gum I have no words of wisdom or experience to share. But wow indeed, something is going on. Yep, I guess a test with the number of weeks might give you more clues. I followed you on this thread a few weeks back and really felt for you. I do hope this is great news. X

hopefulgum · 07/06/2012 11:36

Hello ladies,
I'm having a bit of a weird thing happen, and I don't know whether to laugh or get worried.
As you know, I'm pretty sure I had a chemical pregnancy as I had what felt and looked like a normal period about 3 -4 days after I expected AF. It lasted about 3 days.In the run up to the bleed I had positive tests, but they kept getting lighter. Even when I was bleeding I did a test and it was positive.
I really thought it was all over. My breasts didn't feel tender and I didn't feel pregnant.
That was about two weeks ago.

Now for the weird thing. I felt like I might be ovulating a couple of days ago, so I did an opk.It was darkly positive, but then it was again yesterday and today.

While I was lying on the acupuncture table, trying to meditate, I couldn't shake the idea that I might actually still be pregnant. The last week or so I've had a yucky taste in my mouth (which I get in early pregnancy) and my breasts are tender again. So when I got home tonight from acupuncture, after another positive opk, I decided to do a preg test. It is a first response. My pee was pretty dilute. And I got a BFP straight away!

I just don't know what to think - is it left over from the early miscarriage? Could I have lost a twin, or just had a bleed?Could I have gotten pregnant again straight away (unlikely)? I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday, so I guess I'll ask for betas to be done to find out what's going on.If I'm still pregnant, then I'll be 7 weeks by then.Wow!

I'm tentatively excited. My acupuncture lady said my pulse was still strong - so that is a good thing. I guess I'll get some more tests (I've finally run out) and maybe even a clearblue which says how many weeks.
Can you think of any reasons this could be happening?

lolfactor · 07/06/2012 09:18

Ooooh - everyone's on holiday. Isn't it quiet! Hoping the weird weather isn't stopping people having fun.

The painters have arrived to paint the nursery!! Yay!!! This baby is soooo ready to come out (ok, I know I'm only 38 + 2 but he's now 8.8lbs according to scan predictions and I'm struggling to get up the stairs and in/out of the car). Midwife going to give me a sweep at 40 weeks but thinking dynamite/winch is more appropriate at this stage. He's a strong one, and he's going to fight back, I can tell Shock

Right, better get dressed. Have a friend coming round with twins - just to make me feel better about my situation Grin Love to all.

sparklysapphire · 07/06/2012 00:09

hippy, I hope you have lots of interesting things plans and exciting future ahead of you.xx

diege, here's hoping the mildy dodgy cells are just that, and all will be resolved without the need for surgery. Thank you for keeping everything crossed but I think it's probably in vain this month.

I hope everyone's enjoyed the long bank holiday, or half term break & are not getting too wet! It's very strange in my house as DH and DD are away at his mum's & it's the longest I've been away from DD (4 nights). It's weirdly quiet. I had major plans to get stuff done, but have been mainly going to bed early.

love to all. SSx

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 03/06/2012 22:42

hippy thank you for your kind words, and I wish you every good thing possible with your life as it unfolds in the future. Whatever that may be, I am sure that you will meet it with grace and courage.

Italiangreyhound · 03/06/2012 18:48

Hippy all best wishes for all your future hols.

Diege hope all will be well with your cervix.

Hugs to all.

lolfactor · 03/06/2012 13:45

Hippy life sounds sweet on the IOW. I'm glad you've made peace with the ttc demon and have found exciting new things you want to do. Will keep you posted re monsterbean. You have been such a support to me and others on this thread and we are in your debt. Thank you!!! Smile Thanks

hopefulgum · 03/06/2012 01:17

Hippy, I do understand how you feel. I had hoped you would get your little bundle of joy eventually, that we could be belly buddies, but it's been a long journey and I think you are amazingly strong to have made this decision.

I often picture you on the IOW, and know that you love it there.

I hope we'll see you around the snug, it wouldn't be the same without you.And I hope I'll get to use the helicopter before too long, thanks for that.

Come and see us from time to time.I will miss youThanksThanksThanksThanks

AngelGeorgie · 02/06/2012 22:44

randomimposter · 02/06/2012 20:50

Am in tears reading your post Hippy. You know how much I wanted our trip along the prom. I totally respect where you have reached, and will only say that all your boys are sooooo very lucky to have you in their lives. This is not au revoir for us, but only the closing of one chapter. Much love and Wine to you xxxx

hippychick66 · 02/06/2012 12:44

Miasmum - so sad to read your post - pleased of course that all is good with this pregnancy but desperately hard for you not to compare this year to 2 years ago. I think of you and Mia often.love and hugs to you, my love.

Italian - good luck with the spare room, all sounds exciting. I soooo hope it all works out for you and your family.

LOL - thinking of you and awaiting news.

Diege - so sorry you are having all this worry about cells. Sending positive vibes your way. X

Gum - sending love to you, look after yourself. ((()))

Jolls - love you loads, Mrs.

Lou - I'll bet my little Pheobe will love her holiday, squish her for me please. X

As for me - I think I'm ready to stop now. I can't do this anymore. I wanted a baby at 43, 44 and maybe 45 - I am now heading towards 46 and I HAVE to stop needing this - there are other things I need to concentrate on. :(

I will, of course, still hang around the snug and my helicopter is available for all scans and spa trips (I'll leave the keys on a hook).

You are a fab bunch of women and I am proud to have been a part of all your journeys. X :)

Sorry if I missed anyones name.

hopefulgum · 02/06/2012 03:23

Deige, sorry you have the worry about the funny cervical cells. I haven't been through quite as much as you in that department, but did have CIN3 years ago and every pap smear is a worry. I hope you won't have to have a hysterectomy, that would be tough. Even if you feel your family is complete,no one wants their fertility taken like that.

I hope you have lovely weather and a lovely holiday.

We've just had a raging storm here, it's very cold and wet. Charlie isn't a big fan of thunder and lightning, so I missed a bit of sleep last night.

I'm now working 4 days a week, which isn't ideal as Charlie loves our days off together but it means I have the best job in the school - mostly tutoring, one on one with indigenous kids ( that's where the funding came from). It's not very stressful and I knew if I didn't take it someone else would and I've worked hard to carve out that little niche for myself. The money,of course will be handy. Maybe it is a chance to get the credit cards paid off before I have the next baby.

See, can't seem to get rid of that raging desire, so,although taking the relaxed approach towards it, I'm still hopeful. Mystic Deige I do hope your dream was prophetic. Smile

I hope everyone else has a lovely weekend. It's a long weekend here and I hope to achieve a whole lot of domestic blissness...the place is a mess.

Diege · 01/06/2012 20:15

Hi Sparkly I will keep everything crossed for your 2ww xx
Angel I bet Phoebs looked adorable at nursery Smile. Your planned long weekend sounds great - let's hope for good weather! It's been lovely here today, despite the bad forcast, so I'm hoping the 5 day one for Whitby I just read is slightly off... Samuel is doing well, very mobile now, though just in a turning over way, no crawling as yet Grin. He is sooo gorgeous, and such a cuddly, squidgy baby Smile
Bistro-wise I have fallen off the diet wagon a day early, so will be ordering some deep-fried chicken, curly fries, a couple of fridge-cold double deckers, and a large glass of pepsi max. Not very bistro-esque I'll admit but making my tummy rumble Grin

AngelGeorgie · 01/06/2012 17:48

Diege poor u.. Hope u know soon enough what your options are. Have a lovely week away... We re away at a haven sands site in Lincs the week after ( a SUN holiday!!) in a caravan!!! Can t wait ; I ve not stayed in a caravan for years & years and it ll be a lovely break. Site looks nice with a swimming pool, club etc... Then 6 weeks after that Euro-Disney woo!!!! Cx

Italian you sound much brighter ... It's lovely to hear you planning again. Cx
Love to all our preggo ladies xxx hope you re not working too hard cxxx
Hi all ; hope everyone's ok? Wheter on the 2 WW, swi or just chilling..Grin
Broke up for 4 days off here : bliss. Phebs had a jubilee party at nursery got a cute little jubilee teddy... She wore a red suit as requested.
Seeing friends, gardening, swimming & chilling at the weekend; just bliss...
Love to all xxxx

sparklysapphire · 01/06/2012 15:30

Aargh, just written a long post and Firefox closed unexpectedly, so I'll try again.....

gum and inca very sorry for your losses.

miasmum, delighted that all's well at your 12 week scan, fingers crossed for the nuchal.

I hope you managed to talk sense into your consultant/midwife, lol. I have no experience of this, but it seems very strange they're not willing to offer the option of an ELCS. You don't need this stress now.

Did I miss the spa day? It sounded like a lovely plan so I hope you've all enjoyed it. I'd love to come next time. I'm reading but finding time to post is hard at the moment. Work is mad busy as we're in the middle of a major move and even when that's complete, the days of being able to do personal stuff in a lunch break are over as we're moving to a huge open plan office, so anyone wandering past can see you screen and what you're up to should they wish. And we'll be surrounded by senior management. But if I try and post from my phone it will be goobledygook.

I'm now in dreaded 2ww. SWI week went ok to start with but was hoping to DTD a couple more times. But checking CM, I think we managed it at the right time. If I'm not pg this month, it's gonna be August before there's another realistic chance as DH working away mid-cycle in both June and July.

Welcome to the newbies, and waves to everyone else.

Diege · 01/06/2012 13:30

Hello! Getting ready to head off for our week's hols in Whitby soon, but wanted to pop in, get the bistro rolling, and say a hello to everyone. I've been thinking about this thread alot the last few days, prompted by a very vivid dream about Gum (who was pregnant in it!) that seemed to last all night (not that it wasn't pleasant - involved lots of plane journies and chatting etc).
I know a little of the heartbreak almost everyone seems to have been through/are going through on this thread, but only a little, as have been incredibly blessed with my brood. Had colposcopy last week, after mildly dodgy cells on smear, and while the former looked fine they suspect the dodgy ones are further up into the cervix where the camera can't get to Hmm. I do have a history of abnormal smears, and have had 2 LLETZs, and apparently there is very little cervix left...so little that if they had to do further surgery they would recommend a hysterectomy Shock though they would need to get lots of opinions from the 'team' as it wouldn't be a usual option...anyway, pleased in a way that my family is complete but now of course panicking that I shoyld have one more Shock which I don't want but of course when someone tells you it's end of game you of of course want what you can't have [conbfused] Well I do anyway Blush.
Anyway, a few weeks till results are in so not stressing just yet.
Miamum it must feel very poignant to be pregant at this time of year. I'm so glad things are going well xxx
Italian it sounds like things are moving forward very positively on the adoption front - so pleased for you x
Better go and do a bit more packing...sorry not to namecheck more xxx

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 01/06/2012 12:49

hello all, and thank you for all your hugs and good wishes... it is hard, so all your positive vibes help enormously. Very aware that I was pg two years ago with Mia over the summer, and I was also doing many of the things I am doing now - it's hard not to feel that the last two years have disappeared into a vacuum.

Italian it is lovely to hear you sound so excited about adoption. May be the spare room clear-out be the next big step in your new life!

Lolfactor hope today's appointment has helped you find a workable solution, and there is no occasion for tears this time...

Italiangreyhound · 31/05/2012 23:28

Sending hugs to all the ladies. Miaalexandersmummy big hug for you. Grin

Love to hippy. Big hug from me.

Hi hopefulgum - hoping all is Ok with you my dears. I know it is tough and I am thinking of you. Sad

Hugs to Twirly BB, sparkleysappire, Hopefulgum, Hippy, Jolly, Diege, Angelgeorgie, MiasAlexandrasmum, clickingtock , Lol, Elena, Knickyknocks, Tina, Marythersa, Blackcatdancing, Shandy, movelikejagger, gothinrecovery, tazpat, Mrscupcake, Clicking and all.

I do hope you are well and keeping good.

Getting our spare room ready, one of the things Social Services need to know is have we got room for another child. Spare room full of junk and very plain and dull. So am looking for bright pictures but not too obviously for kids. I am going to de-junk room and put up some nice pictures so it looks child friendly but not ready for a child yet! Would be a bit spooky if it all looked too ready!

Italiangreyhound · 31/05/2012 23:23

Thanks purple.

Hugs to all.

Purpledragon · 31/05/2012 15:04

lol thanks for the SMEP link. I have heard of it. But wow, that's a lot of sex she says, stating the bloody obvious also, lots of luck to you over the coming days. What a great supportive thread, having zero experience I can only add my best wishes to you.

italian no I'm not in the US. You are quite right about the UK adoption system fueling the 'last resort' idea. It seems to be used as a marker of being 'serious' about adoption (having tried all other options in advance). We adopted internationally between Switzerland and Ethiopia (OHs birth country and son's birth country). The Swiss authorities did pursue this with me and were clearly looking for a list of interventions towards TTC. This didn't prove to be a big hurdle in the end (not that they didn't find other issues to fuss about). Glad to hear you are feeling positive. It's not easy but it is a positive an exciting thing to pursue.

lolfactor · 31/05/2012 12:57

Hi all - thanks for your lovely and really helpful posts. Armed with your info, I'm off the see the midwife tomorrow to see what can be done. It seems irresponsible to assume all is fine post 40 weeks. A plan should be in place to monitor the situation - especially as all mine have come out VERY overcooked (dry skin, yellow shade, long nails, hungry and skinny) and they were all born on or before my due date. I'm just praying this one does the same.

For today, however, we are enjoying the Spa. Twirly hope the Zita West vouchers arrived. All requests are granted - and no obligation to do anything (although I'm liking Gum's virtual botox)! Delighted you could join us, Gum!!

TinaO99 · 31/05/2012 10:01

Lol my legs are crossing here, 8lbs and growing!!!

In terms of the spa can I just skip to the strawberries and champagne?? I tried a spa at centre parcs once and was bored out of my mind, all that new age music and swapping from a steam laden room with my hair a freaky frizzy mess to a freezing cold shower and then on to hop into a bed still warm from the previous occupant didn't do it for me!

randomimposter · 31/05/2012 07:08

lol I'm so sorry you've got this worry at this stage. I'm shocked like others have said that this is their policy. I saw my consultant this week (am 21 weeks) and we had an early discussion on birth options, I am leaning towards ELCS at this stage, and he said whilst he would support me if I wanted a vaginal birth, at my age (44) he would want to keep a close eye on me at that stage, and would give ELCS at 39 weeks if that was my choice, and would NOT allow me to go over term as he and I would both be getting antsy at that stage. I really feel for you :(

MAM so totally delighted for you - can only begin to imagine the emotion you and DH feeling. Have all crossed the nuchal result comes through quickly and happily. :)

Lovely to see Italian and waves to all the other old-timers (partic me ole mucker Hippy). Great to see some newcomers joining the team and waving the flag for 40+mums and mums to be.

I can thoroughly recommend the spa at Baliffscourt, Climping. It is really special, have been a few times, but nowhere NEAR ENOUGH! Grin

Italiangreyhound · 31/05/2012 00:11

Lol all best wishes for the next few weeks! Keep us posted.

Thanks Purple. Can I ask, are you in the USA? I think the reason why people talk about adoption in those terms here in the UK (as in it being 'the last resort') is because normally social services here would say people could not put themselves forward for adoption and still be exploring fertility treatment or trying to conceive. It might be different with adoption charities I don't know because I have only looked at our local authority. I guess it might be that younger people might adopt and then later try and have a birth child but in this country it seems to be more normal that people look into adoption after having a birth child or a number of birth children or after trying to have a birth child. I must admit I now feel very positive about adoption. I guess also most children in the UK who are up for adoption are not babies and this may be different to other countries.

hopefulgum · 30/05/2012 23:29

Lovely news Miasmummy - so glad you could see your little baby wriggling about.

Lol, I'm amazed at your consultant. At 46 they will let you go to 41 weeks, and no chance of a c-section? I'm surprised.I know when I was 41 and having DS, my doc was keeping a close eye on me if I went past my due date.I delivered the day after,on a Saturday, but the plan was to see him on the Monday to decide what to do. I think your concerns are valid, and wonder if you could talk to someone else? Having said that, I also know of women in their 40's who had lovely home-births and everything was fine.

With my DS, I was also told he was very big - at the same stage as you, and he was born at term,8lb13. (((HUGS))), I know how vulnerable you are feeling, and I think they ought to listen to you.

Hippy, I'm pleased to hear that you are feeling at peace about ttc. I hope I'll get there soon. So sick of feeling like this. At least things are looking good at work. I had been hoping for some extra funding to do a special program with students, and it looks like we have it. The stupid principal has had an email about it since Feb (he's such an incompetent arse) but has only managed to get it to my deputy this week. Anyway, it means I will pick up a little more work, but also perhaps lose my cooking classes which I don't like. So things are looking up in that area. But I'd swap it all in a heartbeat for a healthy pregnancy and baby....

Spa trip wounds fab. I'm not a fan of facials and manicures, but wouldn't say no to a massage, reiki, reflexology and actually, a bit of botox (which, I might add,I'd never do in RL) to straighten out all the extra wrinkles I've gotten lately, would be nice. I could also use a nice hair colour and style. I want to use the jet and join you because it wouldn't be the same without you all.

Must dash, DS wants to make pikelets for breakfast, then its a workday. It's pouring with rain, might need wellies today.
