TTC 10 plus months, part 6

Just a quickie from me but wanted to say izzy I'm so so pleased and relieved for you! God what a nightmare you have been through. Hopefully it'll be plain sailing from now on. And at the tiny bean's tiny heartbeat.

Super quick post as have just finished work and need my bed! However, just needed to say yay to izzy! Great news! So glad that the sonographer was wrong. Fingers crossed that it's plain sailing from now- you've had your fair share of worry!

Evening ladies - I am miles behind and so much I want to say, but it's far too late for that. So mainly just want to say YYYAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY for izzy . This really is turning into a bit of a miracle baby for you.

And also to apologise for what I started re the Aveda idea! Haven't stocked up yet but going to order some tomorrow, apologies for planting the idea in people's heads!

Anyway will try to catch up tomorrow, including to say a proper hello to the newbies. If I remember, and am brave enough, I'll also share a very bleurgh TMI story but it really is gross, so perhaps not....

Welcome Princess. Sorry you find yourself here. Sounds like you have been through a lot. I hope you start to get some answers soon.

Been lurking recently. Infection hasn't healed and is still causing me quite a bit of pain. Nothing seems to be happening on the fertility side. No +OPK and No spike in temp despite it being 17 days since op. Either the bleeding after the op wasn't a period or my cycle is going to be a lot longer than the anticipated 28 days. I am quite fed up and have been trying unsuccessfully not to over think things, you know, did it work? did it not?
DTD every other day just in case but I'm not really hopeful.

Eventually returned to the GPs and saw the Dr about the infection. But we decided not to go with antibiotics as he wasn't sure if it would be safe. Apparently the safest is from the penicillin family but I'm allergic. I have to go back Friday for a check-up and if it is any worse I might end up on antibiotics anyway.

Thanks ladyg. Yes I too had proudly said "8 to 10" units - got a bit of a shocked look from the doctor .

joycep - x-posts too! When in need of extra cash and if you can be bothered I always find selling things on ebay quite fruitful. DH's games seem to sell particularly well...

mini - I missed your last post, good news that the appt went ok and you have a hycosy as a next step.

I don't know for sure but think the Hycosy should have the same effect as a HSG. I think it's just a different dye they use which means you don't need to be x-rayed but can just be scanned.

We were initially told to cut down to less than 6 units a week, and then 0 in prep for IVF. This is after I'd proudly said I drink less than 10 units and was promptly told that that was still rather a lot for ttc .

I don't recall doing a urine test so I'm not sure what that would be for, sorry.

izzy - that is great news. What a worrying time you?ve had. It?s amazing how early a heartbeat starts!

pout - it would seem that i am a secret internet troll who loves to plant malicious and unsubstantiated rumours about various fruits on fertility forums. I do apologise to the innocent mango, I think I may have been getting in a muddle with the papaya! About that leaflet, I can imagine they do get pretty unclean people coming in to hospital.

Yes my ML is a nightmare. I do actually get on with her fine when she is being normal but she is slightly unstable. I think i may have mentioned her misdemeanours on here before but her latest ask takes the biscuit. It?s not going to happen and DH has told her that. Our priority is to start a family and it?s very sad she is on her own but she can?t expect us to live with her when we are all still relatively young. The trouble is everything is always about her and how she is lonely and is on her own...not about us going down the ivf route. I don?t want to be too rude as i?m hoping she will contribute a little something to the cause.

Minnie - good luck with your appointment. Whenever I see those ivf posters i convince myself it is a sign. I wonder how many other people sit on the tubes and look at those posters in despair.

stasi - eek sorry about your hand. What a pain, i really hope it mends soon.

lemon - how are you feeling about iui? You are unmedicated this cycle aren?t you? I can?t remember whether you are going private for it ? Yes it wasn?t the highlight of my year! The bills were the worst part because they would neatly arrive on the doormat every time AF arrived. It was uncanny. Anyway, I am hoping we have the first successful IUI on this thread...there has to be at least one. Also may be it was just me but i found it much more relaxing than swi!

princess - i have been toying with the idea of seeing a nutrionist ? ones where they take blood and see what you are deficient in. Is this what you are having done? It will be interesting to hear what you are told.

kitty - i have told everyone within a 10mile radius as well ? except people at work. I kind of regret being so open now too.

I?m currently trying to figure out how i can earn more money on the side of my job so i can build a bigger pot for ivf ....so far my creative ideas have stretched from shaking a begging pot outside a big Sainsburys supermarket to prostitution. Any other ideas welcome.

Feel like I?ve missed loads, I?ve only been away a couple of days but have been reading ? and giggling at various things, mainly kitty being too spaced out to pay for acupuncture and wine?s silky danglings!

Joycep ? holding a baby for a whole day? well I guess I know what I?ll be doing on Saturday now! at your MiL, is she being serious? The very thought makes me shudder

Wine ? I think we will just wait until the NHS round comes. I?m in no rush to go through the past few weeks again, I?m starting to feel like myself physically but emotionally I still feel exhausted.

I called the clinic today and politely asked when to expect a follow-up appt. The nurse was appalled that we hadn?t had one already, looks as though we?d been forgotten about as our notes were back in the filing cabinet. She was very apologetic and booked an appt there and then for the week after next. So, I?m hoping we?ll have more of a plan after that.

Frannie ? so sorry about the pregnancy announcements with your close friends, that's a hard one to take.

Lemons ? I know what you mean about nephews and nieces. Hugs and time with my only nephew are my favourite pastime, I love him to pieces. Now he?s got a little sister and I?ve got a gorgeous little niece so we can both spoil her rotten!

Glad to hear your collar bone is healing well and your DH is bucking the trend of general uselessness! Though I do have to take back - or at least qualify - what I wrote about my DH the other day. When I got home yesterday he had done all the gardening ? he hates gardening and has never, in the 10 years we?ve been together, done it without me nagging for days on end and then I usually give it and do it myself. I was genuinely touched if not suspicious that he has read my previous post on here!

Mrsd ? well done on surviving the baby visit and hoorah to your friend not prying on the ttc front. I think it?s only when you spend time with parents of babies/toddlers that you realize that the gloss people talk about isn?t all it?s cracked up to be, it?s bloody hard work most of the time.

Princess ? hello and welcome here. I?m sorry to hear about your ttc journey so far, so much of what you wrote struck a chord. Let?s hope the start of pokings and proddings brings some answers for you. Sorry I'm no expert on either mid-cycle bleeding or CBFM

Stasi ? nice to hear from you though I?m sorry you?re still having trouble with your hand. Fingers crossed the physio will do the trick

Kitty ? if I could turn the clock back, there are definitely people I would not tell about ttc. As you say, all a bit late now! And you really can?t know whether you?ve made the right decision until it?s out there. As an example, my Grandma ? who knows because I burst into tears at her house one day ? has been amazing. She thinks IVF is literally the best thing since sliced bread and keeps striking up conversations about how marvelous Robert Winston is (she thinks he invented it and I haven?t the heart to tell her otherwise!)

On the aunt front, she?s only in her early 50s. It's never really been discussed but more assumed that it?s a personal choice of hers not to have children. She met her partner when she was in her early 20s but he was 20+ years older than her and already had children from a previous relationship. TBH she?s renowned for saying insensitive things so I kind of half expected something along these lines, just makes me regret being open and honest in the first place but I was sick of all other insensitive comments about starting a family.

How did I miss a whole conversation about Aussie shampoos and Aveda! I used to use Aussie shampoo but realised it brought my eczema out terribly on my face and neck ? which made me think there must be something nasty in it. I then went through years of trying other shampoos until discovering the bliss that is Aveda. It?s my vice ? I love the stuff, justified by the fact that it?s the only shampoo that doesn?t make my skin dry, red and constantly blotchy.

Anyhoo, enough rambling from me. Waves to pout, mini and anyone else I?ve missed.

hooray, hooray!! izzy that is amazingly fantastic news . boo hiss to the first sonographer. but wonderful to hear you have a 2.9mm baby inside you! And how amazing is it that it has a heart beat even at that tiny little size...

princess no ideas about your mid cycle period. (But I'd say if CBFM says you're fertile, ignore the bleeding). I have some odd mid cycle bleeding too - my period finishes, I have three or four clear days, then I get a couple of days' bleeding again. Is yours like that?

Well, I have just come back from our first gynae appt. No examinations other than urine sample (what's that for? ) and height/weight and blood pressure. I've been referred for a Hycosy (Hystero contrast salpingogram) next cycle. I gather this is different from a lap and dye and different from an HSG. Does anyone know if it has the same "tube clearing" (i.e. fertility boosting) effect as those are reputed to have?

Oh and she also told me to cut down to 2 units of alcohol a week . And DH to cut down to 5 (he was delighted as you can imagine ). Anyone else been told this?

@lemon & pout - in the same predicament re down there, with the prodding commencing on Monday, I'm wondering if I should go less 70s pornstar and do some pruning this weekend. It is DH's birthday on Sunday after all... might just make a waxing appointment this arvo...

re: mangoes and peas, I've read that peas are only harmful in massive quantities e.g. eating them every single day. Once or twice a week is fine. The don't eat peas thing is down to a study done in Tibet where they eat so many peas that they discovered they act like a natural birth control. They then used the chemical in peas to make a natural birth control capsule in India, which was pretty effective. No ideas about mangoes. It's not in my "Getting Pregnant: Fertility Diet Guide" as a fertility robber. I'm off to see a nutritionist next month who specializes in ripping wannabe mum's off eating for successful conception so I'll flag this with her then.

Joycep - you're ML sounds like a nightmare. My ML is lovely, very lovely, but would I want to live with her? No way!! Especially with the TTC ups and downs. Perhaps you could just have extremely loud TTC sessions with the other half and discourage her? Just a thought

They didnt say much about it. Just it was old blood coa it has knitted together. That is probably what the sonographer last week wrongly identified as retained products!

Hello everyone. Just back from hospital. There is a 3cm clot in my womb and a 2.9mm baby with a heartbeat!!!!

Still in shock!

X-post with pout - I was slow! But I don't bother keeping that down there tidy for gyn appointments any longer. So when I go for my first scan there will be plenty (it's winter after all), although now you've mentioned it, I might tidy stuff up a little... Agreed at the at both MILs moving in and that people would not shower before there op.

Btw joycep I followed your whole story on here, but until I get close to it, I did not realise quite how much of a bug thing IUI is, and you had to pay for it yourself. So belated sympathies again on that disasterous chapter, with the terrible private gyn. And on the complete journey so far. Oh and at your MIL. She sounds like a handful

As does pout's mum. Since the wedding stories I got an inkling she is not being (how do you say this nicely) that supportive, but really. She is upset you are not considering adopting. To quote my 5-yr old nephew: that is just RIDICULOUS.

This is probably too late for mini, but good luck with your appointment today and I agree with what has been said, in the first appointment some like to have a quick look with the dildocam, some like swabs, and nearly all want blood tests done.

Massive well done on the baby visit surviving, mrsd! And pleased it was not as rosy as they had painted!!

To tempt fate I got DH to bring a mango home last night and now I see it is actually good for everything... We enjoyed it anyway! And I defiantly eat peas.

I love the spaced out forgetting to pay kitty, I might try that trick too! I hope the new baby vibes do you some woo good, lady and if not that you bond well with the niece, because there are some small people I love absolutely and unreservedly and those are my nephews.

Hello to princess I'm sorry that you are having such a crappy time. Sorry about your mid cycle bleeding too but at least your GP is investigating I suppose. I guess it beats the usual line trotted out by some GPs that anything period related is "just normal". That said prodding and poking around in that area is never nice.

21 day bloods is for ovulation. I'll get the results for that at my infertility clinic outpatients appointment. I still have to have the day 3-5 but will have to wait for AF to show before I can book it. I can't guess with any degree of accuracy when that might be but my guess is it will be on a day when the phlebotomist isn't at my GP surgery and I will have to trek to the hospital - AGAIN!

I keep thinking that a Xmas baby might be kind of nice too. This is purely selfish I know because I'm sure it isn't much fun for a child to have their birthday and Xmas so close. I suppose though you could always have a Summer party for them.

joycep at you randomly adding things like mangoes to the TTC banned list!!!!! I might try this tactic at home and tell DH that being exposed to cleaning products is bad for TTC or that Dysons emit harmful vibrations.
As for your MIL coming to live with you - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Really???? What does your DH think? My mum would love that too because she is lonely. I would rather house share with that lass off the Exorcist. Do you get along with your MIL?
I hope that your AF is nice and late this month so that you can feel a bit more reassured about your LP - obviously it goes without saying that I hope your AF is a complete no show!

kitty Wow accupuncture must be great if it can make you that relaxed! My DH has pretended to be deaf everytime I have mentioned it!
at unprepared for internal exams. I had an ECG once and didn't realise that they attach electrode thingys to your legs and was mortified because I hadn't shaved them. I'm surprised that my heart gave out a normal reading because I was in such a state of worry about my Maths teacher legs.
As an aside I got my 'what to expect in your operation' leaflet through the post and it actually said "make sure that you have a bath or shower before coming to the hospital" Do people really not bathe in these circumstances?

I take the Tube to work and have now had 3 tube journeys in a row where I have been sat opposite an advert for IVF treatment! (with the usual cute baby picture ) ... Maybe someone is trying to tell me something ??
