes, the second guessing all the time, time consuming. I'm with you on charting though, it is generally helpful for me, though after the thermal shift i see little practical use for me. Also i like knowing what my body is doing. its not fail-proof by any means though and when you get thrown a curve ball like this month it does my head in! a change from ov on CD 13 to CD 15 also now means even longer until i can test! pity those people with extremely long cycles. I temp orally, i do know it not the most reliable way to take them, maybe i should move to temping vaginally? i'm not sure i'd hear the bleep though. what a thing to talk about!!

Pipbin · 05/08/2012 23:16

Oh Blackcats. This whole thing of TTCing is a complete bitch isn't it. Trying to second guess everything is so all consuming.
It was odd talking to my friends about all of this as their baby was a first cycle wonder. They were waiting a cycle after coming of the pill to begin TTCing only to find that she was pg!
It was good to vocalise why I find charting etc so helpful. They asked that surely it means that each failed month is a greater disappointment as so much emphasis had been put on it. I said that it meant that I knew we had done all we could.

Anyway, could the rise in temp be due to the thrush? Can we stalk your chart Black?

blackcatsdancing · 05/08/2012 10:27

sorry to hear that pipbin but sounds like some positive things too. Glad talking openly to your friends has been helpful :)

FF has moved my ov day from CD13 to CD15, which pisses me off massively as we havent DTD since CD13 (i've had a nasty bout of thrush). its been changed due to a massive rise in temp today. almost all studies say that ov occurs within 12- 36 hours of your first positive opk, 36 hours for me would be around 8pm on CD14, my temp was down the next morning, not up. I know it can sometimes be delayed, there have been a couple of studies showing it was as late as 50 hours after the surge! if that is true for me means sex was a bit far off. really pissed off now. Its a nightmare isnt it? now i'm left thinking if only we'd DTD the following night as well. feel like i'm going to be out this month.

Pipbin · 05/08/2012 00:49

Well AF turned up eventually. However my LP was 14 days with very little spotting really.

We have been spending the weekend with friends and their 10 month old and talking very openly about TTCing which has been therapeutic to do.

blackcatsdancing · 03/08/2012 16:28

glad you're feeling ok with the pregnancy treats. hope the cough doesn't linger too much.

lbot my temps are a bit unreliable this month due to me being lazy on days off and not temping at same time. I had very positive OPKs on the evening of CD13 and morning of CD14, then before and after those times it was negative, i'm assuming i ovulated CD14 as it surely would have been a few hours after my first positive OPK, though i suppose it could have happened overnight and the next morning the OPK was still very positive but obviously on way down . anyway without a scan showing exact moment i know it can never be an exact science. Generally pleased that we got in 2 good chances this month and that i got 2 proper positives- i've never had 2 positive OPKS before!

I have already decided to give TTC only until the end of this year, maybe even stop before then. I have come or am coming to terms with thought that it may not happen- and that being ok for us, we both have our own children, just not one together and i've started to think about other things I'd like to do. I used to be quite creative and that's gone by the wayside a long time ago. Thinking about resurrecting that , and also trying to find new friends as that is something I lack.

Treats · 03/08/2012 16:08

Hi ladies - nice of you to ask Wink. I'm doing OK actually - as with both previous pregnancies, I haven't had any morning sickness or any awful tiredness. But I'm only 5+6, so that might still be to come.

I HAVE got an appalling cough though and went back to the GP about it this morning. I've been awake two nights in a row now spluttering my guts out. Nothing to do with the pregnancy, of course, but it's not very nice.

lbot - I second blackcats. I felt a bit the same a few months ago when all my tests came back normal because I wanted something to be 'fixed' and magically make me pregnant. But give it a few days and you will feel better for knowing that everything's OK. Which just means that it's a matter of time. Great to have that insight into when you're going to ovulate this month! Maybe you're two weeks pregnant already Grin

lastboxoftampons · 03/08/2012 16:01

Thanks, Blackcats. I know, I know, it's a GOOD thing that nothing is wrong! Have to keep telling myself that Smile

I'm not actually being "treated" as such, seeing as when I first saw the doctor we hadn't even been trying for 6 months yet. I originally went in under the guise of being concerned about my wonky cycle. But seeing as we're now mid- 7th month, and I've checked out okay, I think it's a good idea DH has his swimmers looked at. He did go for an SA when we were TTC DS, but that was 4 years ago. At that point, all was fine with count, volume, etc, but his morph was borderline low.

Meant to ask you Blackcats - what do you think of your chart? Is there another temp shift on CD15 to make you think you ov'd on CD14?

blackcatsdancing · 03/08/2012 15:42

that's great news lastbox. i completely understand the desire to know what it wrong as it seems better than the uncertainty but having something wrong with you really isn't better! Take it as something very positive. I'm slightly surprised your partner hasn't had a SA yet as i was under impression they like to treat both partners at same time to avoid wasting too much time on endless tests on the woman when could be partner all along.

anyway who said anything has to be wrong ? hasn't someone on here already said that spotting isn't necessarily an issues when TTC? Could you start your own thread on MN re spotting? I know acupuncture is supposed to be good re cycles and spotting. Can be pricey but the woman i saw also does a drop in clinic which is far cheaper than going to her house.
anyway, clear your timetable and get in plenty of SWI !! When i had my early scan (on baby) she pointed out the follicles waiting in my ovaries which i found very reassuring, not that they have done much since...

i wondered how treats was feeling also.

lastboxoftampons · 03/08/2012 13:44

Hi guys - had my scan yesterday which revealed a big fat nothing! No fibroids, no polyps, all normal. So in a way it's comforting, but on the other hand, what the hell is wrong with me that I spot for practically the majority of my cycle then? Anyway, a very cool thing was that they were able to confirm ovulation as they saw two follicles - one 16mm and one 14mm - that will likely pop in the next few days. They actually told me to go home and SWI for the next three or so nights! And also said that endometrium looked fine and healthy. So all good news but thnk our next plan is for DH to have an SA and I think I might give accupuncture a go starting next cycle. Also hoping to do some yoga on a regular basis.

Squirrel - good plan. Am also trying to 'forget about it' in the 2ww. Good luck!

Flying - fingers crossed for you! Are you going to test?

Treats - how are you feeling?

Pip - sorry to hear about the spotting. Hoping you're still in the game!

Flyingwithoutwings · 03/08/2012 11:01

Not sure how I feel tbh. Not going to test, not getting hopeful hides head in sand
Going to follow the policy that it's too late now and I can't do anything to change it.

Feel shattered and a bit snappy though... Which would indicate AF is on the train for a visit Sad

blackcatsdancing · 03/08/2012 10:38

hmm yes i also agree, now i've had my thermal shift there is no point really in temping until after AF. in fact the whole reason i started temping in the first place was that i read that an OPK surge did not guarantee you actually go on to ovulate and as i'd been on the pill for so many years and taking into account my age i did wonder if i was even ovualting, for all i knew the pill could have masked all sorts of issues!

Treats · 03/08/2012 10:15

I agree Squirrel - I think you can have too much information. Temp taking every day is useful to know what's going on, but it does mean you're always thinking about your cycle, and it's good to have a few days break from all the over-analysing!

Enjoy your break pipbin

Squirrel77 · 03/08/2012 10:08

Good luck Pip!

I am trying a new thing this month to stop myself freaking out in the TWW - I have stopped taking my temps after ovulation, have the odd drink, and remind myself when necessary that it is not possible to have pregnancy symptoms at this point! Seems to be much better for my mental health.

My stuff for Clearblue trial arrived, but disappointingly they've just sent the OPKs, not the CBFM. Not sure I want to continue with it as I already use OPKs.

Hope all is well with everyone Smile

blackcatsdancing · 03/08/2012 10:03

yes good luck pipbin.
flying do you feel at all hopeful this cycle? can't remember if you ever test early. sorry about the cold, hope it goes soon.

i'm CD 16 and fertility friend has just given me the crosslines for ovulation on CD13, i'm not sure about that though. i had a positive OPK the following morning as well as on the afternoon of the CD13. anyway whether it was CD13 or CD14 we are covered with having had swi at the right time.

Flyingwithoutwings · 03/08/2012 08:20

Oooo, fingers and toes firmly crossed for you pipbin

AF is due tomorrow / Sunday for me. Got a crappy cold atm and feel nauseous, but I think it's the cold making me feel ill Sad

Pipbin · 02/08/2012 17:16

Well AF is still missing in action.
I'm away now and won't be home to test until Monday.

OP posts:
blackcatsdancing · 02/08/2012 08:09

also quite a lot of lower abdominal pain last night, and i haven't been doing sit ups!
grr cursing myself now for my late temp taking as it renders my chart this month difficult/worthless.

blackcatsdancing · 02/08/2012 08:01

have you tested pipbin ? good to know you dont have to wait ages for your scan.

temp still up but bit less than yesterday. this months temps are all over the place for 2 reasons, when we had that hot spell i think that pushed my temp up a bit but mainly as i've been on holiday i've been waking later so not taking temps consistently at the right time. Then i had that 2 days of bleeding. anyway shall try not to stress and trust that i have ovulated, will do another opk this morning and try to DTD today just in case. frustrating when your usual pattern isn't being followed!!

Pipbin · 01/08/2012 20:46

Well AF is still missing in action. Bit of spotting this morning but nothing else since.

HSG appointment is for the 17th.

OP posts:
blackcatsdancing · 01/08/2012 19:56

oh, did another OPK, was negative at 7pm today so looks like i ovulated today. am expecting bigger temp rise tomorrow . nice to get a proper positive, quite rare for me, guess the thing to take from that is that testing twice a day when close to ov works better .

blackcatsdancing · 01/08/2012 19:52

lbot is your scan this week then? good luck with it. i guess they will know straight away if anything is wrong won't they??

Pipbin- when is your scan for?

Pipbin · 01/08/2012 11:52

I'm sure AF is on her way now, she'll be here before the end of the day.
I've just booked my HSG appointment.

OP posts:
blackcatsdancing · 01/08/2012 11:24

well tested again and another positive OPK , this time at 11am. strange as after my temp being up this morning i guess i thought i'd have ovulated in the night. i'll test again tonight. love how baffling it can be at times!

hope everyone has a good day. i'm off out, had a few days off work and good news on the job front- the cut in my hours is to be made up in a way that's acceptable to me so pleased with that and there is even the possibility of maybe extra hours on a permanent basis.

Treats · 01/08/2012 09:54

Hi lbot - great to hear from you. Glad your DS had a lovely birthday. I went to the technical rehearsal last Monday - it was absolutely brilliant. DH has been working on the Olympics for the last 5 years, and I'm so glad he got the opportunity to actually experience the stadium. We also went to the basketball last Sunday and are going to the tennis tomorrow. And the cycle road races both came very close to where we live so we went out to watch the men's on Saturday.

Thanks for your thoughts about not underestimating the baby. That's a lovely way to think about it. The fact that it's in there at all is - to me - something of a miracle (I'm still a bit mystified about the timings), so it's already overcome the odds afaic. I was thinking this morning about how useful it's been to have a toddler in the house over these last few months. DD only lives for the moment - she's already forgotten things that happened in the past, and she has no concept of anything happening in the future - the only thing that matters to her is what's happening now. And that's exactly what I need to do right now.

Yes - I probably will be referred to the consultant at some stage, but only - I imagine - so that we can plan the delivery, not because my last experience makes me an especially high risk.

Good luck for this month!

blackcats - fx for you too. Glad you managed to dtd last night - sounds like you might have timed it right.

Pipbin - annoying of AF to taunt you like that. is it worth testing again?.........

blackcatsdancing · 01/08/2012 09:01

that's strange pipbin.

well i'm CD14 and temp up this morning. yesterday did 2 opks, the one at 1.30pm was negative, but the one at 8.30pm was a positive ( i think). i left it and forgot to return in time but when i looked it was very dark. Now its faded so half the line is as dark as the control, half isn't, i think that counts as a +
will do another later this morning, am expecting it to be lighter. i seem to ovulate very soon after my surge, also my surge seems to be very short.
managed to dtd last night and night before, also it wasn't done as swi, just because we wanted to- especially last night. Feeling good in general last night and so far today- i've been bit down recently .
