Thanks lol - you're all so lovely; do you all want to come round for a cup of tea; I scare all the RL people off! Grin

May I ask what a chemical pregnancy is? I don't know all of this stuff - I remember getting tested for a molar pregnancy in one miscarriage too, and didn't know what that was either Blush.

lolfactor · 23/05/2012 08:57

Gum Big hug. There's no easy way to sit it out, is there? We all feel for you. Hope your day goes swiftly and positively for you.

Shandy Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks
Terrific news! So pleased for you. What a long journey - and now you've arrived! Now can you tell me how you did 30 mins, please? Think I could cope with that Grin.

Diege great news about Samuel's tests. That's one ticked off the 'worry list' hopefully. Does anyone's list ever get any shorter, though? Hmm Perhaps I'll just consign mine to the circular.

Twirly ((( )))

Tina loving the slummy mummy approach. Sometimes the bathroom floor is the only place to be...although the garden is looking very tempting at the moment. Even if the lawn is 3 feet high.

Enjoy the sun everyone!

TinaO99 · 23/05/2012 08:41

congratulations shandy!!!! Lovely news!!!

gum don't despair yet, maybe the line was weaker simply because it was a cheap test, try not to read too much into it at this stage

I'm afraid I'm feeling a bit 'under the weather' this morning, dh and I got a 'little' tipsy last night and didn't get into bed until 1 then I had to be up at 6, I nearly collapsed in the shower and had to lie on the bathroom floor soaking wet until I didn't feel like blacking out anymore.....I'm NEVER drinking Wine again (or anything else for that matter!!) Wink

hopefulgum · 22/05/2012 23:16

Congratulations Shandy - what lovely news.

Too Late Lucky, I've already googled this morning, and kind of wish I hadn't.

Old anxieties creeping back, and I wish I could skip the next 8 weeks - perhaps in a coma or something...I'm afraid I did a test when I woke this morning, an internet cheapie and it's so light it's barely visible. I hope it means nothing, but on the other hand I'm stealing myself for a chemical pregnancy.

Being prepared mentally, though, doesn't seem to make things any easier. I know I'm jumping the gun a bit, but despite all the bravado about being calm, and accepting etc, I'm going to be terribly disappointed if things don't work out, and of course, at my age, there's a very good chance they won't.

Sorry about the negativity, I just really expected, at 16 DPO,I'd get a reasonable line on a test.

Now I just have to wait and see. I'm not going to have beta blood tests or anything like that.

AngelGeorgie · 22/05/2012 20:57

Glad it's not just me Lucky !!! Xx

luckyagain · 22/05/2012 19:29

Gum here's one for your list - DON'T go on Google when you feel any creeping negativity! This thread is your sanctuary in google temptation times!

Shandybass - wonderful news and hope you are enjoying every magical second!

Clicking and MiaAlexandra'sMummy sending you lots of hugs and hope that the days are speeding up (in a good way) and everything is going well for you both (and indeed to everyone else!)

Twirly I hear you on the lack of RL consideration/care. I have been a bit shocked at how little some people have seemingly given a damn....I also had one or two humdinger comments about "well twins would have been hard work" ...enough said....

AngelGeorgie I'm joining you in the bad mummy camp....I had a day off today but the nanny still came and I had a snooze this afternoon :o All I can say is I hope you feel great after a few hours "off" of the most demanding job on the planet!

AFM.....after posing the question about when my period will return guess what? She arrived and so I felt that rush of optimism that comes from being a week or so away from "opportunity".

Hope everyone is enjoying the brilliant weather and it's lifting spirits where needed.

love from Lucky x

twirlyagogo · 22/05/2012 16:22

Shandy - how lovely! Well done you - hope you're enjoying it all so much x

Thank you to everyone who is being kind enough to ask how I am - RL isn't working quite that way Sad but never mind, onwards and upwards, or onwards and lying back with my backside on a pillow and my legs up in the air for 30 minutes Smile . . .

Was at GP today - asked if I was going to try again so I saw that as an opportunity to see if there was any info I didn't know and was going to be miraculous (as if). She said that, in her experience, it's better to do nothing as the pregs which will be successful are the ones which are natural iyswim. She said that, apart from folic acid (and no smoking, drinking etc), there was absolutely no evidence that anything worked unless there was a specific problem. She's probably right, but I did so much want the miracle piece of advice . . .

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun x

AngelGeorgie · 22/05/2012 14:48

"Mystery" what is that???? They re no mystery but nursery fees crappy I phone!!!

AngelGeorgie · 22/05/2012 14:46

Yeh Shandy congrats xxxxGrinGrin
Gum xxx
Diege I m doing 32 hours a week 4 x 8.5 hour days ( get paid for 8 hours a day) so barely part time!!! Couldn t afford to drop a proper day a week (ie: 30 hours a week) I m still loosing £300 a month but mystery fees are reduced by £100 a month. I ve put my pension on hold at the moment to I clear a loan next year which equals an extra £240 a month!!!
No set days off which is fine but off duty done up to August so I could give nursery plenty of notice!!!
Look at our little " fatties" love it!!!!
Feel very guilty as finished work at 1 today (using up last years AL) & not collected Phebs from nursery!!! First time ever I ve finished early & left her there... But I m sat in my garden ; reading, chilling going to have a long soak & nap before Ant collects her at 5!!! Bad mummy ... Keep consoling myself with the fact she's off nursery Thurs with me & Fri with Ant!!!
Enjoying the sunshine xxx

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 22/05/2012 11:26

shandy, yay for you! it's great to hear happy news.

all for those of you thinking about IVF as a possible route, there are new recommendations that it should be made available on the NHS to women over 40. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18143587

Diege · 22/05/2012 09:16

Many congratulations Shandy that's lovely news. Do you have a name yet?
Gum I thought you might not have told but didn't want to sound rude Blush. I would do exactly as you are in your situation. Lots of positive, sticky vibes heading your way Smile As Hippy says, enjoy your secret!
Hi Hippy, fireflies hope all is well.
Fine here; heading off to work in a minute having dropped everyone at school/nursery. Dh is away for 5 days on a course so everything's happening at 100 miles a minute, no time for anything. This is when I could do with family around the corner!
Love to all - hope the weather is as lovely where you are as it is here.

hippychick66 · 22/05/2012 07:30

Many many Congrats to the fabulous Shandy - wow 30 mins!! Hardly time to get your trousers off :)

Enjoy your secret Gum. X

10000fireflies · 22/05/2012 06:03

Congratulation shandy. Lovely news. Thanks

Sticky vibes to gum.

Freaking NICE would increase age for IVF now....

Sorry for short post. Struggling to keep up with you all! Ff x

shandybass · 22/05/2012 05:16

Hi all. Popping in to say my news. We had a baby girl born Saturday morning, 9.days late she came after a second sweep v quickly in 30 mins established labour. She's absolutely amazing worth all the pain and years of ttc 40+.
Good luck to you all en route. Hope this one's a keeper gum, good luck lol almost there, I remember your first post!

hopefulgum · 21/05/2012 23:10

Deige - I'm so pleased that Samuel's scan was all good. It must be a relief to you. I can't believe your babies (Phoebe's too) are eating food.

I haven't broken the news to Dh and am holding off for a while. Mainly because I want to be sure it's actually going to happen (though I don't know if it won't become obvious before 10 weeks as I do get sick in the first trimester). But also, he's working in a promotional position this term, which has given him a whole lot of extra stress. He's tired and hasn't much free time, and I just can't add this stress to him right now, especially as he doesn't consider it "good news". He will really stress over my lost income when we are only just making ends meet now.

It's complicated, but ultimately I think he'll be okay.

Right now I'd like to enjoy my little secret without any negativity.

Diege · 21/05/2012 21:07

Hee hee Hippy I spelt it like that on the birth cards we sent Blush.
Angel I do 4 long days too, with Friday off. It's a bit of a con(in my case) in that it's pretty much full-time hrs but with 20% less pay for me...are you doing compressed hrs? I must say I do love having the Friday at home with the ds's Smile Samuel has also turned a corner with his food -on 3 solid meals a day now and enjoying pretty much everything!

hippychick66 · 21/05/2012 17:57

Sorry Samuel - i spelt your name wrong - oops. X

hippychick66 · 21/05/2012 17:57

Hooray for the good news on Samual's kidney (Hugs from Auntie hippy) Grin

Italiangreyhound · 21/05/2012 17:01

Hugs to all, best luck Lol - look out for that swan!

AngelGeorgie · 21/05/2012 14:51

Diege fabulous news. So glad alls ok with the scan. Phebs eating like mad now!!! How's Samuel? All of a sudden over night decided she wanted to eat!!!
How's work?
I ve just managed to negoiate to do longer days & only work 4 a week... Will be lovely to have that extra day with Phebs.
Hi all xxxx

Diege · 21/05/2012 13:26

Hi! Looking very good Gum Grin. How is dh about it? Echo the 'stop taking your temps' rule - madness that way lies! Getting really excited for you xxx
Hippy Has your af actually started yet or are you still in limbo land re: possible no ovulation this month? Just what you need eh Sad xxx
Angel Phoebs sounds adorable and you sound so happy. How are the solids going?
All fine here. Samuel had his kidney scan this morning and the dilation has 'resolved' so we should be signed off at the next consultant appointment. Very pleased! Was feeling quite anxious waiting in ultrasound (when do I not in that clinic!)
Lucky sounds like it won't be too long for you before ttc-ing again - you have everything to look forward to x
Tina I'd say your dh's snooze-button rage is an adequate reason for feelings of 'tension', without needing to blame pmt! Fingers crossed x
Love to all xxx

TinaO99 · 21/05/2012 10:15

gum all the signs seem good for you, really pleased that line seems darker it shows there's hope for all of us ttc, as others have said it's all about finding that 'good egg' little buggers seem very elusive though lol

lol I can't believe either you're 36 weeks already, wow time has flown bet you're ready to pop it out now though!

I'm starting to feel the unmistakeable signs of pmt coming on - either that or it's just Monday blues but I don't think i caught this month despite lots of swi-ing, my dh said I was really grumpy when I got up this morning - probably because he bashed hell out of the snooze button on the clock and broke the damned thing Grin

hey to everyone else, and chin up Italian hippy twirly

sparklysapphire · 21/05/2012 01:12

gum, congratulations on your BFP. Excellent news, I hoping it stays put for you.

and belated congratulations to clicking as well, I think I just missed that one.

lol, thanks for the info about supplements. I'm just taking boots conception vits at the moment, but will look into the co enzyme Q10. I think I also read somewhere (on here probably) royal jelly may be useful, has anyone tried it? I think though blackcats point that it's mainly down to being lucky enough to catch that one good egg is worth remembering, and there's not a huge amount that you can do. I'm feeling quite positive at the moment as I'm on cd8 so it's still possible this month. And on the plus side, I've realised DH won't be away for SWI week, on the minus side his mum will be staying with us for babysitting purposesHmm.

twirly hope you're doing as ok as you can be at the moment

hi to everyone else

hopefulgum · 20/05/2012 23:25

Lol, they do the swab as a matter of routine in Oz,and I'm so glad they do - I had it with my last birth and it was easily fixed with antibiotics. They gave it to me when I went into labour.I worried about the antibiotics upsetting my LO's gut flora, but he was unscathed.Insist upon it if it helps you feel calm.

I can't believe you're already 36 weeks. Wow! I'm very excited for you and hope you'll give us all the lovely details about the birth and you LO once he is here.

Hippy - sending hugs your way.Sorry your body is being uncooperative. It's hard enough without eggs going AWOL!

Thanks Lucky, I am starting to believe that I'm actually pregnant, but kind of want to not think that so that the next few weeks don't feel like forever and have me feeling anxious. Last time was awful, I was so scared, and in the end miscarried. I can't say all the worrying helped at all, but it's so hard to switch off,and not get hopes up.

I think we need a list of things that will help get one through the first trimester.

Any suggestions? I'll start:

DON'T keep taking your temperature every morning. It will fluctuate and have you convinced it is all over when it is not.
DON'T keep peeing on sticks every morning and comparing the strength of the line. It will vary according to concentrations of hcg in your pee, and you'll be convinced...etc.
DON'T start shopping for anything remotely pregnancy and baby related.
DO attend regular acupuncture sessions to help you be calm and relaxed.

Can you add to it? I'm already feeling a bit jumpy, when I promised myself I wouldn't be, and that there's nothing I can do to change the outcome (except maybe doing hard drugs and drinking a bottle of gin...Grin

hippychick66 · 20/05/2012 22:58

A combination of tiredness and being on my phone has rendered that last post a complete nonsense - hope you get the idea :)
