I dont think your being silly at all Green
It's such an important thing to you having these investigations done and of course it's just routine to them. However it doesn't sound like they had any real empathy for your situation. I know there are lots of negatives about the NHS, but I hope that the majority of staff are sensitive to patients feelings.
There is nothing worse than feeling rushed in medical matters. It always makes me feel like I'm being a pain. And when your paying for it you should definitely feel your being taken seriously. Sorry I'm starting to ramble now. 3 twilight shifts followed by a long day have near killed my brain Grin

GreenOlives · 21/02/2012 22:05

Evening all!

Great scan news Cakes and Loopy Grin They are true brooking babies!

Can't believe your blueberry is 7 weeks already Pops Grin What have you decided about the early scan?

I had my appt at The Miscarriage Clinic yesterday (not much thought went into the name of that place did it?) I was overwhelmingly disappointed Sad Maybe I expected too much but I thought it would be less hurried than the NHS. I was very wrong, I got the distinct impression that time is money and it was a case of taking my history asap and getting me out ready to get the next one in! He was all expensive suit and I just didn't warm to him at all. I think I'm lucky to have an extremely lovely NHS consultant who bends over backwards to do everything he can and explain everything really thoroughly and he just has a really reassuring manner and a very old worn suit Grin At the end of the day I just needed to get the tests done so I guess it doesn't matter whether I liked the guy or not! I really wasn't comfortable with the midwife's role being to take my credit card details either! I guess I felt uncomfortable with the whole private medicine thing, it really didn't feel right but needs must and all that! At least we got the opportunity to go off to the Natural History Museum with DS afterwards and he had a ball! It's all dinosaur talk in our house now!

I've just re-read my ramblings above, it really wasn't a very nice experience at all and it's really upset me Sad Do you think I'm being silly?

CupcakesAndCocktails · 21/02/2012 22:03

Evening Smacketeers,

My you lot have been busy while I've been working Smile

First Cakes and Loopy fantastic news on the scans. Am so glad you got to see your little beans heartbeat Cake

Am loving the blueberry reference, however I now feel unable to eat the blueberry muffin I've been saving all day to eat at home in peace Grin

Sweetie well done on getting the referral sorted. You will be getting your ironic BFP without a doubt.

Far how are you? Im putting all my brooking strength into getting you a BFP this month. Will be thinking of you and MrFar on your due date.

Maybe sorry work has been rubbish. Fingers crossed it can only get better.

Am loving the crazy names! I've got plenty to contribute to this due to my job. I've met a Denim, Ikea, Fox, Queen Elizabeth, Star, Princess. I could go on forever!

I've got a very strange surname and am always agonising over names.

Imps what happened to baby fedex? I thought that would make an awesome name for a boy Wink

According to UCL I'm due AF in 4 days but according to CBFM im 4 dpo. I'm totally confused. My only symptom to date is that I don't have sore boobs for the first time ever post ovulation.

Bean are you due to confirm soon? Wink

TheLittleFriend · 21/02/2012 21:39

generic, I was thinking that maybe I hadn't ov'd, and maybe that's why it's so light. Oh well, hopefully our body's are saving great egg's for this month Smile

GenericDietCola · 21/02/2012 21:26

God those names are priceless! DD has a v unusual name, but I won't reveal it for fear of outing myself. Both me and DH having very common names, we wanted something a bit less common. DH is snorting at La-a!

Loopy and Cakes - so happy re scan news! Well done both of you.

Little my AF a couple of weeks ago was a bit like that - about 7 days of spotting rather than proper flow. I don't think I ov'd between mc and AF, so maybe that's why it was a bit weird. I hope you can get back to rat smacketing soon and get some luck this time.

Dukes fingers crossed you get lucky this month then.

I'm having my last bit of chocolate and glass of wine before I give up during Lent - eek! Hoping to lose some weight, lose this stinking cold and get updiffed - hurrah!

TheLittleFriend · 21/02/2012 21:00

duke, don't think I said hi the other day. I remember you from months ago, sorry to hear you're back here again.

duke748 · 21/02/2012 20:14

Big congratulations to Cakes and Loopy for fab scan news. Grin

Not much to report here. Am 6 DPO and wondering when I'll be able to hold out to for POAS. DP have discussed not trying next month as he will be crazy busy in a new job about November time. Which makes sense, but makes me want it to work this month even more. It feels like waiting for an exam result! I start off thinking I've done OK, then start to doubt myself as times goes by. Grr.

Scarlett I would say you're on a health kick and cutting down as you had loads last night so have had too much this week already. Try that?

TheLittleFriend · 21/02/2012 20:09

Hi everyone

Great scan news from cakes & loopy. Pop, were you wondering about getting a private scan done a few days ago? FWIW, I will definitely do this if when I get pregnant again.

loopy's tip with the tampon sounds good Scarlet

Loving all the crazy name talk.

I finally think af has arrived, but I'm not 100% sure. I've had spotting for a few days, which seemed to have increased a bit this morning, so I started today as day 1 on the CBFM. But now it's calmed off again. I was expecting first af after the mc to be heavy, so I wonder if this is really it. In which case, I've started the CBFM too soon. I'm going to carry on with it, but if I start bleeding properly at any point and realise this was definitely a false alarm, I guess I'll have to reset it.

Anyway, I'm definitely going to be getting on with the Rat Smacketing soon, which is a good thing.

BeedleTheBard · 21/02/2012 19:04

Congrats to loopy and cakes Grin

farfallarocks · 21/02/2012 18:16

Cakes yessssss! I knew your brooking bean would be ok, hooray!

scarlett I would just say I am not up the duff by the way but then I am a bit like that Blush

cakes82 · 21/02/2012 18:11

Hi Everyone
I seemed to have missed so much over last few days.
Had scan today my 7wk blueberry has a little flickering heartbeat so all is well :o Thank you to everyone who remembered.
We've told the close family and they are all really happy for us. Have also told my work bosses, so that my job role can be slightly altered.

Scarlett you could just be honest and say your not feeling 100% and don't want a drink. Its up to them if they want to make assumptions.

Popcorn I think scan is reassuring but on other hand calm positive thinking is good too.

Sorry to anyone i've missed brain not working well enough.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 21/02/2012 17:30

(scarlet, can you not happen to have a couple of tampons in your bag, and carelessly let one drop out as you go to the loo, or "indiscreetly" make sure she sees you take one out of your bag and slip one up your sleeve...should do the trick of her knowing you are not updiffed and are not drinking because you really don't feel like drinking??)

ScarlettInSpace · 21/02/2012 17:16

Grin at daft friend who now must be regretting her randomness.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 21/02/2012 16:48

just a quick pop in, will catch up with recent posts another time as in a rush, but we had our scan this afternoon, DP pleased as just one baby in there! heartbeat fine, and legs were kicking like crazy, but as i suspected, i ovulated late so they now think my due date is the 11th Sept rather than 3rd-5th which is what various medical people told me it would be!! Happy with that as even if it's as early as DS was, it should still be born in September for the new school year Bean was too small for them to get a decent measurement for the nuchal test, so got to go back next Tuesday for another scan.

off out tonight as a belated Valentines (we thought it would be nicer to go out tonight after having the scan today, rather than go out late on Valentines as DP had to work late....but as i didn't want to miss out on pancakes, we had those last night for tea, so we've ripped up the rule book twice in a week lol!)

beangrower · 21/02/2012 16:48

Yes Sweetie it does. (I'm actually from the North West, but ended up in London for my sins.) Typical brothers, eh?

SweetieDoesIt · 21/02/2012 15:42

GrinBlushGrin bean I am not sure if Widgie has the same meaning down South as it does up here in the North? little boys bits??

DH family has this weird thing going on with everyone having their names starting with the same letter. All the older Aunties, Uncles, their kids and now their kids. It is so confusing as an outsider as they are a massive Irish Catholic family. I have told DH we will NOT be continuing the tradition if there were any names left starting in the correct letter but I think he was relieved.

One of my friends added a random "h" to her DD name and then complains that everyone spells it wrong in cards etc, and she can not buy things with the correct spelling!

beangrower · 21/02/2012 15:09

Grin Grin.

My surname - lucky ol' me - rhymes with Queery. My brothers preferred to call me Widgie. Nice.

My friends seem to have gone all economical with their children's names and miss off letters - eg, Albi instead of Albie...

Though I was quite disappointed when someone recently announced the birth of their son Andrew... Surely a little more poetic licence is allowed in the 21st century?

I quite like the name Myrtle. It's such a shame it rhymes with turtle. Booo.

PopcornMouse · 21/02/2012 14:36

:o :o :o Imps I actually laughed out loud at that!

Leviticus is awesome :o

whimsicalname · 21/02/2012 14:27

xpost Imps!

We went through a phase at school (I blame pop ravers Altern-8) for pictoral representations of names. Mine was easy - K8. And poor Sarah, who got an A written in a very square way. Cos she was like square-a.

Imps7 · 21/02/2012 14:25

x-post. Yours is a droopy handlebar Whims!

Naa

Not completely impossible to type then (although I accept that it's not the most realistic depiction of a handlebar moustache I've ever seen)
