Welcome to the mad house Flipper!

No ovulation yet, but I think it's getting nearer! Day 27 and counting!

raspberrytipple · 08/06/2012 22:19

Hi flipper! It does feel a bit more real and serious once a referral comes through but it can take an average couple a year to fall pregnant so try not to worry! Taking the well man vits is a good idea and I think many people find they make a difference. Good luck to you!

Josie-glad to hear you are in touch with your friend, it's hard isn't it. I made myself text my newly pg friend tonight, I know if I didnt it would grow into something big in my mind and I really don't want that.

Have you ov'd yet cave?!

Does anyone mind if I jump in here? I'm 33, my husband is 38 and we've been trying for 10 months. We've had some basic tests done by the GP (blood tests and ultrasound for me, semen analysis for him) and have been referred to the hospital for further tests now, as I had a burst appendix 10 years ago and have been warned that this could affect fertility, as scarring could block my tubes.

My blood tests and ultrasound were fine, and I'm using a clearblue fertility monitor that says I ovulate on day 20 of a 30 day cycle. My husband's sperm count came back as low (5million/ml) but motility etc. was all fine, so this is being repeated and he's started taking the wellman conception vitamins. I'm pleased we've got the referral, but all of a sudden it all seems so much more serious! I'm so scared that my surgery from years ago is going to affect all this.

raspberrytipple · 07/06/2012 22:44

I got a pg announcement today too, my friend is five weeks with her second but it was an accident/surprise and to be honest the timing could not be worse although I did suggest perhaps some contraception would have been a good idea. I had a really odd reaction though, normally I just want to cry but today I really didn't mind, I felt for her quite a bit because I think it was a genuinely careless accident, she's 37 and started trying for her first 6 months after me. That's the only bit that makes me feel sad, she'll probably have had her second before I even get my first. :(

Oops, forgot to add - hope you are all well, sorry not to name check everyone

JosieSmith1 · 07/06/2012 08:45

Hi everyone, Karstan good to see you, I'm still here...

My friend had her baby last Sat, I was devastated at the time but I'm coming to terms with it. We're back in contact a little bit so that's good, I think, just worried about being hurt again. Another friend had a little boy last night, and someone else announced her surprise pregnancy yesterday. Luckily I'm getting good at just being a bit bah humbug rather than being inconsolable and crying my eyes out in the toilets. All good as I'm attending a leaving do for someone going on maternity leave at work this afternoon. Envy Why us!!!!! Anyway, I'm not giving up yet, it all makes me stronger and less willing to give in to this s**t

Come on girls, we can do this!!!!

raspberrytipple · 07/06/2012 07:42

Hi Karstan! Some of the old gang are still around sadly (again meant in the nicest possible way).

God this baby making takes ages, period has finally gone but I still have 17 days before I ovulate-feels like its forever away!!

OP posts:
HRHCavey · 06/06/2012 21:12

Hello Karstan! Yup, I'm still here!

Karstan · 06/06/2012 20:26

Hello Frolickers, long time no see.

Can't remember when I was last about but I'm hoping that some of the old faces have moved on (meant in the nicest possible way Grin )

We've not been trying but not not been trying but still nada. Dipping my toe in here to see if I can face actually getting back on the merry go round.

HRHCavey · 03/06/2012 09:30

Aw sorry raspberry, I've had that one happen too.

Still no ov here, CBFM still reading "High", but no whiff of a peak yet.

raspberrytipple · 02/06/2012 16:16

AF arrived literally 20 minutes after testing the bitch. Never mind, at least i can get plastered at our friends wedding in two weeks time!!

What is with this shitty weather, we had a whole weekend of walks, fishing and general lounging outside planned but can do absolutely nothing, it's drizzly cold and foggy! More like a December day than blummin summer

OP posts:
HRHCavey · 02/06/2012 08:44

Oh raspberry, we've all been there! I'll even admit to POAS during AF, just to make sure it's not implantation bleeding Blush.

Still no ov here, CBFM still reading "high" but cheapy OPKs aren't getting any darker. Hope this isn't a false surge, I had stabby pains and everything the other day which I assumed were pre-ov pains [sighs]

raspberrytipple · 02/06/2012 07:30

It was a BFN and I'm 14 dpo so I'm out as the dragons would say :(

OP posts:
raspberrytipple · 02/06/2012 07:28

Someone please slap me with a kipper and tell me why I'm sat in the loo poas. I know damn well I'm not up diffed and AF is well on its way. Ffs, I'm really just making it worse for myself, I should know better after three years

OP posts:
JosieSmith1 · 01/06/2012 08:26

Cave that sounds promising if you're gearing up for ovulation, fingers crossed. Someone at work has very low progesterone and doesn't ovulate so they're looking at IVF but her most recent blood test showed she had ovulated, for possibly the first time since she was about 18, so anything really is possible

Evil enjoy the SWI Grin

Hi to everyone else Smile

evilgiraffe · 30/05/2012 20:52

Josie - aside from the wait that does sound quite promising! Enjoy the summer :)

Fingers crossed for ovulation, Cave! I'm CD17 so again we are almost in synch!

DH is currently away, but I jumped him the morning he left and he's due back tomorrow so hopefully that won't be an issue - we're being more assiduous than normal with well-timed SWI this month Grin

CaveMum · 30/05/2012 15:57

Glad the new clinic is more inspiring Josie and fingers crossed for October Grin

I'm on my non-medicated cycle at the moment (long story), but signs are starting to look hopeful that I may be gearing up for ovulation, currently CD18.

[waves to anyone else that might be lurking]

JosieSmith1 · 30/05/2012 08:30

Raspberry that sounds painful, hope you get it sorted

Going ok here, saw the new clinic on Monday. They had all my notes already and knew what had happened at my last IVF, I was very impressed with the amount of research they'd done. Basically they said they're willing to do short protocol and would use a different drug which is supposedly stronger than the one I used last time, and at the highest dose. But they then said there's a waiting list so I won't be starting till October. I know it could be worse, but I'm going to tear my hair out waiting that long! Anyway, nothing I can do about it. They also said if I don't respond well and don't grow many follicles, they wouldn't automatically rule out EC, we would have to discuss it. They're being encouraged to go to EC even with a small number of follicles so that's good news too. So I'm going to have the rest of the summer off and enjoy my horse and gardening, then hopefully have the winter off as I'll be pg, with twins of course Grin

raspberrytipple · 30/05/2012 08:08

I'd not heard those, I seem to remember someone here saying they had become really hormonal but it may not have been the clomid. Will have to have a think about it.

Right I'm off to see an oesteopath about my knackered rib. Not sure what's wrong with it but I can barely do anything at the moment, it's horrible :)

OP posts:
CaveMum · 30/05/2012 08:06

Hi raspberry, Clomid can cause side effects but they vary from person to person. Some people complain of headaches and others say they get very vivid dreams. Personally the only side effect I have suffered is night sweats on Days 3 to 7 ( I take the tablets days 2-6). Not very pleasant, but not the worst symptom you can get.

raspberrytipple · 30/05/2012 07:35

Oh and why private and not NHS mellow?

OP posts:
raspberrytipple · 30/05/2012 07:34

Hows clomid going cave? It was mentioned to us as a possible option but km ovulating so wasn't sure why. I asked the GP last week and he said it would just be to make me super fertile but that could obviously lead to multiple pg which DP was quite excited by! Me not so much.... Does it give any side effects?

OP posts:
CaveMum · 29/05/2012 22:05

It's very quiet on here these days! Hope everyone is doing ok.

Sophie, as mellow said, try not to worry too much. Conceiving often takes longer than we expectand you are still in the early stages. Most Drs won't see you until you've been trying for at least a year, so you're a long way off that yet.

mrsmellow · 28/05/2012 20:26

Hi guys,
josie glad its going ok and raspberry I know how you feel about wanting to know every month for sure... too many unknowns.

Sophie by all accounts, don't worry - it is normal for healthy couples to take up to a year to get pregnant - however frustrating that might be!

AF arrived last week and we saw the gynae for our results - which showed I ovulated, everything else normal and DH has supersperm... she mentioned the words unexplained infertility (which I think was a bit harsh Grin )... and gave us clomid - so I'm on day 4 and we'll have a scan on Friday to see if it is stimulating ovulation...so fingers crossed. If nothing happens in 3 months, she's going to do a laparoscopy to check tubes and endometriosis then suggest IVF... (private healthcare not NHS!)

raspberrytipple · 27/05/2012 16:53

thanks Josie, we are still having to wait until October to see the specialist again and he said if we haven't got pg by then we could think about a referral for IVF but I've no idea how long the waiting list is or what hoops you have to jump through to get on the list so we shall see. Dr said not to bother with day 3/21 tests as Ive had one which showed I ovulated and if my cycles are between 28-35 days then I must be ovulating. Suppose I just wanted some reassurance.

How are you getting on anyway Josie?
