just twigged your username whyalwaysboris we named our cat after you Grin

I really want a bath .... And yes hormonalness is making me cry because I can't have one. Blush we only have a shower and no relatives have one either but it's all I want to sink into some warm bubbles and relax for an hour.
I am grumpy and stressed, shower won't cut it!

sunshinesue · 07/04/2012 18:29

I don't have any faith in my own intuition either. I knew 100% my first pregnancy wsn't too be, even told my husband not to get too excited when we found out I was pregnant because I was sure it would end in mc. Second pregnancy I thought 100% it woud be fine but it wasn't. At least this time I know not to take any notice of myself metalling as I've been wrong before and my intuition's clearly wonky Grin.

GPB - it is never too early to have brain too full syndrome.

GrandPoohBah · 07/04/2012 17:42

Ooh, and mumtum, congratulations - I hope you're having an amazing time :)

boris, I know what you mean. It felt really important for me to catch in the wtf cycle because I knew April would be hard - my 20 wk scan of the last pregnancy was booked in for the 16th and the due date of the last-but-one was the 26th. I was lucky, I hope you are too.

Sorry for having to do two posts in a row - literally unless I make notes, I forget peoples' names and what I want to say to them Blush I'm only 26, I can't have brain too full syndrome yet!

GrandPoohBah · 07/04/2012 17:38

Hi all,

Thank you everyone who nagged me to be seen - the antibiotics have kicked in and I'm now feeling a bit less like the walking dead but I'm so tired. I don't know if it's the pregnancy or the ill, but I've mainly spent the past two days napping. I've also started to get my appetite back which is sort of good except then I get the food aversion and general nausea which is pregnancy related. I can't win!

That's great news about the heartbeat, Kirrin :)

Jaffa, I know what you mean about your intuition. Weirdly, I totally thought I was doing fine last time except about 48 hours before our 12 wk scan I started to get a bad feeling about it. I just couldn't see us having a good outcome, and I turned out to be right.

I've had a bit more spotting over the last couple of days, but it seems to be sex related - so that's a lot less worrying (haha, who am I trying to kid?!)

I hope you're all doing ok, not too much mentalling going on.

WhyAlwaysBoris · 07/04/2012 17:37

PS meant to put one of these into my message and i forgot:
[busmile]
there
happy easter everyone x

WhyAlwaysBoris · 07/04/2012 17:30

Hello everyone,

Mumtum congratulations on your wedding. FX for a honeymoon baby for you

Kirrin baby heartbeat

Jaffa, so glad the pain has gone. I know what you mean about MMC though, it completely undermines my belief in my own intuition. I' sure EPU would have had you in if they were worried. .

Hello and welcome to Sunshine and Cakeplease

GPB hope the AB's have now kicked in and you are feeling better.

I commenced the dreaded tww today, & suddenly realised that if i don't get a bfp this month then i've had it for a 2012 baby. In reality it is only another month either way but somehow doesn't feel like it. I started taking folic acid january 1st 2011 and suddenly 2013 rushing up and still no baby.

JaffaSnaffle · 07/04/2012 17:04

Some good news here. So most of the pain has gone, think it is digestive. I spoke to EPU this morning, they were very nice, but said they were not very worried for me.

I have turned the dial on the metal meter down a few notches.

I think it is partly just because I know I am in the prime zone for mc, and because of the mmc history, feel my body could be up to tricks on the sly. I have lost my faith in my ability to carry a baby.

thank you for being voices of reason!

Tiago · 07/04/2012 16:54

Excellent news Kirrin. Hope everyone else is well.

I have low level nausea which abates when I eat. The result of this is that DH is currently preparing our tea 2 hours early because I have to eat NOW. He thinks I am quite bonkers.

I am still half convinced that the scan on Tuesday will show a MMC, but then DH points out that my symptoms have progressed since the last scan (from just a bit of nausea to sleeping all the time) so hopefully that shows some development. I hope so - if this goes wrong again I really am not sure I have it in me to try again.

sunshinesue · 07/04/2012 16:07

HOORAY for heartbeat Kirrin!

For Jaffa and anyone else metalling I had my mc over new year not the best way to see in 2012 but I found it a lot easier to get seen over the bank holiday than I expected. If I remember rightly I called the midwife on the out of hours who told me to call dr's out of hours who made an appointment at a clinic who examined me then called the epu to get me seen as an emergency the next morning. I had a tiny amount of bleeding and very little pain and was really just hoping to get myself first in line when everything opened up again. It didn't turn out well for me but I couldn't fault the nhs for their speed.

I know how easy it is to convince yourself anything abdominal is gynae related but often the shits is just the shits. I got myself in a right state a month or so ago convinced I'd had another ovarian cyst about to burst but turned out I just had a bug (which I then managed to pass on to my entire family.....)

kirrinIsland · 07/04/2012 10:45

Morning all :)

I hope everyone is well today. Jaffa how are you doing?

I've just returned from my scan - saw a lovely heartbeat - very relieved :)

Midgetm · 07/04/2012 09:27

Mm nice biscuits. I am sure that was what mine was. Had a pooh only to be rudely interrupted by a John Lewis delivery man, does he not realise how precious pooh time is. Had to stop DD from telling him that's what I was doing. Oh the Shame. Thanks for your words of wisdom BC. I am sure that's what mine are. Logic told me the same yesterday but the voice in my head wouldn't let it lie... Bastard voice. X

BlueCrane · 07/04/2012 08:46

jaffa and midget so sorry about your digestive crampy metalling...I have really suffered on and off throughout this pregnancy with bad constipation, bad diarrhea and excruciating cramps from trapped wind...sometimes all in the space of 48hours! Just one of those unfortunate side effects of a little bean making space inside you. I have found that taking lactulose when the cramps for wind are kicking in or the constipation is bad helps to get things moving again but at the 'loser' end of the scale it's just been a case of letting it sort itself out so am not sure about any medication that could help with that but just make sure you keep your fluids up. I've also tried to have allbran or bran flakes, tinned prunes or pears and dried fruit for breakfast to help with regularity. Fybogel is also supposed to be good but I can't stand the taste of it so haven't tried that!

Sorry for the long bowel related message but hope that helps a bit and that you're feeling better this morning! I had the lactulose prescribed to me from my doctor when I went in with the trapped wind pain.

We have my DB, SIL and DN to visit today so I need to get on with tidying up but had a terrible night's sleep so am feeling a bit zombie like! Couldn't get comfortable at all due to pelvic pain and then beany decided it would be fun to do some more kick-boxing practice so in the end I've given up and got up!

Midgetm · 07/04/2012 08:00

Oh Jaffa. Sorry you've been metalling. I didn't post yesterday as I was metalling about my own cramps and didn't want to add to the panic. Even though I am pretty sure mine are digestive, I still metalled a bit so you have good company. Mine have gone this morning, hope yours have too. I am guessing your quickest way of being seen would be a&e who can then refer to emergency EPU but would be a right palaver. Hope they have gone. The white discharge probably not too concerning, think more like the plug when it is something to be worried about and that is fairly chunky and lumpy (I think). God I hate metalling. Wish I could wave a magic wand to make our worries disappear for 9 months.

JaffaSnaffle · 06/04/2012 23:32

My bowel has been doing that slow, slow, quick quick slow thing for weeks so maybe this is another round if that.

I will ring the epu tomorrow. And I am going to have another scan. To go betweeN 7 + 5 and 12+6 is too much for my sanity.

At least the discharge has gone. And my boobs are so sore tonight.

Thank you for talking me down a bit. I hope it is all random pregnancy symptoms.

kirrinIsland · 06/04/2012 20:53

Jaffa try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know). As leedy says, pregnancy plays havoc on your digestive system, and it's much more likely to be that than anything else.
The EPUs at both hospitals near me are monday- Friday only, but you could phone the labour ward and see what they say - they should be able to give you some advice and you don't even have to wait til tomorrow to ring them.
Also second the suggestion of a private scan - if it puts your mind at rest then it'll be the best £75 you could have spent.

leedy · 06/04/2012 20:24

Oh argh jaffa, I agree with Manda that it's probably nothing serious but I can understand the metalling.

My digestion has been absolutely banjaxed lately - I was very crampy on Wednesday to the extent that I too got worried, and have been, well, not right in the loo department since, but I do remember my guts were affected in my first, full-term pregnancy as well, and I do think preggy hormones do a number on your digestive system. With my mmc I had ... nothing until the horrendous cramps and the bleed at 12 weeks (when pg stopped developing at 8 weeks), and any discharge I had before it was clear, so I don't see any obvious reason why digestive yuck/abdominal discomfort/white discharge without blood would be a sign of something going wrong. Though I know the places one's head goes to, of course. Agree that if you can get to the EPU tomorrow that'd be great, or a private scan if not if you think it'll de-metal you.

(as a small aside, what treatments for thrush are ok in pregnancy? as I too seem to have a bit of white discharge, and am in possession of Canesten HC cream that was, er, prescribed for DS' nappy rash)

MandaHugNKiss · 06/04/2012 19:35

No, tomorrow isn't a bank holiday but, of course, it is a weekend and not epu's are open at the weekend either, eh? See if yours has a website (or a page at the hospital where it is based) to give you an idea.

Ime, when I've gotten a UTI or thrush when pregnant it has presented atypically - so the 'usual' symptoms didn't really fit but I had them none the less!

Ultimately, you're worried and understandably so, but try and be objective if you can, even for a few minutes. If I said I had those kind of symptoms would you instantly think the worst for me? If not, then try and cling to that - a true metaller is irrational with the best of 'em!

Really hope you can get to the epu tomorrow but if not is a private scan a possibility?

JaffaSnaffle · 06/04/2012 19:30

It is just odd, sort like trapped wind sometimes, sometimes a sort of tugging feeling. But I also have a bit of backache. None of these, apart from thd trapped wind feeling are painful, I am just aware, if you see what I mean. The discharge doesn't smell or itch, so I am not sure if it is thrush. I am going to try and ring epu tomorrow and hope it is not shut- tomorrow is not a bank hol right?

MandaHugNKiss · 06/04/2012 18:53

Oh jaffa hang in there! When you say 'discomfort' can you be a bit more specific? If you've got The Trots it could likely be that... thick white discharge sounds thrush-like - another common pregnancy ailment.

Any chance at all you could get yourself somewhere for a private scan as clearly waiting until May is not going to cut it and even waiting until you can speak to epu on tuesday(?) is, in our circles, somewhat of a lifetime and no doubt you'll struggle to enjoy the bank holiday/easter on any level which just sucks major hairy arse.

JaffaSnaffle · 06/04/2012 18:45

Hi, having a full on metal attack. I have a lot of discomfort in my abdomen and lots of thick white discharge. I have had diahorrea for a few days. There is no bleeding. But I am so scared this is it. Again. It just doesnt feel right. I am so freaked out by my mmc experience. My baby had been dead for weeks and I didnt know. No bleeding then. Tried ringing Epu but they are shut for bank holiday. I don't have another scan booked until sodding May. I can't do this again.

leedy · 06/04/2012 18:29

Tits, if you're not succumbing to your craving for baked camembert for pregreasons (as opposed to just, y'know, not having any) - fear not! All cooked cheese is completely free of food poisoning danger! (actually so is uncooked cheese if it's properly handled/stored, but cooked cheese really is totally safe - the heat kills all germs)

Argh on the nightmare child! Mercifully my DS is being quite charming today, which is good as I am still wrecked.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 06/04/2012 17:52

Ugh, I feel awful, shakes, palpitations and my saliva gland gone into overdrive. Sad
Worst thing is I am craving a gooey baked Camembert like crazy! Typical eh?!Confused
Meant to be out for dinner, cannot cancel been promising these friends our company for ages. Hope I can come home earlyish and sleep.

DS2 been a real nightmare since the return from their dad's place as usual, he just had a full blown tantrum in the shower and smashed his face on the rail so now has a large bruise emerging across his cheekbone.

leedy · 06/04/2012 12:04

Happy Easter weekend to everyone! Still laughing at some of the small child public statements (re which, DS pointed at my, er, fanjo area this morning and loudly announced "WHERE YOUR PENIS? WHY YOU NOT HAVE A PENIS?").

Also OH GOD THE TIRED. I was up quite late for a pregno last night and even though I got a bit of a lie in (ta, Mr L) I am still ABOUT TO FALL OVER. Feel like I was up until 5am drinking pints. Also I have no idea what my digestive system is up to. Though relieved that the worrying cramps the other day were, as it transpired, constipation. Fybogel is my new best friend.

Sorry not to namecheck everyone, but welcome new people and glad GPB got her ear sorted.

And now I am going back to bed for half an hour while Mr L takes DS swimming.
