There's cake for scoffing, backs for patting, and screeching death metal for all your METALLING moments. All welcome!

Our last thread reached 1000 posts so i hope you have all found your way here! I have steaming hot Brew chocolate croissants (or as my colleague said 'chocolate pasties'), blueberry muffins, grapefruit segments and hot buttered toast for brekkie!

Settle into the mosh pit, we have special VIP area's for those on the 2WW, the new bumps metalling with segregated areas for the first/second/third trimesters and the club class cocktail bar for those who have just got AF and can get-pissed let loose for the first two weeks!

Hello joyful. Welcome to the thread. I am sorry for your loss and that it is all so recent for you x

crystaltea congratulations! I think a lot of people want to have early scan for reassurance, but there is also some medical significance. According to a pregnancy book I have, by 8 weeks, if a fetal heartbeat is seen on a scan, your risk of miscarriage has fallen to 3%. It drops to 1% at 12 weeks.

I am actually feeling down, which seems ridiculous given my news today. My DH has upset me, he barely mentioned the result this morning, and when I brought it up he just said, I am pleased but we have had too many false hopes for me to excited.

This pregnancy feels like my DD's, not my 2 mc, but it seems I am the only one who feels hope. I rang mw to ask advice about what I can do about my sore throat, and after answering my question she advised me to ring back in a few weeks, and contact gp. I guess I am just exhausted from flu. I have not had a proper night's sleep for over a week.

pebspop · 29/02/2012 10:22

crystal they say once you have seen a heartbeat at any stage the chances of mc fall dramatically. a lot of the mc's up to 12 weeks actually happen in the early days but our bodies don't realise until later on. many people with mmc's at the twelve week scan find the baby measures very small so it happened weeks previously and they didn't know. basically if you see the heartbeat at 7/8 weeks you are in with a very good chance of it working out.

my mc's happened because i got blood clots in my placenta which killed the baby later on so no amount of early scans reassure me. 12 week scan doesn't offer me a 'safe' feeling either :(.

congrats to all the BFPS!! we have had loads this month!

i am still spotting. got a stringy brown bit last night when i wee'd so i am mentalling now. i can barely concentrate at work but i have got things to do so need to get on with them. only two days until the scan. i knwo everything could be ok but i feel like i am planning for everything having gone wrong and needing to go in hospital for an erpc next week. why can't anything be simple??

FrozenNorthPole · 29/02/2012 10:16

Sorry, I mean I hope the surgery WENT as well as it could, Tas. Good grief, my brain's all over the place! Another scan tomorrow - if it still shows a heartbeat I will have reached 11 weeks. Another week before I'm past the point of my latest miscarriage.

FrozenNorthPole · 29/02/2012 10:15

Sneaking on here from work to say congratulations and sticky wishes for the BFPs. Tas, I hope the surgery goes as well as it can. Hoping that the rash of BFPs is catching for all in the TWW. I would like to stick around here and hope to work out how to make mumsnet look less obvious from my work PC this afternoon as it means I can come back for personals Grin - I work in an open plan office so everyone and his dog can see what I'm doing all the bloody time Angry.

Mmmmm, cake ... am troughing ginger biscuits to try to keep the nausea at bay but ginger cake might work even better Brew

JoyfulJoyful · 29/02/2012 09:31

Hello lovely ladies
May I please join you? I have been lurking and have read all your 1000+ posts from the previous thread and this one.
I MC on the 22nd of Feb at what should have been 8+2 weeks but sadly baby died at 6 weeks.
I was given the medical managaement option so I'm still bleeding.
TMI ALERT - Passed the foetus last week Weds which was the worst experience of my life.
I am desperate to be pregnant again but unfortunately my DH works in another country so we don't see regularly. Won't be seeing him till Easter :-( but looking forward to SWI and DTD and everything related to getting me pregnant.
I have been reading about Vits B and I am willing to take almost anything that will help my eggs. Before the MC, I took Folic Acid, Vit E and Zinc religiously.
I have got those Pregnacare conception tabs but not sure when to begin taking them.
I am really hoping and praying my bleeding would have stopped and my period returned byt he time i see DH in April, God willing.
A big fat CONGRATULATIONS to all who have BFPs and IQ who's almost there and to those waiting, it will happen.
I do pray to get a BFP too as it seems to be contagious on this thread.

crystaltea36 · 29/02/2012 09:12

Hi all I've been on and off here since I mc New Year's Eve.. Well I got a BFP on Sunday and am trying to pretend it's not real because am majorly panicking! I mc at 6 weeks last time which is still 1 1/2 weeks away yet but am trying to just be really positive! Some people on here mentioned having a private scan at 7 weeks, if I got that far, is there any reason for this, as I thought you weren't moderately safe until 12 weeks? AGGGGHHHH! Sorry panicking!

NoMoreMarbles · 29/02/2012 09:07

jaffa!!!! Grin congrats!!! Grin

leedy any news?

all Af symptoms have disappeared nowHmm maybe im having another WTF cycle...

whatsoever · 29/02/2012 09:06

jaffa massive congrats Grin

tits (I feel a bit rude typing that, what a child I am!) I drank when TTC - in fact I had a big night on the booze three nights before I found out I was pregnant. I found TTC stressful enough as it was, without cutting out anything that lessened that stress. I think it very much depends on your lifestyle though. My social life with my DH, family and friends involves social drinking and I would have very much ostracised myself by not drinking at all, and definitely been unhappier.

In my last pregnancy I drank moderately (a glass of wine or a pint of shandy) but as that didn't go so well I'm drinking nothing for 12 weeks and then I'll see how I feel if I get that far. May I add there was absolutely nothing to suggest that those odd glasses of wine were the cause of the MMC but at least I could rule that out if it ever happened again.

To be honest, I haven't fancied a drink at all this time but I might fancy the odd glass of wine later, who knows?

farfallarocks · 29/02/2012 08:59

Yay jaffa that is wonderful news!!

tis I definitely drank whilst TTC, I agree moderation is the key.

I have stopped taking prenatal vits as I am convinced they were giving me cramps. Since stopping them no more cramps, just taking folic acid, do you think this is ok girls?

WhyAlwaysBoris · 29/02/2012 08:28

Tiago and Jaffa...many congratulations. :) :) :)

BlueCrane · 29/02/2012 07:56

Yeah Grin jaffa fab news!!

bonzo I think pregnacare does have iron in it, I had to stop taking it as it seemed to make my morning sickness worse and was making me constipated, gave my stash away to a friending the end and haven't taken any bits since I stopped taking the folic acid at 12wks.

taz thinking of you and hope you're doing ok after everything yesterday.

leedy any news at your end this morning...how's the temps? Have you poas? Hope you get some answers soon -all v frustrating for you!

Suddenly sees the time and realises I must dash off for a shower, though my tum is making all sorts of strange gurgling sounds after breakfast so not sure the rushing thing is a good idea...really don't want the queasiness returning!

Poppyjen · 29/02/2012 07:48

Grin Jaffa hooray!

Sorry to have been so awol, things are all fine here with me and "Poppyseed" (thanks Manda love that name!) I am 13+3 today so just about 2nd trimester I think and the sickness has lessened (although the tiredness hasn't!) I am starting to feel a lot more positive, and I feel a lot better for it.

We started interviewing birth doulas yesterday, its early days I know but they get booked up so early round here and August/September is a nightmare with holidays etc. Really feeling good about it now though - we want a VBAC in water with no continuous monitoring so we will have to fight for it and I think I doula will be very useful. Wish I had thought of it first time around!

Anyway, sorry not to name check - so sorry to hear of bad news for some of you, it is absolutely heartbreaking. Even though I haven't been posting much I have been reading and thinking of you all.

Big congratulations too to the recent BFPs! Welcome to the moshpit!

JaffaSnaffle · 29/02/2012 07:40

Fmu = BFP! I am pregnant again!

Tiago · 28/02/2012 22:21

bonzo I think the Pregnacare does have iron in it I'm afraid. Maybe there is a vitamin poll that is multi vitamin but excludes iron available though? O'd assume that if you can get enough vitamins generally, it does not need to be Pregnacare.

Tiago · 28/02/2012 22:18

As I understand it though - there's no evidence that moderate adrinking while PG is actually a problem for the baby. It's when people start necking fifteen shots a day that there is an issue. Would you be able to just have a glass or too - or will that stnd out too much?

Tiago · 28/02/2012 22:16

I don't drink at all tits though sometimes I really want to. But that's because I had managed to convince myself that my one cider is what caused my first MC - which is not a position based in anything resembling reason.

bonzo77 · 28/02/2012 21:55

tiago [squuuuueeeeeeeeal emoticon]! Does the pregnacare have iron in it? I can't take any iron as even a tiny amount gives me constipation, and I have a recurrent anal fissure which comes back if I get constipated, and the medication for it is not safe in pg. I didn't take the iron following my CS when I lost quite a lot of blood, so great is my poo fear.

tits, now I eat / drink as if pregnant during 2WW, but do WTF I want the rest of my cycle. That's actually pretty daft because with DS I didn't know I was pg until about 6 weeks or maybe a bit more, and was drinking and smoking lots (stopped when I found out). He's fine! I think that until about 6 weeks (or is it 9?) the embryo gets what it needs from the yolk sac, and is only in contact with your blood stream, and therefore what you eat/ drink once the placenta beds in after this. So alcohol and smoking less dangerous than a bout of food poisoning. Not sure if that's correct, but that's my reasoning.

Not sure what's happening here. CBFM flashing "m" for a few days. FF says AF due today but no sign, yet. No PMS signs but no pg signs either. FF says to wait 18 DPO before testing, which would be on DS's birthday next Wednesday.

JaffaSnaffle · 28/02/2012 19:43

tits , I have always taken a compromising view, so might have one glass of wine or one coffee, but that's it, just in case.

I am going to wait until fmu tomorrow and then test with a good test.

NoMoreMarbles · 28/02/2012 18:52

tits i do as if i didnt i would have been teetotal for 4.5 years...i only have a few every now and again (not a big drinker hence when i have a shandy i am pissed as a fart haha) IMO unless you are doing something seriously detrimental to your health (drinking 80% proof or taking hard drugs etc) moderation is the keySmile

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/02/2012 18:34

May I ask, do any of you drink when ttc?
I have been invited to have a girly evening with one of my besties on Friday, this would normally involve wine and lots of it.
I can try to test before I go but it will still be 6 days till af is due so either way it's not really going to show anything is it?
Do I just go and drink and be merry, or go and make some excuse? She doesn't know we're ttc.

Tiago · 28/02/2012 18:21

Pie that's what I was thinking - that Sod's law would hopefully come into play. I have now cancelled the private appointment that we had arranged to see the consultant.

Pebs I stared taking the Pregnacare conception vitamins a month and a half ago (and DH started the male version), so that may have helped. Also, we 'carried on' a while after the OPK positive - which I think was the main point.

IQ - beautiful flowers, thank you. DH is taking it very well (though is still trying to calm me down). I was going to wait to tell him tonight when I got home, but couldn't resist the lure of the telephone (or the ablity to send a picture of he test to him) Grin.

If all goes well (which I know is a big, big, if), and I take the average ofthe various due date calculators that I have tried, then it will be a Bonfire Night baby.

pebspop · 28/02/2012 18:14

congrats tiago!! hope you don't need to join me in the mosh pit!

i am still spotting but not really worrying about it. what can i do?? if it's gone wrong nothing can change it and if it hasn't i will have to just get used to this spotting. i have had it since cd23 so over three weeks now.

i will probably start the moshing on thursday night, although i am going out for a meal with some girlfriends so that will keep my mind off the scan.

PieMistress · 28/02/2012 16:16

Ditto IQ's squealing on tiago's BFP :) :) :) That is amazing! And right after your open session at the IVF clinic! That must have prompted your body into action! Were you doing anything differently this month (vits, asprin etc)?

I am so happy for you! Whoop diddy whoop whoop!!

InsomniaQueen · 28/02/2012 15:38

tas thinking of you today and sending you lots of hugs and kind thoughts from here!! Xxx

marbles well done on the new job - very exciting!!! As for slapping you, I can't quite bring myself to it but I'm sure Martha will be along soon and she is very good at that sort of thing. She was very encouraging forceful when I wasn't sure whether to re-test after getting a BFP with IC's.

Jaffa I'm on pins and needles here - I used IC's and the line with those are faint - fully agree with blue about going down the CB Digi route, that way you get a clear yes or no. Not that, that prevents metalling but it will tell you either way.

frozen brilliant scan news.....hope it all continues positively for you and remember to up date us how you get on even if you do move to another thread!!!

whatso Glad you dont have to make that trip regularly, feeling faint is very disconcerting in pg because you worry about falling and being helpless.

leedy not really sure what to say about those temps but will wait to hear from you tomorrow with everything crossed for you.

blue gramps is feeling much better thanks, he is managing to leave the house which is a huge step forward although his weight hasn't improved very much. As for reaching term it actually feels the best part of this whole pregnancy. I spent weeks in agony with back, hips, PGP and then the threat of a ruptured hernia and ending up with no baby at all - I'm feeling quite serene about it all now. Everyone has been telling me how much these days would drag and how much I will be fed up and want her out but I really dont. I suppose they don't really know how blessed I feel right now - knowing that if she comes now she will be fine makes me feel like I'm walking on air!!!! Even though I'm heavier, it's harder to get around, I'm in more pain and sleeping less I know that in under 5 weeks (if all goes to plan) I will be carrying a baby home - knowing how stressful this process has been and knowing how much all of you have suffered to get BFPs makes me just think that I'm lucky and this is a very beautiful time in my life and I can finally enjoy it all. The days are whizzing by and I'm loving it to be honest, lots of naps and sky+ have helped me fill me fill my days!! Wink

AND a huge bunch of Thanks to tiago OMFG......I saw your post and squealed so loudly I woke the dog.....he is currently giving me the evil eye but I don't care Grin Grin Grin!!!! How is your OH taking it??

Now I must get back on my gym ball as my back is killing me and being sat on the sofa like a big lump is not helping me at all!!

Love to all xxx
