New thread..... let's get going!!

Pink I found out that my lack of cycles were due to PCOS - I waqs sent for blood tests & scan but the GP first sent me to a fertility specialist first - it can take up to 6 months to get an app with them so start sooner than later!

You need to buy yourself a book or get googling.

raspberry Have a good rant!

Sorry to hear about BFN! Someone needs one soon!!!

littlemisslemon · 17/01/2012 18:04

Sorry about your bfn nearly. Are you still waiting for af ? Im getting very impatient this end! Lots of pain but still no sign for me.

raspberrytipple · 17/01/2012 07:14

It wouldn't be a bad idea pink, purely because of your cycle length, they maybe be able to do something to make them more regular. I think cave used to have really long cycles so hopefully she'll be along soon and can advise better than me but I suppose the longer your cycles are, the less you are ovulating and the less chances you have every month of trying .?

Booo sorry to hear that Nearly Sad

NearlyDunne · 17/01/2012 06:13

BFN. gutted i was so excited

Pinkflipflop · 16/01/2012 22:03

Would it be advisable for me to go to GP so soon, after only 2 months of seeing what happens? Really? Sad think I need to pull my socks up on the matterGrin

raspberrytipple · 16/01/2012 21:45

well, not hedging all our bets yet fairy just in case it doesn't happen but they've set up some viewings and said we can go with them or book some viewings ourselves. All being well if they get something in the next six or so weeks we could be in by April or September at the latest. Just got to find something we think we could live in happily.

Had another facebook pregnancy announcement today, someone I would not have expected in a million years. Had a rant today instead of having a cry

hi pink, I would second what Fairy said, would be worth getting checked out as they are rather long cycles.

OP posts:
Pinkflipflop · 16/01/2012 21:44

Really Fairy? BlushBlush but what will the GP do? Am totally naive about all things ttc!
Do I need to google what clomid is? Never heard of it.

I've heard that with long cycles things like fertility monitors are ineffective-can anyone shed light on this?

Any advice on what my ttc strategies should be if ovulation doesn't occur at a regular time every month?

Sorry to ask so many questions.

Fairygodmother1 · 16/01/2012 21:09

Hi Pinkflipflop- if you're already having irregular cycles I'd get to the GP - I did 4 years ago & lied about how ong we'd been trying (said a year but only 6 months). 4 Years on am still not pg after clomid & various other things - I have PCOS so irregular periods are one of many symptoms I have. I'm 31 and glad we started 4 years ago!

wow Rasp - what a lucky girl you are!!! I'd love a house!

Pinkflipflop · 16/01/2012 20:21

teaching Blush

Pinkflipflop · 16/01/2012 20:20

Can I join? Am very casually ttc this month for the first time. Teachin job made permanent in September so considering I am 32 seems like time to get on with it!

I haven't read all the tips over this thread but I am looking forward to doing so. My only ttc worry is that I have very long and irregular cycles ranging from about 43 - 84 days, I know this will make things trickier.

Not really sure where to go with ttc other than:

downloaded the fertility app on iphone
taking folic acid every day
Obv regular sex!

Anyway looking forward to getting to know people on here Smile

LouP19 · 16/01/2012 17:09

Sorry Josie, I just saw your comment.

I have felt so 'alone' and 'wierd' in the last few months, and so it's very comforting to know that I'm not the only one with these feelings. I have to keep a distance at the moment for my sanity, and with friends I'm perfectly comfortable 'oohing' and 'aahing' at their babies because I can also say 'Please don't put them on my lap' etc, if I'm feeling a bit delicate at that point. There is no offence taken, and they all understand that whilst I think babies are amazing and cute and terrific, I don't necessarily want them thrust at me right now.

Earlier in the year I sent my sister in law a short email saying I found being around small babies very difficult and that she wasn't to be offended. I didn't get any reply, but I still feel whenever I'm with them there's this ridiculous expectation on me to pick him up, swing him around, play with him for hours. And I just can't, nor can I be particularly natural around him, which is very sad, but it's just the way it is right now.

The 'cold' comment made me laugh! I spent the run up to Christmas hoping I'd get a cold so I could keep my distance when we went to stay with the in-laws! Gosh, the things we do, eh?!!!!

LouP19 · 16/01/2012 17:00

Hi Beeblebear,

Yes, I have done all of the above. My life for the last 2 years has involved 'I hope by my birthday/Easter/Christmas/the cat's birthday or any other random date I can come up with' I'm pregnant,....

On the good side I finally have put some clothes and some of OUR stuff in a spare set of drawers I was keeping for baby clothes. Kind of hoping the more I carry on with my life the more likely it'll happen for us! :-)

JosieSmith1 · 16/01/2012 16:10

P.S. Nearly I've got my fingers crossed for you!! Keep us up to date!

JosieSmith1 · 16/01/2012 16:09

JNO is the transvaginal scan the one where they use the probe with a condom on up your jacksy? If so, I've had that too and it was nowt to worry about Raspberry, not even as uncomfortable as a smear like JNO says.

Raspberry the photo shoot sounds amazing, and fab news about the house!

Lou it's comforting to know someone else feels like me around kids! I really want to get involved and I have slowly (it's taken 7 years to be able to look and smile at them) started interacting a teeny tiny bit, but I'm also scared of getting hurt, I know you'll understand that. I too had a miscarriage so I know the added pressure. MiL used to force the kids to give me a kiss goodbye. Luckily she eventually got the hint and gave up, plus the boys got to the age they didn't want to kiss anyone goodbye so I was off the hook. A good pointer I found - pretend you have a cold and that you don't want to get too close incase you pass it onto the kids Grin She always used to say we need to get used to it for when we have our own (very painful in more recent times) and now that they know what we're going through they've started doing it again

Beeblebear · 16/01/2012 14:40

Nearly. Woo hoo ! I think I see some more testing in your immediate future.

NearlyDunne · 16/01/2012 10:39

Ok i tested..... im looking at the test now and their is a faint pink line.... is that a positive? i mean its as faint as faint can be but it is there.

Beeblebear · 16/01/2012 05:49

Ok, please let me know I'm normal.

Put your hand up if you have done the following..

A. Turned sideways and looked In the mirror and arched your back, sticking your tummy out to see what you might look like a little bit pregnant.
B. Bought our acquired some baby things already and have them stashed away for"some day"
C. POAS even though you know it's probablyo early too early to tell anyways , or were using contraception bet were sure that you had conceived anyway somehow, only to get a BFN
D. ALL OF THE ABOVE

JNO18 · 15/01/2012 18:33

Oh wow that's amazing Raspberry! What a great weekend!!

I did a photo shoot as a present for my DH before we got married. He loved it and I felt the same, was so nervous but it was fine when I got there. Bet you can't wait to see the pics. Looking at houses and thinking about moving will hopefully give you something else to focus on for the next few months?

After our good news with the scan yesterday we've spent the day decorating as we really want to put our flat on the market and buy a house. It's been taking my mind off the fact I'm in the 2ww anyway. I'm 7po today. My boobs are so sore but this happened last month too so not getting my hopes up at all.

raspberrytipple · 15/01/2012 18:27

Hello all. Thanks for letting me know about the TV fairy and JNO, I hate smears so glad its not as bad

Had my photo shoot this morning, I was so nervous by the time I was in my undies I was shaking real bad but the photographer was amazing and very reassuring. Got some fab pics including some topless! I was astonished I got the confidence to take my bra off but once I'd done that I was away :) hair make up and 137 photos, two to be airbrushed all for £70! Bargain.

Then, we went to my mums and following out near eviction nightmare this weekend and my dad finding out how much he will get from my nans will they have decided to buy us a three bed house that we can chose. We will then pay them a nominal rent until we have some savings and have cleared our debt and we will then buy the house from them and they'll buy another property. They would be cash buyers to so they should be able to get a bargain. So all in all a good weekend!

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 14:41

JNO18 · 15/01/2012 14:25

littlemisslemon · 15/01/2012 14:18

Oh and raspberry, revision going ok but very tedious! What are you revising for? Its so easy to get distracted (hence on here!! Oops).

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 14:14
