A positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

and Jemima so sorry it didn't work for you this time, i was so excited for you!

CareBear1 · 12/04/2012 18:36

Jemima I've heard some people talk about CARE fertility ? www.carefertility.com/ No experience of them myself

Can I ask you knowledgable people a question, I've just got back my immune level 1 tests and the Neutrophil count one was slightly low (1.7, was told normal range was 2-5). So i guess this is not that far out, but no idea what if anything this means. Any one know much about neutrophil levels and what a low level would indicate in terms of reproduction?

thanks. x

igggi · 12/04/2012 17:34

Ah PQ, but just to really confuse you I moved here from Northern Ireland (so more Eamon Holmes than Carol!) Wink

PQ77 · 12/04/2012 16:36

igggi I am now reading all your posts in a Scottish accent. I imagine you are like Carol the weather lady on the BBC breakfast show. Can you tell I am from NZ and don't get out of London much?

igggi · 12/04/2012 16:33

Mercator, no thankfully, there would be a limit to what I could do!
PQ that's such a relief, and there you are mentalling about the next scan straight away! No way not to I suppose, but it does all sound good.
I've been to see a physio today about pelvic girdle pain. I said I didn't have it in first pg (with ds) and she said all the mcs could have contributed as hormones (relaxin?) are released in the first trimester. Not too bad though.
Waves to everyone else :)

snoopygirl · 12/04/2012 16:31

iggi glad all went well.

pQ that's funny think I would have done the same with scan tool. He's a strange man isn't he. Unless he has some sixth sense we don't know about! You'd think in his specialist area he would be cautious too.. weird

sue! hey nice to hear from you. Hope you exotic trip went well, you didn't get mysteriously lost then Grin.....er it was Bermuda wasn't it?
Aah cocktails.......... I am really trying hard to get some weight off in 2 weeks before ov too but nothing is going anywhere. It would if I could exercise but cant' as I feel too rubbish with awful cold.
Holiday was nice and about 10 degrees warmer than Uk so going south a bit helped. Albeit coming back diseased!

Was I anxious? Cant remember what that was about? Feel ok, no SO for me though this month as my Letrozole pescription has gone missing and it's too late in cycle now to take it. As it's not an accumulative effect it doesn't make any difference to ttc normally anyway. Sleep was a bit better this month although AF only proper for 2 days.

Is there anyone coming up for testing soon?, your right it's all looking a bit sad on our ttc list.

pico have a good trip!

mercator · 12/04/2012 16:00

pQ so glad things are ok! Be thinking of you on Monday, I think you get your results pretty quickly from what I've read at the FMC.

Iggi hadn't realised you'd travelled from Scotland! Did you have to have intralipds as well?

PQ77 · 12/04/2012 15:08

great news igggi - I agree with what you said yesterday, you never relax with scans do you.

Thanks for asking - I had mine with Mr S yesterday and he was all jolly and excited before he'd even scanned me because I'd got to 11+4. I was ready to rip the thing out of his hands and scan myself! No celebrating until you see the hearbeat and it's the right size!

Was all fine but I had managed to empty my bladder and the bottle of water I necked in the waiting room didn't work - takes 45mins from drinking to bladder in case anyone was wondering. So all I saw was a little blob which is allegedly the right size.

NT scan and the FMC on Monday. V worried. Mr S reckons I've had my share of bad luck already on the chromosome front but I know you ladies will understand my concern!

Hope everyone else is OK. Hi to Jemima. Better get back to work, sorry I haven't caught up with everyone else.

igggi · 12/04/2012 14:18

growth scan today was fine, not sure what it is I expect to go wrong, but I still do! LO is still breech but as am having ecs anyway not much of a worry, I think.
Fwiw Jemima I made four visits in total to London from Scotland (day trips!), 2 for tests/results and two for scans once I became pg. Not bad really.
Has PQ been back to say about her scan?

suemays · 12/04/2012 13:47

Duggs I am soooooo pleased for you!!!!! You must be over the moon. Just goes to show you that your instincts were right all along and that your eggs were part of the problem. It's nice to finally see you on the 1st Trimester list so I am keeping my fingers crossed this is your lucky BFP!

Welcome to all the newcomers - not sure how many there are now as I have been actively not looking at the thread whilst waiting for my 2 month TTC ban. It's going very slowly but I will be starting again in a few weeks. Was hoping to have lost some of the pred weight but I have been enjoying too many glasses of wine on my hols instead!

Well done Digi on your little one - it's great to see the success stories on here! Now we need some more BFPs as there are far too many of us on the TTC list now. I just hope that next time I will stay on the BFP list rather than end up in another chemical.

Snoopy how was your holiday? I hope you are feeling less anxious etc now?

How do the out of towners fancy another meet up? I was thinking mid-may time?

LAF77 · 12/04/2012 13:27

Hi abney St Mary's runs your blood through some sort of centrifuge ( thromboelastogram or TEG) to mimic conditions in your blood vessels and they see how the blood is clotting. Everything was clear in a non pregnant state for me, but something changed in my body when I became pregnant. MA stands for maximum amplitude which is the size/strength of the blood clot. There are a whole variety of things that it could show up, things that haven't been completely researched, disorders that don't have names yet. The results didn't suggest that the clotting was severe enough to make fragmin necessary in pg.

NKC was going to be my next port of call if I had a 4th MC, but fortunately, my beloved baby made it.

mercator · 12/04/2012 12:14

Hi Jemima So sorry to hear you'e going through a mc, its terribly painful and you probably now want some answers. I think Quenby is in Coventry hospital. She seems to do a slightly different sort of test and only uses Steroids from BFP with no intralipids which many of us have been on.

I know its an absolute pain to have to travel but I can whole heartedly recommend Mr Shehata and dependent on whether you are pvt you could get your test results for NK cells and an answer to your issues within 6 weeks from now. I know that I was desperate for a result after my last mc.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Euro thanks for your response re: fertility treatment.
Pico have a relaxing trip to Oz! Hopefully a trip home will do you the world of good.

Choccy hope all is ok - thinking of you.

snoopygirl · 12/04/2012 12:10

jemima Dr Quenby is based in Warwick Uni/Coventry. Well she was last time I looked. She used to be at liverpool.
sorry your going through another Mc, hope it works itself out qucikly for you and you can move on.

Stogan · 12/04/2012 11:26

Hi jemima I'm even further north than u but still went for doctor Shehata in London as all other doctors / studies had waiting lists Grin

Jemimapuddleduk · 12/04/2012 10:40

Thanks igggi and kittens, I will look into Dr Quenby.
There are some lovely positive stories on here.

Havingkittens · 12/04/2012 10:32

duggs, how exciting! Everything crossed for you!

picolina, I asked about intralipids when I was at St Helier this week. They don't give them on the NHS. I think scooter said she got hers from Healthcare at Home, so she had her pred and scans etc on NHS but intralipids self funded. A nurse came to her house and gave them to her and stayed whilst the infusion was happening.

Hi jemima, welcome to the thread. Sorry you are going through another miscarriage right now. It's shitty Sad. I'm afraid I can't shed much light on consultants in the North as I'm London based. I think Dr Quenby is at the Liverpool Women's Hospital though. I may be wrong.

igggi · 12/04/2012 09:11

Hi Jemima, sorry to hear about your losses. The only two I know of offering these tests are Siobhan Quenby and Hassan Shehata. I believe Quenby is in the middle or north of England - not sure if you could get a GP referral to her? I think she didn't use to take private patients but that may have changed. Shehata is in London, you can definitely see him privately for testing. Unfortunately travelling for this help is something many of us have to do!

Abney · 12/04/2012 07:29

Picolina I had the same issue re the NHS and intralipids. Dr S colleague suggested it before my last MC but when I got pg Dr S said it was not recommended. As it was via a phone call I didn't get any further info. I also said I was happy to pay. When I went private I asked again about the intralipids and he agreed that we should throw everything at it. So next time I have a BFP then I will be having it. If there was even a slight chance of approving our chances then I would have thought it was better to have it. I guess there are no stats on the success and that's the main problem. Perhaps others on this thread can help.

Jemimapuddleduk · 12/04/2012 07:26

Hello everyone.
I am looking for some help from you. I am just having my third miscarriage in 14 months. I had all the nhs recurrent miscarriage tests last time round (exactly a year a go, my body has obv decided that Easter is a good time to start miscarrying). I am now thinking about being tested for nk cell levels. My question is, are any of you on the north west? (I live in the greater Manchester area). Could you recommend where to go and which consultant.
Thanks so much for your help

picolina123 · 12/04/2012 06:51

duggs im so happy for you, i was picturing the look on your face when you saw the bfp line, you must have been glowing !
coconut ,snoopy, arian i went to st heliers, i think she was talking about their results re when to start pred, she did say she knew a few who had and everythign was fine , i forgot to add i also asked if intralipids are goignto be added and i didnt mind paying etc , but was told mr s is no longer using it as for the money it wasnt worth the benefits, i noticed some people were still doing it on here so not sure whats going on, im on vhnkc so i thought this time they would suggest this.
2 sleeps for oz

igggi · 11/04/2012 22:31

PQ - was your scan this afternoon? Hope all was well.
I've a growth scan tomorrow. Doesn't matter how far on I am, still bricking it at the thought of a scan.

FrozenNorthPole · 11/04/2012 21:04

Just shame-facedly popping in to apologise for absenteeism
Duggs - sending congrats and sticky wishes
Digi - great news, and fabulous that bf is getting established well xx

batteryhen · 11/04/2012 19:33

duggs A BFP !!!!!! It's about time!! So pleased for you :)
digi glad you and your boy are home and getting on so well :)
choccy How are you? Anymore update?

I am loving the news on this thread today.Maybe this is the start of a run of good luck ??

I don't know who was asking about strawberry birthmarks? I have one on my ear, and my neice has a big raised one on her tummy. Mine has completely faded, but my neices is still there, although as it stretches it does seem to becoming fainterxx

All ok here. Not a lot going on, I am properly now in maternity clothes, but have only put on 4kg sincemy booking in. Although Iwas overweight to start with due to the pred, and eating too much :)

Big waves to all xxx

snoopygirl · 11/04/2012 18:43
