Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone is trying for baby number 2?

I've been 'sort of' trying for two months, but this month am really determined! I think i'm supposed to ovulate this wednesday, so BD'd today, yesterday... etc!!

I have a 15 month old DD....

Definitely seems to be a recurrent theme that those who have just stopped BF have noticed shorter cycles. I stopped breastfeeding a couple of months ago and cycles have def not been as regular as before and shorter.

stabiliser15 · 09/02/2012 11:44

Hellobear we're not doing anything like that.

I'm still trying to get to grips with what my cycle is - I took the pill back to back for years and years to do away with painful and heavy periods. I was taken off it when my BP rose a bit, didnt pay any attention to my cycle at all and conceived DD within 4 months of coming off the pill.

Took a different pill while BF and afterwards. Came off that just before Christmas and now trying to record things for a couple of months to try and work out what my cycle is, and then can target likely ovulation times more accurately. Cant help but hope I'll just get a BFP quickly before I need to get into all that!

Idratherbe · 08/02/2012 21:35

HelloBear I'm not doing anything swanky either, just good old fashioned shagging. That said i'm constantly eyeing up my pants just in case there's a story to tell Wink. DH is pretty savvy and I'm sure he knows when I'm ovulating as it seems to coincide with dramatic increase in boudoir action Grin. I've temped before but now we've got DS I'm nowhere near as good at organising and remembering.

sunshinejanuary · 08/02/2012 19:02

ddas I tried the old stay away from Mumsnet but it didn't help stop to stop me obsessing! I am now seeing preggo symptoms everywhere, I am trying to stop myself testing until Friday when my period is due but I have a sneay feeling I will be testing tomorrow!

HelloBear I am not doing anything in the way of checking OV etc, this is our first month of TTC #2 and I am already getting het up enough without actually charting anything. I am sure a few months down the line i will be trying everything. I can't belive how neurotic trying is making me! Thank God for being able to whigne at Mumsnetters!!

Bewler · 08/02/2012 14:01

HelloBear I breastfed my DD for a long time and my cycles seem a few days shorter than before....wonder if it has any connection? We are def not charting but did use OV sticks last month (didn't get a positive though!). We DTD so much though I'm sure we covered our bases but even if you do everything right I read that you only have a 20% chance each month Shock
My new hope is to be pregnant before DD is 2 in August and then I'll be pleasantly suprised if it happens sooner!

Chunkychicken · 08/02/2012 13:13

Fingers crossed IRB :)

Idratherbe · 08/02/2012 11:29

Loving all the pregnancies happening around here, congratulations all round! I posted on here a few weeks back and have been lurking since... So by way of update me and mr IRB have been doing the deed blimmin loads but I'm not clear on when I ovulated. It could have been anywhere between 29th Jan and a few days ago but i suspect it was round about 1st feb. Anyhoo, I'm feeling roughly the same as when I was early early preggers back in December so I'm really hoping... Period likely due anywhere between 10th and 17th feb, last cycle was 1st post MC and 24 days but I'm a 28 day girl as a rule. On days 17, 19 and 20 I had really sticky CM with a tinge of brown so I'm wondering if that was ovulation or implantation spotting. I've never experienced mid cycle bleeding before so I don't know. Now my nips are v sore, waking in the night and getting period like cramps. Here's hoping - will be testing no earlier than 16th. Hold me to it!

Brambule · 08/02/2012 10:14

Congratulations to all the BFPs and sorry to hear about the arrival of AF for others. I am now on 16dpo and feeling a smidge fed up. My LP is always so long. I've known for days from the stomach cramps and bloating that we've not been lucky this month so just wish AF would hurry up!

HelloBear · 07/02/2012 21:19

bewler - I also have short LP, my cycle seemed to be completely messed up since giving up BF my DD in June. I hate having my AF and it makes it more expensive!!! So I have sympathy for you.

Anyone else not doing charting, OV sticks etc? We are not, just trying to keep it relaxed and DTD for fun Shock. Though saying that my DH did announce while cooking tea tonight that we have to have sex tonight! This is because I showed him my phone app and he remembered that I OV around now. Just have to find the energy now....

stabiliser15 · 07/02/2012 21:15

Congratulations to all who have their BFPs! Here's hoping for some more next month...

Bewler · 07/02/2012 21:13

Congratulations Chunkychicken!! How lovely. Bet you are over the moon Grin will go and get myself some vit b6 but try not to worry yet.

Chunkychicken · 07/02/2012 20:41

Bewler from other threads, I understand that taking B6 or a complex of B vitamins does help extend the LP, so it might be worth a shot? There was a thread on it not so long ago... :)

Chunkychicken · 07/02/2012 20:39

Thought I'd share my news on this thread too; BfaintP this afternoon!!! I totally caved to other MN- utter etter pressure Wink and did a superdrug early test and it was there! Had to check the box a few times to make sure I wasn't mistaken, as I so didn't expect it.

Ddas I'm afraid I can't help with the when to do it thing. We only DTD about 6 times this cycle, although we aimed for every other day, but didn't quite manage it. The only thing I can say is that the days my Period Tracker app said I was ov'ing was the day after and the day when we DTD, if you follow me. I think it must be about right because last month it didn't happen and we hadn't DTD on the day or two around its estimated ovulation date... Long story short - as long as the sperm and egg get there at the same time, it doesn't matter how often you do it!!!

I'm obviously a very lucky lady because (fingers crossed it 'sticks' etc etc) cycle 1 with DD and now cycle 2 for DC#2. I don't think they'll be a #3 so I don't think I can tell whether its just a coincidence or not!! :)

Anyway, fingers crossed for everyone else that has a visit from AF - here's hoping its the last one anyone sees for a little while!! Grin

ddas · 07/02/2012 10:05

on a DTD question what are people doing? seems to be conflicting advice on whether you should DTD everyday during your fertile period or giving time for the sperm to replenish and DTD every other day. I'm going to go all out this month and try OPK, preseed and lots of DTD and keep my fingers crossed!!

ddas · 07/02/2012 09:56

congrats on all the BFP!! and commiserations to those whose AF came. I'm in the same boat my AF was due today but came early last friday on day 24. pre ds cycle was regular like clockwork 28 days and we conceived on cycle 1 so was irrationally disappointed when AF came as shouldn't really expected it to happen so quickly again! Since DS my cycles have varied a lot more but just need to stop worrying and crack on with DTD this month. Decided I would avoid mumsnet as think it just made me more obsessive but gave in this morning and came on. Great to see some BFP though with others that had shorter cycles and to see other people on the same boat. bewler my DH also gave me a good talking to about being so impatient lol.

sunshinejanuary · 06/02/2012 22:59

Wow, great news on the BFP's ladies!
I have been hiding away from Mumsnet in the hope I will not keep speculating on whether I am pregnant or not. It hasn't worked! It is ridiculous, I keep trying to compare every bodily feeling and function I have to the last time I was up the duff as if that will tell me I am pregnant!
I think I could probably test on Friday, although had promised I would wait longer. I will be amazed if I can wait till then!
Hello Bear I too keep worrying about two, but i figure i will always worry about that so i may just get on and do it as i know i want another!

Bewler · 06/02/2012 19:23

turnwest ah, thanks, that's cheered me up! Smile I have to remember that proof that a short LP doesn't matter too much is asleep in her cot upstairs!

Debussyhead I might join you on the vit B although when I mentioned to DH he was like "FFS its the second month, stop being a weirdo! Just have some damn patience woman!". I'd love to be a man who doesn't worry that because he didn't get immediately pregnant after contact with an unsheathed penis means he's barren!! Grin

DebussyHead · 06/02/2012 12:53

Bewler I also fear I might have a short luteal phase based on last cycle's random early arriving AF so did a bit of research into it and apparently Vit B Complex is meant to help and so is Agnus Castus. I ordered both on Amazon thinking what the hell, in for a penny in for a pound! So just started taking them today.

Can anyone recommend good Ov sticks? I have been using the internet cheaping ones but only ever get a faint double line never a dead clear for certain line so its still hard to tell. Thinking I should probably invest in better quality ones so any recommendations welcome!

Margie32 · 06/02/2012 08:08

Hi everyone,

I found you all yesterday and would love to join the no.2 bus if that's ok. Huge congrats to all of those who just got a BFP...Smile

My DS is 13 months and we started trying for no.2 last month but AF arrived yesterday...Sad. I know I shouldn't be too upset as it's only the first month, but I'd managed to convince myself that I'd spotted pregnancy symptoms a-plenty...I'd forgotten how much I let my mind play tricks on me when TTC! I've also managed to convince myself that DS is some kind of miracle baby and that I'm going to find it really difficult to conceive no.2...this is mainly because I'm a worrier, but also comes from the fact that I went for an ovarian scan in the summer and the doctor asked me if I'd had trouble conceiving as I've got lots of nodules on my ovaries. We didn't have much trouble conceiving DS but now I'm convinced I'm doing battle against some kind of anti-pregnancy super-nodules...oh why can't I just be chilled out about all this...?

Anyway, really looking forward to hearing from you all and sharing our BFP news...Grin...hopefully soon.

Margie xxx

turnwest · 06/02/2012 07:10

Bewler- I m pretty sure my LP is only 9 days long, I ve been worried about it for a while before we started ttc, but it had nt made any difference and I'm pregnant on my 2 nd cycle. So I d say don't worry about it and just go for it and see what happens. Best wishes, I ll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Debussy- I used ov sticks to check ov date but SWI every other day from cd11 to cd 19, I ov on cd 17 I think. I really did nt have energy to SWI every day!! Lol. Good luck to you!

Bewler · 05/02/2012 19:52

Massive congratulations on your BFPs ladies!!!Grin What lovely news!!

I'm out this month...AF arrived this arvo on CD23 Sad. Fuming because I spent a tenner on a first response yesterday and spent ages holding my clearly BFN up to the light trying to see a line!! Looking back over the past few months I seem to average 23 days with the odd 26 day cycle. Might have a short LP but I remember worrying about this when TTC DD and I got pregnant with her after about 4/5 months so I'm tryng not to worry too much given that this is only cycle 2 of properly TTC #2. Wondering whether taking vitamin b6 would make any difference with my LP....any ideas?

I did use OV sticks but started early and used them up before I got a smiley face, then got EWCM around day 14 and continued to DTD a lot but if I ovulated around that time maybe it was too short a LP to house a fertilised egg. Will PO some more S this month and see if I do get a smiley face and just hope I have a longer cycle.

I have to keep reminding myself there is no rush....its not a race and I'm only just about to turn 32 to I do have time but its hard not to feel anxious each month that it doesn't happen Sad. Still, we are going away to a hotel for a night on my birthday in a couple of weeks - our first night away from DD so I have that to look forward to! We are also going skiing in March and I guess it wouldn't be a disaster if I wasn't pregnant before then....still, I would really like a baby this year....sigh.

Good luck ladies with your new BFPs, hope they are sticky ones and good luck to those still waiting Smile

DebussyHead · 05/02/2012 11:44

SWI = shagging with intent. I had to look it up on MN acronym page when I saw other posters using it and it made me giggle! Thanks for sharing ladies. We did OPKs and SWI for 6 days leading up to ov but still nada. I was exhausted by end of it! Lol. Fingers crossed for rest of us this month! Wink

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 05/02/2012 11:18

Debussy - what does SWI mean? Sex?

We had sex every day for 6 days up until my OV date. I used OPKs and CM to check when I was oving.

Fertility Friend advises to have sex every day when fertile so that we did!

Good luck - hope next month is your month.

JumpingFrog · 05/02/2012 11:07

Hey debussyhead! Thanks! We used OPKS and SWI. A lot. Most days Blush

DebussyHead · 05/02/2012 09:35
