So this is my first month of temping. I have charted for a while but just used OPKs and to keep a record of BDing.

I had a positive OPK on Friday but still no OV according to my temps. Can someone take a look and tell me what they think is going on?
Cheers

I have a 35 day cycle as a rule btw.

Thanks homeandaway I was hoping that FF would tell me when I was going to ovulate rather than tell me after the fact, but at least combining this and and an OPK I should get to predict it and confirm it has happened.

After ovulation your temp will rise by around .20 or .25 from the previous 6 temperatures. Also your cm will dry up and after three dry days and an elevated temp you can see that you ovulated. HTH

Hi Pip. Nope not taking anything prescribed but I am taking pre-conception tablets, vitamin b and manuka honey.

Hi pip, it's my first month fo charting too, and I'm also using Fertility Friend.

I too had a big temp rise after ovulation, but it's quite confusing sometimes isn't it, all this temp taking, charting etc.

I'm on my first ever Clomid cycle, are you on any meds to assist conception?

Pipbin · 13/02/2012 10:31

I think so too homeaway.
I just need to wait for fertility friend to put up the cross hairs.

Was just about to say that it looks like you ovulated yesterday :) :)

Looks like you were right wise ladies of mumsnet. Massive thermal shift this morning.

I guess if I OV today then it'll only be 48 hours after the +ive OPK.

Right, knickers off and off to tell the hubby I'm highly fertile!

Yes, I agree. You definitely haven't ovulated yet but all the ewcf is v. promising and I'm sure you will soon. You should certainly consider yourself highly fertile today!

eurochick · 12/02/2012 12:48

I reckon you will probably ov today and see a thermal shift from tomorrow.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 12/02/2012 12:29

My understanding is that you ovulate 12-36 hours after a positive OPK. I agree that you have not yet ovulated but should do soon. With temps you need to see a sustained thermal shift that is higher than your pre-o temps!

It's quite difficult to say at the moment... I don't use OPKs so don't really know how reliable they are, etc, but I have been temping for a short time. Looking at your chart I don't think you've had a temperature shift yet, but I would expect you to have one in the next few days. Particularly if you're still having EWCM then it's likely you haven't ovulated yet, which goes along with the temping (rather than the OPK). Also, if you usually have around 35 day cycles then I would expect you to ovulate somewhere between days 19-25 (ie 10-16 days before your next period). So that would support the fact that you probably haven't ovulated yet, as well.

Like I said, though, I'm not overly familiar with OPKs, but I thought temping was supposed to be the MOST reliable as it tells you that you have ovulated, rather than just that your body is potentially preparing to ovulate.

If you're TTC I would keep going with SWI until you do see a temp rise as it may be the next few days which are most important!

Good luck.
