Jingle jingle....anybody joining me? I figure this HAS to be my month if I'm starting the thread :o

OP posts:
Pipbin · 24/04/2012 13:02

Wiggy At work I only need to 'empty' my mooncup at lunch time really. To be honest I empty it out, give it a wipe round with toilet paper and give it a rinse under a hot tap when I get home.
The other option is to take a bottle of water in with you.

Well it's 11dpo here, a bit of spotting when I got up and that was it. Might test tomorrow.

Treats · 24/04/2012 12:52

Pipbin - maybe it'll be OK if you can 'prove' that your weight is on a downward trend and that you're taking action. Or you could wear high heels Smile.

blackcats - sorry you had a bfn, but it might still be OK. Still got fx for you.

Wiggy - thanks for your message. have you ov'd this month yet, or dont' you know?

lbot - have a great time in NY and I hope DS lets you relax a bit. You could have had a 'stairstep' increase where it goes up and then goes up some more. A very high post-o temp is good though - you were worrying before about how low they were, weren't you. Did you chart the temps in Fertility Friend? When does it think you ov'd?

Nothing to report from Treatsville today - other than that my AF seems to have been lighter than usual - which I've decided is a good sign for getting my hormones back into shape.......

lastboxoftampons · 24/04/2012 11:59

Hi everyone - yesterday's temp was very high which then makes me question the two earlier ones Hmm and didn't temp this morning as arrived in New York and got in late and DS awake in the night and got me up at 6am (thank god for Dora!). So I'm either 4dpo with well-timed shagging or 2dpo with little chance this month.

Lime I think it was you asking about O pain? It's not something I've really felt until I was obsessing about it recently but I usually get a pretty severe pinching/twinging on one side. This month I also had really achy ovaries. But even armed with that, it's hard to tell if the egg has just been released or if it's gearing up to in a few hour, days, etc. Hmm you know, just to add to the confusion Wink

As for "it could happen quickly" - I know you're all right. That's part of the reason we waited so long to TTc again, we've always firmly believed you shouldn't start trying until you're ready. I mean we ourselves got pg first go with when TTC for DS but then mc'd.

Sorry about BFN blackcat Sad

Treats hoping your tests give you some answers. I'm sure your cycle is just taking it's time settling down not to mention how stressful your experience has been. Hugs for you!

Lots of comments as been catching up with thread:

  1. Treats- I'm so sorry for your loss. My brother and his partner experienced something very similar with their son in June, I don't have any words but just want to say that my thoughts are with you. They just found out they are pregnant again but I think they'll be relieved when they have the 20 week scan as that was when problems were noticed last time (he had a diaphragmic (sp?) hernia) and we were only blessed with a few hours with him.
  1. Those asking about BMI- could you not try a steam room/ treatment that offers a few lbs off? I'm sure it's cheating but if needs must...
  1. Mooncups seem a great idea but what do you do if you need to rinse them in public (I'm thinking about my work toilets when I ask this).
  1. All those who've had negatives- how frustrating but I think we're all still in the running for January babies (are we? my Maths is terrible).

I'm convinced I'm not going to test this month unless I'm late but it still just seems yonks away at the moment (12/05), I guess that's the problem with testing early last month, it makes the next cycle seem to last forever!

LimeLeafLizard · 24/04/2012 09:43

Sorry I have completely forgotten to say sorry for your bfn, blackcats, BUT as you say yourself, it is too early to be very meaningful. I am still keeping FX for you!

LimeLeafLizard · 24/04/2012 09:41

blackcats I tried Paul McKenna a few years ago. I did loose a few pounds and especially was more positive and energetic.

I think I felt ov pains last night and my temp was up this morning, but not convincingly so (and that could be due to the number of times I had to get up in the night). So I think I have Ov'ed two days earlier than expected. Or maybe not. Arrrgghh why can't it be more simple and obvious?!

blackcatsdancing · 24/04/2012 07:54

i mean i thought it was 13DPO when i got my first BFP last time.

blackcatsdancing · 24/04/2012 07:53

well done on the weight loss Pipbin, 6 pounds in 2 weeks will be hard though it is possible (i wouldn't want to go so hardcore on a diet though) but maybe you'll be close enough to be referred . I'm trying to lose weight, i'm in healthy weight category but right at the top end so want to lose a stone and get back down to middle/ lower end, its hard! I'm trying the Paul Mckenna way. Not lost anything yet but i am generally eating better which is a good thing for me.

Well i tested , 11DPO and got a negative. Not surprised. I checked my pregnancy chart from last Nov and I only tested positive on 14DPO and that was faintly ( i thought it was 13) so i'll test again in a couple of days and see what happens. Not hopeful this month though. We only managed to BD once during fertile period (2 days prior to ov) as I came down with a hideous cold.

Pipbin · 23/04/2012 21:17

I'd get weighed in the nip if I thought it would do the job!
They will have my weight from a year ago on file as I was on the pill then and weighed every 6 months.
I've been running and doing Weight Watchers. To get the BMI correct I need to lose another 6 pounds in the next two weeks!
I'm hoping like you said Lime that they'll be sympathetic. I'd be OK if I was an inch taller!

Treats · 23/04/2012 20:57

blackcats - you're so right - it really was a comfort to have held him and to have known him just for that short time. We try to take all the positives we can out of the situation and that definitely was one. Obviously it explains why my hormones are all over the place, but also why I'm being such a control freak about seeing my doctor and getting things checked out Smile

Glad - in a way - that you were so busy today - you won't have had time to obsess about poas. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow......

LimeLeaf - strictly between you and me and the rest of Mumsnet I suspect that the no-alcohol tactic helped DH more than me - 3 months is the time it takes for new sperm to develop and I think the alcohol-free environment is what they needed. However, I don't think I could have asked him to stop drinking without making the same commitment myself. It was surprisingly easy once we'd started - especially as we were doing it together. We just stopped having beer and wine in the house. We occasionally ask each other 'permission' if we're going out with friends, but once you've cut back, you find it much easier to go without. It hasn't worked this time round for us, but I've clearly got ishoos that need sorting - I had very regular cycles both times before.

Pipbin - BMI is such a blunt instrument isn't it? I'm the same height as you, but a size 10 and even my BMI occasionally registers as overweight. Good luck with the nurse.

LimeLeafLizard · 23/04/2012 20:50

Well done on loosing a stone, pipbin, that is great. Hopefully if you are borderline and can show the amount that you've lost - i.e. how serious you are, she'll be optimistic about how much your clothes weigh! I've had up to 5lb deducted for clothes by the nurse during pg. Wish it were so easy to deduct in RL! If she says no, can you go back again when you've lost a bit more?

Pipbin · 23/04/2012 20:35

Well I've booked in for the nurse to weigh me to decide if my BMI is low enough to be referred to the fertility clinic.
Although I have lost about a stone recently I think I'll still be just over the limit. And all because I'm short! I'm a size 16 but at only 5'3" I'm classed as obese.

LimeLeafLizard · 23/04/2012 19:42

Do any of you get Ovulation Pain? What are the symptoms? I am wondering if that is what I have right now. Will google later.

treats don't worry about the tmi, that is why we have an anonymous forum!

That is interesting about the alcohol... I don't want to give up my Wine though! Though I'll obv have to give it up if & when I do get pg anyway, so perhaps it doesn't hurt to start early. Don't fancy my chances persuading DH to give it up though. He gets all smug if he goes for a whole week without a beer Hmm.

blackcats I will have my FX for you tomorrow!

blackcatsdancing · 23/04/2012 18:08

Hi all,
treats so sorry for your loss, i didn't know, how utterly dreadful, i suppose it must be some comfort that you got to meet him and had a few hours together. I used to get upset after my miscarriage whenever anyone showed sympathy so i won't say more . I expect your emotions will be playing havoc with your hormones right now, hope the tests show things that can be easily sorted out or better still that nothing is wrong.

I didn't test, had an early start at work today so no time. Tomorrow though!

Pipbin · 23/04/2012 18:08

Treats More spotting first thing, and some during my run, but after that nothing much.
I get the feeling that AF will show tomorrow. If she's not here by Thursday, I'm testing.

Lastbox I teach I girl who's older sister is just 11 months older. Discussing this with her mum she said that #1 took two years and they assumed the same would be true with #2!

Treats · 23/04/2012 14:54

lbot - I was 15 months ttc for the first and nine for the second. So it could well be quicker. Some of that was knowing a bit more about the process, and both times it happened 3 months after DH and I gave up drinking. So there's no need to think that it will take a long time with the second just because it did with the first. Don't get despondent - you have living proof that you can conceive and carry a healthy baby, so there's no reason why you shouldn't again!

Definitely going to look into a Mooncup. Even the supersize tampons can't get a purchase (tmi? you'd tell me, would you? Smile)

Got my Day 3 bloods done today and a follow up appt with the GP next Tuesday. So, no time to feel sorry for myself. And temps are back down to a typical pre-ov level. I was wondering for a while if there was something else going on - AF so early, temps so high - but I don't think so now.

Pipbin - any news?

blackcats - did you test today?

LimeLeafLizard · 23/04/2012 09:52

Treats you sound as though you're really balanced, all things considered! I was reading that temps during AF are often a bit erratic.

Mooncups are great! I wish I had one 20 years ago, thats all. Google to find their website for info, but you can buy them in Boots etc. I got mine on my local high st.

Lastbox, your friends may not get pg straight away 2nd time round. I know lots of couples who expected this to happen and it didn't, and they have a bigger age gap as a result. Equally, it could happen the other way.

Good luck to us all, interpreting quirks in our cycles!

Pipbin · 22/04/2012 23:16

Treats The Mooncup does take a bit of getting used to but I would never go back to anything else. I started using it because I get toxic shock from tampons, but I would still use it even given the option.
I've never been pregnant but I have now bought a new one in the bigger size as I think the passage of time has changed things.

lastboxoftampons · 22/04/2012 23:03

Treats Sad I don't know what's up. Of course I dont' want to get your hopes up, but a high temp even when you're bleeding is a good sign. Here you go Wine

Must be the month for wacky cycles. I took my temp twice this morning in succession. SEcond much higher than the first, which would've been below where the coverline will be. Already manipulating temps! But the weird thing is, I've started spotting today, which should be, if all my other signs are right, 2dpo. I had spotting right after what I thoguht was ovulation the past two months as well, though couldn't be sure because I wasn't temping and never got a postive OPK. In both instances AF arrived 10 days after I thought I ovulated, meaning the spotting actually did occur 2dpo (that is if my LP is still about 10 days) But it's strange to have spotting after ov, right? Hmm I know we should DTD tonight just in case, but I'm just so tired, and feeling really cranky, just can't manage it. I'm flying to New York with DS tomorrow and I just need to go to bed. I had given up on this month before we even started actually so I don't really have any preconceptions anyway. So Treats I completely understand what you say about if it hasn't happened straightaway then it really doesn't matter. I'm right there with you. Feeling a bit sad as friends are talking about having second babies and they all seemed to get PG in one cycle first time around, so think that they will second as well. We had trouble first time around, so where does that leave us this time Sad

Treats · 22/04/2012 22:35

How weird is this? My temp went UP this morning - second highest temp of the cycle (or last cycle I should say......) Can't explain it. AF having the time of her life with me today - really can't pretend that it's anything else.

Lime and Pipbin - I've been thinking about alternatives to tampons, actually. They (literally) don't seem to touch the sides with me anymore. I have heard the Mooncup discussed extensively on here and wonder if now is the time to check it out. It's sort of obvious that tampons would become less effective after one or two pregnancies, which is maybe why the Mooncup is so popular amongst mothers Smile

blackcats - thanks for your message. I had a baby five months ago but he died in my arms at six hours old. So, it's really not surprising that my hormones are all over the place. I didn't waste time seeing my GP because I don't want the stress of thinking I can't conceive to add to all my other woes.

Actually, AF has been less traumatic this time round. The last few times have felt as though I was losing another baby. But I've been a bit more chilled this weekend. Partly, I think, because it arrived so early that I hadn't had time to get my hopes up, but also because I was so invested in getting pregnant again straightaway. Now that 'straightaway' hasn't happened, I don't think it matters so much whether it's this month, or next month or six months time.

Flightty · 22/04/2012 13:36

Hello girls,

sorry for the absence. Not much to report here but this morning I had a temp spike, which is a bit early - CD11 here - and a positive OPK. Which is now fading out gradually Hmm

OPK yesterday was around lunchtime and getting darker. I don't know if I missed it by not doing it at bedtime as usual but we were out all night. Or maybe it's not a proper positive and it's still not happened.

hmmm. I am beginning to resent OPKs! Hope everyone is doing Ok. Will catch up later x

LimeLeafLizard · 22/04/2012 10:03

Wow Pipbin you are the mooncup pro! Fx AF continues to stay away.

Chair hope you feel better soon. You could take paracetamol at least?

We're hoping to get out in the garden today - lots to do. Hope the weather stays fine for a change!

Pipbin · 22/04/2012 09:39

I've been taking vitamin b6 to try and stop my spotting. You need to take 100mg of it with a vitamin b complex. Try Holland and Barrats vitamin b 50. It's 50mg of all the b vitamins.

blackcatsdancing · 22/04/2012 09:28

treats so sorry...I don't know your full story, was this a one off? I had weird cycles after my ERPC.
I think you're doing the right thing is seeing your GP asap though. Luteal phase defect can be improved by various mean, i've also heard many women swear by B vitamins- B6 i think is the one but defo see your GP to get an idea of what your hormones are doing. Good luck.

ChairOfTheBored · 22/04/2012 09:25

So sorry pipbin and treats -good luck with the doctor treats.

I feel grim - have been struck with a sinus infection, and because of irrational optimism that this is my month I can't take the good drugs...
