Wonderful news, Comedy!

Coconutfeet · 12/01/2012 20:00

Excellent scan news everyone (Cheerful - sorry, cross-posted earlier and missed your message), especially Comedy. I can't imagine how anxious you must have been about that one.

Comedyworks · 12/01/2012 19:08

Lovely news free and cheerful - congratulations!

My scan all good to - no apparent issues including the condition my son died from so a huge relief. Just need the nausea to stop now!!

eurochick · 12/01/2012 18:54

OK, frantic googling suggests that egg quality only seems to be an issue for late ov. As I ov unassisted between days 14 and 16, hopefully this is not my problem! Although the Letrozole made me ov late on day 20... Confused

www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/pcos-diabetes/601609-does-everyone-pcos-also-have-poor-egg-quality.html

eurochick · 12/01/2012 18:43

I hadn't heard anything before Duggs about pred and PCOS :(

I also didn't know PCOS had a bad effect on egg quality??? I had read that if you ovulated despite PCOS (naturally or assisted) you were as likely to get pg as anyone else? :( I am going to have to go away and do some more frantic googling research now.

I do know that Clomid tends to overstim women with PCOS. There is much less about Letrozole on the internet but I suspected it would be similar as it achieves the same result albeit in a different way. This is why I was nervous about going on it and was going a bit mental around Xmas when I wasn't ovulating because, despite the PCOS, I was having regular ovulatory cycles without any drugs.

I have decided to give the Letrozole one more cycle (with the higher dose Mr S prescribed - eek!) and proper monitoring scans and if I don't like what it is doing to me (too many eggs or whatever) I want to just ttc naturally alongside the pred.

Grin at furry lesbian hugs!

freelancegirl · 12/01/2012 18:28

Thanks for the chickens Ari Grin

Hello Duggs! Interesting theory about the PCOS and the treatment. Does seem to be a rather frustrating vicious circle. I do indeed remember my first scan and our furry lesbian hugs. It seems such a bloody long time ago, time having dragged as it has done. I was very glad to have you there with me though.

duggs1976 · 12/01/2012 18:24

Oh you have triggered the PCOS too then? The nurse at st marys muttered something about being on pred with a PCOS history/risk saying it doesn't help.

Then the PCOS has a negative effect on ov and egg quality. Vicious circle. Interesting though.

kittens and anyone else having trouble ttc any ideas if PCOS is or could be an issue creeping in due to pred usage? Just a totally unqualified thought?

eurochick · 12/01/2012 18:19

Free that is great news. how wonderful to see him/her moving around like that. The Downs ratio is excellent too! :) :) :)

Duggs It was just too early to say. He thought there were two or three candidates to become dominant but without another scan, he couldn't tell me when to take the trigger shot. The Letrozole (or perhaps the bucket loads of sugar I ate around Xmas....) seems to have triggered my previously well under control PCOS as he said there were a LOT of follicles. I think that made it difficult for him to see what he needed to.

I haven't used OPKs for almost a year. I just have swi from the end of my period until after I get a temp rise each cycle. I must have had an LH surge at some point as I did ovulate. Next cycle should be easier without Xmas getting in the way of scans. I am anticipating having to have several though!

duggs1976 · 12/01/2012 18:12

Ohh I missed free post !! amazing pioneer lady. Remember the lesbian fury hug days and look at u now !! X

duggs1976 · 12/01/2012 18:09

Hey. . PQ if u do get bfp then I will officially rename you FQ and mr PQ he must have some swimmers! RR appt ok. He did tell me not to take asprin. Anyway got smiley face today (never used smiley face sticks before) I like it. Am not supposed to ttc before the op thing but am so tempted. Have researched early blood tests on Harley st so I could check before the op?! Naughty meWink

euro if there was no dominant follicle did u not get a positive opk then? Having the scans will at least let dr s see what is happening in there?

Did someone say that if u on super ov dr s doesn't mind u not having a pred break or have I made that up?

Arianrhod · 12/01/2012 18:00

cluck 1 cluck 2 cluck 3 .. that's me counting your chickens for you free Grin What a fantastic scan, you and DH must be over the moon! Was it worth going to FMC for your nuchal then, would you recommend it? Not that I'm pg to have to worry about it, you understand, but always good to know these things for future reference! Since it's an area that concerns me, I'm thinking it might be better to go to a specialist in the field rather than the local hospital.

So pleased it's working so well for you free :)

freelancegirl · 12/01/2012 17:45

Hello everyone. Great news Cheerful! Good that you have had the intralipids too.

I have good scan news too. Haven't posted before as DH and I were wandering around town having a late lunch in Soho and a drink in Blackheath on the way home. The baby is still alive! And looking very much like a baby. The FMC was amazing, we spent about half an hour in the scan looking at every tiny bit of it (him/her I guess I should say!). It was bouncing around, standing up, sitting down, turning around. All measurements are normal and I have a 1:3070 risk for Down's which she said is the same as a 15 year old :)

The doctor was lovely and told me to go off and relax and enjoy my pregnancy. Yeah, right! But I will try to keep some of that confidence with me, until the next weird symptom/non-symptom/scan date etc etc. You all know the score...

They measured me 12+4 by Ultrasound (by dates it is 12+2) and gave me an EDD of 22/07/12 (by dates it is 24th - my bday!). So not sure which. Next scan TBA with Mr S. Am about to email them now.measurements to now stick on list? Digi what do you think?

Things move fast around here, it's hard to keep up. Stood out about PQ and the testing though, again good to book the intralipids so you have a plan of action. Were you witness to my frantic finding of a place in California? Let us know how the next few days go!

Sorry about the early BFNs Euro and Cherry but you are not out of the running yet. Must be very frustrating though.

Coconut am excited about your cheeky offer on the house! You can always up it if they say no, but a cheeky offer is a good starting point. Haggle away!

Glad you are looking after yourself Cornflakes and yes, yes, yes to the holiday.

Picolina I can only second, third and fourth what the others say and tell you that dildo cam is absolutely fine. I guess when you are dreading it your body probably tenses up. Just try to relax. It is far better to know what is going on and it will be over within a minute or two. Hope things become a bit clearer. I two had a lot of side twinges. It could be the corpus luteum? Look it up on Dr Google.

Choccy nice to see you here. Yes, Ari is right, I was only actually on the Hyroxy for two weeks before conceiving. I know he has asked other people (Ari herself probably) to wait a few more weeks before trying but so far it has done ok by me (not wanting to count any chickens of course).

Coconutfeet · 12/01/2012 16:28

I know what you mean about too much testing. I deliberately didn't test at all this time round until my period was a few days overdue. BTW for future reference (or anyone else who's interested) I've always found these cheapo early pregnancy tests extremely sensitive, I've had bfps at 9dpo on them.

eurochick · 12/01/2012 15:00

You must be on teneterhooks, coconut!

I tested yesterday per Mr S's Protocol sheet - BFN. I feel like my period is coming so I am not going to bother testing again (unless by some miracle it hasn't turned up by the weekend). I prefer not to test as much as possible. I am about to move onto cycle 15 with nothing to show for it. Peeing on expensive sticks before my period is due seems rather pointless.

Coconutfeet · 12/01/2012 14:51

Picolina - Sorry you're still having pains, but I guess the fact that they've moved is a good sign. If it helps I had all sorts of stabbing pains and aches early on and I think it was just the embryo burrowing in and getting comfortable.

Choccy - Limbo is a horrible place to be isn't it. I've not got experience of counselling personally but do know others who have found it really useful.

Eurochick - Will you be testing over the next couple of days?

We've just put a offer in on a house which is on the market for way over what anything else has sold for on that road or any roads nearby. It's going to seem like a really cheeky offer and I'm worried the vendor's going to be really insulted but I do think it's fairly realistic. I'm just waiting for the estate agent to call me back and say it's been rejected. Gah. There's absolutely nothing else out there at the moment.

eurochick · 12/01/2012 13:57

That's excellent news charlie.

A holiday sounds like a very good idea cornflakes. Where are you off to?

Hello! My scan went well today :-) all seemed to be good from measurements etc taken during the scan. I don't get the bloods back for a probably a week as they get sent to Germany for some reason. The doc wouldn't say for sure but we did have a good look at the nub thing and it was very clearly parallel to the spine so I am pretty convinced it's a girl!

Had a long wait but now in hospital about to have my intralipids.

Iggi- that seems like a rather irrelevant remark to put on your notes. Maybe the doc / nurse is just overly descriptive! I wonder if they put things like that down so if you later come back and claim you weren't told something etc they can say, look you were upset at the time you must not have taken it in properly. Like an arse covering type thing? Really don't know.

PQ - find it very amusing your home country allows you to insert your own dildo cam. How funny is that! I wonder where your home country is? I am guessing that sounds quite scandanavian /dutch..

Pico- glad to hear the pain is subsiding. Let's hope it was a bit of stubborn wind. Anyway a darker line is always a very positive sign.

cornflakes30 · 12/01/2012 13:05

Pico just been reading all the comments to you re your scan, cheered me up the dildo cam, I have had lots of the internals and they are over so quickly. I don't know where your based but st helier do a belly scan at about 5.5 weeks which is great saves all the internals..and I'm sure the pains are just growing pains thinking of you xx

cornflakes30 · 12/01/2012 12:56

Afternoon everyone. Thank you all so much for all your lovely comments it really helps talking to you all, and I'm am surprisingly positive which is great. I'm sure I will have bad days. But we hve booked a holiday so v excited as its been two years since the last one.. Eaten so much chocolate and caffeinated tea...

How did the scans go yesterday?

Free good luck today v exciting

guess best move me off the first trimester and onto the wttc haa v positive...

Bring on June I say as we are all going to be pregnant in some way haaa can't remember who said that butit was a good one.

Arianrhod · 12/01/2012 12:29

pico sorry you're going through this. Just a quick thought - are you on the steroids? Could your pains (shifting as you say they are) be wind? Without wishing to go into TMI I found the steroids gave me terrible wind, and that can be really painful! Just a thought :)

choccy good to see you :) I can't comment on the counselling, other than to say I know quite a few ladies find it really helpful. As for the hydroxy, although Louise told me they like you to be on it for 6-8 weeks I think free was only on it for a couple of weeks before she conceived, and look at the trail she's blazing :) I'm sure she'll comment herself when she's on, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. I know what you mean about the non-aphrodisiac, I'm actually kind of looking forward to not worrying about whether I get pg or not - trying to take a bit more of a relaxed attitude about the whole thing once AF has gone too, but don't know how THAT is going to go knowing how much I worry! :) Take care of you, and just see what happens, I should.

picolina123 · 12/01/2012 12:24

Im Crap!!
couldnt do the scan, kept thinking dildocam dildocam dildocam but it didnt help, i tensed up and they could not do the stupid scan!! so fustrating .

anyway on a brighter note the pain came back a bit but it also moved around and to the other side and a few other places so i feel better its not ectopic and physically and mentally today, cold and cough is getting better to and no shivers.

i have to go back to do blood test to make sure hormones are doubling, its also the first day this morning my pregnancy line on the preg test has been as dark as the test line so weather its true or nor im taking that to mean my hormones are doubling : )

ChoccyPud · 12/01/2012 11:06

Thanks for asking Ari. I'm lurking. Don't feel like I have much to say atm as still feel in limbo. I do feel much more myself tho which is progress! V drained tho which is combined effect of 5 mc's and a year of being pg/mc-ing/getting ready to try again. Loving not feeling steroided up tho wish the bloat would go back to summer levels.

I suspect I'll be back on it from March well about 7 weeks from now as ov'd Monday ish and if he puts me on hydroxy I will have to wait 6-8 weeks won't I?

Thinking that given that wait I might get another nkc level done just before ttc as if they're still v high (they were just after my mc in Dec) I don't see the point of walking into yet another one. I feel so drained but equally know I won't relax if we did decide to take a longer break as I'd still be thinking about when to start back on the rollercoaster so may as well just crack on. Plus being paranoid about avoiding getting pg is hardly an aphrodisiac!

Sorry for rant about me - esp having said I have nothing to say!!. I was gutted to see Cornflakes news and Sues. It's so so unfair. Take the time you need to work through it. I've been thinking about getting counselling to see if it can make me relax and feel more myself. Anyone got any experience?

Good luck today's scannees.

eurochick · 12/01/2012 10:25

Morning ladies. I was happy to read about the positive scans! And good luck to those with forthcoming scans.

Snoopy yes I am doing superov this month, but only the Letrozole not the trigger shot. That's only because at my scan on day 12 of my cycle just before Xmas there were no really dominant follicles so Mr S couldn't tell me when to take the trigger. Normally he would have rescanned a few days later but that would have been Xmas Day/Boxing Day so it just wasn't possible. Then I had a big stress on here because I thought I hadn't ovulated at all and had messed up my pretty regular cycles because of the Letrozole. Eventually I ov'd on day 20, much later than my usual day 14-16, and didn't notice for a few days because my temp rise was quite small to begin with and I had given up hoping to ov by that point, so I started the Pred late. So all in all, the first cycle of superov has been a bit of an odd one! I think it is about to end though (I'm in a foul mood today which is usually a sure sign that AF is coming) and I can move onto the next one, with more monitoring and the trigger shot this time.

sue I can see how you could get to £500 for the drugs and two scans (which is what I would have had last cycle, if Xmas hadn't got in the way).

pico I would agree with the others that a dildocam scan is a less unpleasant than a smear. For a start, most experienced scanners barely look at you (Mr S just tends to take a quick glance for a second under the sheet to make sure he is aiming right) whereas for a smear they are right up there, with lights! And there is no "cranking open" to get at your cervix, just a bit of painless moving from side to side to get a good view. And you should be able to see the screen during it, which I find fascinating!

cornflakes I hope you are ok, and looking after yourself.

cherrycheeks · 12/01/2012 09:23

Morning ladies
Good luck with all the scans today
