Absolutely bonkers POAS behaviour... but am I?

I would really appreciate some advice here. I am cringing at how loopy this will sound and must apologise in advance!

I've been TTC for year. I have PCOS and am taking metformin for it at the moment but my cycles are all over the place (55+ days).

I cracked and did a test this morning. I'd promised DH that I wouldn't test this month as it upsets me... so I kind of smuggled it out of the bathroom and had a quick look before shoving it into the kitchen bin. It was negative. But I had a nagging feeling all day, so when I got home I tool it out and had another look... positive!

Do you think I'm preggers... or has it just malfunctioned after 12 hours in a bin? Maybe it is the bin that is expecting a happy event? I won't be able to get another test until tomorrow morning.

LOL at your pregnant bin Smile

Just to be a nuisance, what was the line like? Brand of test? etc etc

Good luck Izzy. I will cross my fingers for you. I for one won't be peeking at tests a second past the time specified on the box again. I really should know better.

Northey - thank you! I shall take care not to put any blue cheese or raw eggs into the bin for the next couple of days, just in case. One can't be too careful.

First things first - I love your name.

Second - maybe the bin is having a sympathetic pregnancy with you. I must add that to my list of potential symptoms to watch for - is my bin showing signs of sympathetic pregnancy.

Third - i do hope you are.

Thank you Plaguegroup. I had heard of evaporation lines but didn't grasp quite what they are. I am sure that you are right and you have saved me an evening of more silliness.

I feel very silly and have learnt my lesson.

I feel your pain cystersledge as i have pcos too and have been ttc for well over a year now.

I tested yesterday and at the allotted 5 mins nothing but after almost 30 there was a faint line.

I vote you do another test tomorrow and see what happens. Good luck!!

I'm guessing you know that they are not reliable after that long?
However, maybe you did bin it too soon
Only way to know is to do it again in the morning !
And then come and tell us !
Good luck !

I'm afraid after 12 hours it could be an evaporation line. Tests really shouldn't be read after the 10 mins (or whatever time it says on the packaging). Sorry. Sad
