Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

Ellypoo · 20/03/2012 22:40

Oops - congrats AngelGeorgie on your weight loss too! I took so long to write my post that I didn't see yours until after!
I have lost 7lb so far (weigh in tomorrow night), so am now only 3 1/2 stone heavier than I was when I got pg with Nancy!!

Ellypoo · 20/03/2012 22:37

fan - well done on your weight loss, that's a great achievement, and a very positive way to think. I have started at weightwatchers because I can't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes - I was 4 stone lighter when I got pregnant last time, so I'm hoping that losing some weight will only help. We named her Constance, but shortened it to Nancy after DH's Gran.

I am so sorry to hear all of your stories, I was shocked to realise just how many people have been through similar experiences - I had no idea before we lost Nancy.

F&Tx that all of us who are ttc our rainbow babies succeed very soon, and that everyone who is currently pg have gentle journeys.

ps. I'm probably being thick, but what does AF & BFP stand for?

AngelGeorgie · 20/03/2012 22:28

Oh Dachs is fine. Finished work now. X

AngelGeorgie · 20/03/2012 22:27

Well done Fan GrinGrin I lost another 2 lbs last night. Very pleased with that as was at my parents last wed to Sunday , ate out twice, cakes on Saturday & a chinese buffet on Sunday!!! Though I was good the rest of the time. Going for another 2 lb next week for my half a stone. Makes you feel so much better doesn t it?
I m so knackered Phebs has been so demanding & grizzly today. I m off shopping for weaning foods tomorrow, Ant's going to get her high chair from the loft & we re good to go.
Hope it's that making her grizzly & nothing else. Only other thing I can think of is teething. Sad
Night all xxx

fanjodisfunction · 20/03/2012 20:18

Has anyone heard from mel, dachs or august? Really hope you are all well ladies.

fanjodisfunction · 20/03/2012 19:43

wtw Im ok, just a bit annoyed that people feel and think that way. blizy you are so right it is very unthoughful of people to say that to us.

ellypoo what a lot of reading! and this thread is nearly over. There is another couple in the archive probably. Can I ask what your daughter is called?

Ive just got back from slimming world, 4 1/2 pounds lighter and slimmer of the week, so lots of free food was brought home with me! Well made up with that. Everytime I think about unhealthy food I think I will not get pg eating that, and its really helped me this week. I need to lose weight to improve my chances and that is my goal!

Whatevertheweather · 20/03/2012 18:28

Welcome Ellypoo so sorry to hear about your dd. Sorry you've had to find yourself here but the ladies are so fabulous and supportive and we all keep each other going. We lost our dd Erin at 35 weeks on 25/08/11. She was born by emcs but died shortly after she was born. Post mortem found she had fetal cancer which is incredibly rare. We are also lucky enough to have a gorgeous 5 yr old dd and I am now 16 weeks pregnant again and hoping against hope we get to bring this baby home. Good luck with the ttc it is an emotional time xx

How you feeling now Fan?

Can't wait for my mw appt on Thursday - am really hoping I can hear the heartbeat! Wishing this week away (and the next 20.....!)

Thanks ladies - I have just spent the last 3 1/2 hours reading this thread, and still have only got up to about page 27! Blizy - thanks for pointing me in this direction!!

I have shed a lot of tears this afternoon reading your stories, and I feel like I have got to know you a bit (I hope that doesn't sound too corny)!

I'm very fortunate that I have met a lovely lady who lives close to me, through one of my 'mummy' friends (who lost twin girls herself 4 years ago and has just had a beautiful boy) who lost her little boy last year - she is now heavily pregnant again, and it is nice to have someone to talk to who knows what it is like, but also that there can be hope afterwards too.

Fx that good things happen soon - I hate that we are all here, but it's really good to have people to talk to that understand.

xxx

Fan hope you feel a little better. Xx

fanjodisfunction · 20/03/2012 15:57

ellypoo welcome to the thread and so sorry to hear abour your baby girl. My daughter Ophelia was stillborn at 36 weeks due to a knot in her cord. We are on our tenth cycle now, we also had a chemical pregnancy last july.
I hope you find support on this thread like I have we have been through a similar ordeal and just wish to be mothers to our babies.

blizy · 20/03/2012 15:40

Hi elypoo, I'm glad you found your way here. I lost my baby girl, in feb last year. She was stillborn at 41 weeks due to placental deficiency. I am now on my 10th cycle of ttc, it's a big shock as i fell pg with Zoe in our first try.

I hope you get that bfp soon.

Ellypoo · 20/03/2012 14:53

Hi, I'm new here, I hope you don't mind me posting?
I lost my baby girl at New Year - she was 2 days old, born by EMCS at 37 + 4. Apparently there were blood clots in the placenta, which meant that she was tiny, and they had also caused starvation of oxygen which lead to all of her little organs failing.

I am just getting by day to day at the moment, starting to go back to work a bit and seeing my ante-natal friends with their babies etc - it's really hard, but I can't hide away for the rest of my life.

My consultant has said that there is no reason not to conceive again, I do need to take a daily low-dose aspirin though, just in case.

Basically, I really want/need to conceive again really, I need to be a proper Mummy - it is really nice to read that some of you have had rainbow babies. I know that a pregnancy following the loss of an angel must be so hard, but it must be really worth it when you finally have your babies in your arms.

blizy · 20/03/2012 09:32

Pressed post too soon,

Whatever that is so true, I don't mind so much when close friends have asked but when it's the nosey randomers, that makes me Angry.

blizy · 20/03/2012 09:30

Fan - don't let the buggers get you down. The bfp will happen for us both, it may take time but i do believe it will happen. Let's hope it is soon. X

Whatevertheweather · 20/03/2012 09:25

Oh Fan so not what you need Sad

I saw a great quote about trying again after losing a baby 'you wouldn't ask someone who had lost their husband or wife if they were going to re-marry straight away. So why is okay to ask someone who has lost their child if they are going to have another one'. We were asked so many times even in the few weeks after Erin died, it never really occurred to me at the time but it's actually incredibly rude.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with that on top of everything else Fan it's not easy xx

Sorry to put a downer on things but I really hate people asking me if I'm ok about three times when I meet them and also they always look at my belly, thanks for the added stress and pressure people.

AngelGeorgie · 20/03/2012 08:40

Congrats Vicki x
