Oh Jaffa I so feel for you. I think none of us know what we would do until we are in your shoes. And any fear of loss makes you feel in limbo about decisions that affect family life. I can't even decide if I should move furniture and buy a wardrobe - let alone a bloody house. Heres hoping tomorrow brings positive news for you.

Far I just googled the place you had your scan - bad having them on the doorstep. I was tempted and I was last scanned on Friday FFS. Glad the cramps have passed.

I am driving myself demented trying to find exactly how late miscarriages start so I can prepare myself for one, if that is what is coming. Of coure, I know preparing myself won't make any bloody difference so why I am torturing myself I do not know. I am actually shouting at myself to stop as it is not helpful but my fingers are possessed. I am moving away from google before I end in the loony bin. Typing this is helping as I know it is all a bit mental. hangs head in shame at my mentalism. Focusing on the positive from now on:

Brown not red
Spotting not bleeding
No cramps
HB still there
Movement still there

Arrh, slightly less mental. Will it ever stop? The metalling I mean? I thought it would stop at 12 weeks but it is worse, the more there is at stake, the worse it gets. I had experienced multiple losses aready by the time I had DD and I was not this mental. Perhaps it is nearly approaching double figures that has sent me into metalling overdrive. Someone please virtually slap me or even better drive to my house and actually slap me

MrsPear · 08/05/2012 15:29

Hi Jaffa - hope all is well tomorrow. Whatever you and your husband decide we are all there for hand holding.

Hi Midge - hope the bleeding and cramps stop soon. So glad the noravirus has left home.

Hi Far a scanning machine that close would be too tempting for me!

Tits hope the sickness calms again soon; if not second opinion?

Hello to everyone else and good luck to the person who has the doctors appointment; brain a bit fuzzy today.

Anyway i took a deep breath and rung the doctors today for an appointment and i bottled it. Poor receptionist. Actually she was very nice and says i should try again soon, very soon as the appointments for scans are "backed up." I will try again tomorrow and be brave and see the doctor and say "i am pregnant" It will not jink it will it? I will be still be pregnant just on the system.

JaffaSnaffle · 08/05/2012 15:18

Thanks for all the kind wishes. I will probably get my results tomorrow afternoon. I also got to the bottom of what the difference in the two results are. Nhs gives results on odds of Downs at birth, FmC gives results on odds of Downs now. Sadly I think a lot of the difference is due to the number Downs babies miscarrying. The lady I spoke to at FMC was slightly positive, my bloods improved from Weds to Friday, so that is good, and the physical markers were good. I still feel very gloomy. Also very conflicted. My DH is leaning towards termination. After all the mc, he has made himself detached from this pregnancy. I have been thinking about them every day for 10 weeks, so it is s bit different for me.
Currently sitting in a car park whilst he is in the solicitors. We had an offer accepted on a house last week before all this came to light. but the results tomorrow could make a mockery of it all. If we have a Downs baby and keep it, we can't afford it any more. If we terminate, there will be 3 of us rattling round a big 5 bedroom house.

midge, I hope you get lots of good news at the consultants. and that the plague of cramps, bleeding and puke buggers off for good.

far, sorry about your scare. V handy but too tempting by far having a scan machine 3 doors down!

Waves to those I have missed.

farfallarocks · 08/05/2012 14:04

midge so pleased that the results came back ok, really hoping the cramps and bleeding stop completely so you can relax!

jaffa still thinking of you, you had your CVS done in the best place, their rate of miscarriage is well below the average. My collegue went recently and her odds worsened too, I think its just the machines they use are that much more detailed. I think its also positive there are no soft markers. Keeping all crossed for you, do you find out the results today?

I had a mini metal on Friday as had been having AF like cramps for 3 days, managed to find a Baby Bond 3 doors down from my office who could see me at lunch time and so had an extra scan at 14 weeks! All still well with the bean so obviously just stretching pains. As soon as I had seen the bean the cramps stopped so perhaps in my head! Its going to be very tempting to just pop in there all the time I must admit but I will have to control that particular urge! Seems like forever until the 20 week scan now.

Midgetm · 08/05/2012 12:12

Good luck Tits try and take it easy when you can.

Dear Bleeding Please sod off. I am trying to be positive and you are quite frankly bringing me down. Thank you for remaining old blood and freaking me out a bit less but I still don't trust you. You so often take me to a bad place and I don't want to go there. This one is different.

Dear Cramps thank you for passing - you at least have behaved as I requested.

Dear Time Please hurry up to be tomorrow afternoon so I can see my consultant and find out what the feck is going on.

Dear Google You are NOT my friend. Stop making me google depressing things - it is not helping.

Dear Norovirus Thank you for leaving our house - please never come back.

Jaffa still holding you in my thoughts (inbetween googling myself into insanity)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 08/05/2012 07:09

Morning everyone. :)

I will head back to the GP if sickness is no better, sadly today I have a 9hr Salon session and no doubt a client list as long as my arm.
I also have an attractive runny nose constantly so am very snotty. Pregnancy is so glamorous! Hmm

I am holding both Jaffa and Midge close in my thoughts, I hope some this week is good.

and of course the rest of you. May your week be peaceful and metal free. :)

I need to force down some cornflakes and then start on the Everest of washing up from yesterday

Midgetm · 07/05/2012 23:02

Tits having just not been able to keep things down for a few days and managing to get rather ill, I so feel for you. It Makes you feel so wretched, if it works and it is safe then take it. hope you get some more.

leedy we know our associations aren't always rational but we can't help having them. Especially when dealing with illness on top of pregnancy. It's like some kind of metalling magnifier. Hope the cold buggers off soon.

Starting to feel more rational here. Poor Dd still vomiting. DH had a shit birthday but all calmer. Cramps still there but so difficult to know what they are that trying to ignore them. More like a tightness than anything else. Here's hoping the bleeding buggers off. Thanks for all your hand holding over the last few days. jaffa thinking of you this week.

kirrinIsland · 07/05/2012 21:54

:( leedy hope you get some sleep tonight.

And thanks bonzo I'll have to ring the midwife and see what I need to do - she hasn't mentioned chicken pox so I don't know if my blood's been checked for it already.

bonzo77 · 07/05/2012 21:31

kirrin if you're not immune they can give you an immunoglobulin shot. If you are not pregnant and not immune they can vaccinate against it. In some countries chicken pox vaccine is part of the normal childhood immunisations schedule.

leedy · 07/05/2012 21:22

midge, glad you got some reassurance and hope there are no more alarms.

I discovered when I had my bloods done for pg #1 that I was immune to chicken pox without ever having had it, or at least having had a dose so mild that I didn't notice it. Result.

Filthy cold continues to be filthy. Getting paranoid that it is going to be like my last unsuccessful pregnancy where I had a chest infection for two months (which had nothing to do with the miscarriage, just made everything even more crap). Really want Exputex or other snot-thinner but they're not safe in pregnancy so making do with steam, apple cider vinegar, nose-snorking, honey and lemon with garlic and ginger, Lemsip, and complaining. Mostly complaining. Hope I get a decent night's sleep tonight, last night was coughy and snotty and terrible.

kirrinIsland · 07/05/2012 21:21

Thing is though - if they test you for immunity and you're not immune, is there anything they can do anyway? I think I must have some immunity from somewhere as I've come into contact with it several times and never caught it - including when my sister and cousin had it and I was with them 24/7 - but if I haven't then I'd almost rather not know?!

StateofConfusion · 07/05/2012 19:23

Midwife rang back, no need to worry apparently as I've had the pox, still metalling a bit!

kirrinIsland · 07/05/2012 18:48

I haven't had chicken pox - it's one of the many thongs I am metalling about.

tits with my last pregnancy I had anti-sick meeds from 8-18 weeks none stop, so I'm not sure what your GP means - maybe try someone else?

midge glad you're calming down a bit - roll on wednesday.

Midgetm · 07/05/2012 14:47

state I think the midwife cheeks for chickenpox immunity when you first have your bloods done. Or I could have made that up. I think around 98% of us are immune. Which if course will never stop a metal in its tracks.

StateofConfusion · 07/05/2012 14:29

I had chicken pox a few weeks before I was 5, so I've rang the midwife and left a message about maybe getting a blood test. Dp is dealing with ds to limit my contact for now.

for midge, I have nothing usefull to add but your bean seems to be a toughie :) stay strong and rest x

Midgetm · 07/05/2012 13:36

Thanks everyone. I need to remove my full metal jacket and calm down. Dr was lovely, urine clear now except for blood so not a raging untreated infection. Told to only worry about the red blood if it comes back. Really beyond being able to tell if the cramps are normal (maybe even early Brixton hicks (see what I did there) from dehydration, maybe norovirus related, who fecking knows? Anyway I need to go back in if pain increases and red blood comes back. I am so caught up in negative feelings since the bleeding, it's hard to be rational and I can no longer trust myself. Thank god I have my consultant on Wednesday. May just throw myself at her legs and cling on till this baby is cooked enough to come out.

Important thing is i can eat and drink and the bean is still alive. Red blood comes back and it's full metal. Seriously how do any of us get through 9 months of this?
Thanks everyone, you have helped me regain some temporary perspective.

MandaHugNKiss · 07/05/2012 12:20

missC DD is part Hobbit, right??? Grin

MandaHugNKiss · 07/05/2012 12:19

state chicken pox isn't a worry if you've had it... but mention it to your mw anyway for the official line Wink

tits see a different GP in the practice? It's unacceptable for the GP to prescribe in that way - if the meds weren't safe, you wouldn't have been given them in the first place, so what benefit is there to giving them 'for a break'? THey're not valium and addictive!

midge Bah and Gah! (Happy birthday, MrMidge). I would assume the crampiness is probably DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) which is a well known affliction of gym bunnies - when you have a particularly intense workout or work a muscle group that you don't usually, it's normal to feel pains/intense ache developing in the following 48 hours. With all your vomming/retching you will have 'exercised' parts of your abs that other lagers cannot reach Wink. Wrt to the bleeding, I am wondering if they've noted where your placenta is? And, yeah, spending the weekend back and forth to the hospital does suck donkey balls BUT the weather was shite anyway and you're all gonna come out the other side ok. YOU ARE!!

MissCoffeeNWine · 07/05/2012 11:10

Oh midge :( I hope it's the same issue and nothing to worry about. I understand your pain though I've bled through three pregnancies (this is the only one I haven't bled with so far) and until quite late on - I know my recrod isn't exactly inspiring but my point is I bled with DD as well all the way until 28 weeks. And she's sitting next to me now having just eaten four crumpets with butter as second breakfast. (Yes four, yes second)

Glad you feel a bit better about the pox state do you know how old you were when you had it? I read somewhere that immunity wise if you have it when you're a bit older (5 and up) your immune response is generally better - meaning while it is possible to have the pox twice that's generally the case in people who had their first lot pretty mildly as a very young child (and even then it's a tiny tiny minority whose immunity fails). Still, you'll be stuck in for the duration I'd imagine so get some activities lined up!

JaffaSnaffle · 07/05/2012 09:44

Midge, you are going through the mill aren't you? x glad you are getting seen. I hope everything goes well for you.

StateofConfusion · 07/05/2012 09:40

I have had chicken pox, quite bad as a child, so that's a relief.

Thinking of you midge xxx

Midgetm · 07/05/2012 09:19

Bleeding has been light, it was the redness that freaked me out but back to brown now and light again. So change is low level cramp (but may be that was there all the time but too sick to notice) and colour of blood. I called out of hours GP who made me an appointment at the hospital so I can get a referral to gyne as EPU closed. GP said as I was high risk I shouldn't ignore it. So I will have been at the Whittington everyday since Friday. Blimey. What a way to spend a bank holiday! X

JaffaSnaffle · 07/05/2012 08:40

Midget, has the bleeding been fairly low level all this time? Dud the person you saw on Friday give any idea how long the bleeding might go on for?
If it were me, I would go to a&e, even just to feel I was doing something. It will be quieter in the morning than later on.

How is your DD sickness bug? And how is your bug now?

Midgetm · 07/05/2012 08:30

Ok not sure if I should slip into full metal. Mild cramps in the night, wiped, blood bright red, but only on one wipe, back to brown again now. Really low level cramping, bleeding slightly heavier. So do I stalk the Go to see if I have an infection (sample take on Friday via GP out of hours service) take arse back to a&e or just calm Down till tomorrow? Not sure what is real concern and what is metalling. Help me obi one knobis, you are my only hope of sanity. According to my shit home Doppler the bean still has a heartbeat. After my scare I feel such doom and I can't distinguish between real and imaginary threats anymore. Just don't trust myself.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 07/05/2012 07:45

I ram out of tablets, the gp won't give me more as they were "just to give me a break" Hmm
I eating and drinking although barely anything. I like the idea of ice lollies though .

Sorry to hear about the pox, neither of the boys have had it yet.
I'm not looking forward to it!
