a line is a line? how faint is faint?

Been TTC two years with no success. This afternoon I have my pre-op assessment for a lap and dye. Judging by the last few cycles I'm a day late with AF. I had a First Response sitting in the bathrom cabinet and this morning thought 'I'm going to do it. Just so it's not sitting there and taunting me'.

I did it. I watched it develop as I cleaned my teeth. I fully expected just the one dark pink line as usual. Then I noticed a kind of 'shadow' where the second line should be. It's never happened before so I assumed it was an evap line. Left it for 5 mins while I made a cuppa and went back to it.
It's very, very faint. But it's definitely there and definitely got a pink tinge to it.

So how faint is a faint line? I've done so many of these bloody things over the last two years I knwo i'm seeing a line and not something else but after solong I really can't let myself believe that I have got a positive.

I'm trying really really hard to keep my feet on the ground....

(ps is it worth me buying a digital when I'm out later? I don't want to tell DH the possible news when he gets up, it will be too upsetting to get his hopes up if i'm not pregnant)

QueenRollo I've only just caught up with this. I am so sorry. You take good care of yourself now xxx

beatofthedrum · 04/01/2012 22:03

So sorry x

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 04/01/2012 19:22

Queen- when I had my chemical, the bleed was very different even down to the smell. I was about a week late like yourself. If you do some print offs about the Hydrosalpinx and your diary maybe you can get them to take you seriously?

I really hope you get that magic sticky bean soon, be kind to yourself :)

roundtable · 04/01/2012 16:25

That's disgraceful, laughing.

Feel for you queen and I hope some answers.are found soon.

Imps7 · 04/01/2012 16:05

I'm sorry, but laughing at someone who is undergoing fertility investigations is an outrage in my book Angry.

Really really hope things go your way soon Queen.

queenrollo · 04/01/2012 15:54

maybe i'm being crazy but I have hydrosalpinx in one tube. I've read that the fluid from this can prevent implantation or cause miscarriage. My consultant laughed at me when I queried this.Hmm
I am now sure that two previous times when i thought I might be pregnant and had a longer cycle that i was pregnant and that this is in fact the third time it's happened.
Because my cycles are not clockwork i never tested before. But the pattern is the same. AF a week later on those cycles (i've kept a diary), very tender breasts for a few days which then suddenly subsided, then really bad back ache/pressure and the arrival of a heavy and odd AF.

TMI but the bleeding is the same. Not like my usual AF.

I have had my blood test this afternoon. The pre-op assesment nurse is going to talk to my Consultant and phone me tomorrow to let me know what he wants to do and whether my scheduled lap and dye will go ahead on Tuesday or not.

I'm afraid I broke down and sobbed all over the nurses who took my blood.

I am so sorry to hear this, it has happened to me sadly, twice and its extremely common. My consultant has said that only 30% of conceptions ever implant.
However, after 2 years I can see how this must be a horrendous kick in the teeth for you, you poor thing.

I have nothing to add but its good you have an appointment for investigations. I got very hung up about low progesterone levels (as I also have spotting before AF) and have started taking b vitamins and using a spot of progesterone cream after ovulation.

Imps7 · 03/01/2012 10:56

Oh, my heart goes out to you. Am so sorry.

queenrollo · 03/01/2012 10:03

Sad bit of brown blood this morning and a negative test. Looks like it was a very shortlived piece of happiness. I have to wait until tomorrow for a repeat blood test but I think I already know what it's going to tell me.
