Hi Ladies! Hope you are all ok today. Had a good night last night but bloody knackered today. Got in at 5am Blush, SWI and then was drunkenly doing handstands to give the swimmers a helping hand!!! Must have looked ridiculous.
rasp your periods sound just like mine. I normally come on overnight but am crippled for the first day, less cramps the second, then spotting for a day or two...AF is a bitch.
Hello to the New Year newbies! This thread is going to be very lucky this year, lots of BFP's just you wait and see! Grin

PuggyMum · 01/01/2012 11:38

No hangover here which is odd as went out on the Friday night and felt like death yesterday and I had drank a lot less! Although I've got killer period pains! So ibuprofen is for that!!

Went to a friends house where DH's group of friends were with their kids! Took the dogs and the PIL even came too! FIL had bought some fireworks so he'll go down in history with all the (very well behaved!) kids. Staggered home at 2am. DH can't remember the getting home / nightcap bit! Thank goodness it wasn't swi time!!!

Going for a long walk this afternoon to blow away 2011!

Much love to all x x

WinterMymble · 01/01/2012 11:07

Happy new year everyone! We had some spectacular firework displays because the city gets pretty enthusiastic about this time of year. Stunning!

Josie i like your cake site. Especially the wedding cake!

SantasCave · 01/01/2012 10:24

Morning raspberry, no hangover to report here, even though DH and I polished off 2 bottles of wine last night! We stayed in, watched a DVD and then channel hopped for a few hours till midnight. Very rock and roll!

I'm starting this year in a positive frame of mind - this year we WILL get our babies!

Happy New Year to everyone!

raspberrytipple · 01/01/2012 10:19

morning all! Who is nursing a massive hangover then! I'm not too bad, didn't go overboard and we were home by 10.30 p.m. as DH was hammered and had a migraine. Other than me having a meltdown most of yesterday and crying most of the day we actually had quite a nice evening but we left before the pubs got busy. Desperately keeping fingers crossed that this time next year I'm stuck at home NYE trying to comfort a screaming baby!

Have you tested yet Winkly?

Happy New Year all!

Winkly · 01/01/2012 03:05

AF a day late...

Braced for let down tomorrow.

JosieSmith1 · 30/12/2011 22:02

Hi everyone, sorry for AF Puggy

My cycles are fairly regular in all aspects Raspberry so I can't really give you any advice I'm afraid. The baking is going well, just finished putting some more piccies on my website www.joscakerybakery.moonfruit.com if anyone fancies a nosy around Smile

Yes Winter I do make cupcakes but I prefer to make proper english fairy cakes instead Grin, too much icing on cupcakes for me (despite having possibly the world's sweetest tooth Grin)

A friend who I got in touch with about difficulty TTCing has been in touch again. She has a son who she conceived whilst on clomid due to PCOS but now she's been trying 4 years for her second and the clomid doesn't seem to be working this time round and they won't give her ivf with her already having one son. She's very low Sad Life's a bitch sometimes

raspberrytipple · 30/12/2011 19:31

Evening ladies!
AF seems to have got me today. warning TMI ...... Had bloody awful cramps this morning, I seem to get it every few months where I have so much pain I'm slumped on the loo crying/heaving to be sick and unable to move/feeling faint. It lasts about 20 minutes then eases off and just becomes mild cramps and bloating from that point. But then next month my period will probably just arrive unannounced in the morning. I don't really understand it. What are everyone else's periods like? Mine tend to be mid afternoon some light spotting then on the 'first day' extremely heavy, I can fill a super size tampax in two hrs. Day two tends to be very light then day three is just spotting. Does this sound normal along with the extreme pain this morning which coincidentally I have only had some very light spotting since later in the afternoon today? Sorry for the mammoth write up on my menstrual cycle but I'm not sure if this is normal?

Anyway - welcome to winter and Kalidasa. winter I fully intend to go back to work if I ever manage to get a baby. I don't have a particularly stressful job though so would probably go back part time but I don't think I could not work.

sorry to hear AF arrived puggy but here's to a few nice drinkies over New Year Wine

cave I have to say I had forgotten what a busy bunny you are! How are the Salsa classes going? Are they busy? I'd love to try Salsa but there's no way I could convince DH to go - no matter how much he loves watching the girls on Strictly :)

Fairy you sound like me with the crying! I cry at everything and now as AF is pretty much here I'm starting to regret agreeing to going out tomorrow evening as I know I'll end up blubbing by midnight due to lack of baby. Not much crying can do about it but Wine has that affect on me

Josie that book sounds good! How is the baking going? I will definitely visit to eat cake if you do open a shop :)

Hey Sweetie you are not alone, it seems as though a few of us have felt it this year, it is a shite time of year for us childless girls/guys as Christmas is 'all about the Children'. I nearly snapped today when my cousin asked when we would have babies as his LOs would love it (they are 4 and 3 years). I think he may have guessed though as I just went all misty eyed (nearly lost it and cried for the first time ever but then 3 yr old knee'd DH in the groin which just made me wince!!) and said 'we'll see' and it didn't get brought up again.

to anyone I've missed or any lurkers Xmas Grin

OP posts:
Fairygodmother1 · 30/12/2011 19:18

Winter - my advice is do do it when you feel like & enjoy it! We've had months where we were doing it for the sake of doing it - getting frustrated cos really nether were enjoying it as we should! It's so easy to become obsessed. Easier said than done! Plus Mother Nature is very much a woman - totally unpredictable!!! She hasn't helped me in 4 years!!!

Thats a shame Pug

Nappy New Year all! Xmas Grin

Limejelly · 30/12/2011 18:20

Oh that's a shame puggymum, good luck for next time. At least you can enjoy new year now!

Happy new Year Smile

PuggyMum · 30/12/2011 17:54

Pah! It's official. AF arrived today... A day early. At least I can enjoy the New Year Celebrations a bit more now! DH was lovely and said we'll try harder this month with a glint in his eye so he'll be happy!! First official time trying so not too disheartened and the main thing for me has been the fact I am at the in laws with very little to do so time has dragged!!!

When I'm back at work (and the gym!) time goes much faster!!!

Out tonight with DH's best pal and wife and they are having a party tomorrow so I won't have time to wallow :) Keeping my chin up ready for round 2......

Happy New Year folks x heres to 2012.

SweetieDoesIt · 30/12/2011 16:25

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I have been AWOL lately, just found the combo of Christmas and TTC hard work emotionally. Not sure being off work and the spare thinking time has helped. It is a whole year since we decided to TTC, taking folic acid etc and I think it has played heavily on my mind. Naively I expected to be preggers or bouncing a bubba on my hip by now.

I have been lurking over the holidays

Hopefully I will be back in the swing of things in the New Year.

WinterMymble · 30/12/2011 16:04

Winkly shifts do sound a challenge... Though i have heard quite a few people say that different shifts makes child care easier? I hope it goes smoothly :)

Fairy We haven't really started trying yet ... Decided to try to have kids just two weeks ago (!) - still a bit dazed about it. We gave it a whirl a day or two later but I idiotically didnt realise that it was totally the wrong time of the month -- this is complicated, isn't it! :) We will try properly again mid Jan, when i think is the next feasible 'slot'.

Josie that sounds like a lovely book. It reminds me of the book Baking Cakes in Kigali, which filled me with a passionate longing to rush forth and create masses of multicoloured sponge cakes. (cooking is not my forte thiugh .. My hsband is better at that :). Do you make cupcakes?

JosieSmith1 · 30/12/2011 13:03

Hi everyone, just dropping by quickly while I'm at work. I am reading anovel that DH got me for xmas about a woman who's grandfather used to own and run a bakery when she was a kid, he's not in a home, but she is unexpectedly made redundant from her office job, so on the spur of the moment she starts renting a business property and opens the "Cupcake Cafe"! Very appropriate methinks Grin So I am now all inspired and stuffs Grin If I do ever open a bakery I hope you will all come up to the north east and visit Smile

FairyonthetreeG · 30/12/2011 12:25

My parents live down the road (can drive me mad at times) so will only take a few mins to drop them off. My dad has retired so it'll be mainly him helping out. Of course I'll pay him for his trouble! Really I'd like to only work 3 days a week but it's hard to get a full time teaching job doing that where I live.

have you been trying long Winter?

Winkly · 30/12/2011 12:05

I love my job as well but as my husband and I both work shifts its hard to see how we'll manage. I'veworked really hard on developing my career this year and don't want all the effort to be wasted either.

AF was a false alarm! 2 days later and nothing but that little bit of spotting on Wednesday.

Limejelly · 30/12/2011 10:12

Nope, no strategy! I'm a Teacher so on holiday at the moment and I have nothing to take my mind off it, will be easier when back at work.

Me and DP have been discussing what will happen in regards to me returning to work after having the baby too. I'm hoping to go part-time if school lets' me. Already a few part-timers where I work though so will have to wait and see.

WinterMymble · 30/12/2011 09:06

Limejelly Fingers crossed for you. Waiting is ghastly. I am waiting for AF so we can get started properly ... Now i know what an opk means! (last month i thought it meant 'languish back and no point in SWI' - an idiosyncratic interpretation all of my own ;)

Lime, do you have any favourite strategies for enduring the 2ww?

WinterMymble · 30/12/2011 09:01

Fairy you teach too! I'm in education as well. It is brilliant your parents will help ... They will love that too. (we haven't got any parents left, so we're on oir own ... Eeep).

Grin - yes, those adverts are pretty effective. Well.... Hopefully by next Christmas we will all be their target market :) BFP for all!

FairyonthetreeG · 30/12/2011 07:56

Winter I'm the main breadwinner in our house so would have to return to work! I'm a supply teacher at the mo - needed to take away the stress of being in the classroom full time to help me concieve. Not sure how this will work once we finally have a LO but I from the few conversations I have had with my parents, they will take over the care when I have assignments. I also think that maybe Supply teaching will benefit as I will be able to spend more time with them on my terms. TBH - I don't know many stay at home mums & certainly don't know any teachers who left completely or went 'part-time' at their school.

I've been waiting a long time & friends & family announcing pregnancy still gives me a sting. Yes, I also have shed a few tears at adverts - the current one being the dad setting up an email account for his daughter when she grows up with all the memories! But I can also cry when a lost child on Bondi Rescue is reunited with a parent!!! Xmas Hmm

Limejelly · 30/12/2011 00:26

I am now on day 8 of my 2ww. I just want to know!!!

A friend of mine just announced she is pregnant with twins I was all

Shock SmileEnvy

How is everyone else coping with the waiting?
