Good morning everyone. I've just been catching up - cake that is wonderful news, congratulations. Also sorry to dorita - I hope it all settles down soon.
I've had a very metally few days. This MC has turned me into a massive hypochondriac and I've been worrying about hypothyroidism as my mum has it and my gran did too. I'm so desperate to do everything I can to prevent another MC so I have made an appointment for a thyroid test on thursday. I feel so silly about it as I find it hard to sort out the reasonable worries from the irrational ones. The good news is AF is coming to an end so we can try again. I've been charting and have my OPKs at the ready. Heres hoping for some good news. I'm just hoping I don't have an underactive thyroid which will delay TTC again.

WhyAlwaysBoris · 24/04/2012 09:05

Dorita, AF is a bitch, sorry.

StateofConfusion · 24/04/2012 00:27

Sorry dorita xxxx

midge a reason is what I want more than anything, hence the obsessive "do things differently" I'm considering speaking to my midwife about asprin but worried she'll poopoo the idea.

Calmer tonight, I think.

Midgetm · 23/04/2012 22:43

Sorry Dorita AF is a bitch. If you had a negative test previously though maybe a chemical? Have you tested again and got a negative?

Boris I think I was lucky with DD that 75 got me through the first 3 months but I think I should have at least taken it for longer but also upped the dose. I often think then DD would have had less problems. Terrified this time though I may have to give birth to an actual normal size baby (I am a midget after all). I would ask consultant. All my clotting tests came back normal until I had the TEG test at ST Mary's. Such a relief to find a reason. We all want reasons right? X

kirrinIsland · 23/04/2012 22:30

Sorry dorita :(

Dorita75 · 23/04/2012 22:15

Sooooooooooo...turns out you can still have the pregnancy hormone 9 wks after a mc and ERPC...AF arrived today despite faint line on 2 Tesco test at wkend...bloody annoyed at my stupid body and stupid tests. Will be ok, just getting on my tits about the fertility window! Thought I'd be pg straight off, well, hoped....anyway, that's the outcome this time, roll on next month, until then it's wine o'clock...

Thank you for those who messaged yesterday Smile

kirrinIsland · 23/04/2012 21:39

Congratulations cake :)

Jaffa I conceived after one cycle after my mmc in Jan so I have had a month off being pregnant since October - I know what you mean about feeling stuck in the first trimester forever, and it is exhausting.

WhyAlwaysBoris · 23/04/2012 21:17

congratulations cake, must be v scary but it is still brilliant news.

Midget, can i ask, do you mean that you think the 75mg of aspirin helped with DD, but wasn't a high enough dose to prevent the clots altogether and that is why she was low birth weight?

I ask as my baby's PM suggested it died as a result of a clotting problem, so the consultant has suggested 75mg of aspirin as a starter if i get pg before the results of all the tests come back, but DH and I have been having tentative discussions about whether we should up the dose to 150mg ourselves seeing as it is pretty definite it is a clotting issue, they just seem reluctant to suggest any other meds until they have all the tests back that prove it as such. Then of course we would have metalling about doing this and would it be safe etc, but would be interested in your views.

JaffaSnaffle · 23/04/2012 21:12

Congratulations Cake, and State wonderful news. I conceived straight after my mc this time. It is a mixed blessing, but feels more and more like a blessing as time goes on. It is hard at first, because you have barely had time to process what has happened, and I think it is also quite physically knackering. I have basically been pregnant since Christmas, (would be 20 weeks now), but I am only 11+3. I feel like I will be living in the first trimester until the end of time. Take lots of vitamins, eat well, sleep as much as you can. But I think it is also a good thing because you are not counting off months ttc. And it is no more risky than waiting. The advice to wait a month is to make dating easier. I think if your body lets you get pregnant, you are physically ready. So try not to worry, just look after yourself.

I have a stuffy nose, and it is caused by progesterone. I have had in pregnancy before. It's a bit of a nuisance. There are a few non-drug things you can do if it gets bad. You can get nasal strips, I think they are mainly for snorers, but they help you to breathe better in the night. You can also have a saline spray which sort of washes your sinuses out, which was invaluable to me because I got hayfever at the same time. I looked awful, and was going round baby groups looking like I was streaming with a cold, but I kept having to say, no, its hayfever, don't worry... blurgh. It is almost hayfever time again, so if you get bad and don't want to confess it's pregnancy related, that would be a great cover story.

Waves at Tas! Glad you are feeling a bit more like yourself.

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 20:40

I've just filled out all my notes and I'm metalling baaaad. Thinking im not pregnant and its all in my head... and I'll get to my scan and find nothing.

Congratulations cake completely understand how you feel xxx

tasmaniandevilchaser · 23/04/2012 20:28

hi all, I can't have posted for ages, the thread has dropped off my list. Hope you're all ok, haven't looked through much to see all your news.

We are starting to TTC again, though god knows what will happen. I am resigned that DD will be an only child (cheaper, calmer life) and if we end up with another one, then that will be a bonus.

I've been through many ups and downs in the last couple of months, but finally feeling something resembling normal after a nice holiday (for those who don't know MMC found at 12 wk scan Nov '11, then ectopic Feb)

have just seen cake's good news, congrats! Understand that you have mixed feelings but take a deep breath and ride that wave!

Cakeplease · 23/04/2012 19:55

Apologises to all. This stupid iPhone didn't refresh everyone's news & posts from today. I hoped i wasn't inconsiderate or rude! Will catch up with all today's posts now & post again!

Sorry!

sunshinesue · 23/04/2012 19:51

yikes cake. I understand what a headfuck it would be getting your BFP so soon after mc. Deep breath and sit yourself down. Congratulations!

sunshinesue · 23/04/2012 19:47

midge, thanks for your story. so sorry about your losses, I can't imagine how hard that must be.

Cakeplease · 23/04/2012 19:46

kirrin what great news & what a relief for you :)

Sooooooo it's 4 weeks today since mc and I just took a test ..... BFP (fancied wine, we'd been trying, something told me to test?!)

Def a new pg as had a bfn 2.5 weeks ago. All the excitement bn sucked out of a positive test, just feel scared. :(

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/04/2012 19:25

Afternoon lovely ladies.

A warm welcome new members, very sorry you find yourselves here but as others have said we will be here to comfort whilst we all metal together.

I am exhausted today, I have done 7 treatments in 3 hours in the salon this morning, I am really feeling it now and I'm only 10+2 ffs! Hmm

I look and feel huge tummy wise today, really sticking out and rock solid. I know it's my 3rd and I have a smaller than average "surgery damaged" womb but still, I look a good 6 months today.

I don't know anything about Asprin but I am on daily injected Fragmin and I was from 5 weeks as I have a long history of blood clots in pregnancy.

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 19:15

Thank you midge, that is really reasuring to hear! Sorry you had such a rough time discovering it though!

Right I'm off to find baby asprin!

Midgetm · 23/04/2012 19:11

I have been pregnant 9 bloody times. Pregnancy 5 I self medicated for 3 months with 75mg aspirin for the first 3 months. Ended up with a baby at the end of it but with hindsight should have carried on as DD was LBW because of clots in my placenta. Now I am prescribed 150 mg up until 34 weeks. This is because I have a clotting issues as diagnosed at St Mary's. I swear by the stuff and have faith in this pregnancy because of something as simple as aspirin. Rubbish post as in the car x

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 18:26

Ok so aslong as its 75mg its ok, anythings worth a try hey!

I'd drink petrol if they told me it would work!

Anyone else had the stuffy nose/cold feeling without any snot?

WhyAlwaysBoris · 23/04/2012 18:15

Don't know about brands, don't think it matters which. I think every chemist would sell them and would be the same contents, only question is over the dose.

My consultant told me to take 75mg a day from getting a bfp & this seems to be the ususal 'take it in case it helps dose' but i know st mary's recurrent mc unit prescribe 150mg but don't know if this is for everyone or only those where they have identified a clotting problem for definite......
(Also some people seem to be on soluble aspirin, others on normal aspirin, others on coated aspirin so it doesn't hurt their stomach, but i don't think this alters the aspirin, iyswim, my consultant didn't specify which were needed)

kirrinIsland · 23/04/2012 18:13

oneday sorry you've had to join us, but welcome:)
Congratulations. I don't really know what a cp is either - I think it's a very early mc but perhaps someone more knowledgable than me will correct me in a mo. Apart from the general advice of limiting caffeine and not lifting or overdoing things I don't think there is really anything else you can do. I'd like to tell you the metalling gets less but I'm 11+2 and it's not got any better for me yet. I heard mc described as taking away the innocence which I think is bang on - you lose the excitement and are just left with the worry.
But, that is what we are all here for - support and a listening ear.

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 17:52

Can anyone recomend a brand? Or shop to get them from?

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 17:50

Well after reading that I'm definatly going to get some, ds had iugr and dd was suspected so double reason!

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 17:47
