Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

I think you should sit on the sofa with your feet up, watching movies to pass the time and lose yourself a bit, also you can pack you bag from there and dh he can do the washing pile! lol. I loved packing my hospital bg, picking the clothes for me and baby, and the other little bits I needed. Im a freak who likes to pack!

Only 6 days left for me now! Grin Confused Shock Am a bit scared of jinxing everything. DH and I are having a very quiet weekend trying not to freak out. I need to pack my hospital bag and try to get on top of the washing pile...I'm trying not to think too much.

ciwi · 02/03/2012 05:25

Morning everyone,
My beautiful rainbow arrived at 3.17 am on Thursday morning weighing 6 pounds 2 oz. I was induced with prostin gel at 10 am and then 4pm, waters went naturally at 8pm, by midnight (on oxytocin by now) I was in agony with severe contractions but only 2 cm dilated so as the midwife advised I had hours left I opted for an epidural, 2 hours later I was fully dilated and ready to push, I went from 2cm to 10 in 2 hours! Baby didn't like the pushing and his heart rate dropped taking a long time to recover so it was episiotomy and forceps for me, didn't care as long as he was ok but was glad I had the epidural in. He breast fed straight away and took to it like a duck to water, unfortunately though his blood sugars dropped and he had to go to special care for a drip. He is still there now but doing well and hoping to have the drip off by morning, I am desperate to have him with me but just thankful that he is ok. He looked quite still and floppy at one point because of his sugars and that was really scary. It's been such a long, hard journey and I never thought I would reach this point but here I am. I will be back on in a couple of days, take care everyone x

Thanks ladies you are so lovely Smile

I think we will find out the gender this time Fan never have before but we only found out Erin was a girl when the neonatologist said 'I'm sorry but we are struggling to get her to breathe' because it was such chaos when she was born no-one told us girl or boy. I never want to find out that way again.

Vicky really not long for you now. How exciting Smile

Just back from seeing Sister Act at the theatre. Was brilliant!

Hi wtw so happy your scan went well. And that yr dp has been supportive - sometimes I think it helps for men to physically see the baby to make the whole thing real for them. Hope you can both now enjoy your pregnancy as much as is possible in our situation.
ciwi on stand-by for news - like too said, hope it's all been a breeze and you're having cuddles with your little guy now.
Hi to everyone else, will check in again later but got to get to Tesco before I pick the boys up from school so have to dash now.
