Asseyez-vous mes amies and ready yourselves for the BESH Eurovision contest ever. Get ready with your Central European fashion, transvestites and inability to sing anything in tune. Get ready to rip your skirts off and leave your other halves no option but to make their mind up (do you see what I did there?) to get down to some swi and do your best not to think of Terry Wogan at any point in the proceedings. Finally, get ready to yell ?nul points? at the evil Droid should it dare to make an appearance.

Newbies, approach in high euro-camp mode, find and complete the BESHtionnaire to let us judge whether you are cynical and menkul enough to join us.

I was forced encouraged to sit through watch the Die Hard quadrilogy. I was a bit Shock to find I enjoyed them! Second one is my favourite :) My favourite thing about that story is that he always does the loved you in Die Hard! in a really high pitched voice!
Why does MSB make you think of tickers and t'other places? It was only really inspired because he was obsessed with the ruddy Haribo super mix at the time of choosing. He is very Squidgy too!

sinkingflameofhilarity · 14/05/2012 20:19

Arf at MSB. Is die hard any better then Harry potter?!

And I think I had no idea what MSB stood for. It brings tickers and other forums to mind. Can we have a recap of other halves titles? I can't remember what any of them are. GHJ is ginger hairy jock but I sometimes forget and change the letters round as the mood takes me

sinkingflameofhilarity · 14/05/2012 20:15

Well hello queenrollo. I've seen your name around these parts before- I wouldn't dream of anything other that welcoming you back. Glad to hear all the medical fiddling seems to have done the job. God bless laparoscopies.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 20:11

Ah Alan Rickman, MSB Mr Squidgy baybee my DH's nickname on here met him once. He said all these little kids were calling him Snape. MSB went up and said Loved you in Die Hard! Grin
Well since I knew you from elsewhere, I will vouch for you

queenrollo · 14/05/2012 20:03

In the interest of fun i'm going to leave my original answers in but put updates in bold because some things have changed since I first did it.

  1. Do you like gin? (This is compulsory, you must say 'Yes')

I think i must own shares in Bombay Sapphire by now. The sloe gin i made was very nice....we were serenading the radiator by about 1.30pm on Boxing Day.

i've now moved on to Hendricks. it's expensive and I kept the first bottle I drank and turned it into a lamp 70's stylee

  1. Men - are you a gold digger or a cradle snatching cougar?

I traded in the old (younger) model after 14 years for an older more reliable model.
proving to be one of the best things I ever did

  1. Baybee-making - to put a baybee in your tumtum, which hole do you use: a) weewee b) poopoo c) foofoo d) none, you just pray to the baby Jebus.

c...
i tell you what.....getting it in there is a damnsight easier and more fun than getting it out......

  1. Testing - when someone wonders if they should test for updiff (pg), do you: a) bellow 'POAS!' at them non-stop and punch them repeatedly in the kidneys till they wet themselves anyway. b) Sprinkle them with babydust and send them hugs and kisses on lickle baby angel wings.

er........a........

  1. Is R2D2: a) an adorable robot from Star Wars. b) the source of all evil.

b.........

  1. what colour are your walls?

various shades of tester pot. recently moved and deciding what colours i want.

dining room is white with a malachite coloured chimney breast, living room is deep red, bedroom two deep red walls and two white, spare bedroom and child's room yellow. All Farrow and Ball because DH does the decorating and refuses to use any other paint. Except the chimney breast. I put my foot down because I really wanted that colour

  1. Number of pets?

2 smelly bin raiding labradors

alas both my lovely hounds are no longer with us

  1. Inappropriate (read: weird) crush of shame?

Alan Rickman

  1. Lesbian crush?

Dita Von Teese

i've gone off the Teese. for some reason I've been watching a lot of Sandra Bullock films lately. Am I having a pre mid-life, mid-life crisis

  1. What are your views on camping?

i have three tents and a campervan. I frequent festivals during a british summer. I have just reached the stage where a blow up mattress is making onto the shopping list for this summer.

we sold the campervan and bought a retro 70's caravan. the tents are languishing in the shed. they are staying there

  1. How much money have you spent on sticks you then urinate on? i) Oh nothing, I'll probably catch first time and then get the doctor to confirm it. ii) Over 100 quid iii) I opened an account on ebay solely for the purpose of purchasing sticks

nothing yet. Last time i didn't have a regular cycle and so spent a fortune. This time i'll be more relaxed about it. hmm yeah right........grin

i went through a stage of needing a second mortgage to feed my pee-stick habit. then I hit the despair of never getting updiffed and stop buying them. I think a third mortgage will be imminent

am i in?

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 19:43

Hi queenie, perhaps you could c&p your BESHtionnaire? So the BESHes get an idea of what you're about? and what colour your walls are?!

queenrollo · 14/05/2012 19:08

can I join in here again? I was on the Besh threads about a million years ago, but decamped to the Hut while the doctors were prodding and poking me and trying to find out why I kept failing in my attempts to win a baybee....
I'm allegedly all fixed now after they stabbed me three times in the belly and stuck cameras and things in me.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 18:30

How annoying euro! I don't think I've laid my egg yet either. Might lure MSB back to bed again after dinner..,
Now I don't have PCOS but I do a balanced low GI diet has its benefits. I can well believe it directly causes depression since your hormones are all over the shop. I'm trying to get back on the sensible eating waggon after falling off so drastically the last few weeks. Still too sniffly to exercise but have eaten ok today resisted a three pack of creme eggs in the co-op so I'm off to a good start!

eurochick · 14/05/2012 18:14

The Colette Harris book is great. I learned a lot about the condition from that.

I try to eat low GI (although it has slipped a bit recently). I don't follow any particular set plan but try to avoid white bread/pasta/rice and refined sugar. If I do have something sugary, like chocolate dried fruit, I try to have some protein (nuts) with it, which takes down the overall glycaemic load the body needs to deal with.

Whenever I slip and have to get back into it, i find breaking the sugar dependancy hard, but once it is done, it gets much easier.

I don't think I have ovulated yet. Which is annoying as I had my LH surge on Saturday and day 14 was yesterday. I needn't have rushed over to the clinic at stupid o'clock on Sunday monring for the IUI. Grrr. Stoopid body. It has followed the 14/16 alternativng pattern for months!

CaveMum · 14/05/2012 18:08

I've got Colette Harris' "Ultimate PCOS Handbook", which has lots of good advice and menu plans, etc in. I cried reading the section on depression last night as it all rang so true. Interestingly there is a school of thought that PCOS might cause depression, rather than women getting depressed generally about the condition and its side effects.

I bought "The Low GL Diet Made Easy". It's got a 3 week menu planner which will be useful.

I've always had a very sweet tooth, so I guess I'm going to have to learn to curb that, or satisfy it in other ways.

Northey · 14/05/2012 17:54

What book did you get, cavey? I have a low gi for PCOSers book too, but have never managed to get into it. I vaguely thought that just losing weight would be enough, and did that by other means, but from reading a few thugs recently I have also started to think more about the need to balance hormones and prevent insulin spikes and so on.

Northey · 14/05/2012 17:52

What's your PCT, hilarity? God knows hat is happening with the move to Clinical Commissionig Groups and what hae you, but for now I would just start by googling the fertility policy of your old pct.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 14/05/2012 15:39

Well... I needn't have worried, but was a pretty pointless appointment. I barely had time to sit down. GP not surprised about having to refer, but said I shouldn't have been told to make an appointment - normally they just get sent a letter asking them do refer me on. Maybe things will go a bit quicker as I've missed out the clinic letter typing to posting to being read and acted on...

The only thing she said was "prepare yourself for a wait" but wouldn't elaborate on that... Hmmm.

Anyone know how I can find out how many nhs cycles I'm entitled to?

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 14:59
sinkingflameofhilarity · 14/05/2012 14:55

I've toyed with the idea of a low GI diet cave. I'm a normal bmi, am pretty active and think I eat pretty well, but have a weakness for crisps. I suspect they are a bad food group for pcosers especially. But, I'd imagine the bad food is the fun food, so I'm playing ignorant and just half heartedly cutting down my caffeine and upping the exercise. Let me know how you get on- every little helps...

Sat in gp waiting room. Fingers crossed they can refer me for ivf. I still think its really weird the clinic doesn't do this, so am a bit nervous the gp will just give me a Hmm look.

CaveMum · 14/05/2012 14:48

Finally spoke to a nurse. I'm not to take any more Clomid this cycle as it is only a week since I last took the pills.

I'm to "see how it goes naturally" but still go for blood tests.

I've been having a bit of a lifestyle assessment and have been out and bought a Low GI diet book as that is supposed to help with PCOS. I don't need to lose weight, but if following a plan can help to balance my hormones out I may as well give it a try.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 14:28

Oh and dor I'm really pleased the bleeding stopped. I'm sure the stretching is normal and just the bean settling in!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 14:27

Bonjourno schlags! Very quiet hear today....
I survived my first morning back at work. Only had 120 emails! Thought it would be more Hmm but had some nice welcome backs from people which cheered me!

eurochick · 13/05/2012 23:06

Faith no, he hasn't had any blood tests apart from HIV and Hepatitis at the IVF clinic. Because his tests were just about within normal levels he wasn't referred for any further tests. I'll try to suggest it though - thanks.

Dor I can understand that the worrying never stops but that all sounds normal to me!

Lemony I hope you had a nice break.

Efficiency is always a good thing, Norfy.

FriendofDorothy · 13/05/2012 21:53

I am alright. No more bleeding since Wednesday but feeling weird stretching pains which I am paranoid about. I think they are normal but I am generally panicked all the time!

ShredniVashtar · 13/05/2012 21:51

Hello lemony! Hope you had a nice time. I miraculously escaped a hangover after Friday night's vino drinking. To be honest after 18 months of cutting right back I'm now such a lightweight that I come over all wobbly after two glasses! Day 5 here so gearing up for sechs in earnest. Earnest sechs, eh? The glamour of ttc. I've been all over the place emotionally this last week - snapping one minute, dissolving into tears the next. Hopefully now that the weathers improving and the droid has finally got knotted my mood will lift a bit too.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 13/05/2012 21:45

dor had a scary time but has now seen bean....how are you feeling dor?
Not a lots been happening really drizzlepops. I got my first smiley opk....I think it has added pressure to the sechsing. In future assuming no bfp this cycle! I won't tell him when I get it.
Good news all round, borrowed futon mattress now on top floor of rented house rather than underneath us :) so less chance of being heard and after me texting MSB not to be late he has returned with beers for his friend rather than going to the pub. I think MSB is conscious of not putting a foot wrong because it's such a sensitive situation. Think he realises how lost he'd be without me too! Grin no harm in that!
So tell us all about your holibobs drizzy!

Northey · 13/05/2012 21:42

Well hello msdrizzle! Nothing much of excitement, apart from cavey's incompetent doctors who insisted she was ovulating when she wasn't, and nearly muffed up her Clomid cycle.

I have followed the nurse's instruction for the day and sechsed perfunctorily but adequately . Just have to do tomorrow as well, then rescan on Tuesday.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 13/05/2012 21:22

Quick wave from Rulvakia, where I have been holidaying - did I miss anything exciting? BFPs? Gossip and slander?

Faith that is a dodgy story, indeed. He has no rights to a quiet room, so sechs away... It is very kind of you to take him in!!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 13/05/2012 20:54

Hmm MSB's colleague's missus has booted him out found photos of his ex on his phone Hmm not good and he was literally going to sleep rough, in his car I suspect so we've taken him in for the night. I do not condone his behaviour but I'm not so cruel to stop him having a roof over his head. I am a bit Angry that MSB declined two lures to bed earlier now this chap will be kipping on living room under our room tonight! Stealth sechs ahoy assuming he doesn't drink much more in the pub consoling him! I am making the most of the time to myself by watching New Moon.
