The BESH Republic Of Rulvakia

Welcome to The BESH Republic Of Rulvakia. The national drink is of course gin, state funded to get you into a state. We have many traditions and customs, such as sechsing, swearing for the fun of it (optional) and urinating on little white sticks.
Enemy of the state is Droid, who must be heckled heartily should it put in an appearance. There is an ongoing lottery to win a baybee, being granted citizenship of The Republic is your ticket to the lottery.

As a democracy all members are entitled to put forward any customs or rules they would like and we can all adopt important but silly titles if we like. See the George Carlin sketch about hats and religion and make your own mind up about whether you would like a ceremonial hat to accompany whichever title/role you bestow upon yourself.

Newcomers should find and complete the BESHtionnaire so we can make sure you are cynical and non-fluffy enough to be granted Citizenship.

:( bugs. Have a rather unMNetty/BESH like That's just.... :(

Yes to the positive vibes for sinky and the ivf appointment. It does sound like a long way off but it'll roll round before you know it.

I iz super tired. Suspect blame lies with pain/poor sleep/impending droid. Dinner then early to bed to watch Hart of Dixie. My new fave :)

Yes I am pretty pissed off! How many people know?! She refused to tell me who told her. It was common knowledge that I was on hospital but I did tell people I was a surgical outlier. Actually the more I think about it, the more pissed off I am!

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 17:06

oh faith that sort of thing would really piss me off and actually given how much confidentiality is a part of what you do I'd be quite indignant at this being spread around.
My Auntie didn't even tell my Uncle that she saw me on a regular basis because it would divulge that I was a patient at the practice she worked at, even though she knew I wasn't bothered she took the confidentialty issue very seriously.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 16:45

Oh help, I was just asked at the end of a meeting if I am diffed. Apparently 'someone told her that'. Which I presume means someone knows I was on the gynae ward and has put two and two together and made baybee! She works at another site in the trust so God knows how many people have heard this rumour, maybe even my boss!!!. What's more embarrassing than asking someone if they're diffed when they're not? Being the person being asked. What's the most mortifying thing ever? Being asked if you're diffed when you're not and desperately want to be :( Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 14:30

I am so tired from a combo of pain killers and the heat. I'm killing time til a meeting at 3. Wibu to snooze on the desk?!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 13:15

I have flat feet so I can't wear ballet pumps either. I'd say go for a 'capsule' wardrobe - lots of separates that go with other things. I'd usually take pretty much what you are - swim wear, Cropped trousers, shorts, various vests and t-shirts, shirts to cover up with, nice tops and skirts for evenings and a couple of dressed. I bought a pair of white wedge mules 6 years ago!! for a holiday with my sister which I wear virtually every night on holiday. So comfy but give me a bit of height. Sounds luffly queenie I'm a bit Envy but I do have a 5 day weekend coming up and hopefully I'll be home for it!!
Sorry to hear of droid's arrival euro :( You definitely seem in a better place emotionally so it seems it was worth having these couple of months before proceeding. No it wasn't meant to be this way but that doesn't mean it's wrong...

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 10:41

I have stupid feet which means I get crampy toes within 10 mins of wearing ballerinas. The soles are too flat. This is why I have unstylish walking sandals as even my Birkenstocks didnt offer the right support in the footbed Sad

euro i'm off to Barcelona. Gives for mid twenties first few days and then low twenties/high teens the latter part. I'm one of those people who really likes hot weather (high twenties all year round would suit me).
I saw a nice top in M&S at the weekend so may go back for that and buy a couple of plain vests while I'm there.
I detest clothes shopping.

So sorry about the droidal invasion euro. It is not how it is supposed to be, I totally agree. Well done on being in a better frame of mind for IVF now, though. And will be keeping everything crossed for you.

Agree on the vitamine D front, but I am a ridiculously pale, so tend to try to avoid burning at all costs. (My parents tell me I used to get blisters on my nose where it poked out from under a sun hat, even though they had lathered me with sun screen).

The cycle ride was lovely and quiet, the seaside jam packed. But there was the sea. And I paddled a little which cooled me down wonderfully. So that was good.

Queenie I would opt for something you can walk in rather than too stylish. I never wear hears, I have about three pairs of high heeled shoes. And much to SB's disappointment they never come on holiday with us, they come out for important worky things and weddings only. So smart-ish on hols with me means nice ballerinas. Is that an option?

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 10:26

I have packed a nice dress in case we decide to eat in a posh restaurant. I've got proper walking sandals for daily wear as we're mostly just wandering around the city doing touristy things, or will be spending time with my papa. I do however need some 'other' shoes and this is causing problems. I don't own anything suitable really, and I hate shoe shopping with a passion. I cannot walk in anything with a heel, not even wedges and trying to find something stylish but flat is proving a challenge. hmmm.....and I have DS with me a few extra days, he will not take kindly to being dragged round shoe shops...
On reflection I am going to leave pee-stick at home.

Morning ladies.

Try not to be too liberal with the factor 50. Remember vit D has a role to play in fertility so don't block all the sunlight out! I tend not to burn in British sun (as long as I don't do anything daft like lay out for 12 hrs straight) so I have been getting my daily dose.

I'm glad you got back on your bike *lemons". Did you manage to find a quietish bit of seaside or was it completely mobbed?

Cavey that sounds like a very good friend.

sinking and norfy fingers crossed for your cycles and lack of fat ladies singing. I think you made the right decision not to run at midday yesterday, sinking!

Where are you off to queenie? If it's really hot where you are going you might want 2 tops per day - one for beach/sightseeing and one for the evening (or one top over 2 evenings maybe as you will only be wearing them for a short time and it'll be cooler then).

Well Droid arrived this morning so I am on to cycle 20 now. I knew it was coming cos my temps had been dropping. I quite like the fact that with temping I get a couple of days to get used to the idea before the metal fvker actually arrives. So I'm not feeling too bad. I need to call the IVF clinic today to make sure they are ok for us to start on day 21. I'm feeling better about it than I was in March when the big bag of drugs arrived and I had my meltdown. But this wasn't how it was supposed to be.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 28/05/2012 10:11

Relax rollo. What you have packed sounds good. I would always also take at least one dress, but SB is a massive fan of lemons in dresses, so... Also think about shoes. Do you want to run/hike/look fabulous in heels? If so you might need a spare pair or two. I get blisters really easily, so I tend to take an extra pair. As to pee-stick, I wouldn't. As I don't think I want to test at somebody else's house and also I would not want it tempting me in the bottom of my bag. But that is just me.

Enjoy your trip!!

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 09:58

i've never been on a proper holiday before. What the hell do I pack? I don't actually own very many clothes anyway....i've packed two skirts (one long one short), three vest tops, one long sleeved, one t-shirt. Enough underwear for the week and some socks (just in case, I do get cold feet). My swimming cossie has gone in. Two long sleeve linen tops.
NO fancy dress. It feels odd packing and not putting in fancy dress.
I bought some linen trousers which I'm going to wear to travel in.
Am staying with a friend, so will have facilites to do laundry. I don't really want to overpack.
And do I pack a pee-stick or not? I will be due on second to last day of holiday. Do I take one to do while I'm there or wait until I get home?

Morning Rulvakians - what do you say, we didn't win the eurovision?!?

The weekend has passed in a sunny haze :) We went for the first proper cycle ride since broken bones yesterday. Made it to the seaside and it was lovely. Sun and ice cream (and plenty of factor fifty - stern look to sinky).

Hiss boo to missy, bugs. I hope you told her were to go. But yay for general boozyness this weekend.

Wow cave, that is an amazing friend, wishing to swap (although would they if they really know what it is like?!?) Sounds lovely though.

General Rulvakian karate to chops to the imminent droidage. Although I really hope the white knickers don't tempt her out sinky. Hiss boo to early spotting faith, although your new set and soppy MSB sound good especially in combination. How are you feeling about the possible (it ain't over and all that) start of ivf this month euro?

And much naked dancing for the wriggly baby, dor. Really hope you can relax a little now! Although no tassles, my boobs are big and sore enough without anything hanging off them. 12dpo now, no other symptoms, at all. How can I menkul this way? Just hanging in there, behind norf. Had an irrational urge to test this morning, but have sterny talked to myself. My unfaltering LF of 13 days will let me know whether anything has happened, and it is a waste (of nearly out of date cheapy sticks) anyway.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 28/05/2012 09:12

Hum. Numbers a bit off there, but you get the idea..

sinkingflameofhilarity · 28/05/2012 09:10

Blind Norf. I've never really got on with ov sticks, but last few cycles have had appropriate pant snotage around cd21 then droid 14days later, so assumed all well post the op and drugs. this cycle, have to admit I'm not sure. Didn't get the usual ov pains, just occasional twinges, and didn't really have a day that I thought was a goer, but not to the extent that I rules myself out the running.

It's just frustrating. But. With the heat am wearing white knickers and a pale skirt today and just realised that I have a different bag with me and therefore no pads/tampons etc. if the droid is coming, surely she'll come today!

Northey · 28/05/2012 08:52

Do you know if you ovulated or anything, hils? Or is this a blind sort of cycle. Bastard unpredictable systems.

Northey · 28/05/2012 08:51

I hadn't ovulated on 15th but had on 17th, so they are taking 16th as a nominal ovulation date, making today 12dpo. Will see what happens over the next couple of days. I'm not back home (where I have a spare stick) till Friday, so that seems a sensible sort of point to aim for.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 28/05/2012 08:29

Morning.

Fear not. After burning within 30min at 10am, the run idea was abandoned! When for a leasurely walk around 3pm and burnt a bit more. Maybe need to get something a bit stronger than factor 10...

I'm now 7days late. Poas yesterday bfn. So this is officially just my cycles being shit again. On a positive (sort of) note got to book my first ivf discussion appt yesterday. First available - mid August. Seems v far away..

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 08:19

When did they think you ovulated again?
I've got intense womble cramps and more spotting so just waiting for the inevitable.

Northey · 27/05/2012 21:33

We know all about your wedding night lack of sleep, missy.

Boobs significantly ouchy on removal of bra just now. Also, I was sick in the middle of last night. But that was because I had drunk too much then eaten late and gone to bed on a full stomach. Still, a BESH can dream.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 27/05/2012 19:56

sinkers did you go in the end? Did you melt?!
cavey brunch sounds generally nice, though a bit emotional for you and your friend.
bugs I think your non bride cousin is a cheeky mare! How very dare she! Shock Hope you enjoyed the other bits.
euro I think I'd chose Pimms in this weather but I luff pink wine too!
I've had a rather nice day. MSB has been feeling rather delicate. Woke and declared he 'drank the bar'! We did have a burst of energy where we moved some boxes home. I felt rather emotional about it! I did some gardening too - at the rented house, preparing to leave - so a bit more vitamin D and fresh air. Just chilling watching Soccer Aid now. Always reminds me of our honeymoon - MSB watched it the day after our wedding while I collapsed in bed, exhausted after 7 hours sleep in two days!

CaveMum · 27/05/2012 12:24

Back from breakfast/brunch, whatever you want to call it!

We had a luffly catch up though I did have a wobbly moment and cry when we were talking about how things were going for me. It made her cry too, so I felt very guilty. Bless her she's so worried about upsetting me by talking too much about her pregnancy (20 weeks already Shock, she even told me she wished she could swap places with me which made me cry even more! She has her 20 week scan (a bit late!) coming up this week, so I've made her promise to tell me how it goes.
They've decided to find out the sex, she has "girl vibes" but we'll see!

Right, I've got an assignment to finish and weeding to do in the garden so best crack on!

eurochick · 27/05/2012 12:09

sinking you are bonkers. You will melt. Like the witch in The Wizard of Oz. I looked like an overripe tomato by the time I got back. 481 cals burned though, which should take care of this afternoon's bbq!

Good work on dealing with the "guess who's 12 weeks" game.

lugsy that doesn't sound very pleasant. Did you put the little madam in her place? We ate the fish last night. Very nice it was too. I could throw a homemade burger at you instead?

Faith I think this will be my last weekend of drinking for a while as IVF is imminent. I might make some Pimms to mark the occasion. Hmmm. Pimms or pink wine? Decisions, decisions.

Right, I'd better get going on bbq food. KFZK is in the kitchen mincing beef and pork for homemade burgers. His cooking is ace.
