Hi ladies, yes it does sound much easier having a pre-planned c-sec. On the other side of the coin, just been speaking to a recent new mum friend of mine about the same thing - her contractions were manageable enough for her to stay at home for almost the whole thing (which was only a few hours) and by the time she got to hospital she was ready to push before they could any internals. She had the tiniest of grazes, no tearing whatsoever, and is now completely back to normal as if it never happened! Obviously I get that she was really lucky but I wonder how common it is to get through a natural birth with no problems at all?

Can't wait for more news tomorrow red fx Smile

KickingUpQuestions · 24/05/2012 11:40

I'm from a country where we pay for medical insurance so most people get c-sections anyway. It's more common.

Plus, I have spoken to a lot of new mums and the labour side is hectic! It's even worse if you labour for hours and hours and then get a c-section anyway.

I think it's potentially easier when you pop into a hospital, get a snip, pop out with a baby. Job done

Like picking up your baby from MacDonald's drive through :D

everythinghappensforareason · 24/05/2012 11:03

red your hilarious :o

kicking i understand, i'm the same i would love to beable to say i done it naturally but i just couldn't face it, i had a real bad time we can be scar buddies :)
I just laugh it off though and tell people im too posh too push, if victoria beckham didn't have to do it, why should i :o

think im about CD5, really not stressing at all upto now :)

Got a scan date through already so im pleased, but a little anxious.

KickingUpQuestions · 24/05/2012 09:13

Too posh to push is what I would tell everyone.

But in reality, I have a really deep imbedded fear about what will happen when my legs are in the air. I just can't do it. They can send me to psychologists but it's all as a result of childhood abuse. Can't do it

And I have a jolly great cut along my bikini line so I have a medical and a nutter reason.

I am not good at keeping track of CD. I just know the date I came on so I have to check it every day because I have a very short attention span Grin

redstrawberry · 24/05/2012 08:56

Morning everyone - how we holding up here?
12dpo today - a day to go....
I can hear Eye of the Tiger tune coming on in my head Hmm

everythinghappensforareason · 23/05/2012 20:49

Haha too posh too push kicking?? :o

feels like i haven't been on here in ages haha, been keeping busy. infact i don't even no what CD i am on Shock

  • im not going to look actually :) got such a busy month ahead, i think its going to be quite easy not to obsess, just hope its not to busy im tired and don't dtd enough

Hows everyone been? done anything nice? had really nice weather last two days here :) funny how the sunny can slightly lift your mood

OP posts:
KickingUpQuestions · 23/05/2012 09:50

Talk to your doctor and go with the fear. The thing is that it DOES effect your body long term and they can't deny it. You can push for it and they will send you for counselling and stuff but if you really want it and they can see that it would effect your ability during child birth, they have no other option but to offer it

C-Sec costs them more. That's why they don't want too many people going for it.

I haven't had a kiddie before either but the surgery I've had. I hope the scar excludes me. But I am also going for the "nutter who is not pushing ANYTHING out of ANYWHERE" angle

QueenOfTheDrama · 23/05/2012 09:44

You're right kicking - if we're not lucky this month then the dtd eod strategy will be ours too next month, luckily I'm doing a lot of day shifts throughout June so shouldn't be a problem. I want my BFP NOW though!

I don't think I could ask for a c-sec - first time mother and never had previous surgery, wouldn't they expect me to try for a natural birth?

KickingUpQuestions · 23/05/2012 09:36

Like the new name!

We thought the same thing actually Blush

We have just been very busy and this month will be the first month that we're both actually on the same page for the whole month and will have the ability to DTD EOD and to really concentrate on it properly. So even though we've been trying for 9 months, we've only really been trying to catch ovulation. Instead of DTD rampantly EOD for the better part of three weeks. I think if you can only focus on catching ovulation, then you may more than likely whittle down the time frame. Whereas DTD EOD means that you hit every fertile day and then some :)

I agree. I am worried about the tearing. I hate the fact that it stretches the inner muscles and DTD for HIM will never be the same again. I hate that the chance of your muscles collapsing increases with time. I hate that they shove a finger up there - you become less than human. I don't want people peering up my bits. I don't want people touching me. No thanks. Nope. I get short of breath just thinking about it.

C-Sec for me. I am pulling the previous surgery card and the psychological card.

QueenOfTheDrama · 23/05/2012 09:31

Hi kicking - have changed my name from rodeo to drama - think it suits me better Grin

I LOVE the idea of getting DH to meet me at a hotel, unfortunately though he doesn't work in just one place, he travels all over the north west so wouldn't really work. It'd be easier asking him to pop home during the day but thats unlikely too really. I've had a bit of a moment of clarity where I'm thinking this ttc lark is taking so long not because theres anything wrong with either of us, mainly just because if we're working opposite shifts when I'm ovulating then we're just missing it completely! At least after today I have a few days off then back to day shifts so theres some hope at least! CD10 today Confused

I completely understand why you wouldn't want someone fiddling about. The whole idea of childbirth terrifies me actually. I have an irrational fear of tearing really badly and having problems for life, silly I know!

KickingUpQuestions · 23/05/2012 09:07

I would have a c-sec. I have had the surgery and I found it fairly painless.

I've got some very severe mental and emotional issues about natural birth. I don't care how many women think it's "abnormal" for me to not want someone fiddling "down there" when I am at my most vulnerable. Not a chance.

queen dare you to book a cheeky hotel if you do OV near DH's work. Then he can meet you there for a clandestine lunchtime meeting :D

QueenOfTheRodeo · 23/05/2012 00:23

Thanks ladies, I was worried OV was coming early but looks like I may just be approaching it. I've just got home from work (late again!) - unfortunately DH couldn't wait up for me as he's leaving for work by 6.30 in the morning. Hate the shifts I'm on at the moment!! Luckily last one is tomorrow then have couple of days off from Thurs, which is CD11. Hoping I don't ovulate before then because if work carries on like it is then we don't get chance to dtd on Weds either!

everything I love the idea of a natural water birth, I'm a bit of a wimp though so reckon I'd prob prefer the drugs than going natural Grin

everythinghappensforareason · 22/05/2012 20:30

No queen i dont think your too later i have all ovulation symptoms right from when AF ends, but don't actually ovulate until CD11. just dtd asap :)

  • apparently now u can have a choice no matter what circumstances are, if u want a c-sec u can. thats what ive heard. because ive had a previous 1, and had a really bad time i will have the option next time. i always wanted a lovely natural water birth, no drugs and all that!! doesn't always work out though, i couldn't cope with the pain!! xx

KickingUpQuestions · 22/05/2012 12:44

I think the every second day also gives the swimmers a chance to recoup :D

KickingUpQuestions · 22/05/2012 12:43

Nope Queenie - we've ditched the OPKs as well. And we're going for every second day. And I will try the CM thing - google it. It's meant to look like egg white and have a consistency so you can actually pull it apart.

But getting wetter is meant to be a sign that you're coming up to OV.

Lately, everyone I've spoken to about conceiving - the ones who didn't bother about OV and just DTD every second or third day had babies within 3 months.

And I think OPKs and BBT are fairly inaccurate. And it's as you say - we've begun to obsess about it. I don't want to obsess anymore. I've obsessed for too long now!!

QueenOfTheRodeo · 22/05/2012 12:19

Forgot to say I have ditched the OPKs this month in an attempt to be less obsessed, maybe I should have stuck with them?

QueenOfTheRodeo · 22/05/2012 12:18

Yes been using OPKs for a few months which had my ovulation as around CD14ish. Not sure about stringy CM but its definitely a lot thicker than usual and I feel constantly wet down there (sorry if tmi).

Happy dtd tonight Grin Hoping to get home from work early so I can too!

KickingUpQuestions · 22/05/2012 12:11

Hey Queen - have you tried the OPK's?

Have you noticed that the CM is the EW stuff? Stringy and stuff?

I am CD 7 I think and DTD on CD 5 so tonights the night as well

QueenOfTheRodeo · 22/05/2012 10:51

Morning ladies

everything glad your doctor is good and I'm sure all will be ok at your ultrasound Smile Did the doctor just tell you to carry on as normal with the ttc in the meantime?

I'm a bit annoyed today. Was supposed to be home by 11pm last night for first sesh of the month with DH, however stuff happened at work and didn't get home till gone 2am. Obviously DH was in bed already as he was up at 6am for work. He tried to cuddle me this morning before he left but I was too exhausted to wake up properly to dtd. So its now CD9 and we still haven't dtd once! I think I posted on another thread about how I'm noticing CM changes much earlier this month and think I may ovulate early? Really worried now that I'm going to miss it Sad

KickingUpQuestions · 21/05/2012 16:51

I know what you mean. There is much comfort in knowing that we're not alone. That's why we do the Google thing in the 2ww!!

I would rather have the cut again - I didn't find it that painful although I can image that changes when you have a baby to look after?

I am worried about natural and my cut. Do you think we get a choice?

everythinghappensforareason · 21/05/2012 16:43

i wouldn't worry ive only read that on internet, haven't had that confirmed by a professional :)
I would most likely have a 2nd/3rd .. c-section tbh!!

  • although am sorry its painful for u, its comforting to no its pretty normal :)
OP posts:
KickingUpQuestions · 21/05/2012 16:29

Would you be able to have natural birth or would they do c-sec?

Totally worth it to check - agree. I know my scar does some things after a run and sometimes it just does play up. I think I notice it more TTC now

It's the same scar as yours - it's about 8inches along my bikini line.

My AF is sore too, if that helps. If I don't take about 4 of those extra strength ibuprofen within an hour of AF starting, I am done. I can't walk, can't do anything, my legs go numb, my body goes hot and cold, I get a fever. It's unreal. I spend one day eating 400mg Ibuprofen by the bucket and then it just goes away

I am hoping it's all ok for you though. If you get something from c-sec, I am going to worry though!! I didn't know the scar could contribute to endo?

KickingUpQuestions · 21/05/2012 16:25

Just wanted to add that I am not trying to put you down either or trivialise what you're going through

But my gynae told me when I was 16 that I probably had endo so it was something I stressed about for YEARS.

When I was 28, I had a myomectomy and I didn't have a wif of endo. All that stressing for nothing! I also have friends (a lot of friends) with endo - some conceive after the scraping surgery (within 6 months), others have been trying for 4 years to conceive and nothing seems to work.

The overwhelming thing with endo is that if you do have it, conceiving is hard. So I think you are safe you kind of destress a bit because you're body has already shown you that you are fertile.

Unlike mine :D

everythinghappensforareason · 21/05/2012 16:24

pcos is 1 of the things ive never worried about, im only worried because of AF is so painful, like mild contractions(not nice) been in tears on my hands n knees with it some months. ive always been like this though and get ovulation pain, dr said thats also normal. i reallly hope i haven't got this :) but thought its safer to check. and endo can happen after a c-sec 9which i had) something to do with the scar tissue, never had a cyst etc b4 ds but afterwards have! im regular though, and wouldn't say periods r extremly heavy just average most likely x

OP posts:
KickingUpQuestions · 21/05/2012 16:14

I also have painful AF and it's just something that is there

I asked my gynae if endo would appear suddenly at a later stage and she said "highly unlikely" - so if you didn't have an issue the first time around, the chances of it suddenly appearing now are slim

Yep, I had a few cysts picked up on my ovaries as well and they just got rid of them. I don't worry about PCOS at all. I am more scared about the fibroids coming back. And none of what I have had is likely to effect my fertility. The fact that you already have a child means you probably just need to DTD a bit more, stress less and have some patience. It will happen :)

I think you have to worry if you're HIGHLY irregular and very heavy for endo. And the worse your symptoms, the worse you would be. If you had severe endo, you wouldn't have conceived your first child. You would know all about it.

This is just what I've been told. I'm not a doctor but I believe that PCOS has been thrown around incorrectly a fair bit and that's what my doctor told me...
