Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone is trying for baby number 2?

I've been 'sort of' trying for two months, but this month am really determined! I think i'm supposed to ovulate this wednesday, so BD'd today, yesterday... etc!!

I have a 15 month old DD....

Just realised dc is 15months..... Never was good at Maths! After bf for so long (I also had to give up dairy while feeding as dc has a nasty dairy allergy & reacted to cows milk protein in my milk!) and on a restricted diet for pregnancy & bf I felt I needed a few months to get my body back & eat/drink what I like!!
Pink - sorry to hear you're so frustrated. Agree with bewler. Every other day should hopefully cover your bases. Hope it falls into place for you this month.

Bewler · 15/02/2012 19:42

welcome wine....ooh, wine, I could murder some right now! I breastfed my DD for 13 months and she's now 17 months and I only now feel like I'm ready to do it again! For me, I think bf that late made me feel like DD was still a baby that needed a lot of physical attention. She now seems so independent that I've had a rush of broodiness! This will be our 4th cycle of TTC but my cycles are short so it doesn't seem like we've been trying for ages. Took about 5 months for DD but seemed like an eternity.
pink does your DH want to TTC as much as you? if so you shouldnt have to tell him not to go out on nights when you should be DTD. I agree that we can get a bit obsessed with TTC which is not very sexy so I dont make a big deal about having sex on particular nights but once evvery few days during your fertile week(s) should cover your bases. I dont know when I ovulate either (bloody ov sticks never show a positive for me!) but regular sex should do the trick unless you have super long cycles or something and can't keep it up all month Grin. Good luck!

yes, just wanted to write this down somewhere, don't know who I can talk to about this and feeling a bit self indulgent.... Don't know whether I'm kidding myself, but we've been trying in my head since about September, but circumstances keep getting in the way. EG: DD1 ill and not sleeping one month, DH ill and too tired the next month, MIL's wedding 7 hour drive away the next month (knocked out a few days, both whacked from drive, next night dd1 hyper due to wedding and not sleeping, then drive home), next month Xmas, another 7 hour drive, next month DH goes out, stays out unusually late, knocks out two nights as next night he is too tired and falls asleep on couch at 8pm. DD1 goes to bed at 8.30 (if we're lucky). Trying not to mention whole TTC thing to DH, as I recognise how obsessed I am with it, so don't want to bang on at him. Hence why I didn't mention the date clash when he went out and got drunk, just told myself that it would be fine, we had one more night that cycle. It wasn't due to him falling fast asleep so early. Now I have the week marked on the calendar, have told DH I will not be going out, we will not be having any house guests and it would be greatly appreciated if he would also not go out, but he's an adult so that's up to him... I know I'm totally ott, but I don't see how else to get this going. Anyone else find similar problems? Am I kidding myself? At 36 is it just that I am now infertile?? My sister can't believe that I know when I ovulate, let alone know whether we have dtd at the right time. She just falls pregnant by accident. She is younger.

wineisamumsbestfriend · 15/02/2012 16:56

Not quite, Breastfed for 13mths and DS now 14 months. Didn't feel ready any sooner but full respect to those who do. Don't want too big a gap so keen to crack on now!

CheshireDing · 15/02/2012 16:37

Welcome Wine

God I have eaten way too much chocolate today but of course wine is always appreciated :)

Are you of the group which is still bf and mad enough to want a baby whilst the current one is still little? Our DD is 4 months.

wineisamumsbestfriend · 15/02/2012 15:14

Can I join you all? I bring wine and left over valentines choccies! Hubbie and I just started ttc number 2 and I just have a funny feeling it won't be as easy this time. Hope i'm wrong! Xx

DebussyHead · 15/02/2012 14:00

Sorry Huppo for your BFN - its very frustrating when your cycle goes whack when before its been so steady and predictable.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, my cycle was much shorter for the first time ever last month totally confusing me. To add to my confusion I've now been charting with Fertility Friend iPhone App for 2 cycles. Cycle one (the weird short one) said ov was on CD18 and AF came CD21. Usually AF is CD30. This cycle it is saying ov was CD11 (???) and AF predicted for CD21 in which case we have missed the boat as didnt start SWI until CD12. I started OP Kits from CD11 and they have all been negative so I am convinced I havent ovulated yet but the temperature charting is suggesting I have. Arrghghg! Why is this not more simple and clear.

Feel like I basically 'might' ovulate any time in a 3 week window! Not exactly precise.

Good luck everyone will be checking back regularly to see how you all get on!

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 15/02/2012 11:51

Hello I really don't know, since my periods came back in June they've never been late! I did another sneaky test this morning, just to be sure, and it's definitely negative. And AF is now 5 days overdue.... I want it to come now so the cycle can start again. I even looked at an ovulation prediction kit in Boots this morning. I'm too old to leave this much longer!

Hello you are so right, the whoe theme of this ttc business is 'wait and see'; what else can we do?!

HelloBear · 14/02/2012 22:41

Sorry Huppo, I wonder what that is about? Bloody bodies playing mind games with us. Are you often late? Or clockwork?

I agree totally with what you said about mistaking premenstral symptoms with pregnancy symptoms. I have been convinced that my boobs were sore like they were with DD but now it's fine totally. Dint think this month has been successful, worried that we totally missed my ov. I'm confused by the cewm! Hay ho just have to wait and see.

CheshireDing · 14/02/2012 15:35

Oooh fingers crossed for you Huppo :)

Well my theory with ttc so soon is that I will get the kack of sleep out of the way sooner if they are close in age and that (theoretically) they might be more likely to get along better.

There is no point getting an ovulation kit whilst bf I realise but does anyone know whether the temperature indicator would work whilst bf?

Bewler · 14/02/2012 13:13

sorry huppo Sad

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 14/02/2012 12:44

BFN

FFS!

Margie32 · 14/02/2012 11:26

Hi everyone,

Huppo, got everything crossed for you, hope you get some good news. Hello, I'm not doing any charting or sticks yet - I thought I'd break myself in gently but I'm already getting madly neurotic about TTC no.2 and it's only month no.2! So I'm sure I'll find myself in the ovulation kit aisle of Boots before too long...Smile

Is it possible that I don't ovulate until day 23 of my cycle? I seem to remember that when were TTC DS and I was charting my temp. that day 23 was the Big Day, but thinking about it today, it does seem very late. Anyone else a late ovulator?

Bewler · 14/02/2012 09:41

Huppo I shall be lurking today hoping you get a nice Valentine's day suprise! Smile

I am in awe of people of TTC so quickly after birth....I was so wrapped up in DD the thought of another baby never even crossed my mind. I still think she is a baby at 18 months!! Its only when I hold tiny babies that I realise she's all grown up now! Grin My friend who has a 16 month old DS is due with DC2 today......she says labour seems like a walk in the park compared with the prospect of looking after the two of them. Her midwife asked if she wanted a home birth and she said no way, no-one is going to cheat me out of my night in hospital!!!Grin

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 13/02/2012 21:18

Bewler No! I resisted! And still no period yet. Perhaps I will do a Valentine's day test tomorrow and the Bid Reveal could make this a memorable one for DP Hmm !!

Cheshire wow you are keen with DD1 at 4 months. Good on you! My periods didn't come back till DD was 9 months and ebf, but everything says you can get preggers before AF makes an appearance, so it's a good excuse for lots of sex (although 'lots' is a debatable term when you have a small, noisy, hungry DC on the scene?)

CheshireDing · 13/02/2012 20:22

DH and I are TTC No2 but as DD is 4 months and ebf it is looking unlikely to happen anytime soon :(

Bewler · 13/02/2012 19:45

Huppo...did you test? Smile

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 13/02/2012 14:35

Hello Hello (bet you've heard that plenty of times!)

The only symptom is being convinced that my period will start at any minute .... I've had many months of dealing with the disappointment when it arrives, so I feel very finely tuned to what it feels like! I think that pre-menstruation symptoms are pretty similar to pre-pregnancy symptoms. EG: sleepy to the point of knackeredness (but that goes with fulltime working, commuting and 15 monthold DD), slightly bigger boobs (could be period-related, could be my imagination), hungrier than normal (definitely just an excuse to eat loads of carbs, which I did for the whole of my pregnancy last time, love it!).

Reading back to a previous post of yours, the only 'trying' we've done is for me to know exactly what day my period started and is due. Then lots of shagging in the middle two weeks or so. In fact, this month it was mainly anygry shagging and making-up shagging as we had loads of rows Blush.

HelloBear · 13/02/2012 13:29

Ups sorry my phone corrected that to hippo rather than your name!

HelloBear · 13/02/2012 13:28

hippo you have a lot more will power than I have, though this time round I've promised myself no early testing. Have you any symptoms?

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 13/02/2012 12:04

Hello everyone, it's been a few weeks since I posted earlier in this thread ....

My update is that my period was due 3 days ago, it's never usually late ... we've been ttc since last July but I was bf til October so that may have scuppered the first few months.

I am trying to wait before testing ... just a few more days ..... but I will walk past a chemist's on my lunchhour which is in about half an hour! Will my willpower win??!

When3Become4 · 12/02/2012 15:35

Hello, can I join (brand new username especially!). DD is 1yo (conceived v quickly in first month of trying). Now going for DC2... Am mid 30s, on the folic acid and swi :D

HelloBear · 11/02/2012 22:46

Sorry to read about your post sunshinej, it is upsetting and so frustrating due to the total lack of control over the whole business.

Well think I possibly OVed a couple of days ago, SWI plenty so now just the wait. Trying REALLY hard to not think about it...but I went out and bought not 1, not 2 but 3 HPTs. Oh dear me Hmm.

sunshinejanuary · 09/02/2012 20:08

Well, I caved and tested today although AF not due until tomorrow and BFN :( I am pretty sad about it (stupidly! As only first month of trying).

I am still BFing but ny DD is 25 months and I have had my period back since she was 9 months so I am pretty sure this will have no negative impact on TTC.

I am hopeing other ladies here are awaiting better news than I have this month!
