How long did it take you to concieve your 2nd?

Going into month 6 of trying for a 2nd child. I fell pregnant with DS after just 3 months, so I am finding it all a little disheartening. I was wondering how long it took others to concieve again in relation to previous pregnancies.

Twenty minutes...

Bozza · 12/02/2006 17:51

DS took 3 months, DD took one attempt. But I know my friend was the other way round conceiving her first nearly straight away and it taking nearly a year for her second.

Coriander73 · 12/02/2006 17:43

1st...without realising...2nd..2 months

Good luck

muma3 · 12/02/2006 14:22

3 months from trying to concieve with dd3 !

susanjayneh · 12/02/2006 14:17

Sam took over 10 yrs to conceive and my second pg was 3 months later on the first attempt. Sadly we lost that one at 12 weeks but are now ttc again so who knows.

Month 6 only? Don't worry. You could try using Persona to find out when you're fertile - worked for me both times. I miscarried at least twice before conceiving ds. He was born 3 yrs & 2 mos after dd.

mummygow · 05/02/2006 09:39

9 mnths 1st time, 1 month the 2nd.

suzywong · 05/02/2006 09:35

Pfer · 05/02/2006 09:32

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2006 09:12

Straight away - 1st time!!

Mandymoo · 04/02/2006 22:45

sorry, should have read "took me" and not "too me" !!

Mandymoo · 04/02/2006 22:44

sorry, havent read the whole thread yet but..........................

1st - within 3 months
2nd (currently 27 weeks pregnant) 2nd time of trying!! - although too me almost 6 months after coming off pill to have regular cycle

pinkmagic1 · 04/02/2006 21:54

I'm only 26, so age isn't really an issue. I was on the pill (microgynon), the same one as I was on before I fell pregnant with DS. We do it at least every other night (blush) so timing shouldn't be too much of a problem! My cycle has changed from 28 days as it was before I fell pregnant with DS, to 24-25 days so I don't know if this could be the issue.

1st - one month
2nd - one month
3rd - whoops! (fell pregnant during a period )

ionaming · 02/02/2006 20:53

P.S. Echo what Twiglett said further down. First doc also tried to fob me off ("you've had one child so of course you can conceive another"), but sought 2nd opinion & got referred (on NHS) to infertility consultant. Now on cycle 17 of ttc no. 2 and waiting for AF to arrive so I can start taking clomid for secondary infertility / subfertility.

cutekids · 02/02/2006 20:51

was on clomid to help me conceive for first-took me about 2 and a half years then. found myself pregnant again when daughter was 3 months and pregnant again when son was 3 months!!!

1 month for first....15 months (so far) for number 2, but still not pregnant

Latz · 02/02/2006 19:53

3 years for dd
still trying for No 2 - after just over a year
starting to think I've missed the boat
37 and my cycle and periods have gone to pot - my age apparently

Mercy · 02/02/2006 19:53

dd - about 4 months of not really trying, ie, not planning around fertile times etc

2nd pregnancy - 1 month (early miscarriage)

ds - 1 month again

And I was almost 37 when I conceived dd, so you just can't tell how, when or where.
