That's great news Stogan, really pleased for you. Smile

I'm lying in bed with a stinking cold, and trying to persuade bean to make some kind of discernible movement - surely by now!

free I hope tonight goes well and your friends are understanding. That's interesting about seeing Mr S throughout pregnancy. I can see some sense in having that continuity.

35 isn't really a target as such for me, my birthday is just another sad landmark of not being pregnant. We started trying properly this time last year and that first cycle of knowing we hit the right days crashed and burned when my period arrived on my birthday last January.

My plans for NYE have fallen through - the people we were supposed to be spending it with have called it off because she has been diagnosed with c difficile! She has no idea how she has picked it up. It is usually contracted by people who have been on lots of antibiotics and have weakened immunity. She doesn't fall into any of those categories so it is a mystery. She is a dr, but none of her patients have been symptomatic of it.

Duggs I know because I can always feel ov and I am also charting. I have had pre-ov twinges but not my usual ovulation bloated/constipated feeling. I am on the Letrozole but no trigger shot this month because when I was scanned on CD 12 none of the follicles were ready enough for him to tell me when to take it. He said he normally would have rescanned in a few days but that would have been right on Xmas so it was impossible. He predicted I would ovulate on day 18 based on the size of my follicles when he scanned but that was 2 days ago and there is no ov yet. I am really pissed off. All that stealth sex with Xmas visitors in the next room for nothing!

digitalgirl · 30/12/2011 11:01

Welcome Jane I think if there's a chance you might be pg I would take the pred just to cover yourself.

OP posts:
freelancegirl · 30/12/2011 11:01

Oh of course, silly me. Jane is Jane and not Janet. Doh.

Hello Digi, I too am going to be staying in on NYE I think. My first ever night in! Not that I am exactly usually clubbing until dawn these days but DH and I are usually away somewhere hot and will go out and explore and get rip-roaringly drunk on some beach somewhere and find a random party. Could always go down Brighton beach with a flask I guess?

I think your conception efforts this time deserve a medal Digi so you are fully entitled to feel smug if you do. I remember it unfolding live ? to keep going diligently until day 31 was an incredible feat! I still can?t quite believe you did it!

Good luck to Stogan too from me!

Sorry you are having a frustrating time of it Euro. It?s funny how we all have those mental age targets. Those with children preferring a certain gap between first and seconds, those of us without children wanting to do things before a certain age. It feels like a bummer when you have to move the goal posts. I guess 35 was an aim for me at first but then I didn?t start trying until I was 36. I will be 38 by the time I have a baby now, and that?s if this one definitely survives. Oh well, people do have them quite a bit older.

Cornflakes I will indeed add you to the list. Do give us more details so we can make sure you are on there properly. I will leave a couple of question marks. Shall we add any other newbies too? Have forgotten who has been diagnosed and who is just speculating about testing for high NKC.

Ari that Positive Pregnancy thing sounds like nice a idea. I may investigate it if I ever start feeling a bit more positive about this pregnancy! Maybe if I reach the second trimester.

Duggs that is really depressing to have been pregnant two Christmases in a row and not have anything to show for it. I really feel for you and can of course relate. Luckily my LMP of the first mc of this year was boxing day so at least I got to drink myself through last Christmas and New Year. Not that it is all about drink, but it certainly does help take the edge off! Remind me, what is an IUI? I do hope you have a fab 2012 along with all the rest of us.

Scooter sorry you are feeling so sad still, it is bound to have a lasting effect though unfortunately. Especially as you got so far along this time. You have been on my mind of course as it is a reminder as to how fragile the situation is with all of us. I know there are no real answers to be had with these things but has Mr S speculated as to what might have gone wrong this time? It could of course be just one of those things, a chromosomal issue. I think my last one was ?just one of those things? and nothing to do with the treatment not working. But you are on my mind and will be on my mind too when I climb on the bed for the next scan hoping something is still alive in there. By my LMP I would be 10.3 today.

Hi Iggi! It?s great to hear that you are going to be getting later scans too. I have to admit, I have no idea what is usual after the 20 week scan. I have never investigated that far ahead.

Did I mention that Mr S says (thinking really far ahead now) that I could actually see him as my consultant for the whole duration of the pregnancy? It is something I would really like to do. He visibly winced when I told him what my local hospital was Grin . Of course it would mean that the hospital I potentially give birth in is two hours away from where I live, which might at some point prove logistically complicated, but if I get that far along I think it is something I would like to do.

I am staying with friends in the country tonight and it will mean telling them about my ?situation?. I am always really nervous about this as I don?t want them to say ?congratulations? and will try my hardest to explain that although I am pregnant now I might not actually stay pregnant. It will just be too impossible to lie all evening about not drinking and not feeling crap. And they are close friends so hopefully it will be ok. But it?s not much fun though, this limbo stage that seems to be going on forever.

digitalgirl · 30/12/2011 10:56

stogan good luck today with your scan

euro that must be very frustrating, but I remember when mr s offered me superov he mentioned the first cycle as more experimental as he needs to start on a low dose. Didn't need the superov program in the end as I conceived on day 31 of this cycle (hope that doesnt come across as smug - just trying to offer some hope that a late ov can still be successful).

Very quiet weekend planned. Apart from kids birthday party tomorrow morning we're staying in on nye. Then taking Xmas decorations down on Sunday and returning house to normality for one week before dh's 40th birthday party the following weekend. Building work starts on the 9th.

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 30/12/2011 10:28

euro forgive me if you've already said, but how come you know you didn't ovulate if you did super ov and trigger injection? Are you taking letrozole and waiting to ov naturally?

eurochick · 30/12/2011 09:59

Kittens I hope the French bureaucracy is not proving to trying.

I'm very pleased to hear about all the good scans. That's great news.

iggi ignore the MiL - I find that is usually the best course of action in most situations!

Snoopy the holiday sounds good! Could you possibly acquire a turkey baster and take turns in the tiny plane loo?

Hi to jane.

I am on CD 20 here still with no sign of ov. I actually don't think it is going to happen this month now. I am so annoyed. This was my last chance to get pregnant at 35. I had a lot of reservations about taking the Letrozole as I ovulate myself (and hate taking drugs) but went with it and now I really wish I hadn't. Mr S gave me a prescription for a higher dose next cycle but at this point I don't think I want to take it. I'm mostly feeling pissed off today!

Arianrhod · 30/12/2011 09:43

Morning all ... cornflakes do you have an ipod/iphone? If you have, there's an app by Andrew Johnson which is exactly what you're asking about, meditation for pregnancy, it's called Positive Pregnancy. I haven't been pregnant long enough yet to use it, but it sounds really good and I have it in waiting on my iphone for when (not if!) I get far enough into a pregnancy to be sure it's worth connecting with!! HTH.

/waves to everyone, kittens hope you're doing ok

cornflakes30 · 30/12/2011 09:03

Quick question does anyone know of any good meditation CDs for early pregnancy? I'm thinking about getting one that I can listen to to relax just once a day...

cornflakes30 · 30/12/2011 09:01

Hi all freelance yes please I would love to go onto the list please, it's so nice to have this board to talk to people who are in the same boat makes me feel like I'm not the only one. And it's so lovely to hear all the positive stories keeps me positiive.

Kittens I'm so sorry to hear your sad news I'm thinking of you xxxxx

duggs1976 · 30/12/2011 08:05

Morning ladies. Well 14dpo and still no BFP. Think AF is here. Could probably have 5 rounds of IVF with the amount I've spent on pregnancy tests over the past couple of years!!
Rubbish.
This time last Christmas i was pregnant and pretty much the Christmas before and still no "offspring!!!!!"

Q the cute kitten. Ahh well cliches are there for a reason I guess.

Am going for IUI next month because it will be my 5th month of pred and we've not even started yet. If that doesn't work I'm not going to be sat here next Christmas childless or without a viable pregnancy without a fight. Will throw all I have at trying to conceive in 2012.

2013 will have to be a different approach if it isn't happening for us.

(melodramatics from me ! Kind of used to them now !) Sad

Anyway cherry, snoopy, sue, euro, kittens . . sorry I am not a more inspirational super ov pioneer. sue did L really say 4 attempts? I dont really understand why. I'd like to believe that - it means I've 2 more to go.

Any scans today anyone? Xx

scooterchaser · 29/12/2011 23:21

kittens feel so sad for you, so sorry to hear about your mum. There are never the right words to say but just hope you have OH with you now to support you and although you must be busy with all the funeral arrangements I hope you have the space you need to reflect and grieve. Such a sad sad time, sending you love xx

PQ sorry about what your acupuncturist said. It's hard because until this process works it's not exactly easy for us to just 'get happy', I am sure if I saw someone like that they would tell me just the same. I wish i could shake this lingering sadness but all I do is get more used to it. Also find the RL meets a heartening experience though... perhaps we should try and arrange our meet ups to precede SWI!!

free I am so pleased you overtook me! Its great that you have started the weaning process for the right reasons. Feeling really positive for your Caribbean holiday dream in Jan. Sorry to hear you're so tired but on the plus side, that's a sure sign you have a bouncy bean (as my DH used to put it...) draining the life from the mother ship!

Brilliant to scroll back to see some good scans happening over the Christmas break.

iggi wow you are 18 wks!! MiLs are pre-programmed to say exactly the opposite of what you want to hear, unbelievable! Don't let people's comments dishearten you, you're doing great :)

cherry hi, your Christmas sounds crazy, also sounds like a sad time of year for you so hope you have been okay. Sorry you're fed up, hope the 2ww goes quick for you, keep us posted for your answer, thread is here whatever happens. I for one won't be moving up the list for at least another 3 months (!!) so am here to keep all the BFNs company :)

snoopy how's the holiday, golf buggy sounds so cool! Hmm, the smiley face conundrum... could you try to get upgraded?? Wink Wink

comedy boo to the UTI, hope it goes soon and you don't have to down the cranberry juice. Rooting for a great scan on 12th Jan, maybe they will be able to confirm pinkness then?

hi to jane and other newbies I've missed - you are in the right place for questions, this thread has been golddust for me. I would definitely take the pred asap after ovulation as in my experience it takes a while to build up to the right level in your system, so sooner the better.

Waving to peeps I've missed, just caught up on a marathon of posts.

igginezerscrooge · 29/12/2011 22:16

Sorry for the double-posting, phone hasn't been the same since I got it repaired.
Stogan I have a 30 and 34 week scan booked in too, they said they were growth scans?
My MIL helpfully said to DH tonight (after he said I'd reached 18 weeks) that a lot can still go wrong.. Cheers for that!
It is odd to think that this time last year I was in the midst of mc # 3.
Welcome, Jamethomas don't be scared about the steroids - I'd be more scared not to take them tbh.

Hey Janet - great to have you here. Sorry about your dad and also MIL, it must make Christmas a really poignant time for you.

But glad you have joined the thread, the more the merrier for our gang of drug-necking, mentalling, Dr Googling.

I would start taking the Pred tomorrow if you are ovulating now. I started mine a couple of days after ovulation both cycles (got pregnant both times have taken Pred, mc on the first and currently 10 weeks 'pregnant until proven otherwise'), just to make sure I could spin those 14 days of taking it out for a late BFP if necessary. But I don't think it is an exact science and as long as you start it around the time of ovulation that is good.

Are you going to stick around? If so we will add you to the list :)

Welcome back Cherry and sorry to hear you lost your dad too. Sorry to hear you are a bit fed up with it all as well. I think a lot of us can relate to that feeling right now. Hope your trigger shot does the trick this month so at least you can move on to the mentalling of pregnancy rather than the mentalling of ttc.

I really should back away from the computer now shouldn't I? Feel like am posting a lot today - I would say I need a life but I have had a nice social day too and just happen to post a lot in between! Honest...
