martha I'm also a short arse but not sure DH would dare hide chocolate from me at the moment plus he's just as likely to eat it so it's usually me having to hide chocolate from him! Smile congrats on DSs dry day!

pie edd is 29th May...eeek! Not long now! Have been bizarrely emotional the last couple of days, feel very hormonal...like pmt type hormonal if that makes any sense? This being dc1 I really have no clue what to expect in the coming weeks...other than what i've read etc obviously but it all seems to be quite an individual process for the start of labour and to be honest I'd quite like to just get on with it now! But...secretly hoping there's no coincidence of dates as I'm only a week away from the anniversary of my 12wk scan where my mmc was found and my Erpc was on 9th June last year - both dates perfectly possible for LO to arrive which is messing with my head a bit!

bonzo so glad all was well with your scan...you are definitely at that waiting point again so you can get to your next milestone and tests won't make any difference that unfortunately.

Currently lazing in bed wit the iPad whilst DH and friends watching the football!

PieMistress · 19/05/2012 21:20

manda congratulations on the safe arrival of your son, I am so so happy for you and can't wait to hear the name! You have definitely had a stressful few days leading up to the birth!! Welcome to the world wee man xxx

Does that mean blue is next!!!

martha please please don't worry chick, i know it's easier said than done but as everybody else has said brown blood is old blood and it is probably just bubs burrowing in well, I hope you are relaxing well on the sofa xx are you taking aspirin this time around, anything else?

mumstum I am thinking of you Xx

tiago am so glad to hear the gush was nothing and baby is doing well x

jaffa great news on the Cvs results, that's great !

bonzo great news on the scan, how old is your ds? When is your edd?

poppy how have you been doing? I am feeling very uncomfortable now at 34w but the birth still doesn't feel like it is going to happen!

blue when is your due date again? I am very excited about your imminent arrival !!

midget I wish I was in Spain! It sounds most wonderful right now !!

Sorry I haven't name checked everyone, admittedly I lurk a lot more than I post on this thread nowadays but I know I wouldn't have got where I am without the support this thread gave me x

Can someone remind me where the stats thread is ? Thanks xx

MarthasHarbour · 19/05/2012 20:57

blue my DH actually hides the galaxy chocolate in the highest shelf in the kitchen (i am a short arse) Angry

having a quiet night, DH watching the football and i am MNing whilst celebrating DS's first fully dry day since starting potty training 2 weeks ago Grin

bonzo77 · 19/05/2012 20:01

manda I knew there could only be one reason for cyber silence for you, and definitely the best one. Congratulations to you and all your family, but well done especially to you. Now the worry really begins....!

martha sorry about the scary discharge. It does sound like nothing to worry about, but really anything sets us off, doesn't it?

jaffa great that the CVS results are back in full and are OK, you really cannot get much more reasurance than that, well, for a lot of things anyway. A shame about your scan date, but you might well be able to change it, particularly with a bit of notice. I managed to move both my scan and MW appointments to much better dates and times.

bluecrane I got a fab lie in too, DH on a stag this afternoon and overnight, so I insisted he got DS up and gave me a couple of hours. Fab. Sadly I cannot do chocolate at the moment. It makes me want to vom after a mouthful or two. I nicked one of DS's buttons (treats for having eyedrops). boak. Haven't done any tests now for a couple of weeks. I had a scan yesterday at 7 weeks, showed a heart beat, only one bean and no ectopic, so no point in tests now. If something goes wrong, I know they will come up +ve anyway for a while so would be falsely reassuring. Plus, I'm not sure when it happens, but at some point the HCG gets so high you get a "loop" effect and they come back -ve when all is fine, and that really would set me off!

BlueCrane · 19/05/2012 19:43

martha a girl after my own heart with the galaxy chocolate Smile DH bought me a large bar last week and couldn't understand why I hadn't saved him any...he clearly doesn't understand that once a bar has been started it has to be finished Wink Wink

Poppyjen · 19/05/2012 19:05

Yay Manda well done you!!! Congratulations Grin Looking forward to hearing how its all going when you get a chance.

Martha I had similar brown discharge this time too - nothing to worry about as it turned out but I know that won't help with the metalling so I'll just offer some hand holding instead Smile

Midgetm · 19/05/2012 18:22

Still data roaming so just a quickie....

manda well done you clever old baby making machine. Proof again that we can do this business. Only 9lb? Blimey lady. That is like giving birth to 2 at the same time for me (DD was 4lb9.)

martha nothing will stop the metalling but I have had this 3 times with this pregnancy and according to my Doppler I am still in the game at 17 weeks and everyone of my numerous scans so far say the same. I also had it with DD. this time I got it around 4plus 4, 7 and 15 weeks. Every time I metal, every time I get told not to worry. Brown is old, it is worrying and makes me think it will turn red but none of mine have so far. Blowing you magic dust from Spanish Spain. hope the VIP area is comfy and I'll bring you a big bowl of the paella I've just made.

JaffaSnaffle · 19/05/2012 18:12

Now, Manda, big hurrahs for the safe arrival of your little boy! You have come a long way together already. I am glad you were experienced enough to fend of the inducers. Hope you get some sleep soon and that measles clears out of the Manda household.

Martha sorry you had the brown blood. Agree with blue, its most likely to be innocent. Not fair that your body plays tricks though. My peachy discharge nearly flipped me out completely. Was thinking about tiago and also Mscoffee discharge woes as well. What is it with
fanjos? Why don't they behave!?

I am trying not to metal, but I can't help it. I got my full Cvs results back- all clear. I feel bigger. I have abump that is almost undisguisable, started having heartburn, hungry, tired... All good. Still have huge fear that this one is going to go wrong. Until I get past 17 weeks, the doomsday last time, I can't believe she is coming. I got my scan date in the post when I was away, and it is on thd day my DH is in Denmark for work. It would be, wouldn't it. I will try and rearrange, but not hopeful. Think I will be going on my own.

JaffaSnaffle · 19/05/2012 17:57

mumtum, I am so sorry to hear your news. I wish you didn't have to wait so long. It is such a sad, muddling time, and I wish it could be over sooner for you. The sadness and grief of a miscarriage never quite leaves, but it is so intense at the beginning, especially when it is not completely over.

MarthasHarbour · 19/05/2012 17:56

boris i have the soluble aspirins but am just swallowing them whole with water, i think the leaflet says you get the same effect (doesnt mention preventing a MC but YKWIM Confused)

blue you are truly an angel, particularly as you have proffered my fave chocolate! Grin

feeling a bit better ladies, still some brown spotting but it looks obviously 'old' IYSWIM

leedy · 19/05/2012 17:46

Congratulations Manda!!!!

StateofConfusion · 19/05/2012 17:35

Congratulations manda xxxx

BlueCrane · 19/05/2012 17:27

Grin Grin Grin HUGE congrats manda and of course we will totally forgive you if you're not posting for a while...hope everything settles well with the whole manda-clan and DS2 ok with the addition of DS3 and especially that DS3 settles into good feeding/sleeping routine so you can get some much needed rest. Oh, and of course that you have no more dramas re. measles in the house either!!!

martha try to stay calm...it being brown is a good thing as you know but I know this doesn't limit the metalling

boris hang in there. Well done for starting on the aspirin and try not to test too much...I tried to limit myself to weekly digi's in the early weeks, though the IC's are always very tempting. When was AF due/how far along are you at the moment?

WhyAlwaysBoris · 19/05/2012 14:57

Pixie, sorry about your MC, and glad you are beginning to feel a little better.

Tas, sorry to hear about AF. You will be missed on your break but i hope you have a great time with much alcohol, blue cheese, late nights and caffeine the morning afters xx

WhyAlwaysBoris · 19/05/2012 14:54

Manda many, many congratulations!!

Baby 'only 9lb 1oz' Grin

mumtum i hope you are managing to distract yourself somehow this weekend.

I bought some of the 75mg aspirin today that Midget mentioned for you and had trouble finding it at first as in Sainsburys the 75mg is behind the pharmacy counter and you have to ask them for it even though the much stronger 300mg is on the normal shelf Confused. So you might have to ask the pharmacist for it. It is very cheap- was about £1.50 for 100 tablets.

The ones i bought dissolve in water (GP said to use this type) but seem to have lots of bits that stick to the empty glass once you've drunk it- which makes me worry i'm not getting the benefit. Am i doing it wrong?

I still don't believe i am pregnant- whether this is intuition about things or just fear I don't know. I just know I have a really bad feeling about it all.

I tested again this morning in the hope that the tests that were fainter yestereday than the day before would have rallied and got stronger again. I got three negatives.

Have agreed with my DH I won't test again for a few days and if I haven't bled until tuesday will test again with another CB digital.

kirrinIsland · 19/05/2012 14:51

Martha I don't expect this to calm you down as I expect you are in full metalling mode, but if it's brown it's old - I had it a couple of times with DD and all was well didn't stop me having a melt down though
Phone the hospital for advice if you need to and maybe try and take it easy for a while.

ConfusedMumDotCom · 19/05/2012 14:51

Oh, and congratulations manda. Grin

ConfusedMumDotCom · 19/05/2012 14:50

Hi Martha. I had that with the pg for my DD and my mc. I never checked it out, but put it down to the plug forming. I'm sure everything will be ok.

kirrinIsland · 19/05/2012 14:46

Congratulations manda - fabulous news Grin
Glad to hear you are both doing well, take care xxx

MarthasHarbour · 19/05/2012 14:42

ok so i am on full metal throttle, went to the loo this morn and i wiped a bit of brown on the tissue. so i went again about 10 mins later as i had felt a gush and there was, what i can describe as, brown mucus, went again about 2-3 times since and the brown mucus is all but gone now.

someone please tell me this is either old blood or implantation. i am 4+5 today

MarthasHarbour · 19/05/2012 14:36

oh manda congratulations and well done!!!!! sooooo happy for you, and glad it was relatively stress free for you Smile i will miss you over the next few days/weeks but will let you off this time Wink

looking forward to pics of the gorgeous boy - and well done again Thanks Thanks

MandaHugNKiss · 19/05/2012 13:50

Sorry to keep you all on tenterhooks - I got home yesterday afternoon but haven't been able to get it together enough to update until now.

So, Baby arrived at 1.45am yesterday, only 9lb 1oz. He's very sleepy and congested thanks to a rapid labour again (once it finally started - I had indeed SROM'd on the morning of the 17th (yes, his due date blue! )). Waters going but no contractions was a blessing, it meant I got two lots of antibiotics onboard (i'm gbs+) although after six hours and a sweep of nothing doing they started talking about synto drip which I said I was very keen to avoid (worried about hyperstimulation given once I start its usually quick). It wasn't until after two vigorous (read: ouch) sweeps further and around half an hour before they were gonna call time on waiting that my body finally agreed to play ball...

That was at 11.30pm when I was a 'firm, 4cm. Not a good labouring 4cms'. DF had to leave at 11.15 as we were out of childcare/time for DS2 - he's never spent a night away from both of us and as much as DF wanted to be with me I was worried about DS2 and in my mind his needs were more pressing than mine. Pain came on hard and fast and midwife offered me pethidine. I've had two good experiences with it but thought there might not be enough time between getting it and baby arriving for it to clear his system so asked for a half dose. Midwife sais 'based on what i've just seen from your last exam (at 11) I'd be happy for you to have a full one'. I went with my gut and the lower dose. And, sure enough, he arrived an hour and 45mins later.

I don't recognise him! I think, I was really expecting him to look like DS2 (even though I hadn't given it much conscious thought) and he really doesn't! He's very dark/red skinned, lots of black hair. And sleepy. Because obviously the pethidine is in his system. You'd think I'd take the opportunity to rest/sleep but I'm fretting he's sleeping too much, not eating enough (he keeps throwing up as full of mucous from the quick birth)... and I can't switch off until I literally pass out. So I'm running on 6 hours sleep in the last 58 hours give or take. Actually don't feel too bad (post delivery rush of hormones and andrenaline, I thank you!) but know the crash will come (fully expect to be weepy tomorrow).

And I may not recognise him, but I do adore him...

Forgive me if I don't post as regularly as usual for a little while, won't you?

Love to all! xxx

BlueCrane · 19/05/2012 11:57

bonzo have you tested again this morning?

martha how are you doing?

mumtum so glad your DH was there to support you. Make sure you get some time booked off work after the op.

pixie sorry to read your news but welcome to the thread - these ladies are really fab for advice and hand holding and (sadly) we all have experience of a part of life we wish we could've avoided! But, there are also some great Grin stories where things are now working out!

I have had a ridiculous lie in this morning so only just had my cereal...still hungry though so think I may have to go and dig crumpets out to toast as well...

Midgetm · 19/05/2012 10:41

Just a quickie...

mumtum baby aspirin is prescribed if there is a clotting issue. St Mary's prescribe 150mg per day from a BFP (don't take it before and always with food). Probably doesn't do any harm to self medicate but I would check with EPU on a BFP. I self medicated with 75mg with DD1 before my referral to st Mary's. For me it is a wonder drug (already had 3 or 4 losses before her) but I over clot. My only successful pregnancies have been down to simple baby aspirin. You buy it at the chemist 75mg. X
