littlemisslemon · 13/01/2012 20:21

Ok, so AF due today, but no sign as yet although feeling a little crampy. A friend of mine just told me it took her 3 months to have her first period after coming off OCP... i hope i don't have to wait that long! How's everyone else getting on?

CEDR · 13/01/2012 14:37

Fuckit, lets all have a Wine.

I've been ill since the new year started, which has pretty much curbed all amorous thoughts.... Vomiting bug, a cold and now a pulled muscle. I'm defo not pg, so thoroughly looking forwards to a huge Wine tonight!

NearlyDunne · 12/01/2012 22:08

Sorry to hear that beeble good luck for round two
I am still waiting for af and still being a c**t. Either come or give me a bfp stop messin me around silly body

Beeblebear · 12/01/2012 21:57

AF has arrived, and on the plane as I expected. that was sure one uncomfortable 11 hr flight.

On to cycle 2!

PearlFisherprice · 12/01/2012 21:19

Hi all,

Can I join in too? I'm a first-timer and in need of some moral support.

It's CD1 of cycle 7 for me, so am having a pity party drinking wine and eating chocs. I know seven months isn't all that long, but while there are people around me getting pregnant instantly / accidentally it's long enough for my inner child to be stamping her feet and going "Waaahh! Unfair!!"

I also periodically get this awful fear that just engulfs me, of thinking "what if it never happens?" etc etc... Reading these threads and knowing I'm not alone has been so helpful.

ChairOfTheBored · 12/01/2012 07:12

Hey, can I join.

We're starting out TTC for our first, after a bit of exposure therapy this year has cured me of my baby fear.

Not sure how we'll get on, but enjoying the practice so far!

NearlyDunne · 12/01/2012 00:15

Ratata i was the same kinda holding my breath when they were pushing, dp said my face went red. He cried when the baby that got stuck cried and when disney baby was born he is such a softy.
I hope to god my af doesnt take as long as yours i dont think i could handle another week and a half of feeling like this. Im starting to feel a bit like i did when i had the implant in, a little out of control like im soooo angry at nothing. i went mental at dp for not offering to mash the spuds even though he offered to help me a few minutes before hand and i told him i wasn't incapable of making dinner on my own.
He hugged me when he was going to bed and said he understood i cant help it and i bawled like a baby for about 20 minutes. im just not myself and i hate it.

josie im so glad you had a good time and feel better about things.
Are you irish?

Ratata · 11/01/2012 23:45

Ok was watching OBEM tonight and I seem to find myself starting to 'push' when the midwives are telling the women to push. That's just weird. I'm a big weirdo! Lol.

josie what a lovely post. I'm glad you had a great weekend. You are completely right. Your family is your family, whether they came out you or not. Being a good parent is the most important thing :)

nearlydunne I'm on my first AF after coming off pill. It was two and a half weeks late and my hormones were going a bit mental. I kept thing DH was blaming me for things when he clearly wasn't. Like he would make a comment about something being out of date in the fridge and I would then blame myself. Even though he wasn't placing blame, just commenting! Us women are mental lol. Hope you feel more like yourself soon!

marshmallow I've not given up the booze, I don't have the willpower til I'm actually pg lol. I drink one night every 2 weeks or so. Bit of a binge drinker I must admit. I take my 2 weeks worth of units in one night lol.

Haha love the baboon arse comment. My bum does that too. LOL.

littlemisslemon · 11/01/2012 23:17

Oops that's im glad not important stupid autocorrect!

littlemisslemon · 11/01/2012 23:16

Aw josie am so glad you had such a wonderful weekend and are feeling so positive. everything you say makes total sense and important glad you and your OH have really positive things to look forward to! :)

BTW nearly I've never suffered much with hormones before but feeling quite strange and agitated but no AF symptoms yet. This no pill lark is interesting...!!! Hmm

NearlyDunne · 11/01/2012 22:23

I could really do with a Wine im feeling utter shit. I hate being this hormonal im so grumpy with dp and then it makes me feel horrible so i cry. arg its crap
Where is my flippin af so i can be normal again

JosieSmith1 · 11/01/2012 20:31

Hi everyone, sorry I've been awol - been away for the weekend and really busy since! Had an amazing time away, had loads of fun just the two of us and even stayed in the bar on sat night and had some cocktails (haven't had a drink since erm, March maybe Confused) but it's one of the things dh said he's been missing so we've agreed to do things other than sit in front of the tv all night. Had a right laugh, which I don't think I've done since starting ttcing. Went out all day sunday then in the bar again sun night then home monday.

Something very strange happened aswell. I had an epiphany and realised that even if we adopt, we will still be a family and that whether we adopt or have biological children, I will one day be a mammy! I have been really excited about adoption ever since! I saw a pg woman and smiled instead of feeling really low, and I have been able to talk about my friend's pg without feeling really upset and jealous because I know that I will one day be able to buy clothes for my children and take pictures of them in their frist school uniform and do all the things parents do. I seem to have realised that it's not the carrying the baby or experiencing the labour or even the pg that's important, it's bringing up the child. And if we do adopt, we will be providing a loving home environment for a child in need.

So all the ttcing is pretty much out of the window. I almost want the fertility clinic to say we'll not have biological children so that I can start the adoption process! I hope this feeling of peace lasts. That's the best way I can describe it - a feeling of peace has descended on me. I have decided to sod being healthy, sod not drinking and sod thinking about kids all the time, we will definitely have kids one day so we might as well make the most of just us for now. And enjoy lots of sex just for the sake of enjoying sex!

Sorry it's so long, glass of Wine for anyone who made it this far!

NearlyDunne · 11/01/2012 16:35

Hi marsh
We are giving up the plonk apart from when af is around i think its a fair compromise.
I dont drink that much anyway but a nice glass bottle of wine on a friday night is lovely and will be missed a little when i do get up the duffers

marshmallow2468 · 11/01/2012 16:19

Welcome BottleRed! I'm a newbie here too,

Nothing too exciting happening for me. Pill finished. Withdrawal bleed finished. I'm following the advice on waiting for the first natural period before really trying, but it's so tempting to think sod it, let's just go for it!

In the meantime, still reading up on advice for pre-pregnancy. Still taking the folic acid religiously, eating healthier than I have done in a while. Quick Q - do people give up booze when they're actively trying just in case? Frankly if (hopefully!!) I won't be able to drink at some point, I don't want to start missing out on my wine now!! I'm a reasonably responsible drinker anyway, my 33 year old body can't handle the hangovers any more.

CEDR · 11/01/2012 13:53

Welcome bottlered and good luck!

Baboon arse thing is good- sounds like it makes life easier! Wink

Beeblebear · 11/01/2012 12:48

Raspberry yup having a great time on our honeymoon! , back from our island trip, and fly home tomorrow. My butt is burnt from snorklin all day today. Not going to be a fun flight. Poas yesterday cause% wanted to have a goodbye island drink and g got a BFN.

Some spotting today. ERTD to hit soon i'm sure.

NearlyDunne · 11/01/2012 12:12

Still no sign of af....
Still as grumpy as i was last week and not enjoying it at all. I know im bound to be grumpy after giving up smoking but this is definately a hormonal grump im much better at controlling a normal grump.
i feel awful for dp as he just gets it for no reason, he was being so nice last night and i snapped at him just for trying to cuddle me. arg hope it comes soon

NearlyDunne · 10/01/2012 22:10

Hello BottleRed Welcome.
I'm afraid i'm no help as i don't really know anything about those ovulation thingys. Were just bonking away and hoping for the best.
I think the baboons arse would be handy and everyone would get it so it wouldn't be weird

BottleRed76 · 10/01/2012 21:51

Hello Ladies
This is my first MN post!
Im 35, DH is 37 and we've been ttc for a little while now but have got serious about it the last couple of months and paid attention to timing and frequency of BD etc etc.
I had hoped that it would magically happen by itself but looks like we actually have to put some effort it!!!
I tried ovulation tests last year and got no results, which I automatically assumed that was my error in testing.
(BTW how hard is it to pee on demand when you can't drink in advance of testing?)
Although I'm quite relaxed about ttc, I am concerned about my age and if we run into problems how long will it be before this can be investigated and how old will I be then? If I have to look at alternative methods of concieving or ultimately becoming a parent non-biologically will my age be against me...... Tedious worries....
Anyway, I had decided to be completely spot on with the Ovulation tests for a couple of cycles and if no positive results then I would speak to doctor or seek out preliminary tests privately - I don't even know if this is an option. Has anyone looked into this?

I have read on MN that ovu tests can be unreliable - any opinions?
So, I'm going to count this as cycle 2 ttc, and I'm on day 19 of 32 days. I have an app that calculates the theoretical optimal time - it's just passed but I'll continue testing anyway.
Determined not to get too obsessed with this.

Incidentally - Just watching a programme about baboons and when a female is fertile her rear end swells up to notify the male and then he follows her and mates every 20 minutes........... Not sure whether that's better or not....... Confused

OOOOOOH how long is this post????? Shock

NearlyDunne · 10/01/2012 20:10

Fairygodmother1 · 10/01/2012 19:00

Thats crap Nearly!!!!!

Going well Raspberry but am so tired. Not moaning, just stating a fact cos I'm really happy I've got a job!

Symptom spotting - fuzzy head, sore boobs, nausea, back ache, temperature up & down, still full of cold...Hmm

CaveMum · 10/01/2012 18:43

Evening all.

Nearly firstly so sorry to hear about your job, that's pretty shite of them. Also sorry about the BFN, but as they say it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

Raspberry I'm doing better now thanks. Sunday night was very low but, as usual with me, a bit of time and I was back on track.

I've managed to track down a CBFM that another MNer is going to lend to me. Bless her she posted it this afternoon so I should be able to start with it on Thursday. Hopefully it will help me make more sense of my cycles!

raspberrytipple · 10/01/2012 18:16

Evening all, hope everyone is well.
Sorry about the BFN Nearly but it's early days so don't lose hope and very sorry to hear about your job, that really is shit

How is the new job going Fairy?

Sounds like you've had an exciting week beeble with theme parks and scuba diving!

How you feeling now cave? Hope you are feeling a bit better and it's great that DH has been able to make some arrangements to get out of work and home for SWI this month so fingers crossed and best of luck to you.

hello everyone else!

Not much to report here, on CD10 and still bloated with a sore tummy, no idea what that is all about but it's gone on the list to talk to the doctor about. SWI once so far this cycle but reckon we need to get to it from tonight/tomorrow through to next weekend just to be sure. Diet isn't going to badly although had a bit of a blow out on the weekend and ate a whole pack of sainsbury's mini blueberry muffins pretty much all to myself!! That definitely wasn't on the approved list of foods Hmm
