Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

Razz, hurray for baby Samuel! How sweet and tiny! Thanks for you. The CS pain will pass surprisingly quickly. It's a week today for me and it doesn't hurt. I still feel a bit bruised but not enough to take painkillers for.

Shakey, thinking of you and Grace for tomorrow. I'm so glad you have Rose. Cuddle her tight and it will help a bit.

Fan, hope that Cheese turns out to be a prophetess!

Haven't given Mother's Day much thought yet, apart from to wonder vaguely what to do for my mum. It's also our 5th wedding anniversary on the 18th and neither of us has bought a present for the other, or not yet, anyway. 5 years is wood, according to Wikipedia. Maybe we could buy a little tree for Thea. to everyone struggling with Mother's Day.

shakeyjake · 16/03/2012 23:08

Yay razz congratulations so happy for you. Samuel is a lovely name and so glad he is doing ok.

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 16/03/2012 23:03

razz absolutely delighted to hear your news of the safe arrival of Samuel! Totally understand that you don't want to sleep and just sit there cuddling your beautiful boy.

fan glad to hear that you are feeling better. You are doing lots of positive things for yourself, and with a bit of DH spoiling too, it all sounds very good! Here's to that BFP that cheese was dreaming about...

shakey wishing you a peaceful day tomorrow as we all remember Grace.

blizy · 16/03/2012 23:00

Razz huge congratulations! Welcome little Samuel! Glad to hear you are both well.
ThanksGrinGrin

fanjodisfunction · 16/03/2012 22:54

razz congratulations! Welcome to the world Samuel. Enjoy your cuddles.

razzdazz · 16/03/2012 22:20

My baby boy is finally here!! Samuel was born at 0934 this morning weighing in at 5lb15 and of course is totally gorgeous. Did have to spend a few hours in SCBU with his breathing but is back with me now. Has a cannula in bless him for antibiotics. I am up and about now though obviously very sore. Can't stop staring at him, there is no way I will be able to sleep. Am just so totally delighted, smitten in fact. Thank you so much for your thoughts xx

fanjodisfunction · 16/03/2012 20:44

cheese really! how strange, hope its a good omen. I am on CD6 at the moment and still bleeding, hoping it goes by tomorrow otherwise will have to crack open the stop the af drugs! I am feeling better, DH has been amazing, paid for me to have my hair cut today, and took me out for lunch! Ive just been playing with the rat babies, so Im in a good mood tonight.

CheeseandGherkins · 16/03/2012 20:33

TOo Ella also lost more than 10%, I think she lost 13% and went down to 5lbs 1oz but did regain a few ounces. She was allowed home before she regained her birth weight so it wasn't a huge issue. Yep she's 40 weeks tomorrow :o Sounds like Maia is feeding well, it's totally normal to feed often when they're so little :)

razz I hope you have your lovely baby now :)

whatever the dress you bought sounds like a good step :) What's it like?

fan I dreamt that you were pregnant last night, I can't remember much about the dream, just that you were. Hope you're feeling a little better today xx

shakey if you think she's not latched properly, do de-latch her and try again, it'll save any pain and she won't feed properly otherwise so may get frustrated and feed longer etc.

Angel funny how time passes, I remember when you'd just given birth and now you're nearly weaning!

spilt sounds lovely :) I had visions of watching box sets during night feeds but I end up browsing on my phone and playing words with friends etc at the moment! I am always starving though so am tempted to do the same regarding snacks. Drinking loads of water too

I've not thought much about mother's day. My two boys are with their father this weekend (dd1 doesn't see much of him and never stays) so it'll be a bit odd on the morning. Have to be up early too so, not much lying in either. I want to see Scarlett and take her some flowers too, it'll certainly be an odd day. Ella weighs almost exactly what Scarlett did at the moment too :(

blizy · 16/03/2012 20:17

Shakey- I will be thinking of you and grace tomorrow. I hope you have a peaceful day. X

fanjodisfunction · 16/03/2012 20:15

((((((((hugs)))))))))) to everyone, I havnt been in the card shops yet, I think I might make my mum a card, but we shall see if I have time. Im trying to keep busy, going to hte pub tomorrow to watch the rugby with the lads! And then sunday I will take out my mum to the cinema and try nto enjoy my mum and keep it at that, not sure how hard its going to be.

The candle will be out again for Grace tomorrow shakey I hope the day is gentle for you, and I hope the snuggles from Rose will help you through the day.

shakeyjake · 16/03/2012 19:28

razz hope you are ok and getting snuggly with your baby.

We are going to the baby garden tom at the crem where we had the service for grace, cannot believe that a whole year has passed already.

Big hugs for everyone and will be thinking of you all and our angels on Sunday xxx

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 16/03/2012 19:28

Big hugs to all the wonderful people here, and a few deep breaths. We can do this together. As someone said - we have already been through the worst. We are mummies to the most beautiful, loved children in the world, even if that world feels like it is upside down...

blizy · 16/03/2012 19:11

We must have seen the same card! I know it is so wrong but I'm sure our baby girls
Will be with us on sunday. X

Whatevertheweather · 16/03/2012 18:31

Yep Clintons got me too Blizy saw a card to mummy from your little angel and I just couldn't stop the tears. Went to the florist to pick out some nice flowers to take to Erin's garden on Sunday and realised it was all the wrong way round Sad Big hugs Blizy and everyone xxxxx

Oh whatever- must be something in the air a I am the same today. I had a good old sob in clintons, it was so hard choosing mothers day cards for my mum and mil. Hope you are ok? X

I hope the rest of you are all coping with mothers day coming up. It really is a hard one isn't it?

Whatevertheweather · 16/03/2012 18:22

Checking in for news on Razz hope you are having lovely snuggles xxx

Big snotty mess today - mothers day has really hit me, thought I was doing okay but really not. Giving in to it tonight and wallowing. Miss my little girl so unbearably.

just checking in to see if any news on razz. I hope you are having lots of snuggles with your little one.

vicky must be very exciting, a very good weight too. Cant wait to hear your news.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 16/03/2012 17:43

Any news from Razz yet?

Spilt, yes, I'm trying those things - that's what the community MW told me to do, and they seem to be working, so FX for tomorrow's weigh-in!

Miasmummy, I have managed to let Maia eat my right nipple raw by poor latching, so am slathering it in Lansinoh after every feed. The MW said if it hurts, to count to 10 and see if the pain goes away, and if it doesn't, take her off immediately.

Shakey, that sounds exactly like me the night before last! Last night was much better with longer feeds and sleeps. Maybe you should try following the advice Spilt gives about getting her to feed for longer intervals. In addition, the MW advised me to take a few layers of clothes off her and even wipe her face with a cold sponge if she keeps falling asleep after only a few minutes of feeding - anything to get her to take in a lot in one go. It's hard to keep insisting that she feeds in the middle of the night, though - if she's dropped off, I want to climb back into bed and sleep too, but my brain goes no, wake her up and try again or she'll be up again in no time!
