Happy Easter to all - especially the true believers on this thread. No chocolate eggs for me today (slimming world) but might nick a tiny bit if the boys choc.

Have everything crossed for you Italian.

Good news - Mr Hippy has now got a job, great excitement!

Italiangreyhound · 08/04/2012 02:51

Angelgeorgie Grin enjoy your last bit of time off on Maternity leave, I?m assuming you know you accrue holiday while on maternity leave, so you will have that to take (don?t you? Or already had it?).

knickyknocks thanks for your kind words. Yes, I too am looking forward to the chocolate, if DH has remembered to buy me an egg! I gave up alcohol for lent for can?t drink anyway until I know the test result! But I will go to town on a BIG chocolate egg if I get one!

Twirly I am hopeful all will go well. I found this stat out and it is better than 25% . Here is a slightly better statistic .... ?Women over the age of 45 can have up to a 50% chance of miscarriage.? www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/miscarriage.html I hope you do not mind me sharing that, I have not read the whole page.

Well ladies, I test on Thursday 12th and I get the joy of waiting another 2 days if it is negative and retesting so it could be Saturday 14th! Call it Friday 13th for ?luck! Luckily am not superstitious!

I had the most fabulous time at Spring Harvest. www.springharvest.org/ For those who do not know what it is, Spring Harvest is a Christian festival held every Easter at Butlins, in a couple of locations, but we normally go to Minehead. It combines a wonderful, inspiration, fun-filled Christian activity of teaching, worship, workshops etc with tons of food (and it really is nice food now), chalets that are very modern and actually warm, free stuff like a pool with flumes etc, fun fair, Bob land etc, the beach on the doorstep and a few other things you need to pay for like bowling, cycle-cars and table tennis. We managed to do just about everything you could imagine while there. Our DD had a blast and loved her children?s morning group, where they were all learning to be ?space cadets?. She was in tears as we left because she loved it so much. One of the biggest things for me was that there was a session on fostering and adoption and I went along. I met all kinds of people who were looking into fostering and adoption and I just felt a real sense of rightness about the timing. Of course I do still hope our treatment has worked. If it has maybe in the future we will end up fostering or adopting as well. If it has not worked, I feel I am finally ready to lay to rest the desire to have another baby in my belly and I am ready to look into adoption. We would have to wait six months but I would have my to do list ready ? get fit! I can?t explain it, because just under two years ago when our first donor egg IVF failed I just was not ready to look at adoption seriously, I had too many issues and frankly I was way too needy in myself! God has totally built me up and he used even these few days away to prepare me. I am not saying I am assuming our treatment has not worked, I?m just saying if it has not worked I do think I am finally ready to move on. Whereas before I would have said I was still not sure if adoption would be our next step, I now feel really sure it would be something to explore, and DH and DD are both in favour. Whatever happens, I know that Care for the Family www.careforthefamily.org.uk/adopt/ are looking at supporting adopters and I am keen that if this is something God is calling me into I will be keen to look into it, once I have dealt with whatever is going on (or not going on) in my belly! Anyway, that?s just for me, I know that having a baby/adopting etc are totally different and I know a while ago I was not ready so we all do things in different ways but I guess it has given me some peace as I go into the second week of our two week wait!

Hugs to MummyofMissM, Tina Hippy, Hopefulgum, Marythersa, Blackcatdancing, Shandy, Fireflies, Diege, MiasAlexandrasmum, Lol, Elena and co. ? Did I forget anyone?? Hugs all.

AngelGeorgie · 07/04/2012 10:43

Thanks Knickyknocks xx I don t mind my job, quite enjoy it actually & really like about 98% of my colleagues so that's not a problem it's just being full time again. The lack of time to do anything etc... Though I ve carried 45 hours of AL over so for the first 6 weeks I m doing reduced hours. Once I have a normal month & know how much (little) I m left with after I ve paid foe childcare I ll see if I can drop a day. However, that will mean I ll loose about £300-350 a month but probably only save about £100 ish a month in reduced nursery fees so will have to see!!!
Good luck with the potty training sounds fun!!!Hmm yes, enjoy your chocolate & sorry you din t think it's your month. Take care xxx
Morning all; love to all xxxx

knickyknocks · 06/04/2012 20:20

Italian thinking of you and sending loads of positive vibes that this is your turn this time. You truly deserve it to be.

Tina know how you feel. It just doesn't get any easier. Hugs coming you way.
angel I remember that return to work all too well. Flipping horrible especially I as returned to a job that I wasn't particularly fussed about. Since returning though have days when I enjoy having some time off from being a mummy (still wish I could win the lottery though so didn't have to work....and still can't wait to collect DD from nursery at the end of the day). Hope it goes well next week.
fireflies I have a positive sweep story! Had a sweep on my due date. Think sweeps success depend on how soft your cervix already is. Mine worked within 18 hours with labour starting. DD born 6 hours after that. Would definitely recommend a sweep.

I'm doing OK, though think once more this won't be my month. I'm 7DPO and not feeling too hopeful. What with my work being so stressful and the feeling that another month trots on by, have felt down in the past few days. Glad to have the Easter break (though potty training DD so not exactly restful!). Thank goodness I can have guilt free chocolate this Sunday....! Much love to all xxx

AngelGeorgie · 06/04/2012 18:05

Hi MummyofM nice to hear from you. Yes, can t believe I ve had my mat leave??? Lucky you being able to pack in work I just can t afford it. Especially as Ant hasn t secured a permanent post , well, still can t afford it then!!!
FF no positive sweep stories here I m afraid. I would never, ever have another as I had one with Georgie ... Then.. Don t know if it was the sweep that enabled the E Coli to infiltrate my membranes but no way i' d risk it again. ( though, obviously didn t need one when having a section at 37 weeks!!!).
Hi all; enjoying last few days of freedom. Took Phebs to Tropical World today she liked the Mearcats & butterfly's.
Hope you re all enjoying the bank holiday??? Xxxx

Italiangreyhound · 06/04/2012 17:30

Elena I?m thinking of you. looking at an old post here but just to say .... Hippy thanks for sharing your painful experience with Elena, that sounds kind of weird but I am sure you know what I mean! When DD was only young my DH and I had a choice, did we start looking at adoption for number 2, (I had wanted to adopt for years) or did we have another baby! We both wanted to try again! Six and a half year later we are just waiting to see if our final HONESTLY our FINAL attempt has worked (via IVF with donor eggs). It has cost us a lot both financially and emotionally but had we not tried I would have always wondered and maybe assumed that at any time I could have had another baby as DD was conceived quite easily with IUI on our second attempt. So I guess I agree that sometimes you just need to go down a route but you do need to work out in advance if you are up for it! So to speak!

Lol Again looking at an old post here but just to say .... totally agree 19 is quite young to ask someone to leave, especially as it could build resentment for your DS that he is being knocked out of the ?nest?. I was popping back and forward to my dear parents? house again and again until I got married in my thirties! My poor parents! I think it was a combination of factors, international travel and work abroad coupled with dire need to earn cash in Big Apple and parents living in the suburbs! (London not New York). Kindly Mum and Dad made the back bedroom available to me again and again! However, what they did not do is give me any incentive to leave! They washed my clothes, cooked my meals, charged me the most minimal of rents and my Dad (I blush as I write this!) even chauffeured me around as I did not have a car! So all I would say is to be welcoming but to also help to prepare your young man for life outside the nest where (unless he marries a woman from the fifties ? FROM the fifties not OF fifty!) he will not find anyone to wait on him hand and foot!). Just some friendly free-loader advice from someone who could have written the manual! Also, when baby comes will they not be in your room for the first 6 months to a year? If so you could hold of building (!). A purpose built granny flat/lad lounge would add value to your place so the building society should be pleased (I doubt many people are making huge redevelopments in these days!).

So Angelgeorgie either I am a boy (checks self!) or there are wastrel girls out there (I?m not a girl anymore, I was a full grown woman when I kept coming back ? maybe just not a very mature one!).

Angelgeorgie*, all best wishes going back to work.

Hugs to Diege, Hopefulgum, Marythersa, Blackcatdancing, Shandy, MummyofMissM and co.

twirlyagogo · 06/04/2012 17:28

Hi Italiangreyhound - thank you! I'm on tablets but no side effects thankfully, will take a while to kick in for me and, hopefully, I'll be exhausted through still being pregnant! I don't smoke, don't drink, weight is fine, so I really need something else that I can do to make it feel that I'm giving this my best shot, if that makes sense?

MiaAlexandrasMummy - hope all is well with you x

Italiangreyhound · 06/04/2012 17:24

MummyofMissM thank you for your kind prayers, I really appreciate it. Lovely to hear from you and really hope the new no job things works well. Life is too short indeed. Doing what you love, and being with who you want to be with, is great. I am sure you will manage fine and enjoy your time. HUGE HUGS. Grin Wink

Tina Grin and knickyknocks Grin all the best on the two week wait.

Tina don?t give up and keep going. If DH is smoking would it really help him to give up or cut down, especially if you are hoping to be pregnant, for you and baby as well as him. Plus because sperm is made fresh rather than hanging around in bodies, like our eggs, just giving up now would mean his sperm would be smoke-free in a while (anyone medical can advise???). I was a smoker from age 12 to 30, them miraculous gave up at church at age 30 and have never smoked since! Now hate it and am asthmatic so am very pro no smoke, and nowadays lots and lots of ways to help people give up. Sorry to nag, just know it is a blight on health and as someone who is not too healthy these days I think every little helps (with no nod to Tesco!!). Hugs to you dear Tina. (They can do something to older eggs called ?assisted hatching? BUT no idea if it works or is worth cost!!! [http://www.hfea.gov.uk/assisted-hatching.html]

Fireflies Have not got a good stretch and sweep (or a swirly ? as I like to call it) story ? sorry! It did nothing. Basically my baby was not ready to come but the pre-eclampsia symptoms meant I needed to be inducted. Good luck, hope baby comes naturally but if not it is not a disaster and I am sure you know all about pineapple (fresh) raspberry leaf tea (READ up on when to drink it 'cos I can?t remember!) sex, curry and walking! So sorry to hear about stupid neighbours, how awful that they are being so nasty. Is there any kind of conflict resolution service in your area? Sorry if being naive, no idea what the problem is. [http://www.ukmediation.net/cms/Neighbourhood_Mediation] Fortunately, I have not needed to use mediation services so have no idea how they work but just wondered if there was any way of de-escalating the situation (ignore me if I?ve missed the point).

Italiangreyhound · 06/04/2012 17:17

Hi ladies, just back and catching up.

MiasAlexandrasmum WOW fab FAB FAB FAB

MiasAlexandrasmum I am so very happy, you so much deserve this. I am just so pleased my dear because it is a wonderful birthday present and I, like my fellow forty some things, am just delighted. [There so much needs to be a heart emotion on this place!] [

MummyofMissM · 06/04/2012 15:18

So much excitement on the thread... had to pop by and give Jolly a big hug. I am so pleased for you - have been crossing my fingers for you, but that great nuchal result is just brilliant... Grow Jolly Bean, Grow! I remember your last MMC, and it was just heart breaking - am so glad Jolly has much to be jolly about again!

Italian all my fingers and toes crossed for you now... If only life was fair, we would have nothing to worry about. Praying xx

Diege and lou can't believe you're both almost back at work... where did all that time go?

Love to Hippy Gum and all the rest of the original snugglers :) Snugglers? Snuglets?

Brilliant to hear allthe snug bumps are growing nicely...Big cheer for all the BFPs too - especially you Mia Pg tends to send bereaved parents into spin (really scary, ain't it). Georgie's mum will hold your hand I'm sure :)

We are fine, on holiday in the sunshine. Miss M is gurgling with purpose, ie. it sounds awfully like she might say something soon, and bottom shuffling. Have thrown my job in - decided life was too short. Poverty here we come :)

twirlyagogo · 05/04/2012 09:47

hippychick - if the '66' in your name is an ever-so-subtle clue, then, yes, we're the same age!

I've been thinking about the stats - and they are awful - but it occurred to me that even if someone said I had a one in a million chance of miscarriage, I'd still think I'd be the one.

MiaAlexandrasMummy - how are you today?

hippychick66 · 05/04/2012 09:11

Fab news on BFPs ladies. Really pleased. Miasmum I have been hoping you'd get a BFP- can't imagine how scared you must be but as so many have said before - for today you are pregnant & take it slow, my love. And Twirly - you sound like you're close to my age so you've given me a tiny bit of hope, keep calm and carry on and try not to think about the stats. X

randomimposter · 05/04/2012 08:00

What brilliant news on the BFPs - hurrah!!!

AngelGeorgie · 04/04/2012 22:29

Huge congrats Twirly xxxx
Diege yes d.day is Tuesday!!!! Don t mind the work , really like about 97% of my colleagues but it's just the thought of being restricted by work & all the politics going on!!! ( the joys of working for the NHS!!!) latest thing; as our trust are so much in debt ( as always) they re proposing all staff take a period of un paid leave to help them!!!! Nice but I bet tge nursery won t regale on their fees then!!! Also loads of politics in my work place normally attributed to 3 people who do & will get away with murder!!
You do really well din t know how you manage!!!
FF glad alls well & you re happy with your medical care. I certainly am enjoying every minute with my darling this week , though she's been a bit grizzly today , think it's teething!!! Having a section early was the way to go for me there's no way I would go over term I feel there's too many risks involved & luckily I ve got a consultant who agrees. As I see it the placenta is only designed to last 40 weeks & most will be fine if over that time but mine wasn t so there's no way I'd risk it again. However, you have to do what's right with you. Xxx
Hi Lol hope you re son is happy with your idea? Xxx
Hi all ; hope u re all well & surviving the weather? How odd from jeans, top & sunglasses to coat, scarf & gloves within a week!!!!
Last settling in session at nursery tomorrow before Tuesday eek... Xxx

twirlyagogo · 04/04/2012 17:56

And I know I would want this answered if I was reading - did I do anything different this month? Only thing I can think of was agnus castus and B vits till day 10, and that was my first time ever on them.

twirlyagogo · 04/04/2012 17:55

This is just for 10000 fireflies and hopefulgum - I don't want everyone knowing Grin . . . whisper it . . . . I won't see 45 again Blush.

I don't have any symptoms either MiaAlexandrasMummy - but when I did the test, the digital one came up in seconds, I mean, almost instantly. When I think of the times over the past few years when I've been holding them up to the light, wondering if there is something tiny and faint there . . . I guess when it's there, it's there because it wasn't even on first morning wee.

However, I'm not counting my chickens (or anything else egg based). I've had missed miscarriages before so I know the tricks my body can play. I've already started the anxious looking-at-the-loo-paper every time palaver. Still, if it doesn't work out, I'll know I've given it a shot before I head off to the retirement home.

Thank you all so much for being lovely - I know I'm new here, but I have lurked for a bit, and, although I might disappear if things go wrong (don't want to spread too much misery), I appreciate it all.

Special more fingers crossed to MiaAlexandrasMummy

knickyknocks · 04/04/2012 14:52

Thanks for twirly/bestbe. More fab news. Am sending positive vibes that you and MAM both have an easy time of it. You both must be feeling understandably anxious. For today you are pregnant. There is nothing to suggest that this won't be a smooth run. We're all holding your hands.

Oh tina know how you feel, I'm 6DPO, and currently going from really hopeful (every time I think I can feel a twinge), to feeling like this won't be my month. It's pants. It's not over yet though for either of us this month. AF is due around Fri 13th (oh how apt....) will keep my fingers crossed for both of us.

fireflies what a ridiculous nasty neighbour. Twat. You could certainly do without the stress. Hope things calm down soon (or preferably he moves to a small hut in the outer hebrides....)

hopeful know how it feels to miss the vital day for ovulation thanks to DHs shift patterns. As you say though sometimes it feels like a blessing in disguise as you don't need to play mindgames for 2weeks wondering whether every twinge/sensation you feel could be significant. That said, also know how it feels to have to discount another month. Forever feels like you're wishing your time away.

Right best go, work once more calling.......lots of love xx

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 04/04/2012 13:39

And thank you to Tina too!! Sorry, on my phone... fWIW, I have had no symptoms at all, so don't lose heart just yet.

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 04/04/2012 13:32

twirly/ best hooray for you!! Wow, that is great news. Think positive, use angel's mantra - For today, I am pregnant.

diege your feeling is very spooky, especially as I hadn't been on for a while. Can I bestow your pregnancy predictor powers to all the others here also waiting for a BFP? Quite like the idea of this talent floating around the thread.

Thank you for the good wishes, lol. yes, very much an hour by hour process here.

I just rang my brother, whose daughter is a little older than Mia, and told him the news. He cried.

hopefulgum · 04/04/2012 12:44

Congratulations bestbe. Wonderful news. And exactly how old are? Need all the good news I can get over here.

It's my last day tomorrow, then two weeks easter break.Hurray! Really need it. Sadly my DH is off for 8 days (on Saturday) and so I think I'll probably ovulate while he's away. I suppose that means,at least,I'll have a two week wait where I'm not wondering...Sad

Lol, I'm not too sure about the DHEA. I'm still not taking it because I do worry it might be screwing with my hormones, though I've not really had side effects. I don't know - need to meditate on this one...

Tina, I do see what you mean, and perhaps IVF will give you some clues. Hopefully your consultant can shed some light.

I hope this run of bfp's can keep going until each and everyone of us becomes pregnant and gives birth to a lovely healthy baby or babies. Count me in - still want one, despite the finances, hard work and tiredness.Smile

TinaO99 · 04/04/2012 12:29

congratulations to Mialexandrasmummy and bestbesomeoneelse great news!!

Italian how is your 2ww going? Any signs yet? I've given up now, not started period but all symptoms have gone, also had a crash from coming down from the hormone drugs yesterday and spent the day alternately raging and crying my eyes out.

I've decided to take a little break from treatments and speak to my consultant again as I don't think IUI is going to work for me. Am seriously considering one go at IVF before the bank breaks, can't really afford it but it's either one go at this or two more goes at IUI so I reckon the odds are probably pretty similar. I'm really mystified as to why I've not had any kind of pregnancy whatsoever - may be a coincidence but I wondered if there was something the clinic hasn't covered (egg shell too hard or dh sperm wrong on the inside as he smokes) at least with ivf the tow will be made to meet and we'll see what happens!

10000fireflies · 04/04/2012 12:12

OMFG! Another BFP! Go Twirly, go twirly/ bestbesomeoneelse. Thanks Thanks Thanks for you too!! What a result!! Two in one week!! BTW? how old???? ThanksThanks

Hmm Victor Meldrew? he?s younger than us?. Have nicknamed him Mr Angry, so hum the Mr Men theme when he?s around and causing trouble. He will make a twat of self in front of other neighbours. Only a matter of time now. Hadn?t considered the dog poo through letter box. Could be worth a try!!

Yeah Lol - see if you can wrangle another scan. I don?t feel like there?s anything to worry about with this LO. Is just lazy. Like father!! So, might take parents along for next scan as a treat. Much better than photos.

Diege good luck with the tantrum management!!

twirlyagogo · 04/04/2012 11:05

Diege - I'm not sure how I feel actually. It seems so unlikely. I was saying to my partner that when I call for an appointment and give them my date of birth they'll probably take ten years off, thinking they've misheard it, and still think I'm old!

I'm letting myself be a bit happy, but in the back of my mind, I know that it's really unlikely to work. I think the stats are 75% miscarriage at my age. I don't think I'll go to a clinic until I'm 8 weeks, if I get that far - which seems a lifetime away and not something I'll manage.

lolfactor · 04/04/2012 11:02

all just reread that and realised it could sound insensitive. Sorry - totally unintentional. Just meant it would be lovely to see little one's face. Blush
