How FABULOUS Gum! Grin

hopefulgum · 17/05/2012 22:52

Did another test this morning and it's faint, but there's a line. Yesterday's line seems darker, but it was in the middle of the day, perhaps that makes a difference? Not going to obsess about it. Had a nice high temp this morning but I do have a full blown headcold.

For today,I am pregnant. No more spotting - guessing it was implantation.I hope that means the bean is snuggling tightly in.Smile

Lol, remind me,did you take progesterone? I know my progesterone is usually normal, but have worried in the past that it may have dropped too low and caused my last miscarriage as there was no definite chromosomal issue (those the test got botched,so who knows). Anyway,I'm just not sure about the progesterone, and wanted to see if others on here had used it,how much, and for how long? Will it have to be the pessaries,or can you take a pill?

Might have to google itGrin

Nice to hear all is well,Angel.

AngelGeorgie · 17/05/2012 20:24

Oh Luckyagain I had an ERPC with my 2 nd MC was fine & it took about 5-6 weeks for my period to reappear after. Sorry xx

AngelGeorgie · 17/05/2012 20:23

Twirly sorry xx
Gum congrats GrinGrinGrin
All good here just so busy at work & with Phebs. However, wouldn t have it any other way (well apart from our Georgie being here) but its lovely
Love to all xxxx

Diege · 17/05/2012 13:07

Shock Gum Grin I will be keeing everything crossed for you that the bfp does indeed stick - please give (hourly) updates! Strange that you should have felt so compelled to buy a test - something somewhere is sending out positive vibes! xxx
Twirly so sorry for you - what a horrible shock Sad I had a mc (missed though) at 10 weeks a few years ago and it was one of the toughest things I've been through. Thinking of you xxx

hopefulgum · 17/05/2012 12:16

Yes, LOL, many people are without realising - even in Australia where we get a lot of sun.I know I was borderline, despite spending time outside everyday. Which reminds me,I must take my supplements tonight.

Well, I was so sure there was no hope for me,but today, while at work I felt compelled to go shopping,so popped out and picked up an ept, and peed on it at work.

I don't know why I did, especially as I'd had an obvious negative this morning. And lo and Behold - I got a faint BFP. Later I had a little brown spotting. I hope that means implantation rather than an early indication of AF coming.

I'm just going to quietly hold onto hope without making plans, anything could happen. It might be a chemical.

It's funny though, cos I have had a strong feeling that all the planets were aligned this month - but still had a few wobbles - my breast tenderness was gone this morning, but is back now.

I hope it is sticky this time. I'll call my Dr tomorrow for a progesterone script if I get a positive in the morning...Smile

lolfactor · 17/05/2012 09:53

ITS not it's!!! Gah! The shame...
Must read through.

ps - we are often Vit D in this country without realising, hence my interest in the study.

lolfactor · 17/05/2012 09:51

Hi Sparkly. Not sure about the caffeine, although my 8 cups of tea a day were probably not helping with vitamin absorption Blush. There was a good study in Scandinavia which showed the effect of reduced vitamin D on fertility. Unfortunately, it suggested vit D supplements and no alocohol; needless to say, I just took the supplement Shock. I think co-enzyme q10 is a good idea although I'm basing this on it's DHEA-type qualities and I'm not sure if this is real or imagined. SMEP is a good way to go, but I'm not sure it will fit in with your working pattern/partner, so you'll have to come up with your own plan based on charting. Planning SWI trysts sounds quite exciting...fingers crossed for next month.

Jolls how lovely to be able to see the baby again next week. You must really know it's little personality by now. Are you going to find out which sex it is or are you happy to know 'on the day'?

Clicking 13 kids! Sounds like a challenge, BB. Grin
FF WHERE ARE YOU? Cashing in your Bounty Pack vouchers?

Big ((( ))) to those whose AFs have arrived or are just around the corner.

Shandy ignore the sex/curry advice and avoid watching 'One Born Every Minute'. Good luck. Today could be the day!

Diege any news on the tests yet? Hoping all's well with you.

Hi. Big Congrats Beattie. I've been checking in every now and again to see if there was news. I knew you were due same time as me and were very supportive when I had my mmc.
Lovely news. I'm still waiting, 40+6 days today and still no baby, it's been such a long journey I can't wait, but as usual am still finding things to worry about.
Take care.
Good luck jolls for your scan, it's always hard I think bit half way there, yeh.
Sorry twirly I hope things work out for you again, it's a hard road to go down and pick yourself up from to start again. But take heart others of us have here and there is hope. Xx

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 16/05/2012 22:21

twirly you know I have been thinking of you. I am so, so sorry. And it's not daft of thinking about making a list, if it helps you get through this.

joll yep, know the feeling, I am anxious too...

hopeful you make me smile with your early testing!!

clicking no-one has ever blinked an eye about me being over 40 and pg when I had Mia. In fact, my GP dad was quite astonished at how normally I have been treated. Bit different now, but I think that's because of my circumstances, rather than my age.

lucky I have had an EPRC and I think it took about six weeks to get back to normal. I was told to keep trying straight away!

luckyagain · 16/05/2012 20:26

Hi everyone - I have been "read only" for a couple of weeks as I have been on holiday and am now back to reality and facing the "what next" dilemas.
Beattie what wonderful news and enjoy your beautiful girl! I too am new to the site so haven't followed your journey but that doesn't lessen the whoosh of good feeling when one reads about the success and knowing you have your little girl in your arms...bliss
Twirly so sorry to hear your news. its a miserable thing to go through whether you were preparing yourself or not. hope you take good care of yourself and best of luck with what you decide to do next.
Clicking Wow! What fab news on your BFP - I am cheering from the sidelines here
Hopeful you have my sympathy....I am dreaful for early testing, I almost wish I could take an amnesia drug and forget I am ttc and just wake up one day and think "oh I'm 3 weeks late....I'm pregnant"! hope it's an early test negative rather than a negative negative IYSWIM

AFM I am still waiting for my first period following my ERPC on the 17th April. I've been wearing my DuoFertility monitor but I think the data doesn't mean a great deal until you have had a complete cycle. I am a bit nervous about trying again but have started to feel the natural route is the way to go for us as I found the IVF cycle so hard last time, especially with how it all ended. I would like to say that my holiday recharged me but my 17 month old DS ran me ragged and topped off with a night flight home....well, enough said!

A quick question - for those of you unlucky enough to have experienced an ERPC (D and C) - did it take long for your first period to come?

Hope everyone else is doing great and that you've had some sunshine today....it's been shining brightly here in Bristol xx

blackcatsdancing · 16/05/2012 16:46

twirly just wanted to say how sorry i am to hear your sad news. Take care.

clickingtock · 16/05/2012 09:43

Sorry jollster - not Lol. Gah. Blush

clickingtock · 16/05/2012 09:42

Oh Twirly - how rotten for you. Utterly disappointing and just unfair. You seem remarkably strong, but that's not a consolation. We are all sending you (((hugs))) and before you start your list - just go and indulge yourself in some outrageous food - pate, blue cheese etc - and a very good bottle of vino, or your favourite tipple.

Lol - interesting to hear how non-judgemental the medical lot are. That's fantastic. I saw a consultant just before I got a BFP who basically tried to put me off by saying most women accept that it's not a good idea after 40 (or words to that effect). Like you say - babies after 40 would have been the norm before contraception. My Granddad was among the last of 13 and I'm pretty sure his mother can't have been a spring chicken. Good luck at your 20wk scan.

Waves and Smile to all.

xxx

twirlyagogo · 16/05/2012 07:55

Thank you all so much for the supportive (as always) words - hippy, lol, sparkly, gum, 'Joll*, you are all very kind. Think the worst of it is over - no matter how many I have, I'm still always surprised at how physically painful it all is even at this very early stage as I was just short of ten weeks. Will get a scan soon to check all is clear.

On one hand, I think I should be making a list (DHEA, CoQ10, AMH tests and a million other things I've picked up here), but on the other keep thinking that it's really daft at my age anyway.

Jollster - all the very best with your scan, I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is perfect for you both. x

randomimposter · 16/05/2012 07:26

so sorry twirly, it's a horrible time, please look after yourself and indulge in all the forbidden things.

Beattie, congratulations on the arrival of your DD - how lovely. I hope things are all settled down now at home, are you staying in London or heading back to the coast. Enjoy your babymoon, and the other children getting to know DC6!!

the DHEA question, just to give you my perspective. I took it specifically because after my Recurrent MC tests showed nothing else wrong, 3 MMCs tended to suggest an egg quality issue (not hugely surprising in early 40s). So I took 75mg a day for about 8 months I think (bit blurry on dates). I think it's suggested it takes 4 months to make any difference. I was advised to take it every day throughout the cycle. So I don't think it's necessarily the holy grail and the answer for everyone, but as has already been said, it's not been proven yet one way or the other.

Hope everyone's ok. My 20 week scan is next week - and have been a bit anxious this week (probably and hopefully baseless but inevitable with a wobbly history). I think as it'll be 5 weeks since my last scan (and I've been scanned at 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15 this time!) I'm just a bit neurotic! In the past I'd have rolled my eyes if I'd read this about someone at 19 weeks, and thought "oh just get a grip", but I guess that's what hormones do!

Waves x

hopefulgum · 15/05/2012 23:59

Oh Beattie - CongratulationsThanksThanksThanksThanksThanks
I'm so pleased you have your little girl with you and that all is well.If anyone deserves it,you do. Enjoy every moment(I know you will).

Twirly, I'm so sorry about the miscarriage. It is just so sad. We love our babies right from the start, I think, so it is very hard to lose what we were looking forward to. I do hope you recover (physically) quickly.I know the emotional recovery
will take time. (((HUGS)))

Yes Deige I know it's too early to test. But as per usual,I'm incurable, and I want to get a script for progesterone asap. But,you know what,I reckon it won't be this time. I'm 9 DPO now and my temperature should be going up and it isn't.It's hovering around the same spot,so all is not lost, but I no longer feel hopeful. I expect AF will drop by on Sunday or Monday.

sparklysapphire · 15/05/2012 23:23

that should say lovely knowledgeable ladies. And I checked it before posting....

sparklysapphire · 15/05/2012 23:21

Congratulations beattiebow on the birth of your daughter, I haven't been here long but it's lovely news.

Very sorry to hear of your mc twirly, be nice to yourself.

lol your positive experience cheered me up, and together with beattiebow's news has reminded me that it's still possible.

kiwibabe I know what you mean about the "what ifs" but I'm looking at the positives in that at least we're trying now, otherwise I'd be miserable all the time. I got af on Sunday too, but by then I was expecting it. I think I was so down last week because it was at this stage when TTC DD that I got pregnant, but too expect it to be so straightforward now is not realistic I guess.

So with that in mind and now on cycle 4, I need to be a bit more pro-active I think. So do I really need to give up caffeine? I can live without coffee but not tea. Temping or OPKs or both? I usually work shifts, but I'm off them working on a project til the end of July, (hating the regular hours!) so I'm not sure if temping works well with shift work. Also, DH works away a lot over the summer and I'm pretty sure he's going to be away mid-cycle this month. Any suggestions/advice from all you lovely knowledgeable much appreciated.

keeping fingers crossed for hopeful

hi to everyone else. X

lolfactor · 15/05/2012 23:12

BB OH CONGRATULATIONS!!! So so pleased for you and your lovely little girl!!! Delighted everyone is a smitten as they should be. And so cheered that all is going well after, as you say, a really s**t 2010/11. That was rough for lots of us, if I remember, but you had it particularly bad. Just so thrilled for you all. WELL DONE!! Thanks

Twirly I know you had prepared yourself but it doesn't lessen the heartbreak. Many of us have been where you are now (including BB above). Please put yourself first over the next few weeks as you recover. Our thoughts are with you. (((()))) Sad

Kiwibabe people do say the strangest things - almost as if they're thinking out loud, which they probably are. One new mum said to me yesterday that she was very worried about trying for a second baby at 40 as, 'you didn't know what you were going to get'. It's not the best thing a 46 year-old pregnant woman would wants to hear. Neither was the comment from 2 close friends and my Mum when I told them I was pregnant - 'You do know you could die, don't you?' Hmm. Interestingly, the midwives, nurses and consultants have never even mentioned my age. When I've brought it up they've said, in so many words, 'so what?' It is such a marked difference in attitude that I found it astonishing for the first few months. When I asked if they were 'ok' with me being older, they almost always said, 'you and the baby look fine to me. People have really outdated preconceptions of motherhood and age. I bet it wasn't so 'unusual' before contraception became available.

hippychick66 · 15/05/2012 22:32

Twirly - so so sorry to hear about the mc. I know how hard my losses were and I really feel for you. So bloody disappointing! Take care and as soon ad you feel able, try to take advantage of the fertile window post mc. X
Beattie - fabulous news about babyBB. We do seem to have been on this journey together for a flippin' long time - pleased the waiting paid off. X
Just a quick mention about DHEA - I take 50mg every day (I would stop if I ever got the illusive BFP). No side effects at all here - no spots or hair loss - but I know everone reacts differently. I guess I just hope that it will improve my eggs a teeny bit :)
Much love to all. X

Ps. I think that should be elusive not illusive!!!!! Call myself a TA????

AngelGeorgie · 15/05/2012 22:09

That is lovely, lovely news Beattie! Hope all is well with you and your baby, and that you are enjoying much happiness together xx

No good news here I'm afraid as I started miscarrying a few days ago as expected, but don't want to bring the thread down when there has been such a wonderful annoucement so won't dwell on it. Thank you all for your kind words and support - I may very well be back, you never know . . .

Love and luck to everyone!
