[waves to Flick]

We're trying very hard!!!

Good news, my Day 21 bloods came back with a progesterone level of 59. Anything over 30 is good so I've most definitely ovulated - lets just hope all the Christmas shagging has done the trick Grin

Flickstar · 03/01/2012 14:46

We need some more BFPs over on the grads threads please ladies! Sending all my best BFP vibes your way. Wishing you lots of luck and BFPs for 2012 xxx

kalidasa · 03/01/2012 12:43

My partner is also excited and keeps asking me if I "feel pregnant" yet (I am, at the most, 4 dpo!). I have explained about implantation and the odds per month but to no avail . . .

But then he also keeps telling me that he's "sure he's sterile" (for which there is no evidence at all) so I suppose like all of us he is feeling a whole mixture of things.

Actually I do feel quite odd but this is obviously 100% psychosomatic, plus we're moving house on Monday so I think we are both quite on edge.

Hope everyone else is doing OK and coping with being back at work. Central London is v. grim and windy and hardly anyone else is here yet.

nearlydunne · 03/01/2012 08:21

i bought him a man book which he is reading and have told him that its not as easy as it sounds but he is just so excited he cant help himself. it really is lovely to have him so excited at the same time tho. off to work now arg.

SantasCave · 03/01/2012 08:16

"other hands" = "other halves" obviously Hmm

SantasCave · 03/01/2012 08:15

Morning nearly, it is lovely when the other hands get excited - its nice to know we have the support.

It might be worth you sitting down with him and making sure he understands the biology behind getting pregnant. When we decided to start ttc, DH was shocked when I explained the window of opportunity was 18 hours a month at best! Because they never really learn about periods at school, many men seem to think it is just a question of having sex! The What To Expect Before You're Exoecting book is very good on this front.

nearlydunne · 03/01/2012 08:11

Oh and Good Morning all have a lovely day

nearlydunne · 03/01/2012 08:10

I should show this to my dp we have been trying for a few weeks and he keeps talking to my belly. im like my food really appreciates it but its just weird Grin
is anyone elses dp getting a little over excited? i love that he is so into it but i think it will make it more disappointing when af comes

Beeblebear · 02/01/2012 23:52

Cave. I hear you on the missing 3 months. Exactly why I got off the pill several months before trying to try and get my body back in a rythem. My cycles coming of the pill have thankfully been fairly normal. 30/28/28/32. Currently on cd 21. Been taking vits 4 months now. I have a nephew with spinabifida so didn't want to take chances. Also had my folate blood levels tested and they are all good too. My weight is good so no worries there. It did take my mom 6 years and several mc before she got me though soo I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

I agree that it's hard not to imagine having a little one next christmas!

littlemisslemon · 02/01/2012 21:05

Thanks for the early advice cave! :) after trying not to get pregnant for such a long time I know it will be easy to get carried away and expect it to happen straight away! Just going to try and have fun and see what happens.

Like marshmallow the idea of ttc has been on the horizon for us so have been taking multivitamin/folic acid, exercising a little and maintaining healthy weight. Was trying to wait for a good time work wise but i dont think that will ever come along, so decided to take the plunge!

DessieLou · 02/01/2012 20:35

What would we do without you cave?! You are quite right though, don't expect too much too soon newbies, it can be a long road but lets hope it's not. By the way, I do not advocate drunken handstands..it's a miracle I didn't break my neck! I'll let you know if it works though. then you'll all be doing it! Haha! Grin

marshmallow2468 · 02/01/2012 20:32

Thanks for the info Headmistress Cave!

I don't think you're being a harbinger of doom, and think you're making some very good points. I'm hoping that I'll conceive sometime this year and hopefully won't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen immediately. As for my own health, I've had it vaguely in mind for the last few months so have been taking folic acid, cutting down on booze a bit and trying to eat a bit more healthily. Fingers crossed I'm in the best possible shape.

SantasCave · 02/01/2012 19:29

Hi to all the newbies!

marshmallow the reason they say to allow yourself a "natural" period is so that it is easier to work out when you conceived. Of course with scans these days it can all get worked out at a later date, so it's up to you if you want to get cracking or not Grin

I don't want to be the boring "harbinger of doom" around here, but I will say to all the newbies, please don't put too much pressure on yourselves to conceive right away. A perfectly healthy couple with no fertility issues will usually conceive within 6 months to 1 year, but you have to bare in mind that it can often take longer. I know what it feels like to put pressure on yourself to get pregnant right away, after all we have it drummed into us that any unprotected sex = pregnancy, but please do take the time to be kind to yourselves.

I read something in one of my many conception books that refers to the "missing 3 months" of pregnancy. This is the three months you should take before you conceive to get yourself healthy, give up any naughty habits and generally prepare your body for pregnancy. It is definitely worth baring in mind.

Also, don't forget to start taking your folio acid NOW - they recommend you take it as soon as you think about ttc.

Just call me Headmistress Cave Wink

marshmallow2468 · 02/01/2012 19:12

Hi,

First post on here. My last pill pack finishes in a few days, and then we'll be trying. I've heard you should wait until you have one "natural" period and use other contraception until then. Any opinions on that? Googling doesn't seem to come up with anything conclusive.

Good luck to everybody here. Fingers crossed for smooth and successful times for all.

winkle2 · 02/01/2012 17:06

I'd like to join too.

Hubby and I have been sort of trying for the past 3 months but have decided to go for it properly from now.

All hubby and I have talked about is how great Christmas and new year will be next year with a new baby!!

Winkly · 02/01/2012 16:29

A teeny bit of spotting but still no AF for me. Dammit.

Ratata · 02/01/2012 16:15

Hey again all and happy new year! I liked DessieLou who said she was doing drunken handstands. Perhaps that's the magical trick to getting pregnant :D

I'm still waiting on my period. It's a week late so far but have just come off the pill so that will be why. Last time I came off it was 2 weeks late. Annoying when you have started TTC and looking for signs of pg and period is really late! Done 2 tests but both negative. Now getting pains down below so probably period on it's way. I usually get sore boobs though and that's not happened yet. Frustrating!

SweetieDoesIt I am like that too, only just started TTC and feel it will just happen in the first month but know its highly unlikely. Doesn't help that a few folk around me in RL got pg in first month.

littlemisslemon · 02/01/2012 15:57

Hello everyone. I am new to all of this! Have been reading the thread for a couple of weeks but thought I would stop lurking and join in if thats ok?
Im 27, DH is 30, TTC #1. Stopped taking the pill in Dec after 10yrs. Just thought we'd see how things go.
Thought this thread looked like a nice friendly place to share experiences/tips etc. :)

Fairygodmother1 · 02/01/2012 10:18

Well I know there isn't endo there for me so must be a symptom of my PCOS!

raspberrytipple · 02/01/2012 10:00

blimey - back to work for me tomorrow :( Still, house is all tidied up and the washing done etc. Shopping is being delivered later so at least I'm ready to get back to it full pelt. Sort of. Off to the in-laws today as haven't made it up over Christmas really apart from Christmas Eve.

Impressed with the handstand Dessie I tried that once and nearly went off the side of the bed. Even more impressed with the late hour you were doing it, I was asleep by 11.30 p.m.! Im hardcore like that though.

Hope AF either turns up soon or stays away for nine months winkly it's so frustrating when our bodies decide to play games.

Fairy it's funny you mention Endo as I've never really thought of myself as having that but these last few cycles I have started to wonder. Something they'll check out this year I supposed.

Impressed with all those who survived NY with no hang over Grin

Hell beeblebear and welcome to the made house! Hope you have a short stay Smile

Suppose I best get up and make the most of the last day!

Beeblebear · 02/01/2012 09:53

FTF here. Hi everyone.
(30) ttc #1 ucl ?? 28 to 34 days I guess. 4 months off the pill but first month not preventing. Into the tww now I think. I was a bit naughty on nye, but no handstands. Lol

Winkly · 02/01/2012 08:41

Good effort with the handstands dessie!

Quiet NYE here, DH working so I had a few glasses of bucks fizz with afriend at home. Had a great Sunday roast at MIL's yesterday.

I had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday and thought AF had started -but then nothing. My periods are normally fairly heavy but I've not even needed a panty liner. Frustrating - if I'm not pregnant my body ought to get on with it like normal!

WaitingForMe · 01/01/2012 18:40

Small dinner ended up a bit of a mammoth drinking session for us so I'm hungover. I was pretty impressed with DH and I for nevertheless managing to DTD at 3am though clearly the award goes to DessieLou for acrobatics if not the even later hour!

I'm all ready to be angelic now though. No more booze for me well until AF

Fairygodmother1 · 01/01/2012 16:01

No hang over here - I also cahnnel hopped, watched fims & a few drinks with DH.
Rasp - my af is also very similar to yours, consultant suspected Endo but not at all!

Well done Dessie - bet that came in handy!

New year & haven't had my bang yet!!!!

DessieLou · 01/01/2012 14:26

PS - tax man gave me very nice xmas pressie in the form of a £700 cheque!!!! [gloating face] Grin
