Hi CW30,
Congrats and OMG!! Havent a clue about the maternity leave query, as im self employed, but the government website is supposed to be pretty good, failing that if you go to your job centre they'l be able to advise you.

I reckon that by the time your collegaue's due back for maternity leave you'll be starting your maternity leave - maybe you could job share!

I understand the terror bit too - id only been seeing my partner for 4 months when I found I was pregnant - shock wasnt the word!! Gyno told me id have probs conceiving.

I wonder if your mini period was actually implantation???

Once its sunk in you'l be buzzing!!

Aww CWest of all the luck/timing Grin.

Get telling your DH (although presume you have by now).

Don't know about a temp job, as it's temp I wouldn't have thought you were entitled to mat pay from them - but I don't know really.

Don't you have to have been in a position for 12 weeks to get SMP? Although I think you can claim MA instead. There is a charity website called Maternity Action, give them a ring, they were really good when I rang.

CWest30 · 03/03/2012 16:05

Hi ladies,

Havent posted in a while, after my af came last time we decided to cool it for a bit. I've just literally changed jobs, have been asked to cover a team leaders maternity leave in the childcare setting where I work. Ive only just qualified so a fantastic oppourtunity! However this has meant that I've had to give up my part time job in a shop to fully commit to my new role. We decided that since my career was taking off, we were going to hold off on Baby no 2 for a while......can anyone see where this is going? I literally left my shop job yesterday, so thought I would do a test this morning before i start my new job on Monday.......yep BFP!!!!! and VERY positive, the 2 lines have come up straightaway!! What the hell do I do now? Havent even told my hubby, we'd stopped doing the deed as didnt think we were gonna try anymore but somehow its happened anyway. The only thing I can think of is that I may be further along than I thought, (my last period began 2/2/12) but was very light, and only lasted about 4 days) so by my calculations Im either 5 weeks or 9 weeks already!! Does anyone know the laws regarding maternity leave for a temp job? Cant believe I've left my permanant job and now this has happened - I go beween joy that its happened, and sheer terror that everything is going to fall apart, I've got no idea how to tell hubby, I think in his point of view, trying for a baby was over arrrrrrrgggggh please someone help!!

Hi and welcome Raspberry.

Bewler, I really loved reading your post, once you're on the roller-coaster of ttc it's easy to lose sight of the fact that we're in the fortunate position of already having 1 happy, healthy DC - thanks for reminding me that I'm a very lucky girl and should just calm down on the neurotic symptom spotting.

Heels, sorry to hear about your ectopic pg, sounds horrendous. My pain has died down a bit, and if I was pg I would have only conceived in the last 10 days/2 weeks, which I think is to early to experience signs of an ectopic. Cheshire, am going to look into the symptoms of IBS, that's a good suggestion. My Mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year so I tend to get a bit paranoid when I feel anything even vaguely weird happening down below. Let's hope that this time it's connected to a BFP!

Raspberryjam · 03/03/2012 09:43

Hi Ladies,
Can I join you? Am 41 and TTC no 2. We have a daughter aged 4 conceived with IVF - vvv lucky first time! Had failed frozen cycle nearly 2 years ago and recent failed IVF. 6 months ago started Clearblue, preseed, as has always been unexplained. We've just decided to go for it again with IVF and ICSI .
Starting to wonder if it will ever happen and if we will have another miracle and hoping still it could happen naturally. Wishing you all every bit of luck ...

CheshireDing · 02/03/2012 21:37

Aww congratulations Debussy Grin

Lots of sound and sensible advice coming from ladies on here and some positive attitudes - Bewler :)

Margie hope you're feeling better soon. I don't know anything about ectopic sorry. Could it be IBS though?

I will have to look up Agnus Castus, I don't know if it would help me or if it's something I can use whilst ebf anyway.

Good luck RIBS, we had a mc before DD too and it seems to have happened to everyone we know who is trying to get pregnant so much as we would love another baby we know we are very lucky to have her.

HaveToWearHeels · 02/03/2012 15:57

Well first AF since ERPC arrived this morning. 8 weeks to the day since the OP. I am feeling more possitive today and have stocked up on OPK's this morning.

RIBS & "Debussy* thanks for the reassurance, I have bought 20 PT's and 50 OPK from Amazon, also purchased 2 CB Digitals today along with my Vit B6 that was suggested to me.

Margie Sorry you are feeling poorly :( I have had an ectopic, I had horrendous pain the day before AF was due. Worst pain ever in my life for about 20 minutes 20 x period pain, made me sweat and I had to lay on the bathroom floor, until DH found me.
Next day I did test and was pregnant. So went straight to the GP who was fab and we did three lots of blood tests 2 days apart to check HCG was rising, which it was. At 6 weeks I had spotting and GP sent me for early scan which showed nothing, neither did internal scan so ectopic was diagnosed.
The only pain I had was the first lot which was probably about 2 weeks after conception, luckily I didn't have to suffera repture, due to having a GP who was on the ball. Hope that helps.

Crazytictac · 02/03/2012 13:56

Ah bewler I thought what about what you'd written this morning as was feeling bit envious ( but happy at the same time) that my friend had a baby girl in the early hours and yet what seems umpteen pregnancy announcements this week!

DebussyHead · 02/03/2012 10:05

Hi Ladies, thanks so much for all the congratumalations.

I thought I'd share with you all that this whole month I was taking Agnus Castus. Its a herbal supplement that is meant to extend luteal phase (I had v short luteal phase of 8 days) and improve egg quality. I bought them through Amazon. It may of course just be conincidence that my first month taking this is the month I fell pregant but I do remember when reading the reviews on Amazon there were women saying the first month of taking it they fell pregnant. Worth a shot!

Hellobear congrats to you too!

HTWH I think the internet cheapies are still good but the wondering if it shows a vague line thing was driving me nuts. I like that CB is a straightforward yes/no indicator. My CB 'Pregnant 1-2 weeks' was at same time as a very very faint line on the internet cheapy one (yes I actually did two at ones..to be sure....Hmm) Ofcourse you need a bank loan to stock up on CBs!

Bewler sounds like you have a really good attitude to it all. My DC is 21 months and is such good fun I think it is important to really enjoy that time with them. She will be 2.5 yrs when this baby is born (if it is a lucky sticky bean of course...fingers crossed).

Anyway wishing you all bucket and skip fulls of luck and babydust. Will be keeping close eye on this thread still to hear all the positive stories that will be coming in the weeks ahead and hope to see you over on the pregnancy boards in no time!

Bewler · 01/03/2012 19:52

Congratulations Debussy!!! Chuffed to bits for you Grin

Welcome RIBS and Lizzie Have some Wine or maybe a Brew

Well, turns out I can still hang my head in shame as a digital stick waster as Af arrived last night. Seems my cycles are getting longer 21 days, then 23 days and now 25 days so that's all positive for my LP I hope.

I was moping around like a menstral loser last night and DH very calmly and sensibly reminded me that there is no rush and that this time being at home with DD is so precious. I will never be able to give her (or any other DC) the same attention I do now and life is pretty sweet looking after one DC who eats and naps well and is lots of fun to be with. So as much as I want to be pregnant again I must not wish the time away by living for the 2WW. I felt quite Blush as I'm not even super broody yet, I just want to know it will happen (which it will) but as usual I have let myself get into a bit of an anxious state because this is cycle 4 and no BFP. So I'm trying to have a bit of an attitude change and hope that we get pregnant before DD is 2 in August so that would give us a nice age gap but to really appreciate how good life is at the moment not being pregnant and being able to spend time with my DD not feeling sick, tired, grumpy etc.

Anyway, just thought I'd share in case anyone else is feeling a bit anxious/sad about not having a BFP yet. It will definitely come and when there are 2DC life will never be the same again and it will be amazing but also so much harder than it is now so enjoy!

Margie32 · 01/03/2012 19:40

RIBS sorry to hear about the MMC but your attitude is amazing and your post really made me smile...Smile

hellobear and debussy huge congrats...Smile

I need your advice ladies. I'm on the dreaded 2ww and for the last couple of days I've felt quite a lot of pain in my nether regions. It's hard to say exactly where it's coming from, as it seems to move around a bit, but it's like a dull ache in my tummy which occasionally turns into a sharp pain further down, and this afternoon I felt like I needed to fart the whole time...sorry if TMI...even though I didn't. My stomach is really bloated and I'm not hungry at all, which is weird for me. All v ood and obv might have nowt to do with the whole TTC scenario, but I'm a bit worried about the possibilities of an ectopic. Does anyone know how soon after DTD you would get symptoms of an ectopic? I'm assuming I'd probably have bleeding as well at some point?

I've been quite stressed lately, so it could just be that, but I have to admit to feeling a bit concerned, will definitely go to the docs if it doesn't go away.

RIBS · 01/03/2012 14:25

Hi ladies,

Can I join in the fun and games. Just came on for a lurk and this looks like a lucky thread, lots of BFP's. Congrats to everyone.

I had bfp in oct but mmc in Dec, which was very sad, but onwards and upwards. As I dont ov very frequently im on my 1st months dose of Clomid. Using ov sticks aswell , but v confused (it doesnt take much). my ov sticks indicated i may have ov'd on day 8 (seems a bit early) but basal temp didnt go up. Im on day 11 now so hoping it was a false positive as id been away for the weekend dp got carried away and got a little over excited too bloody early and it didnt manage to errr quite hit the spot. GGrrrrrrr!! I was too tired hungover to wait til he was ready and our DD was in our bed at 6am. So no chance of dancing with the funkcy chicken in the morn!

HTWH - Ive found the internet cheapies on Amazon just as good. I get the ov sticks and the preg tests in a big batch. Then if you are prone to a bit of hysterical P-ing OS sessions then you have no guilt as cheap as chips. Very handy if you're HAVING to go out for drinks but not sure if the BFP may be lurking!!

HaveToWearHeels · 01/03/2012 10:48

Debussy Wow fantastic news, so pleased for you.

I have been using Internet cheapies to as I am using so may. I occassionaly treat myself to a CB Digital (how sad is that). After reading Mumsnet they are definately the most reliable tests aren't they ? DH is dubious but I think he is thinking about the bank account lol

Crazytictac · 29/02/2012 21:17

hellobear and debussyhead congratulations!! You must be thrilled :)

bewler really hope you get a BFP. It's impossible not to test though when you have the tests in the cupboard. Another frivolous stick waster here too! My friend tested on the day she was due and had BFN but was still pregnant, fingers crossed.

cheshireDing frustrating news with the dodgy smear, but better to know everything hunky dory for peace of mind eh. Good luck.

chunky I know I'm on the other thread with you but sending you positive vibes again!

havetowearheels It must be driving you crazy, I really feel for you.

lizzie I hear you and know exactly what you mean!

Think I will be ovulating next week ish, please let this be my month!!

Chunkychicken · 29/02/2012 19:16

^Crossed not tossed clearly...Blush

Chunkychicken · 29/02/2012 19:16

Wow Congrats Debussy fingers tossed for a sticky bean.

DebussyHead · 29/02/2012 19:13

Hi all, quick update. As per usual I caved in before my planned test date and did the CB test tonight since last night's Internet cheapy test was so inconclusive.

BFP!! 1-2 weeks it says. Cycle 5 of SWI which was exactly the same time as DC1.

V pleased though we have a 2 week holiday booked and paid for to Lanzarote in sept when I would be 31-33 weeks pregnant! Have checked and apparently you can fly up to 36 weeks with ryanair provided there is a fit to fly letter. Eeek! My boss is gonna go nuts too as the only other person that does my job is also pregnant but so what I'm pleased as punch. Hope it sticks.

Thanks to you all for support and chat! More BFPs I hope for more of you!

DebussyHead · 28/02/2012 22:00

Hi ladies glad we are back chatting after quiet spell! I've been distracted with sick DC with chickenpox. Chunky sorry you didn't get a sticky bean Sad lots of baby dust this time round. Bewler it's so hard to resist the test!! I'm CD 29 and no AF yet. I'm usually 30/31 days cycle but last month was 26. I have been falling asleep before 9pm quite a few nights maybe a sign Hmm?! Tonight I caved in and did an Internet cheapy POAS. It clearly only has one line but I have been holding it up to the light like a forensic scientist crazy person and think there may be a very very tiny faint line (clearly wishful thinking as DH can't see anything!). It's crazy what your mind does to you!! Will do a proper CB test on Thurs.

Crazytictac · 28/02/2012 18:58

Hi all. Joining my 2nd thread in 2 days after being a long time lurker!

TTC baby number 2. I have a DS aged 22 months, been trying since Sept (chemical pregnancy in November). Cycles vary quite a bit so whilst I'm hoping this will be my month I may be here a while!

CheshireDing · 28/02/2012 15:27

Aww bewler, I used about 3 last month even though we had not even been "doing it" that much :(

I will still cross my fingers for you.

Bewler · 28/02/2012 14:04

not to not too* Blush

Bewler · 28/02/2012 14:03

I am a total dick and did a CB digital this morning even when wise old DH told me not too. Waited till he'd gone to work, PO the S and BFN!!! Arrrgghhhh! CD24 for me and AF due any time now (usual cycle length 23 days) so its close enough to AF that BFN highly unlikely to be wrong.
Felt compelled to rush out and buy ANOTHER CB digital to replace the one I PO so DH wont know that I'm a frivolous stick waster!!!
Sad All those stories of people who seem to get BFNs and then a few days later magically get a BFP can't really be true are they (looking for a gleam of hope)!
Chunky really sorry to see you back......hope you get another BFP soon xx

LizziePizzie · 28/02/2012 13:48

We have a DD 20 months who was conceived through IVF so I am not sure of our chances. We did say that we would wait till her 2nd birthday before going IVF again. Our problem is we don't try that hard (giggle) but with a 20 month old, the last thing on my mind is sex! If only you could conceive and sleep at the same time! :o

HaveToWearHeels · 27/02/2012 23:18

Still trying here, still doing weekly Pregnancy tests.
I am now 7.5 weeks post ERPC and still no AF :(

Chunkychicken · 27/02/2012 22:05

Hi all!!! Haven't been posting here for a bit because I was quite upset to find I didn't have a sticky bean last month, so we're having to try even harder at TTC!!!
Peak fertility for me at the mo according to OPKS & CM etc. then the 2WW again!!!!
