How unlikely is unlikely...

Blush too embarrassed to ask anyone in real life so thought I'd ask mumsnet...

Ok, well period normally as regular as clockwork.... Was due on thursday, no sign as yet. If I am pregnant it would be a 'ahem' splash pregnancy... As we have done stuff in the vicinity but not full penetration(this month)... (not ttc... Was waiting until the autumn for that, but not using contraception on this occasion either)...

So while I know it's technically possible... It's very very unlikely...right??

SpottyTeacakes · 02/05/2012 20:06

Six minutes is plenty!

DilysPrice · 02/05/2012 20:06

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 02/05/2012 20:02

Oooh my first live POAS! < sits patiently!>

SpottyTeacakes · 02/05/2012 20:02

Eek!

Sarcalogos · 02/05/2012 20:00

Haha i sense this has gone on too long! ok, bought the test, just give me a minute or two to read the instructions and go upstairs.

Weirdly I think Im going to be gutted if when, i mean surely its most likely to be negative it's negative... But I guess I can console myself with wine?

Right, reading instructions now...

Look, we all want to know, and we out number him! Do it tonight.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 02/05/2012 16:30

You'd be less likely to get a false negative if you test with first morning urine but if youre a week late a test tonight is probably going to be accurate anyway!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/05/2012 16:28

Do it tonight!! Smile

Sarcalogos · 02/05/2012 16:24

Oh alright I'm just about convinced I can't bare the suspense any more...

DH will be home soon but is out 7-11 this evening, would it be wrong of me to go and get a test and do it while he's out? Or is that robbing him of something? We agreed earlier to test on Saturday.

PieMistress · 02/05/2012 16:19

ooooo test!! I also know somebody that got pregnant 'fooling around' :)

Dillydollydaydream · 02/05/2012 15:47

Wow. A week is quite late! I've never been that late unless pregnant in the 20 years I've had periods! Oooh exciting! test, test, test!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 02/05/2012 15:20

Definitely worth POAS with FMU tomorrow if you can get a test?

Sarcalogos · 02/05/2012 14:59

Hmmm so still no AF, been nauseous all day (but that could be fear/all in my head), also things taste funny (same).

Rechecked my dates as was panicking it all really was in my head.... Turns out I had done them wrong ...but I was actually due last Wednesday not last Thursday, so am now officially a week late.

Sarcalogos · 01/05/2012 22:49

Phew, glad it's not just me howling all night then Grin

pickles35 · 01/05/2012 22:11

How late are you? I have been really late the odd time and even convinced myself I was preggers one month, good used to the idea and then was almost quite gutted when it turned up.

Sorry about the job. I think weve all been there. Last time I didnt get a job I howled all night.

Sarcalogos · 01/05/2012 21:45

I'm seriously tempted! But I haven't got any and I'm working tonight till 11pm and then all day tomorrow, and don't got anywhere near a shop on my normal working days so practicalities are helping me restrain myself!

(still no AF starting to think even if I'm not pregnant I should see a doctor, being this late is just odd for me, when would most people get worried?)

LimeLeafLizard · 01/05/2012 21:21

Glad you got some feedback, sounds like they are trying to be fair to you (even whilst making Hmm hiring decisions).

Well you're more patient than I am with the whole testing thing. I go through dozens of the things at least one a month.

Sarcalogos · 01/05/2012 17:35

Thanks for the sympathy ladies. I did get some feedback (most of it nonsensical, but boils down to me having strong (good) ideas about some things and not being forceful enough about others), boss has offered to do some 'career planning' type chatting with me to improve things in the next few weeks, so I guess they can't be fairer than that (even if they did give the promotion to someone who's been 'acting' in the role badly, total liability for the last year).

Still no AF, getting marginally excited as well as terrified now. DH has started to believe its also a possibility, and is rabbit in headlights terrified supportive.

Am trying to wait til Saturday to POAS as I think I'd rather get a definite answer than a negative but be worrying about it being too soon to test.

OP posts:
LimeLeafLizard · 01/05/2012 17:07

Sorry to hear about the job... it is normal to be disappointed so don't beat yourself up about it. Can you ask for some feedback as to what you could do developmentally so as to be more likely to get a promotion next time? I used to work in HR, and although we didn't give detailed feedback as standard, I'd always have taken the time to talk things through if someone asked.

Meanwhile, why don't you POAS and then at least you'll know either way and can either stop worrying or start adjusting. Sometimes not knowing is the worst, iyswim?

Take care x

Becksharp · 01/05/2012 17:05

I conceived DS2 this way...it definitely can happen!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 30/04/2012 21:20

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job :( Don't beat yourself up. Sounds like your nerves are in tatters and your hormones are all over the place!

Sarcalogos · 30/04/2012 20:33

Didn't get the job. Have been sobbing all evening. Am I a saddo or is it hormones.

Bloody hell I better be a saddo, I'd never cope with a baby at this rate.

(still no AF)

OP posts:
LimeLeafLizard · 30/04/2012 18:51

Well, don't worry too much about hiking or job just yet, after all AF will probably show soon and you'll feel a great surge of relief and perhaps a tiny bit sad, too.

I wouldn't tell your employer until after you've had a 12 week scan... there is loads of time to make that decision if you need to.

No worries I always follow 'threads I'm on'.
