Evil and Raspberry I'm sorry you've both got to the stage where you're having to consider assisted conception, but for me I found it easier then because I was trying something different and not just shagging and hoping it worked. It's definitely a rollercoaster but worthwhile if it works, and even if it ultimately fails, you know you've tried your best. Give me a shout if you want to ask any questions, I feel like I'm an old hat at this now Grin

Hello all, thought I'd pop in and say hello. Not much happening with me, I've been hanging out on the infertility forum a bit but also been quite busy with life in general! Just waiting out our six months until we see the consultant to refer us. I've got an appointment with the GP tomorrow, I'm going to ask if I can have the day 3/21 tests every month until then to see if I am ovulating. He may say no but if you don't ask you don't get! I've started to be a bit more open now about my problems, quite a few people know but they aren't people who would then go around talking about it ifkwim. Hope all the long timers are hanging in there ok! It's a bit of a rollercoaster isn't it :/ xx

Good to hear from you, Josie - having RL people who know makes a huge difference :)

No news from me again, as per usual. We're still sticking it out until Christmas when we reach our three-year mark and can be referred for IVF if we decide to go down that road. I've still got some weight to lose before I'm eligible though, arrrgh. In the meantime, though, SWI is always fun! DH and I are trying not to think about any of it too much and just enjoy each other's company :)

fl0b0t · 22/05/2012 12:24

Well done Josie- it's nice to find someone who can actually relate, but also to manage to inspire them despite feeling rubbish yourself. That's a great achievement!

JosieSmith1 · 22/05/2012 08:59

Hi everyone, sorry I've been awol, it's been really busy at work and busy with cakes, and now my desk has moved so my line manager can see everything I do, so no more MN-time during working hours unless she's not here. Got an appt an new clinic on Monday so although I've been happier recently, I'm feeling a bit miserable now I have to get back on the train, but hey ho, we keep fighting. I've found someone at work who's going through similar so it's been really nice to be able to talk openly and frankly about how s**t it all is, no-one else in my RL understands how it feels. She's not started treatment yet but they've suggested IVF. Shes fed up but says she'll take inspiration from me as I'm not giving up, so that was really nice to hear. And I feel like I have to be strong for her so I'm feeling stronger myself. Off we go again......

Having babycrack problems today :-S

Sophie4 · 21/05/2012 14:57

Hi Everyone, i'm a newbie to this, read through a few comments and was hoping someone may be able to help. Me and my partner have been ttc since the begining of December. I stopped taking my pill (cerazette) and had my first period at the end of Dec. Since then my periods have been pretty regular. I have been using ovulation predictors since January and they have showed that I?m ovulating in the middle of the month. We have been having very regular sex around the time of ovulation but still had no luck. I?m a little worried because my sister, mum and cousin have all had trouble TTC and my sister has been told she will never have children. Can infertility run in the family? I just don?t understand, me and my partner are both very healthy, have regular exercise and only in our early 20s, we have regular sex around the time of ovulation but still had no luck. Also something that has been on my mind, my partner as a baby had an operation on his penis, although everything is working find, could that play a part in our difficulties? Would really appreciate some advice as its starting to really get to me now.

mrsmellow · 15/05/2012 21:31

170days!! fingers crossed for something closer to normal.

CaveMum · 15/05/2012 21:08

I suppose. The problem is that, without medication, this cycle could last a very long time! My longest cycle so far is 170 days, though I suspect they will only give me 40 or so days before bringing on AF chemically.

evilgiraffe · 15/05/2012 21:01

That seems like it makes sense, Cave. You'll only lose a month, at any rate - not much when you're this far into it, really, eh?

CaveMum · 15/05/2012 19:13

Hello all, sorry for not updating you yesterday. The clinic told me I'm not to take the tablets ths cycle as it is only a week since I finished the last batch.
I'm to "see how it goes naturally" and if I don't get pregnant this cycle, to start taking the tablets when I start the next one.

evilgiraffe · 15/05/2012 15:31

Glad to hear most people have appointments/plans all set up - fingers crossed everything works out for everyone!

It's day 2 for me, boooo. Might have some gin tonight, though :)

HopingSoon · 14/05/2012 11:53

Hi Ladies, hope u all had a nice weekend and enjoyed the sunshine!
Cave how annoying about AF arriving, I hope the doc says its ok for u to take another round of clomid this month! You must be so angry because you knew you ovulated late but they wouldn't have it!
MrsMellow sounds like you had a positive fertility appointment, I'm pleased you feel happier. Hopefully you'll be one of those people who fall pregnant naturally while starting fertility tests :)

Not loads to report my side, got fertility appt for 29th may so am very excited about that! Only prob being that husband can't come but consultants sec said that is fine. Finally feel like I am getting somewhere :)

CaveMum · 14/05/2012 11:02

Nurse never called back!

I'm waiting on my GP to call me to confirm that they can give me a prescription and then I'll phone the clinic again.

Glad they've got a plan for you mellow and fingers crossed for this follicle!

mrsmellow · 14/05/2012 10:22

How did you go cave ?
I'm just back from our appointment. Very nice lady, made a plan to do SA, then clomid for 3 months then further investigations possibly (she would do Scans and progesterone to confirm ovulation). Then she examined and wasn't planning to do a scan (she trusts the other doctor who saw my polycystic ovaries), but I asked if she'd be able to tell if I ov'd last week (had some lower pelvic pain and tender nipples so was wondering) - so she had a look and I had a 19mm follicle... so either just ov'd or am about to she thinks. Very exciting! She's sent progesterone and all the other bloods today and we'll see her next week with SA results and make a decision about clomid - but if I have ov'd she thinks we should just give it another 3-6 months of ttc/swi. Which I'm happy enough with if it looks like I'm ovulating. So I think I may actually now be in a 2ww... am going to remember that even with ov etc it is still 1 in 5 chance per cycle.... and not get over-excited or obsessed Hmm Wink .. fat chance Grin !

CaveMum · 13/05/2012 09:25

Thanks both, the nurse called back to say she needed to speak to a doctor to find out if it was safe for me to take a second set of tablets so soon after finishing the first batch. She's going to call me back later this morning.

mrsmellow · 13/05/2012 09:10

oh cave what a pain - it did seem unlikely that any blood test was infallible. I'm sure they can get you a new prescription. fingers crossed!

MrsCMacleod · 13/05/2012 09:08

Morning all, thanks for warm welcome.

I'm trying hard not to let it take over my mind... I really did think falling pregnant would be easy. I wonder how to train the mind to not think about it!

I've got a holiday coming up so hopefully will relax and get lots of time together ; )

Cavemum hope your day gets better

CaveMum · 13/05/2012 06:52

Yup, weird is right! And hey presto, AF is here in full force this morning.

The clinic must have cocked my blood test up. I phoned one of the nurses about 12 days ago to say that all the signs were pointing to me ovulating a day or two before (temp bump, pant snot, etc) but she told me it was "impossible" because the blood test said I'd already ov'd that cycle. I was right, because AF is bang on time for when I thought I had ov'd.

Stupid thing is, the nurse told me that, as I'd got to Day 42 I should take a pregnancy test and if it was negative to restart taking the Clomid. I waited a few more days then did as I was told, so now I've wasted my last batch of tablets! I will call the clinic later and ask them to call me first thing tomorrow to see if I can get an emergency prescription.

Not a good start to the day!

evilgiraffe · 12/05/2012 11:06

Hi all, and welcome to MrsC :)

Cave - sounds very weird! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all the same. Might be worth keeping a diary of how you're feeling and when you restarted the tablets etc?

It's CD26 for me today, so AF not due until Thursday. I'm feeling fine, but not very hopeful this month as we haven't really SWI (or without I) nearly enough. Add in my allergy issues and the "unexplained infertility" diagnosis and it all gets even more stressful, and then work has been a nightmare lately as well. Sometimes you wish you could just hide from it all!

CaveMum · 12/05/2012 10:32

Shouldn't be ovulation, but who knows. My earliest ovulation on Clomid was CD14 but this cycle is so screwy (AF didn't arrive last cycle but clinic told me to start taking tablets again and just start counting a new cycle) I just dont know.
To add insult to injury, DH is off overseas tomorrow for 4 days so I'm hoping ov can wait till he gets back!

mrsmellow · 12/05/2012 10:08

Hi cave hope it isn't AF - could it be ovulation? When should ovulation be after starting clomid? I've had cramps for the last day or two and sensitive nipples - I'm thinking ovulation (or the shortest cycle I've ever had, CD26 today). Refuse to treat it as a symptom spotting exercise out of self-preservation!

Hello MrsC and welcome. It is very frustrating -and actually think that I'm less upset about it now - I think around 5-6months was when I was most upset. Also, I have an appointment to see a fertility expert on Monday so feel like I'm doing something which helps! I am overseas, so it is all private health care, so much easier than NHS. It is crap when everyone else seems to get pregnant in minutes, but I agree with cave there is exaggeration and when you talk to people there are many who took longer. It just isn't something you tell people (as I'm sure you're not).

CaveMum · 12/05/2012 09:16

Hello all, yes it is very quiet on here these days.

Welcome MrsC, we've all been there, I'm afraid it is very easy to get obsessed quickly! The thing o remember is that it can take a 100% healthy couple up to a year to conceive, so try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Instant pregnancies are very rare as, in my opinion, most people exaggerate.

I'm on CD10, after restarted the Clomid tablets as. Instructed by the clinic. This morning I've had horrendous cramps, really bad AF like. I really hope this doesn't mean AF is on the way because that will screw my cycles up completely!

Hope everyone is ok Smile

MrsCMacleod · 11/05/2012 15:30

Hi all,

This is my first time posting and hope you don't mind me joining the discussion.

I'm 27 and myself and partner have decided to start trying. I'm going to be open and honest as have read that everyone here seem pretty open with their experiences... so here goes : ).

I stopped Dianette at the end of December and have only just had my first AF!!! I'm already rather obsessed with why I'm not already pregnant... years of trying not too and I somehow believed it wouldn't take long atall...

Has anyone got any tips or advice. I'm finding it so hard when friends of mine are announcing pregnancies! And I'm not sure if it's just because I'm more aware - but there is baby reminders everywhere I go...

Look forward to hearing back and good luck to those also trying : )

mrsmellow · 11/05/2012 10:37

Goodness me this thread has gone quiet.
I don't really have anything to add, going to see the fertility specialist on Monday so will of course optimistically do a pregnancy test then just in case there's a miracle. I will be CD28 (normally cycle is 40+days) but I've heard lots of stories of people getting pregnant when they have an appointment, no harm in a bit of hope?! Grin
cave I'm hoping that works for you too [fingers crossed emoticon]
