Trying To Concieve Thread........

Hi Hana,
If you log on to www.fertilityfriend.com and download the handbook, it will give a great overview of charting, CM etc... you get a month free too and it charts it foryou and tells you when you ov etc.... There is a full expert support too 24hrs. It's very infromative. Basically though, there should be a distinct rise after ov, so it won't tell you when to do it, but all the other signs tog give a great overview.
With regrads short luteal phase, I think there was thread on this further down. However I beleive they use Clomid for this. Can you talk to your Doc maybe?? HTHxxxx

I wonder if someone can give me some advice about charting. I have an American book that pretty much explains it all.....took my temp this morning for the first time and will hopefully begin to see a pattern emerging over the next few weeks, months. Is that all there is too it? I know I should also check my cervical fluid as well. And what about supplements? Is taking evening primrose common knowledge in ttc circles? I have been taking a prenatal vitamin thing for years and years it seems (ttc dd - during pregnancy with dd - bfing dd - ttc #2 etc etc etc I should own shares in the company) And last question is about a short luteal phase - I think I have one - anyone else with one? Is it 'fixable'? I'm going to look at some of the sites that others have posted and get a bit more clued up on it all.

Eyelash - Im so sorry you're having such a horrible day and I really really hope it all works out ok for you.

In answer to your question - there were 2 reasons. One was because of previous failed attempts I needed to take very high doses of the drugs to get a very small number of eggs and its not advisable to repeat this often. Another is a more physical thing. Apparently my uterus is at an odd angle (??!!- always nice to know!) and it actually made it very difficult for the hospital to implant the embryos each time.

So all in all the general advice was 'think yourself lucky' (which I do).

Anyway - my fingers are firmly crossed for you.

Many people get spotting at the time they would normally get their first period. Hopefully this is the case for you.

Niknik, I beleive that the m/c rates are the same, possibly a tiny tiny proportion higher as there is a small risk of the embryo not implanting properly as the lining doesn't thicken up as much in some cases. When I looked into clomid though, the only thing that put me off was the less amount of CM, which can be rectified with evening primrose oil/robitussin. I just had a flick through lesley's book. Couldn't see Clomid but will have a look for you in a mo.

Oh eyelash, I'm so sorry. Is this what happend with your previous m/c's?? It doesn't necessarily mean the end as we've seen with so many over the last few weeks. You have a very responsive EPU, which is so good to have on your side. I do hope the time passes quickly this faternoon. Will they take your bloods again afetr a couple of days to compare do you think?? I thought that so early, if you were bleeding for m/c the line would at least be fainter?? I don't know, fingers crossed, I am thinking of you.xxxxx

Pollingfold I was all for taking the Clomid but I got my Why Misscarriages Happen book through today by Prof Reagan, I havent had a chance to have a proper look at it yet but it says that if you ovulate normaly which I think I do Clomid can decrease your fertility ie thick cervical mucus etc, she also says that there is an increased risk of misscarriage in Clomid pregnancies, however, like I say I haven't had chance to read it properly yet so may have got that wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated though

bd, bd, b*d - I cannot believe it. 9am - Went to work and bought Early Response tests which confirmed I am pregnant. As I wiped myself afterwards a bit of blood. Did second test still strong pregnancy line. Rang hospital as I have a referral to Early miscarriage unit (already had 3 miscarriages) who suggested I come in to hospital for a chat and blood test. I was seen quickly and will get results of blood this afternoon around 4pm. I bought some clearblue on the way home which also came up positive.

I am sure I am going to miscarry again as I still passing periody bloody mucus stuff, and although no cramps etc, just think it's inevidable. Only just 4 weeks so very early but I still feel gutted. Have taken afternoon off work and will clean car to take my mind off it all.

I will keep you all updated on the outcome.

I'm really sorry to hear your news, but your in good company around here. Is there a reason that you don't want to take the Clomid? As I understand it Clomid won't harm your chances, in fact it should help. It goes back to the question of starting to try again when you feel you are ready. If you want to carry on naturally go for it, otherwise take the pills that you have.

Hi everyone sad to say that I am back on this thread again after trying for almost two years now. My second pregnancy has ended in a second miscarriage.

I had been under a fertility consultant who prescribed me Clomid, but I had got pregnant on my own (took around 8 months though)therefore didn't take it, my dilemma is should I start taking after my next period, or carry on trying naturally, I don't think they will investigate my miscarriages (both of which happened at about 8 weeks) until I've had three.

I still have an appointment with my consultant at the end of Feb which I haven't cancelled. I have tried to bring this forward but no earlier clinic appointments available.

I'm just confused as what to do. I am 31 and don't want to spend ages trying to get pregnant for it to end in an early miscarriage every time

M2T and dinno - many many congrats, sorry not to have sent my best before but tied up (not literally) with other stuff, and everytime get near computer, DH there wanting to play new game.

Hana, I know how you are feeling re waiting for AF after m/c. My m/c, as you know, was 4 weeks ago but I have been taking my temp each day and I have found that I actually ovulated last week and therefore should have AF next Tuesday. (Although against all advice tried this month with OPK's, so secretley hoping).

Sibble, be paitent, as Quakers rightfully says its early days yet and you don't want to become obsessive like the rest of us.

I feel that I've got to know my body pretty well following months of trying and a mc too. Charting does help but I also get other symptoms like headaches on ov days and feeling like af is coming and then it passes until closer to the time when the symptoms reappear. Hoping this knowledge will allow me to conceive this month!

Sibble, Hiya, this is only your second month, don't worry, you don't need that pressure upon yourself and DH. Have you thought about OPK's, charting?
Hana, I charted for 2 months and I found it an amazing insight into what was going on, however being the obsessor that I am, I drove myself potty with temperatures! My friend has just started though and it has given her a huge insight into her cycle and she is not obsessing, so maybe try and see. Hana - I have been in your shoes exactly. It is a very difficult time and it's even ok to be obsessed a little. If we didn't want to get pregnant so badly then the human race would not survive long. I would recommend charting, or even persona (somebody was giving theirs away on another thread recently). At least you will feel in control and get to know your cycle back to front - can't be a bad thing. I tried charting for a few months and was taking my temperature religiously every morning. DH kept saying I wasn't doing it right but I assured him I was. It was only when I spoke to a nurse friend that I realised I should have been taking my temperature orally and not vaginally!!!!!!!! But I did get pregnant.

Anyway - will probably buy test tomorrow as I am in work and there is a boots close by with limitless tests! DH helpfully pointed out tonight that I have never had a correct prediction but lets see.

actually did a test a few days ago - it's been 6 weeks since last m/c and no signs of a period. Wishful thinking I know and even as I was looking for the test in the bathroom I knew I shouldn't have been wasting the test. Hubby thinks I am obsessed with it all......maybe I am. Am thinking of charting too, but have mixed feelings about that.

Hi all and congrats to everybody this month...have been lying low as feeling very down...AF due tomorrow and know am not prgnant again this month...maybe some of the positive vibes on this net are having trouble travelling through cyber space and to the other side of the world at the same time - only reason I can think of for me still being here and everybody else just passing through.

Hello everyone - Im following all your stories closely and good luck to you all.
I'm v lucky to have had twins via IVF but have been advised not to try again so won't be joining on this thread with any announcements but it's lovely to see you having so much good news this month.
But I HAVE to ask - I realise that AF obviously means your period but what does it stand for - sorry I know its probably really obvious!!!

Anyway good luck to you all - hopefully lots of babies on their way to you all!
