Does the tacky CM dry up? And does the cervix get dryer? Any idea?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 15:55

Cool ladies I will try that - thanks.

I found a cool little interesting theory that said female foetuses kick out higher hcg at a faster rate and male foetuses take a bit longer... Has anyone experienced that?

I feel like a game of tennis. Literally. Bouncing between sure I'm pregnant to doubting it completely.

redstrawberry · 15/05/2012 15:54

ah! thanks for that explanation kicking I have been googling to find out what happens between fetilisation and implantation - but never knew the fertilised egg sits there for a few days before beginning the journey into the uterus.

QueenOfTheRodeo · 15/05/2012 15:53

I agree with red - kicking it would be hard but if you could ignore the thirst through the night then maybe you would get a more accurate result with FMU?

Haven't tried preseed, don't really know a lot about it? Ditto vitex so can't help with that one sorry pickled

redstrawberry · 15/05/2012 15:50

TMI - tacky (i found the terminology on mumsnet) CM is like sticky and wet - white bits. I haven't dried up yet and mildly wet i.e. some residue on knickers but wet within cervix.

PickledFanjoCat · 15/05/2012 14:37

You seem like a knowledgable lot on here! Seeing as my cycles are a bit out of whack would anyone suggest Vitex?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 14:32

Whoops - the "my cycles are like clockwork" was your message I forgot to delete. I copy and paste messages so I can reply properly :D

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 14:32

The later the symptoms start, the better. Progesterone will increase in your system until about 10dpo. Then it starts to decrease if you're not pregnant and increase if you are. So the later the symptoms start, the higher the chance they won't be PMS symptoms.

What is tacky CM? Isn't it supposed to then dry up if you're not pregnant and stay wet if you are?

my cycles are like clockwork too, expecting AF to show its ugly head next week if there are no symptoms. I have tacky CM now so def no chance of OV this late in the cycle.

I think the trouble with OV 7 days before AF is that your body doesn't get enough time to completely implant. It takes (on average) 24 hours to fertilise, then it sits for up to 3 days, then it moves down the fallopian tubes for up to a week and implants for up to 3 days (I think it's 3 days). After the implantation, hcg starts to be released by the placenta and about 5 days after that, you can pick it up in the blood stream.

So you should look at a positive test 12 - 19 DPO

redstrawberry · 15/05/2012 14:23

hang in there kicking and happily the waiting is painful but thats what these forums are for.
kicking should you drink water in the middle of the night before testing? Doesn't that dilute the FMU :)?

I am still symptom free but not expecting them to start until the weekend. Still I keep wishing every hour, every min that I would feel a twinge, a cramp, a sore boob! Anything! anything to give me a sign!

Although crazy question - can you ovulate a week before AF due on a regular cycle of 30 days?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 14:20

Yeh crumbs you don't need to say any more about where you work! Take ibuprofen and hot chocolate and eat something that you love but that you know you shouldn't' have :)

I read an interesting article about it. My only complaint is then if I ovulated late, does the LP change to accommodate my regular cycle length? Because I've been under a fair bit of stress in the last year and I've still not been late with AF? What that means is that - why I am I late now?! Darn it! :)

I do wake up thirsty and I wear a mouth guard at night so between sudden random thirst and the mouth guard, I am waking up and drinking at least 500ml of water during the night. The other night was a litre. Eeep. But I test the first urine of the day.

I will know soon enough though.

Have you tried preseed and all that?

QueenOfTheRodeo · 15/05/2012 14:10

Without wanting to completely out myself, I work for one of the emergency services. Don't really want to call in sick so will just try to sleep late afternoon/early evening before work and hopefully feel a little better afterwards.

I don't think the late af/late bfp is odd at all, probably just means you ovulated later than you thought. I bet its actually quite common and women who aren't ttc don't even notice it, but we do because we're tracking cycles, symptom spotting etc etc.

That definitely makes sense about the diluted urine, maybe test again in the morning after no fluids all night? or are you leaving any more testing until Thursday?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 13:51

OH OH OH

Just found this: If you drink a lot of fluid, the urine may be too diluted early on in pregnancy to achieve an hCG concentration adequate enough for a positive test.

I drink like 5L a day! There is hope!!! :D

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 13:38

Do you think the late AF / late BFP is a bit common? Or do you think it's quite odd?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 13:37

I don't think I had the cramping in December. Not like over the weekend. Had growing cramps from Friday until Sunday night - they were probably the twangiest on Sunday night. Then...nothing. No more cramps.

I know my body does nothing normal. It really doesn't. If there is a way it could take something normal and push the boundaries, it does that. But the one thing that has been rock solid is actually how regular I am. I know that when AF starts, I have a window of about an hour to take pain killers, otherwise I won't get rid of the pain. It's so set in stone.

This will be effing sore if I do get AF now. December I didn't know what to do with myself it was so sore. My DH took me to the hospital.

I feel like I have a fair bit of pressure in my tummy today. Like a full feeling?

Can you call in ill tonight and just stay in bed? What work do you do? My mum is a nurse and she is on nights this week too :)

QueenOfTheRodeo · 15/05/2012 13:28

Ahh kicking don't read that stuff, I've heard about loads of people who've had a late bfp and gone on to have a healthy child.

QueenOfTheRodeo · 15/05/2012 13:26

Thanks kicking I'm at home at the mo as working nights this week. Haven't managed much sleep this morning though so feeling even more irritable than usual. Will need another kip before work tonight I think. I hate af time as theres nothing you can do but wait it out. Just want it to be over so I can get on with the next month.

It will probably be the longest 2 days ever kicking but at least you will know for sure soon. The symptoms all still sound promising.

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 13:24

I just read that if you implant 12 days or later, there is an 86% chance that you lose the pregnancy :(

I can feel our December repeating to be honest

I don't think it's very common to get a BFP this late on...

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 13:09

Oh no Queen that sucks :( Are you at home or work? Sending muchos positive vibes and hugs xx

My boobage is still sore. Other symptoms are still here - peeing lots, drinking lots, hungry as anything, still not keen to drink alcohol (that's weird), still a fair bit of CM and still weird in me bits. The bitch of it all is that I don't feel pregnant. I am getting weird tugging sensations on my lower ads now when I go walking, but it's not AF cramps. I don't feel irritable or aggressive (I normally feel that during AF).

I am starting to think I just have a weird anomaly. Anyway - Thursday is D-Day.

QueenOfTheRodeo · 15/05/2012 13:00

Sorry to hear about af pickle & aday

everything & happily - not long to wait now, fx for you.

kicking really sorry that you still don't have your answer, I thought I'd log in today and find your bfp announcement! Are your breasts still as sore today or are they easing off? Do you still have all your other symptoms?

I am feeling completely sorry for myself today, af is here with a vengence. I feel terrible, its like the worst af I've had in years. I am normally quite heavy on the first day but this is something else and (far tmi sorry) I've had a few clots in the blood. My back, stomach and legs hurt and I have a headache. Theres nothing more I want to do than crawl into bed and not move for the next few days Sad

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 12:09

I had ovulation spotting, cramping and EWCM on the 1 May. It can go up to 3 days either way. But I am never late for my AF. Like - I have been clockwork for the passed 20 odd years and I've been recording it for the past...13 or 14 years? And I've never been on the pill for long periods of time so my body has regulated my AF for that time as well.

The other thing is that my breasts got sore on the day I should have had AF. Normally, sore breasts are a PMS sign and happen before ovulation. This is mostly due to progesterone. The progesterone peaks at about 10dpo and then starts to decline. Estrogen increases then and that's about the time you get PMS symptoms. If there is a fertilised egg, progesterone carries on building and doesn't drop off. Hence an occasional later stage sore breast feeling.

Right now, my breasts last night were sore. I don't think they've ever been that sore. They are very tender. That all started on around the day I was due AF. The pain isn't going away and I am now 3 days after AF is due.

Anyway - it could be a hormone imbalance. I am being careful with what I eat just in case but I will get blood tests done on Thursday and we can see if maybe my progesterone level is just a bit too high.

Happilymarried155 · 15/05/2012 12:00

Not willpower so much as I cannot go through the "bfn but AF hasn't arrived there is still chance" feelings again, I've done it so often and ended up distraught last month, literally cried all morning. I can't do that to myself again so if I wait till Friday I know I have a fairly reliable answer!

The waiting and not knowing is so hard tho, especially as pregnancy signs and pre menstrual signs are pretty similar! I have spent the last couple of days sure my boobs are sure but it's impossible to tell! Good luck everyone!

Kicking do you know when you definitely ovulated? Maybe you ovulated a fews day later than usual. Mine can vary from cd 13-cd 18 x

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 11:56

Red - how about 15 dpo with increased CM, and 3 days late for AF??? :D

PickledFanjoCat · 15/05/2012 11:55

Bad luck Aday - is the dog pregnant? Prehaps hes having a doggy 2ww with you and couldnt control himself!

redstrawberry · 15/05/2012 11:54

Gutted for you Pickle :(

I have been checking my cervix along with CM and in my fertile days of the cycle it was very roomy in there and yes soft, but post OV the gap feels tighter and yes def hard like the tip of the nose.

Hoping to see some change if implantation happens.

Adayforthinking · 15/05/2012 11:52

Bloody typical! Went upstairs to find that my dog had opened my envelope of Internet Cheapie tests - thanks dog!

Took them upstairs, decided to do one there and then, did it, wiped and start of AF - what a waste of a test!

Oh well, it's not quite CD1 yet as only the signs of it as opposed to proper bleeding so I'll wait until it starts and then start the temping. June BFP please!! Smile
