3 days before makes it far more unlikely to happen. Best is day before ovulation (in an ideal world obviously). having said that even when doing it to perfect timing is no guarantee, there are numerous reasons why a fertilised egg may not successfully implant.

Flightty · 13/04/2012 10:22

Hooray Treats, that's wonderful news Smile

Just a quick question, gals...looking at the chart, it seems pretty clear now that it was three days before ov and that wasn't close enough. but I've read everywhere that it's very possible to get pregnant this close to ovulation...

anecdotally, is this much less likely than say the day before ov, or were we just unlucky? I'm swinging between thinking it'll never happen to us and that we just didn't try hard enough (DP went away for work the day after, so missed days 13-17, ov was day 15).

I guess it can't hurt to try a bit closer to it, but because we get limited opportunities, I don't want to get the day wrong iyswim.

Thanks x

Treats · 13/04/2012 10:10

Finally! A temp rise on Day 24..... So NOW the 2ww begins properly. I'm totally sticking to the sleigh for the time being, although mine could well be a January baby at this rate.

Due date calculator says 26th December, based on date of last period, but add 9 days on for later ovulation = 4th January. But then factor in likely C-section due to past history at 38 weeks, so take off 14 days = 20th December. They'll probably want to book me in before Christmas week, rather than leaving me until after, so either 20th or 21st December.

Not getting ahead of myself, am I? [winks]

Feeling much better today - have been torturing myself with thoughts of early menopause and cursing that my always-absolutely-regular cycles have suddenly gone haywire just at the most crucial time.

Sorry to hear AF arrived Duke - enjoy the Wine - it could be the last month for a while......

Springflowers - fx

Wiggy29 · 12/04/2012 22:15

Ohhh, perhaps someone on here will get a 'buy one get one free' January treat; anybody on here have twins in the family? We do!

EmpireBiscuit · 12/04/2012 22:10

January babies - cheap at half the price.

Night all x

lastboxoftampons · 12/04/2012 22:05

I'm all for riding the sleigh well into the new year if that's okay with everyone else? Laughing at Empire "Babies 50% off" just popped into my head Grin

Hello Smile here you go Brew

So sorry Duke Sad chocolate and wine all around xx

Think I'm CD8 here...still waiting on my vits and thermometer. c'mon Amazon!

Wiggy29 · 12/04/2012 21:59

Lime- that should have been: 'Oh I feel your pain'.

Wiggy29 · 12/04/2012 21:52

Keep the sleigh! I mean, Santa gives out the pressies on Crimbo day but he has to travel all the way back to the North Pole and that must take awhile, perhaps a few lovely bundles will slip off the sleigh as it heads back in January?

KatKyn- how very exciting, lets have some more good news!

Duke/ Panda- sorry to hear that. I'm cosoling myself by thinking if they had their little bday party near Crimbo a few people friends might be unable to go and that would upset them (oh yes, it's tedious alright but it's some small comfort)

Springflowers- stick in there! There may be good news yet.

Limeleaf- O fee your pain! After a mild start, I woke up with banging headache and blood all over, thought a really light AF when not on the pill was too good to be true. Started very light to encourage a false sense of security before the (ahem) flood gates truly opened. Tonight I feel sick with cramp but that's also possibly because I just inhaled half of DS's Easter goodies (will replace tomorrow). Ah well, the Af gets what the AF wants and tonight it was Smarties and Rolos.

coveredinflour · 12/04/2012 20:47

Hello all!

I came, then went and have been lurking for a week or so!

Sorry for all the AF hassle! But good news for the couple of bfps!!

I'm not testing until mon or tues but no symptoms at all. Not even a slightly sore boob so not holding my breath! :-(

KatKyn · 12/04/2012 20:38

I should join this thread although looks like lots of peeps are just leaving, sorry guys, hope it works for you next time. My AF is due in 10 days time giving me a due date of end of December. We aren't officially TTC for number 2 as number 1 is just 19 months but we've DTD sans condom a couple of times over the weekend round my OV time so.............
Well who knows!
Good luck all.

EmpireBiscuit · 12/04/2012 20:26

Im all for keeping the sledge in action, bells a-jingling into January. Santa got lost tis all. Plus presents will be better as will be 50% off, left over chocolate can be munched guilt free AND a baby will fair cheer up the post Christmas blues.....yes...I think it's a fine plan.

Flightty · 12/04/2012 20:25

I like the idea of staying with you guys.

Lime, ds1 would love a baby, not sure about ds2! They know it's a possibility.

It will probably be my last though as I'm getting old!

Spring, I think it's the progesterone. You get a bit more of it when you're pg, which is funny as I remember having barely any symptoms when I was. The worst cycles I have tend to be the ones with a really bad period at the end!

Ho hum. See you tomorrow then my dears, early night here xx

Pipbin · 12/04/2012 20:16

'Crazy' I loved San Fran, although we did take a rather 'alternative' trip to it.

Jet lag could be to blame 'Lime'. OPKs show a light line so OV has either passed or is not far off.

Either way it would be early.

LimeLeafLizard · 12/04/2012 20:15

Then no-one need disembark and we can keep it Christmassy for the time being because there is still time for Santa to do his job for Spring and Pipbin and Crazy and Treats and ... is anyone else still in?!

LimeLeafLizard · 12/04/2012 20:10

Just had an idea - maybe we should do a 'Pimp my Ride' on this sleigh - redecorate and revamp it for a flight to 2013. and get different animals to pull it

LimeLeafLizard · 12/04/2012 20:04

Here you go duke... Wine ChocolateWine ChocolateWine ChocolateWine Chocolate

Sorry you're out, especially as you would have had the most Christmassy due date. These fertility reindeer need a good talking to!

LimeLeafLizard · 12/04/2012 20:02

It is a great thread, Spring. I am actually reluctant to disembark and find a 2013 one. No hurry, anyway. Good luck Panda let us know how you're travelling.

I have had a knackering (but good) day taking kids round a museum (Easter holidays) and I always feel more tired when AF is here anyway. At least I can now pour myself a large Wine without worrying about possible pg.

Pipbin could jet lag affect your temping?

Flightty your attitude sounds really balanced - give it a few more months, relax but know there are options out there - hope you don't need them anyway. Do your DSs know you'd like another baby, and would they like a little one? I think there can be lots of advantages to having bigger age gaps.

duke748 · 12/04/2012 19:54

I'm out too. Sad. Need chocolate and wine. Quick!

SpringFlowers · 12/04/2012 16:27

Thanks for all the well wishes guys, this is a great thread. It would be lovely for us to be ante-natal together. I feel like the last women standing. Do I get a baby as a prize Grin?

Nothing additional to report, day 26 has gone on a bit I must say. Still no spotting and I feel sick. That could just as easily be af as pregnancy which is annoying. Why are the symptoms the same?

I'm on my phone so can't read back properly. Will catch up later, hope all well and chirpy.

Crazytictac · 12/04/2012 14:33

Commiserations limeleaf and flightty. . I guess a tiny consolation is that at least you haven't got that "what if..." going over and over in your mind now. Sometimes AF can put you out of your misery.

pipbin did you go to San Fran? I've been but wondered what you thought of it as not what I expected! Fingers crossed for you this month.

I'm on DPO 3 so time is naturally going quite slowly.

PandaWatch · 12/04/2012 14:30

Hello all! After a break for pre-holiday work craziness, holiday, then (after AF coming the day after we got back Sad) a few days of tear-stifling at work and generally feeling sorry for myself I'm back to see how everyone is getting on before departing the sleigh for some sort of 2013 travel contraption.

Congrats to all those with good news!

Pipbin · 12/04/2012 13:58

Raised temp this morning. That said I didn't temp when we were away so I've not got a strong base line, however I only seem to get a temp this high post ov.
But it's only cd16 and I don't normally ov until day 20 to 22.
Who knows what is going on!

Treats · 12/04/2012 11:12

Lime and flightty - sorry to hear your news. Maybe you're already in the first week of your pregnancy though Wink.

Empire - it will definitely happen if you've got your white undies on!

Springflowers - I'm going to be here for a while yet so don't worry!

Still no sign of ov here....... Another low temp this morning and it's Day 23. Trying not to think about it.

LBOT - re your post from yesterday. We dTD every day for 10 day last month, and DH wanted us to take it a bit easier this month. So just every other day since Day 12 for us.

Flightty · 12/04/2012 11:12

Thanks guys...Empire you do make me laugh Smile I just ordered a load of OPKs and 10miu tests so I don't run out next month at the crucial moment.

Lime and Lbot, I've thought about it since someone suggested getting an SA done a few weeks ago (on another thread I think?) but tbh I don't want to put him through it. Not yet anyway, it depends how disappointed he is. It's only been a few months and tbh the first two we avoided the right times in a sort of 'not sure if we are both sure' sort of way. It was only this month we went for it and even that was by mistake! But I think we both know now that it's what we want.

I'm glad to hear it's not invasive...that's good to know if he does start to want to investigate. I guess I know I was fertile but last pregnancy was 5 years ago, and I'm 38, so I'm not sure how much things have changed.

I think we'll see how it goes for a few more months, anyway. It'll be almost a 10 year age gap for ds1 if we do manage it soonish. Shock

I'm another virgo btw, pleased to meet you Grin

lastboxoftampons · 12/04/2012 11:04

Sorry, just x-posted with you both.

Flightty depending on how your DP will react, it might be worth having him go for an a semen analysis. It's much less invasive than any testing you would have to do (just do his thing into a cup) and it gives a good picture of what you might be dealing with. Male factor issues are common and in most cases fairly easy to correct. When I was re-reading up on pycogenol I found a lot of stories about how just taking it for a pretty short amount of time made a huge difference for some people. I can't say for sure that that's what made the difference for us, but I have a good feeling that it did. But have you been trying long, or is it still relatively early for you guys? I would give it a few months. Good luck!
