right, so that sounds very promising. No wonder you couldn't get pregnant if possibly both were blocked. So by the sound of it there's one fully up and running and another has doubts over it but may even be ok. You seem quite upbeat. Are they going to look into the suspect tube again? and when are you due to ovulate?? I'd be eager to get in there this month if it isn't too late.

Hi pipbin, so it sounds like you have a blocked tube? and may have had two but one was possibly cleared by the procedure today? One blocked tube is def doable to conceive and I've heard of many women on MN who have done so.

He is the most unpleasant GP at the surgery. I wrote a complaint letter about him a while ago but decided not to hand in as I was rather touchy at the time (PND) so worried I was over sensitive.
Got the appointment after my smear on Wed and was surprised I got one (normally have to ring in the morning along with the rest of the town) but I think most people would rather see anyone but him as his bedside manner is.... Well, let's just say he missed the training in empathy..

I'll be 40 in December, that was always going to be our "stop trying time"

However before i start on about the amount of women who do have healthy babies even over the age of 40 i always think it is wise to consider what life would be like when we don't get what we want and to try to make the most of that. You are lucky in that you have a child and are a mother, same as I am. I too have started looking at not exactly the advantages of not having another but the different way my life will go and the different things I will be doing. It is very hard to give up on the future we wanted though and a painful process to go through. I know many women suffering from secondary infertility say on MN that they get cross when they are told to count themselves lucky as it seems to say they shouldn't feel pain and sadness, i don't mean to imply that at all. Of course it is painful and of course they should expect to be taken seriously and have investigations . I suppose i just feel for myself that I am always so bloody grateful to have had my own healthy child when there are many who don't and so many things that could have gone wrong .

It doesn't sound to me like you've reached the end of the road yet, just heard some unpleasant things from a GP that would upset anyone. If i'd just been told that I would be so upset. Please don't give up yet. You seem a long way off that.

just been to the GP who "kindly" pointed out that I'm getting old and there's lots of risks especially of Downs.
He also said the strange periods might be down to my age and that my body is shutting that bit down etc

Having a blood test on Monday for hormones and thyroid (lack of weight loss despite going to gym classes and sweating my arse off 2/3/4 times a week)

Have a form to book in for a scan (book in 2 working days) to check for fibroids.

I think this might be the end of TTC for me.

But it's not the end of the world, I've got a gorgeous DS and, if he's an only child, there's a good chance I can pay for public school when he goes to senior school (I'll be full time then), that's if our local school doesn't improve massively in the next 8 years - it really is a dreadful school.

So there are positives... And I feel like we are functioning quite nicely without nappies, feeds and nap ruling my life...

Sorry you're feeling down Pip, but your DH sounds like he's got a really good view on things. And you're so right about not knowing the whole picture. I know it feels like we're alone in this but so many people take longer than 2 months to get pg.

6dpo and have the best chart I've had since I was pg with DS, but I'm feeling super cranky and moody today, so I'm sur it's only a matter of time.

Maybe in the past it would have been more obvious if people were having problems conceiving as babies would have been expected to start coming soon after marriage. Couples had little options other than to adopt.
