Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

THanks for the heads up wtw, I've just watched Sarah's video with tingles down my spine as every word she says I could say. As angel says, very glad they are addressing this but also glad for the warning.

blue bye my dear, will miss you, see you soon and good luck for the ttc!

AngelGeorgie · 21/02/2012 08:40

Just re- read my post Scottie was our cat!!!! ( I hadn t said!!)

AngelGeorgie · 21/02/2012 08:25

Whatever my DH never had counselling & he bottled it all up became quite depressed. A few nights out , more time at the gym & seemed ok. However, I don t think he has grieved for Georgie as when Scottie was put to sleep ( in June , had taken anti-freeze, was only 12& we had had him since he was 2 months old) he was so terribly distraught & I think everything started to hit him then.
He still hadn t fully grieved for his dad who died 15 years ago I fear it ll all hit him at some point.
Men are different aren t they? Which is what I had to learn & let it go instead of trying to get him to talk about Georgie all the time. He will mention her now though so that's good.
I had seen the link re : OBEM so glad they're addressing the topic., people need educating. Life Ian t that simple if seeing those blue lines then 9 months later a baby is here. Wish they had of veered 10 miles up the road & asked me I'd have told them!!!!
At least this mum will have genuine worries & complaints instead of all the triva & crap that's normally on there. I can only watch this series because of Phebs I didn t watch it last year.
Blue take care xxx
Whatever not long to your scan xx
Love to all xxx

Aargh just re-read - to be clear this is her subsequent pregnancy they don't show the stillbirth. I am presuming this is the safe delivery of her rainbow baby.

Right I really will go now BlushBlush

Sorry to barge in, but I just wanted to say congratulations to CheeseandGherkins I was so thrilled to learn of Ella's birth and wanted to send my love to you and your family. Hope everything's going well x

Whatevertheweather · 20/02/2012 20:52

Also meant to say - just a gentle heads up if anyone watches One Born Every Minute this weeks episode features a mother giving birth after her son was stillborn at 22 weeks. There is a video of her talking about her son here (links to obem website). It's very moving. A kind friend just 'alerted' me to it. I haven't watched any of this series though I just can't.

Sorry won't hijack thread anymore tonight Blush

Next Thursday Angel am counting down the days Smile Weirdly 1st March 5 years ago was the day I went in to be induced with K. It's her birthday on the 3rd and despite my initial thoughts on waiting until 20+ weeks to tell her I'm now wondering whether to tell her if all is well at the scan. On one hand I want to shield her from it 'just in case' but on the other I know she will be so thrilled and it seems mean to keep it from her when she'll be so happy.

Dp is struggling a lot at the moment. He has been very very moody and shouty for about a week now and this morning he woke up late for work and started stomping round the house in a foul mood then burst in to tears just as he was leaving. He was distraught, he just kept saying he's not coping with what happened to Erin and he's feeling very angry about it. I just gave him a huge hug and told him to call in sick. We sat and had a long chat about Erin but this pg still wasn't mentioned. I'm at a loss how to help him, he refuses to try bereavement counselling. It's so hard seeing someone you love in that much pain. I think it did him some good though and he seems less tense tonight than he has for a long time. I tell him all the time I will listen if he wants to talk about anything but instead he seems to bottle it up and then explodes like a pressure cooker.

Razz good luck for tomorrow.know exactly how you feel but you re within touching distance the end is in sight but I know it's horrible. Hold on in there xx
Whatever Ant started a " tempary" job last week . He's enjoying it but not sure how long it's going to last. When he first started we were led to believe it was for 10 months now however, it's been advertised for the same period & he ll have to apply for it!!! He's got another interview tomorrow with our local council. The pay is slightly less but location excellant 2 mins from my work &5 mins from Pheb's nursery so ...ConfusedConfused we ll see. Would just like some stability now. Thanks for asking. Is your scan soon? Xxx as with regards to pg signs & symptoms I very rarely have any , very little sickness. Take care xxx

fanjodisfunction · 20/02/2012 19:23

So good to hear about Ella cheese, so glad she is home and doing so well. Cant wait to see some piccies.

wtw yuck on the sickness, its horrid isnt it. my DH used to say it was all in my head, god I wanted to kick him when he used to say it. Thats the best way to take it too, that you are adjusting to being pregnant and the sicker you the more pregnant you are, must be nice though really that you are having strong symptoms, before you can feel baby. Must make you feel really pg.

Im doing ok, pretty happy really, I do have a little nag in the back on my brain about going back on the tools. That means when I do fall pg then I have to tell work again, I cant not tell them and I was hoping to keep it a secret for a while. So my mind has started to think what if I am pg and then have a miscarriage early one or a miscarriage at all, then I will have to go through it all again telling them I am pg and then having to tell them Im not. So unfair. And so annoyed that Im thinking baout this and Im not even pg.

Whatevertheweather · 20/02/2012 17:41

Razz I know it must be hard not to freak out but focus on the positive your mw sounds on top of it, it has been noticed and they are following it up, you have a scan tomorrow where you will see your baby healthy and happy and get an estimate on size, you are nearly 32 weeks already. You are doing so so well. Big hugs, the end really must be the hardest xxx

razzdazz · 20/02/2012 17:36

Thanks everyone for the reassurance.......stupidly googled and worried myself sick!! I have a scan booked for 11am tomorrow.
Really glad Ella is home and doing well cheese. I also have a consultant appt on thursday and my mw has sent him a essage to ask if she should repeat the GTT or do a fasting glucose??
I am trying to make myself be brave but am feeling really scared and on the verge of a freak out Sad

Whatevertheweather · 20/02/2012 17:11

Cheese lovely update. So good to hear Ella is doing so well at home.

Razz bump measurements are notoriously inaccurate. With K my bump was only measuring about 35 weeks at 39 weeks so they sent me for a growth scan as they were concerned she was going to be small. She was born a week later at 8lbs 10ozs! Do you have another scan booked?

How you doing Fan?

Angel has Ant started his new job yet?

Bleurgh still being very very sick, thought it was abating but it's back with a vengeance today. Still I'm taking it to mean bean must be okay in there and there's still lots of hormones being produced. 12 weeks on Wednesday!

OP posts:
AngelGeorgie · 20/02/2012 16:34

Razz all through Pheb's pg I was measuring at least 3-4 weeks ahead. All was fine my GTT was nad and I occasionally had glucose in my urine and you remember how big Phebs was!!! (10 lb,0;5 oz!!) +++ big placenta + lots of fluid!!!
Cheese glad you re home & all is well xx
Love to all xxx
Horrible countdown to returning to work only 7 weeks left!!! However, not going to focus on it as still 7 weeks left with my darling girl & a load of plans before then.

fanjodisfunction · 20/02/2012 15:08

razz when I was 28 weeks I was measuring 34 weeks so they sent me for a growth scan and everything was fine I just think now that that was when Fi turned and she was just pushing out more. But its nothing toworry about its if the next measurment or scan shows something then they might do something. The measurement thing isn't very accurate really.

Will catch up when I get in.

Hugs to blizy and blue take it gently today.

CheeseandGherkins · 20/02/2012 14:53

We came home on Thursday afternoon with Ella and she's been doing really well since then! Feeding lots, waking properly for feeds and has put on another ounce taking her to 5 pounds 5 after she lost some weight in hospital.. Taking her to see the midwife and be weighed then discharged tomorrow, fingers crossed for more weight on! Dd1's birthday on Sunday, she'll be 10, so we need to get out and sort her presents out and a cake.

I'm very tired and still adjusting to having her home but we are getting there slowly :) She was awake from about 4.30 last night feeding and not settling for about 4 hours but it's all good.

Too I still cannot believe that she's here and ok, I was utterly convinced that something would happen again and that everyone else would have their babies and be fine but I wouldn't. I guess it's normal to feel that way. I'm really looking forward to seeing you and the others having their babies soon as I'm sure you all will.

razz could you have gestational diabetes? That is one reason for measuring large and also having extra fluid. The glucose in a morning sample would concern me. I had GD which is why I was induced early as it became unstable but turned out alright this time thank god.

blizy (hugs) xxx

blue (hugs) also xxx

fan fingers crossed for this month for you xx

Right, I'm going to try and get some photos onto the laptop to upload on here, hopefully won't take me long!

blizy · 20/02/2012 14:23

razz A woman on my antenatal thread had this, she was measuring way ahead of her dates think she was measuring 43 weeks at 38! Anyway she had a healthy 6 pounder, she was carrying loads of fluid.
Hope you are ok?

Oh and congrats to your bf.

razzdazz · 20/02/2012 14:08

Thinking of you blue and blizy xx

I have just had midwife appt, glucose again despite it being a before breakfast sample and my bump is measuring at 36 weeks (I am 31.4). Now waiting for appt for growth scan though the feeling is that it is more to do with my fluid level than size of baby...........always something to worry about. Have any of you ladies experienced this?

Good news is that my bf had a perfect little boy weighing 5lb9, he is lovely.
