I turned 30 a couple of weeks ago.just have to reassure myself that the majority of us will be pregnant within the first year&the vast majority of us by the second year.that said, I'm only on c1 so it's probably a lot easier said then done.

Pipbin · 27/03/2012 22:03

Don't Treats you and me are in almost the same place.

I've been married for 10 years and I've spent all that time trying to persuade DH to start trying. It's been 10 cycles now and I'm going to be 37 in a week.
Massively depressed.

Treats · 27/03/2012 21:50

I sometimes wonder what the hell I thought I was DOING in my twenties when I could have been having babies. I've got no excuses - I met DH when I was 21 and we got married when I was 25. We still waited until I was 32 before we had DD. Obviously, I know that's hindsight talking and I had excellent reasons at the time for not wanting babies (and, actually, I think DD came along at just the right time for us), but if we aren't blessed with another baby, I'll always kick myself for not getting things started a bit earlier.......

Pinkie29 · 27/03/2012 21:39

limeleaf and treats I've had similar experiences about a week after when I think I've ovd I've had a sort of nighling/scratching more or less in the middle of my bikini line not cramp like af type, then it disappears and af arrives, I'm 30 on Friday but guess we all get less fertile with age Sad typical that I've spent the last 14yrs doing everything I can not to get preg and now it's harder than I thought! x

Wiggy29 · 27/03/2012 21:24

Nellies me= mellows me.I henceforth promise that I will proof read all posts done from my mobile before pressing 'post message'.

Wiggy29 · 27/03/2012 21:22

Argh!I mean 'think' not 'thing' about- this is what I get for posting on my mobile.

Love the idea of being able to share thoughts/feelings with others at a similar stage. Hard to know what it feels like unless you're going through it.dh is mega chilled and just assumes it will happen within a couple of months which is great as it nellies ne but also frustrating as he doesn't tolerate any of my 'what if it doesn't conversations.

Wiggy29 · 27/03/2012 21:18

Ohhh,it's exciting to thing about!I seem to go from very exited to really quite stressed at the idea of it all.I'm a bit of a control freak in some areas so hate not knowing if/when it will happen.I'm sure I'd be much calmer if I hadn't had all the health issues linked to this.we'll see how it goes.my sis in law when to doctors today& they refused to do test as she's only 1 day over (though she's done 3 of her own-all positive).

Treats · 27/03/2012 20:53

....more chances.

(Don't know why my message posted before I was ready......)

Good luck with the charting Wiggly - I find it quite reassuring to know what's going on and you can be quicker to pinpoint what's going wrong if it's taking a while to conceive if you know what's going on with your cycle.

Treats · 27/03/2012 20:51

Limeleaf - that's been my experience too! Two weekends ago I could have sworn blind that my cramps were implantation, but turned out not to be. The only downer I have on TCOYF is that she is quite negative about how easy it is to fall pregnant after 35 (we started TTC #3 on my 35th birthday).

I'd always thought that the impact of age was less frequent ovulation and less CM, but it turns out that it also impacts implantation, and that the 'quality' of your eggs declines, meaning that they're harder to fertilise.

On the bright side, it really just means that you have to give it

LimeLeafLizard · 27/03/2012 20:40

That was a quick purchase Wiggy! Hope charting works for you.
My DS1 almost the same age as yours then. I know a few in his class who've had little siblings recently - a bigger age gap seems to be working well for them.

LimeLeafLizard · 27/03/2012 20:38

Welcome Eleanora! May I offer you a Wine? Top up, anyone? I have just opened a bottle of red but will only be having one small glass just in case!

pinkie yes you're right that the temp only tells you the day after you ovulate... you really have to watch your CM to predict in advance. If you keep doing this for several cycles you begin to notice a pattern. It is important to look for general trends in temp though, not just the number on any given day.

Typically, I have EWCM from days 11 - 13, less CM (turning sticky) on day 14, and a temp jump on day 15. I think then that I must ovulate late on day 13.

The last couple of months I have felt very crampy 7 days after OV which I have thought might be implantation. Why then am I not pg? Well I was reading that gradually as you move through your 30s, a fertilised egg is less and less likely to survive implantation. I am now 36 so I guess we just have to keep trying.

Pinkie29 · 27/03/2012 20:22

Pipbin I've just been looking at your chart, would you have ovulated roughly day 22 then? I'm a bit lost on how it's meant to help as you don't know you've ovulated until the temp has rose? x

Crazytictac · 27/03/2012 19:49

Hee hee hee @ wiggy, love the auto correct!

Welcome aboard eleanora, my DS is 2 next month and is wild so I know where you're coming from!

Pipbin · 27/03/2012 19:47

Wiggy, just in morning. And yes, before you do ANYTHING else. Keep your thermometer by your bed. Mine has a memory, so at the weekend I wake up, take my temp and go back to sleep.

And you can have Fertility Friend for free but the price is not so bad and you can track supplements too. my charts here

In other news, looks like I'm off the previous flight and onto the sleigh. Getting very fed up now.

Wiggy29 · 27/03/2012 19:27

Dtd NOT STD tonight!that doesn't sound appealing at all!excuse the auto-correct!

Wiggy29 · 27/03/2012 19:25

I was in the chemist tonight for none pregnancy related matters& 'stumbled' upon thermometers (by stumbled,I mean actively sought out the woman to ask where they were)- I'm now a proud owner.going to check out fertility friend tonight&start logging in morning. Pretty sure it's too late for this month but will help me gauge the lay of the land for next month. We're going to STD again tonight for good measure&then drop to every other night for rest of the week

Am I right in thinking you take temp first thing in morning before you do anything else?also,do you take it at bedtime too?

Thanks again for support&advice

PS- limeleaflizard, yes,ds is 7& will be 8 in November.he would be ecstatic about having a brother or sister.hopefully he'll be getting one soon.x

Eleanora · 27/03/2012 13:30

Hi all,

Please can I join you? We have just started ttc #2 this month. Excited but scared as DS is only 18 months and still a lot of work! Here are my stats:

Eleanora (33) ttc#2, cycle 1, AF due 10th April

LimeLeafLizard · 27/03/2012 12:04

Hi again QT and welcome Wiggy! Good to have you on board... the sleigh is filling up now!

Wiggy once you are pregnant you can join an antenatal thread... but lots of people seem to stay around for a while until they are really sure, and to offer moral support to the ones still in their 2ww. If you don't get a bfp this 'flight' I expect there will be another one taking off soon after!
So is your DS 7 years old then? Same as my DS1.

I think I ov'ed this morning but not 100% sure... will have to see if my temp goes up tomorrow. Hope we have done enough this month... might have to waylay DH once more tonight just to be sure!

Wiggy29 · 26/03/2012 23:19

I wasn't sure about joining as I was so confused by dates,I wasn't sure this was the right flight for me!now I'm on I think it is! I'm going to give it until the end of this month, then get thermometers etc. All very exciting (&nerve wracking). so how does this work?Do you exit the flight if you fall pregnant or do you stay on if you fall this month? As I said,I'm a newbie so please excuse ignorance!

Pinkie29 · 26/03/2012 22:55

Thanks for all the advice ladies Grin just downloaded fertility me and got my thermometer ready for the morning! x

I've got this one from Amazon:
here

It can't just be a regular one, it has to take your temperature to two decimal places as the difference in temperature is slight.

You need to take your temp at the same time every day when you wake up before you do ANYTHING else.

You'll need to use it with charting site like Fertility Friend. my charts here
Temping won't tell you in advance when you ovulate but it will tell you afterwards. Couple that with OPKs and checking your cervical fluid and you'll become very familiar with your cycle.

Wiggy29 · 26/03/2012 20:27

So, I was looking at thermometers on Boots website. Is it just a normal, stick it in your mouth type of one I need?

Pipbin · 26/03/2012 20:17

I've got a foot in both camps here.
I'm sure that AF is going to turn up any minute, but she hasn't yet.

I really recommend fertility friend too.

Treats · 26/03/2012 19:45

Fertility Friend is very useful if you're just starting to get your head round charting as it does the coverline for you. All you need is one of these and then you just enter your temperature every day in the chart.

But the key thing you need to look out for is your cervical fluid as that's the indicator to the best time to DTD. You're looking for stretchy, egg-whitey fluid. That's a really basic intro to Fertility Awareness which is what Toni Wechsler talks about in her book.

asianbabe - sorry it's taking so long Sad.

Wiggy - why do you think you can't join? There isn't an entrance test!! Happy to have you aboard.
